Ok tmi but so excited! Dtd with oh today - only third time since bfp and last time was about week 7...

And it was much better than normal! Don't know if it was the horny dreams or just increased blood flow but hello big o almost immediately... Grin

littlestgirlguide · 21/09/2013 19:57

Maybe they are just totally clueless? I wouldn't think they'd find full time professional childcare at 6 weeks old though, most places won't take them til they are 3 months. My DD started nursery 4 days a week at 7 months, and it is honestly far harder on the mum than the baby!

Had my scan this afternoon, all well, but baby is lying breech, and measuring a week ahead apparantly.
Now at my 12-week scan they moved my due date back by nearly a week (despite me being sure of my dates) so either I'm having a whopper, or my dates were right all along! So due date could be 11th Feb or it could be 6th feb as I thought originally!

vix206 · 21/09/2013 19:59

Lucky you Cubano Grin make the most of it please - I'm so envious!

We dtd last week and I felt terrible during and after (painful Braxton hicks afterwards). Both agreed we wouldn't be doing it again until after baby is born ConfusedConfused

jazzcat28 · 21/09/2013 21:24

Think I felt my first kick this evening Smile

Survived shopping with MIL despite DH playing with all the toys in every shop under my nose Hmm

She bought us a simple bouncy chair which DH insisted on constructing when we got home and now can't dismantle so it's sitting in the study-come-nursery waiting patiently for February to arrive!!

very quiet day at work (nhs) today so I made the most of having access to a portable ultrasound machine (and no seniors being around) to take a look for little one!!! couldn't really make anything significant out but definitely saw baby movements...was exciting Smile

misskatamari · 21/09/2013 21:59

Wow durk that's awesome. Very jealous!

Glad you survived jazzcat! Bless your DH - he sounds very excited about baby Grin

Been feeling grotty most of the day but managed to do roast chicken and even made gravy and my god I think it may have been the best meal I have ever made! Can't believe I have never done it before. Bed time for me now and hopefully my cold will have gone away by morning x

tinypolkadot · 21/09/2013 22:23

Sorry to read about your scan zazou I hope you get positive news at the next one.

I've just had a bath and it's exhausted me!

Our noisy neighbours must have come back from holiday today. It was too much to hope for that they were going for two weeks! Honestly, the noisiest pair of oaps EVER!

Dh has been working away for two nights a week for the past 3 months, and this week has only been home 1 night Sad it's going to carry on til November, finding it v difficult tbh. He always works funny & unpredictable hours so go knows how we're going to cope with a routine when I go back to work.

tinypolkadot · 21/09/2013 22:26

Oops, posted too soon!

Sorry for the moan, I know there are others who are having to do this alone.

I've been having a serious sort out of old junk today too, bloody good therapy! Grin

CubanoHabana · 21/09/2013 22:40

Also, just booked and paid for my antenatal classes today, exciting times!

pettyprudence · 21/09/2013 23:28

tiny my dh has been working away 3 days/2 nights since end of May too... was only supposed to be for one month.. then 2... then you get the picture. Its bloody hard. He tells me he has it hard but when he's ordering room service and tucked up in a Hilton bed I wonder just how hard it can be for him...

misskatamari · 22/09/2013 10:11

Eeeek it's crazy how fast it's going isn't it cubano! I need to start listening to my hypnobirthing CDs or the baby will be out before I've started!

Petty and tiny - I feel for you. DH is a games programmer and when it's crunch time he works crazy hours and weekends and I go months without actually seeing him for more than a sleepy morning goodbye/night time hello when I'm already asleep. I'm just blocking out the thought of what it will be like with a baby! I guess we just need to remember that well do what we can - houses might be a bit messy, we might have the odd take away and well need to grab sleep when we can but our babies will have lots of love and that's what counts Smile and you can remind me if this come February when I have a teeny baby and no sleep and no DH in sight lol!

Sympathy for those whose DHs work stupid hours. Mine's are ridiculous - Friday he rang at 4pm from work to say he had been called to an emergency in North Yorkshire (3 hours drive away), home at 2am, no notice at all, worked till 12.30 yesterday morning, back at work again today, so no weekend at all. He works from home and is 'on call' so we never know what he's doing. Slightly worried about baby arriving unexpectedly when he's in Aberdeen or Exeter or Norwich or somewhere hours away! I suppose it's all overtime though so I shouldn't complain.

EeyoreIsh · 22/09/2013 11:07

sympathies for those of you with overworked DHs and that work away. it must be really difficult. my DH is currently unemployed so I have the opposite problem, he's forever under my feet! Hopefully he'll have a new job soon. I'm keeping him busy in the meeting getting everything the house finished.

Had a cracking day yesterday, the courgette cake turned out yummy. It's the Nigella recipe, it was really easy to make and nice and light.

I've got a stinky cold today with swollen glands, so I've yet to make it out of bed Blush. The second cold in two weeks, which is a bit pants.

EeyoreIsh · 22/09/2013 11:07

meetings = meantime. Sorry!

misskatamari · 22/09/2013 12:12

Well done in the cake Eeyore - I'm glad it was yummy! Really hope our colds shift soon, having one seems even worse when preggo Hmm I'm gonna be knocking back the honey and lemon today.

Ooooh if anyone has a Morrisons nearby - chocolate oranges are on offer for 99p! Grin

Somanychanges · 22/09/2013 12:13

My DH gets to go to America next month with his new job. I know it's work but it kind of a holiday too if you have a family. He gets to see a new country, meet new people, stay in a nice hotel and have a break from me and the children. I am totally not jealous (waaaaaaaaah)

Luckily I am over the worst of HG so I will cope on my own. Might just be a bit lonely in the evening. I don't think I would like it if DH went away a lot though. My sis DH works away 4 weeks at a time she finds it hard but also says it makes them appreciate they time they have together more.

It's getting closer to scan date and I am getting even more impatient 9 days to go.

18+4

Well following the talk of roast chicken, I just HAD to have one today, although I was lazy and bought a ready roasted one from morrisons rotisserie with roast potatoes and just did some frozen veg and yorkie puds, so took all of 5 minutes to put together... Now thoroughly stuffed!

Not sure about anyone else but I can't eat as much now, tummy feels much fuller sooner...

CubanoHabana · 22/09/2013 12:29

How exciting champagne!

That's very exciting champagne Smile Lots of movement here this weekend too - bump woke up the minute I walked into cheesy hen do club last night! Either it was having a private party or banging on the wall to keep the noise down. Will try more soothing and sophisticated tunes tonight to see which it prefers.

Can sympathise with people whose other halfs are away a lot. My dh worked abroad for a year (regular trips home though) which was tough at the time but seems like a distant memory now (if that's any help...) Hope you manage to find a good balance that works for you in time for feb. Is there any formal requirement for employers to factor in any flexibikity so that both parents can share in childcare needs or is that a very kind perk from my employer?

littlestgirlguide · 22/09/2013 13:38

Think that's just your employer being kindsunflowered!

Grats on everyone finding out their team! Sorry I've been awol - not felt like talking to anyone :P

I'm also struggling to eat normal amounts of food, just seem to get full really quickly!

Nearly scan time for us, it's on friday :) Fingers crossed we'll find out gender!
