Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

OP posts:

Oh FFS, woo hoo, not woo boo! Confused

homebakedflapjack · 30/08/2013 01:39

Yes, please! Terrible insomnia - does anybody else get this?!

LongTailedTit · 30/08/2013 03:15

Um, yes! This is my gazillionth night if being up at stupid o'clock, but sadly it doesn't have anything to do with pregnancy, just really really tedious insomnia.
I've been having stitch-like twangs this evening, can't remember this stuff from being pg with DS, early pregnancy makes paranoid over-thinkers of us all!

Off to bed now...

McBaby · 30/08/2013 03:39

Insomnia over here. Always been a rubbish sleeper but since DD was borna year ago its really improved until 3 weeks ago now I can miss a while nights sleep.

But I am so exhausted last few days and have been going to bed at 8.30 and its a bit better only awake for an hour in the night.

Cupcake11 · 30/08/2013 08:10

Really feeling bad for you gals with insomnia. M just unable to have a lie in which I'm finding hard enough! (I know, I'm going to have a shock)
Yesterday at work my index finger was twitching uncontrollably on and off all day - has anyone else has this? At first I was really worried thinking I had the beginnings of some neurological disorder (I watch too much House) but after a quick look on Dr Google I found that it can be a symptom of lack of calcium in pregnancy. Anyone ever heard of this?
Congrats and welcome to flapjack too!

McBaby · 30/08/2013 09:12

Not sleeping is not made any easier by having a baby that thinks 5.50 is a suitable time to wake up.

Managed to speak to someone sensible at the hospital yesterday and get a booking appointment and scan sorted for 7th and 9th sep. I finally will find out his many weeks I am :)

TwoCrazyKids · 30/08/2013 09:47

Spoke too soon, the tiredness/crying for no reason has hit me with a bang! Pure exhausted this morning :(

Maccrackles, my dc are 3 & 4.

PixieBumbles · 30/08/2013 10:24

Welcome flapjack!

So far I'm having no problems dropping off but my sleep is very restless with lots of anxiety related dreams. I jumped out of bed in a panic in the early hours of yesterday morning as I had an incredibly vivid dream that I was bleeding heavily. Fortunately all was well Smile. Still exhausted though.

I went to the doctor's yesterday and saw a different GP as my usual one is on maternity leave. He was absolutely lovely and very excitable! He gave me a pack of marketing shite incredibly useful pregnancy information and advised me to keep taking my (relatively low dosage) anti-depressants as while there is a low risk of harming the baby he'd rather see a happy and healthy mum-to-be than see someone struggling to cope and barely functioning, which would also put the baby at risk. The surgery have passed my details onto the community midwifery team so they will contact me at some point in the next few weeks to arrange my booking appointment.

homebakedflapjack · 30/08/2013 10:31

I have terrible insomnia too. I just can't get comfy. Pleased it isn't just me! I have ordered a pregnancy pillow from amazon, which is a bit presumptuous but I ordered it last night at 1 in the morning after thrashing around for ages.

NannyPlumForPM · 30/08/2013 11:07

Insomnia is rubbish!

Is anyone else getting comments on their increasing boob size yet??

Mine seem to have shot up and are straining to get out of workwear Blush, also incredible tiredness Angry . Good to hear others are experiencing the symptoms too - DH thinks I'm being a drama queen Hmm

I have updated the stats with my bits and pieces (edd 5th May give or take, and DC #2)

Off on hols on Tuesday - cracking timing Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 30/08/2013 11:07

Oh god - went a bit smileyface mad on that post!

LoveWine · 30/08/2013 13:31

For those of you that have had your first GP appointment - do they actually do anything when you go in or do they just give you leaflets. Just wanted to know if they actually do any tests - pregnanyc test, rune, blood, etc?

Cupcake11 · 30/08/2013 14:25

Lovewine, when I went to the gp all she did was make a note of it on my records and gave me a number for the midwife Hmm

PixieBumbles · 30/08/2013 15:16

LoveWine, other than discussing my current meds (my main reason for actually visiting the GP as opposed to just phoning them for the midwife's contact details) he just told me to make sure I took folic acid and gave me the leaflets and a form to be handed in at the surgery reception for referral to the midwife.

McBaby · 30/08/2013 15:19

I didn't bother going to the GP I emailed him and told him so he could do a referral.

LoveWine · 30/08/2013 15:21

Thanks cupcake and Pixie, I suspected as much. It's strange that in the UK they don't even do a test to confirm the pregnancy. My appointment is on Tuesday so will see how it goes, but I'm guessing it won't much different to yours.

Supercalafraga · 30/08/2013 17:22

Oh goodness. symptoms are upping their game here Confused

5+5

LongTailedTit · 30/08/2013 18:33

I need to see my GP to check some minor meds, I've stopped taking them but would like to carry on the treatment if they're ok.
No idea when the midwives will get in touch, I guess I just wait to hear back?!
I'm getting impatient already, so daft!

Reeeeally need to sort my insomnia out, I'm shattered every morning and just stay on the sofa as long as DS will let me. No fun for either of us, last night was a 4am bedtime, with DS up at 8.
DH is away tonight, so I intend to make the bed up with lovely fresh bedclothes and starfish all night! I sleep so much better on my own, I long for a spare room...

5+2

Cupcake11 · 30/08/2013 18:34

What symptoms are you having Super? I'm worrying about my lack of them Confused

bouncysmiley · 30/08/2013 19:11

How is it possible that my clothes are already tight? I need to get hold of some of those waist expanders. Just dug all my old maternity clothes out of storage. They are big but OMG SO comfy! My Jeans wont button at the top and I just feel like an elephant. I know it's not the baby but just feel rubbish!

PostmanPatPat · 30/08/2013 19:27

Hi All, can I join? Got my bfp last night, thought I'd better test after vomiting twice at work - can't believe its started so early this time. Felt fine today thankfully. I'm due 5th May with dc2.

bugoven · 30/08/2013 19:36

Hello Maybies. Can I join please?
I got my bfp Tuesday 27/8 and LMP was 19/7. I have longer cycles like Isean so am taking my EDD to be 2/5/14 and this adds up with my hcg level and CBD "pregnant 2-3". Hoping it'll say 3+ soon and am happy to spend £5 a day being reassured ( 2 for £10 in Asda atm)
Like Ally I have also had some brown discharge and am trying to stay positive and am waiting for a result on Monday which I am hoping will show my hcg levels increasing. Fingers crossed for us both.
After 20 months of TTC and this is much wanted CD1 although I have a weird feeling it's twins and that would tally with the implantation bleeding pattern I've had. In reality boy/girl/twins whatever I just want to be a mum.
Like Cupcake I am booked in for an early scan at 8 weeks. I have waited and worries so long I am allowing myself this bit of impatience, if only for the sanity of my loving and amazingly supportive OH.

Symptoms so far are huuuuge boobs - I noticed I had grown out of my bra and was rocking the "4 boobs" look only to discover it was the biggest one I own!! This was my first clue! Also a very interesting white skin pigmentation, sun burnt face despite applying sun cream, nausea if I let myself get hungry and aversion to sweetcorn which used to be my favourite thing!!

This is so exciting and I hope to get to know you all over the next 9 months =)

bugoven · 30/08/2013 19:38

Oh - 5+0 (ish)

thistlelicker · 30/08/2013 19:39

Hi there! I got my bfp two days ago! Ive had no af since 30th June but my clear blue says 2-3 very confused

homebakedflapjack · 30/08/2013 21:58

I am SO TIRED, but know I won't be able to sleep! And my boobs HURT! And today I had a headache - ow.

I'm very happy to be pregnant, honestly! Grin
