Fox, New Look is a steaming pile of shit. That's not snobbery; that's the truth. Everything is nasty and cheap and falls to bits. Never tried bump bands, but some swear by 'em. Are they to support the bump like support tights are for varicose veins?

Mummy, your cakefest sounds nice, but I hate raspberries. So sour!

FoxMulder · 01/09/2013 17:42

But it doesn't have to last long in this case, so I'm still tempted.

I think bump bands are just to cover the fact that you're walking round with your trousers undone.

Raspberries aren't supposed to be sour when they're right!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 01/09/2013 17:48

I have some new look maternity jeans and they're so comfy, though the leg lengths are a tad variable. I also got some bump bands in the sale. They're really handy if you're wearing a shorter top. And I quite like the feeling of something tight in my tummy

I love raspberries. So much. I could eat them till the cows came home. I've got a thing for sour at the moment.

How on earth am I going to make my friends' wedding cakes next weekend? Bleurgh.

PramQueen1971 · 01/09/2013 17:49

Thank you for straightening me out on all three issues. You're right about cheap and nasty shit..it's not for long, is it? I'd hate to walk around with my trousers undone and just something to cover it. I'd feel even poorer than I already am.

apprenticemamma · 01/09/2013 17:50

pram my apologies! I'll take a trip to Greg's tomorrow for some proper peh cuisine...

FoxMulder · 01/09/2013 18:04

Oh yeah, I guess bump bands would cover gap between t-shirt and trousers too. Hmmm. I have problems in this department in the first place what with aforementioned gigantism issues.

FrankelInFoal · 01/09/2013 18:05

Sadly not Pram - military

FoxMulder · 01/09/2013 18:05

I've been walking around with my trousers undone for a few weeks already, but have been feeling too rough to care!

rosyryan · 01/09/2013 18:08

Ugh. For the last two nights DH has made the most minging dinners. I'm going to have to man up and start cooking again :(

all round. I am all arse behind due to work blocking the thread on porn grounds! One thing to say though. Greggs Belgian buns. Oh yes.

Charingcrossbun · 01/09/2013 18:24

Hi ladies,
Went and stayed with a friend this weekend who is due in November, has perfect basketball bump and ran around after her toddler the whole time. Made me very like a chubby not very pregnant person who was being pathetic..... :(
Think I have Sunday night back to work blues!

LyraSilvertongue · 01/09/2013 18:41

I've just had a pub roast with DP. I ate all the beige bits and made him eat all my green and orange bits. I really can't face veg at all atm but I still love fruit so I'm sure I'll be ok.
We've spent all day shopping for presents for his family and I'm exhausted.
What's everyone up to this evening?

PramQueen1971 · 01/09/2013 18:44

Charing, I'm sorry but, who the heck are you? Smile

Apprentice, what is 'peh' cuisine?

Frank, I am only marginally less impressed. Mine sells posh tea and biscuits

LyraSilvertongue · 01/09/2013 18:44

Oh and I was very pleased to be able to fit in my skinnies this morning but sadly only the stretchy ones. And I can only get the belt to the first notch. I should admit defeat but I just can't bring myself to buy maternity clothes just yet. I'm still in denial. I seriously keep forgetting there's a baby in there. There's something wrong with my brain.

PramQueen1971 · 01/09/2013 18:47

Rosy, what are Belgian buns, pliz?

Hiya, Lyra. I am delighted to report that, tonight Matthew I will be mostly watching an hour-long episode of Corrie (scheduled to replace the hour lost on Friday due to footie, cue abject apoplexy in my house that night) whilst shovelling bucketloads of my home made spag bol down me neck.

PramQueen1971 · 01/09/2013 18:49

I don't want to hear ANY MORE talk of folks fitting into their skinnies, pliz. It's in the mumsnet talk guidelines that 14-week thinness is not to be discussed.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/09/2013 18:49

Sounds nice, Prammy. I used to be addicted to Corrie, EastEnders and Home and Away but I gave them all up cold turkey. I decided that between them they were eating up too much of my evenings so rather than choose one they all had to go.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/09/2013 18:50

I have about 10 pairs and can only get into one. I'm sure that one's on its way out too pretty soon so fear not.

MummyPig24 · 01/09/2013 18:53

The raspberries weren't sour, they were lovely.

My nans sister and brother in law came over so we went over to have lunch with them. My nan had done coronation chicken, Cajun chicken, cold meats, salad, new potatoes, it was lovely but I can only eat a little bit at the moment so I can't actually fully appreciate any meal.

I haven't bought maternity clothes or bras yet. I haven't gained weight but soon my tummy will be popping out and I kind of feel maternity clothes will make me look better, pregnant rather than chubby!

apprenticemamma · 01/09/2013 18:55

pram ...'peh' is the local speak (Dundee) for pie..

Coolhand · 01/09/2013 19:05

Have been catching up on all the food-related chat.

No Greggs in NI. Chips and gravy are certainly sold in the Chip Shop but I'm a salt and vinegar girl and I really want some right now. Damn you all - may have to send DH on a mission.

Not much of a pie fan but DS seems to like them so been eating a few more. Nomaybe was it you who said you made a great chicken and leek pie - what's your recipe?

Sorry Pram but I'm not a fan of the DM - think it reads like lazy journalism.

In other news, my back is really bothering me. Have the ball and support pillows out. Seems ridiculously early for this!

Sarahb8990 · 01/09/2013 19:10

With relation to not fitting in trousers anymore, have any of you tried using bobbles to 'button' up? Iv found aslong as you a pair where the zip doesn't come down on its own, it's great. Iv found maternity trousers are way too loose on me atm so it's a good short term fix for me Smile

Imeg · 01/09/2013 19:14

Please stop talking about Greggs: I live in the middle of nowhere a loooong way from the nearest Greggs and now I want one...

Judging by the pregnancy rate in the teenagers I work with (which was a little frustrating during the years when we were trying without success...), maternity wear is just right for the New Look demographic....

Pram, husband's condition, if the gene is passed on, can cause a wide spectrum of severity of effects in both hands and feet, but I suppose some of them could be described as 'clawed hands'. In terms of what can be seen and when I suppose we will just go to the scan tomorrow and take it from there. CVS would be possible but wouldn't tell us about the severity so I'm not sure there's much point.

FrankelInFoal · 01/09/2013 19:15

Is anyone elde looking into pregnancy exercise classes? I've just found an antenatal yoga class near me so may look into it. I've been pretty active with my dancing in recent years, but can't see me keeping it up to a level that will maintain my fitness!

FrankelInFoal · 01/09/2013 19:17

Belgian Buns warning this is a link to the Greggs website Wink

Imeg · 01/09/2013 19:21

PS Jolleigh and anyone else worried about internal scans, I've survived two internal scans, which I was dreading as I am generally very shy about that sort of thing, but the staff were very professional and good at making me feel as comfortable as possible in the circumstances. They were definitely less unpleasant than the internal exam/speculum I had at the GP.
