Time to start thread #17!

Spreadsheet here

Apparently (according to my latest Google search) - pregnancy hormones increase the amount of saliva you produce, therefore making it 'easier' to dribble at night! So we can blame it on the pregnancy Grin

Welcome heffalump! We have a spreadsheet with our mumsnet names, due dates and likely baby names here should you feel so inclined as to join us on it/have a nosey at what the rest of us are expecting/when/name ideas!

2 days and 2 hours of work left to go... Roll on 5.30pm on Thursday!

That's weird - this link to the spreadsheet is better

Well I've done absolutely nothing today on my first day off. DP will not be impressed :o

cazboldy · 03/09/2013 15:44

I am feeling really tired, even though i slept well last night.

Just back from taking my 4 youngest and my niece and nephew to a nearby farm for a youth training day, and have been on my feet all day, and helped with the bbq lunch etc. Was fun, but am soooo tired now, and all achey from standing for so long.

Serious My dd1 turned just before being born, but dd2 came out face up, in the bath, with me on my hands and knees with the mw just arriving and running up the stairs.

Only thing i woulds say is that I didn't have proper contractions. With both I had a bad back ache, and a really heavy feeling, once dd1 turned I had 5 contractions and she was born, so happened very quickly, although I had suspected what was going on, and mw was there.

With dd2, It felt like someone was wringing my legs like a dishcloth (sorry only way I can describe it) and hurt like a chinese burn! I had a few contractions, but nothing strong or regular, until I suddenly felt like I needed to push! Mw had rung me (it was the day I was due, and she had to pass my house on her way to work) I said I felt funny, and was in the bath, and she said "I'm on my way", and as I said arrived as dd2 was arriving!

This time they said to ring a soon as I suspect anything to give them the heads up!

cuillereasoupe · 03/09/2013 16:03

Our baby will be bilingual French-English seriousstuff, DP is French. I'm trying to work out how to get Cbeebies on our telly ATM.

MotherOfNations · 03/09/2013 16:23

Dd2 was fluent in both English and Kurdish by 2 1/2. Having a second language certainly didn't affect her speech development in any way. Her dad spoke to her in Kurdish all the time and we had Kurdish tv on throughout the day.
Me and her dad seperated shortly after her 4th birthday and because she didn't have someone to speak Kurdish with daily she gradually lost it all together. She's almost 11 now and barely knows any Kurdish.

I think apart from taking the kids to school and hospital appointments I am going to stay hone until Eliana arrives. I'm completely exhausted after my trip into town today.

Welcome back to all the lurkers. Heffalump like spark says it could be your blood pressure is low. I have naturally low blood pressure that is even lower during pregnancy and have had fainting spells too.

Tarlia · 03/09/2013 16:23

SeriousStuff where will the third language be coming from?

Umla if I were you I'd not speak Spanish to baby as this can confuse things even more. You should ideally only speak your mother tongue directly to children, or family language when talking together. I've many expat friends here who are monolingual at home, when baby starts nursery at 10 months they do just fine and pick up the language. It does have a delaying effect ie I'm sure most other 2.7 on this thread are fully conversational, but they do get there and he comes out with so many new words each day, knows all colours in English and can count go 5, so he is 'slow' if you know what I mean. Exposing kids to language at a young age is such a gift as it opens pathways which will not close.

char so funny about marrying NCT dad :D

badger that's exactally how you should have spent your first DS free ML day.

Tarlia · 03/09/2013 16:24

*isn't 'slow'

Tarlia · 03/09/2013 16:26

cuilli have you considered getting Netflix or just watching things on YouTube? You can find full shows on there and if you have Apple TV even better as can make it project from YouTube into main tv.

SeriousStuff · 03/09/2013 16:31

char1eston I'm dribbling a lot too. If I have a nap, I wake up with my hair stuck to my face and cushion because of the moisture - euck!

You've reminded me of some of my dreams too - I dreamt that I met Desmond Tutu last week!

PseudoBadger · 03/09/2013 16:35

Thank you Tarlia!

sisteroutlaw · 03/09/2013 16:46

Ah yes umlauf, Hitchcock's an Alfred not an Albert. Doh! DP would not be impressed by such an error. Anyway - Hitchcock's quite a good source for names: our cat's called Marnie. Might look at box set again.

Thanks for the thumbs up on Ray! My DM loves it as does another friend. Will reinstate on my list. What middle name would work with it?

Got a Hmm look from colleague for getting up again (after 90 mins sitting...) in a bid not to do the jerk nod off.

Pseudo I second that as the best way to spend your first ML day.

Bring on home time...

Umlauf · 03/09/2013 16:50

Ray works really well as a middle name with lots of the names you like, so Aldous Ray Surname Or Benedict Ray Surname. I think it also depends on the syllables in your surname. My brother and my mum both go by their middle names, in the case of my brother just because the order sounded better with his actual name in the middle.

I've got the chickpea curry on the go! I can't remember whose recipe it was, I think shirehobbit ? Anyway, I've added too much salt, any ideas what I can add to dilute the salt? Sugar??!

PseudoBadger · 03/09/2013 16:54

Ds's middle name is Raymond :)

SeriousStuff · 03/09/2013 16:55

Tarlia we were thinking of finding a Spanish playgroup, so when DC gets to playgroup age, it would be a good way of introducing a new language. Two of my sisters speak Spanish as a third and fourth language so at least someone would know what was going on! And it would be a great way for me and DH to learn a third language too.

SeriousStuff · 03/09/2013 16:57

And thanks Caz - maybe a possible quick birth is the silver lining then?!

Shirehobbit · 03/09/2013 16:58

It wasn't my recipe, Umlauf - maybe Orangeblossom?

MotherOfNations · 03/09/2013 17:00

A portato added to the pot should soak up some of the Saltiness Umlauf.

Sparkeleigh · 03/09/2013 17:06

Oh, that was mine umlauf, umm, could you double up the chickpeas? That would dilute it a bit...

TheFalconsmistress · 03/09/2013 17:08

Back from scan and she is HEAD DOWN Grin

She is sort of in a question mark shape. She is measuring 41 weeks so following her 4 weeks over curve they are not worried at all. They have assured me i will have an actively managed third stage and I can labour in the water Grin Grin really hoping for good news for you too warlin and flyer xx

doobeedee · 03/09/2013 17:09

Wow. I can't believe how many posts there have been since I posted this morning. Umlauf, yes that's right, 36+1 but I reckon that's wrong. Just had my 36 week appointment. Got weighed for the first time since booking. Had put on 1 stone 4 pounds so pretty happy with that. Of course, I'll probably balloon in the next few weeks! She also felt the baby's position for the first time and confirmed that it is head down. I'll probably find it quite difficult to name check a lot on here as I only use the iPhone app which makes it difficult to look back! I'll try though. How can I join the Facebook group? Is it a hidden group?

Umlauf · 03/09/2013 17:10

I have a jar of chickpeas left and DH is bringing potatoes with him on his way home! What do u do, just put in a whole

Umlauf · 03/09/2013 17:10

Potato? Do I take it out or just add it to the recipe? Thanks!!

Shirehobbit · 03/09/2013 17:12

Brilliant news, Falcon - you were due a change of luck!

Smitten1981 · 03/09/2013 17:25

Good news Falcon!

My mum came over this afternoon And I mentioned the WC jab fiasco. She said I had a WC vaccination when I was younger so I should have the antibodies anyway. Suppose I'd better Google it and see if it needs topping up or if you're set if you've already has the jab.
