Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

OP posts:

Definitely don't worry MrsMummy, as others have said, even if your egg was fertilised by CD15 it would just have been a little bundle of cells floating in your uterus, with no actual contact to your blood stream, and so no possible ill effects from booze at that point.
I wish I'd known this myself as when we first started TTC, we were on honeymoon, and I stopped drinking all the inclusive cocktails because I thought it could hurt, but in retrospect I could've got drunk as a skunk Wink

moominleigh94 · 06/09/2013 08:46

Big hugs to everyone with worries or appointments today.... ah what the heck, big hugs and Cake to everyone Grin

I didn't drink at all throughout the summer... I was planning on saving myself for freshers week. Well that's gone down the drain now Grin not that I mind Wink

thistlelicker · 06/09/2013 09:00

I'm waiting to be seen in ante natal clinic - very surreal! Feel very sick and drinking plenty!!!

Fanta helped last night with the sicky feelings.... anyone else got something that helps cure the nausea?
xxxx Love to you all and your mini bumps xxxxx

impatientlywaiting · 06/09/2013 10:12

Hurrah on your scan Thistlelicker. Is that about how far along you guessed yourself? Or more/less.

5+6 today

moominleigh94 · 06/09/2013 10:12

ThePFJ Lollipops for nausea! I've not been able to eat today, usually when it comes to breakfast I'm on it like a car bonnet but right now, eating is the last thing I want to do. All I can do is suck lollipops (chupa chups ones are great, I've got apple ones and cola ones).

AliOh · 06/09/2013 10:16

Aww good news thistle :) we have our first docs appointment today, very keen to get things moving but I don't think they will say much apart from refer us to the midwife! I'm finding anything salty is helping with nausea so been nibbling rice crackers, popcorn or tortilla chips (only bits at a time) interestingly I've taken a liking to tinned tuna (iHATE fish!!) but discovered I can only have a max of 2 tins a week! Boooo! :(

PixieBumbles · 06/09/2013 10:29

Jacobs cream crackers for me!

Choppa · 06/09/2013 11:02

Great news on the first scan of the group thistle.

I have just cried watching Beauty and the Beast...it's going to be a long wait till May...

X

wm3010 · 06/09/2013 11:18

I've been eating Ritz biscuits, they seem to help (or maybe just take my mind off it as I'm too busy eating)!

Congrats Thistle, that must make it all seem much more real!

mrsmummytobe · 06/09/2013 11:30

Thanks nessalina & everyone for the support, feeling lots better now :)

Good luck to everyone with scans or appointments today!

mrsmummytobe · 06/09/2013 12:13

Btw has anyone else found their sense of smell has got much stronger recently? It seemed to happen to me almost overnight, but I just walked past the canteen kitchens at my school (I'm a teacher) and the smell actually made me nearly throw up! Yuck!

moominleigh94 · 06/09/2013 12:33

Yes mrsmummytobe , so much stronger! Smells seem to stay in my nose for longer too... particularly horrible ones; absolutely awful smell outside local Iceland shop yesterday stayed in my nose until just before bed, made the sickness worse.

Got a three hour car journey this evening, to get to Birmingham for the run tomorrow... going to be uncomfortable. Back ache, sickness and needing the loo every 10 minutes Hmm But I get a maccys at the end of it Grin

AliOh · 06/09/2013 12:39

Oooh, I fancy a maccys now moomin :) haha, I keep panicking because my symptoms are tending to disappear in the morning but coming back slowly by lunchtime and then full force in the evening - is it normal for them to come and go? Find it weird that boobs are sore one minute and not the next! Feels like I'm imagining the whole thing!

LongTailedTit · 06/09/2013 12:54

Yup, totally normal, last time my nausea turned up mid afternoon and stayed til the evening.
This time however it's all over the place - felt ok for a while, then have felt sick since I woke up today, ugh! Haven't managed to eat breakfast for three days now, which is not helping as hunger deaf makes the nausea worse.
I have my fingers very tightly crossed that I don't get vomitty this time, was only actually sick three times last pg, thank goodness. Nausea is bad enough, but I find being sick quite upsetting.

Allypallyjelly · 06/09/2013 13:05

good luck with the run/walk/jog tomorrow moomin
mrsmummy i wouldn't worry too much about that - they always say you conceive at the point when u are most relaxed. i was laying low at home with a terrible kidney infection plus kickass antibiotics from 1dpo so if anything that would be worse than a cocktail or two!
thistle congrats on the scan! hope you can relax a little now with a good outcome of the scan

re announcing the news, have just called my nan who is 90 yrs old and she is over the moon, the told me that was the best news she had for a long while now awww xxx

moominleigh94 · 06/09/2013 13:12

OH's parents are back in half an hour... feeling sick and I'm not sure if it's pregnancy or nerves Hmm

ThunderbumsMum · 06/09/2013 13:54

I hope it goes well moomin. Remember that it will be a shock for them but your parents love you and want you to be happy. They will come round and support you, even if their first reaction may not be exactly what you hoped for.

impatientlywaiting · 06/09/2013 14:35

After spending my pregnancy so far worrying I didn't have enough symptoms, I'm now not very appreciative of the ones I do have. Started to get really dizzy and light headed, even sitting down. Find that it's worse coming to the end of my working day. I spend half of my week in front of a computer and sometimes when I've got an hour left of work I need to finish just so I can have a lie down. My flexi time is plummeting. Also feeling fairly nauseous.

Trying not to complain too much though, it's nice to know that I have something going on inside of me and I'm not just making it up.

Halfbaked · 06/09/2013 15:13

Hi can I join?
Due 4th May with DC2, I have a 3 year old DD. feeling a little nervous as I had a mc in May, but feel much more positive this time.
Got my booking appt on 18th, a little annoying as I work p/t as a teacher and its on one of the days I work, but they only have booking appts on one day. I really don't want to tell work yet.
I'm feeling queasy and exhausted, I am relying on cbeebies to get through the afternoon, justified by the fact DD has been at preschool this morning so will have been running about like a lunatic there!

impatientlywaiting · 06/09/2013 16:25

Welcome half baked, a few of us on this thread have gone through previous miscarriages too unfortunately. I think irrelevant of our histories we are all a bit nervous and looking forward to the 12 week mark.

ThePFJ · 06/09/2013 17:30

Welcome Halfbaked..... I have had previous mc's so you are not alone there.... but I am sure we'll all be patting our christmas bumps soon :)

moominleigh94 · 06/09/2013 17:45

Telling my parents didn't go well at all. Knew it wouldn't. Feel a bit rubbish right now. Disappointed them and they want me to have an abortion.
