Ok, I can't see a May thread in here so I guess I will start one! According to the NHS due date calculator my EDD is actually 30th April but I think that makes me more likely to be having a May baby anyway!

Am feeling very tentative about starting this thread as I had a mc in June and it's very early days for this one but...anyone want to come and chat through these nerve-wracking first few days?

And Flowers PFJ, eight miscarriages is unimaginable. Glad to hear things are going well so far with this one.

thistlelicker · 04/09/2013 08:28

Aghhhhh lots of may-bies :-)

mrsmummytobe · 04/09/2013 10:39

Congratulations AliOh! I've had those exact symptoms for the past few days. I keep waking up around 4 or 5 then lie away until the alarm goes off, then feel exhausted in the day!! Just got my bfp yesterday so I'm still getting used to being pg!

mrsmummytobe · 04/09/2013 10:39

*awake not away!

Allypallyjelly · 04/09/2013 11:07

Congrats new BFPers ali and mrsmummy and anyone I've missed off! Short term memory prob!!

AliOh · 04/09/2013 11:39

Thanks everyone! First day back at work today since bfp, keep getting waves of nausea and running to the bathroom, not sure how long I will be able to keep this a secret for :) I'm so bloated I feel like I've got a bump already :) (wishful thinking!) which of you are working and how are you coping?!

thistlelicker · 04/09/2013 11:53

I work full time I. A hospital. Very physical job have to be
Very careful!

Jammybean · 04/09/2013 11:59

Congratulations everyone. Can i join? Smile

Got my BFP last week, not sure if I'm excited or absolutely petrified. I've been eating loads of baked beans which I normally hate. And I'm completely shattered, I can't remember feeling like this with my first. AliOh our EDD are the same!

AliOh · 04/09/2013 12:33

Congratulations jammybean :) nice to have someone with the same EDD :) thistlelicker, I'm the same have a very physical job so I have to be careful, I'm thinking I will have to tell them in a few weeks or I'll run out of excuses!

ThunderbumsMum · 04/09/2013 13:48

jelly I am much sicker with boys, I have no symptoms with girls. That's probably not helpful... I hope you're feeling better now, sickness is awful with a little one to look after.

bushprincess · 04/09/2013 14:52

Hi Maybies!!

Do you mind if I quietly sneak in and join you?! bfp this morning and calculator says EDD14th May, this will be DC1...

Being reminded by DH not to get too excited at this early stage... but hard to stop grinning!!

Hi mrsmummy so good to see a familiar 'face' here

Didn't think I had any symptoms but now realising that the insommnia that's plagued me for the last 4 nights is probably the biggy! Damn! hugs to everyone else in here suffering - it's rubbish!

Interested to hear peoples experience of their first GP appointment... I'm abroad at the moment (zimbabwe) so will be going private here, but am actually flying to the UK on thursday for a month.... was thinking about getting a first appointment while I was there but reading most of your experiences it seems that it might be a waste of time...hmmm... any thoughts on what I should do?

I suppose at least if I wait until I'm back here to see someone I'll be 8wks so maybe a slightly higher chance of it holding on in here!

Going to be so tough to keep tight lipped about it - lots of celebration times in this visit home so will have to think up some ingenious non-drinking excuses!

I thought the 2ww was hard, but seems like it's nothing compared to the 12ww!!!

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 04/09/2013 15:38

Ooh interesting Thunder. Have felt a bit better today. It definitely seems to be worse evening and overnight which is the opposite to last time.

Bush I didn't see anyone first time around until I was eight weeks gone, I don't think they can do much before then anyway.

thistlelicker · 04/09/2013 15:43

I was sent home today with back ache!! Spoke to go can only half paracetamol :-((

ThePFJ · 04/09/2013 16:19

I am having real trouble sleeping. Sooo restless. I hope tonight I collapse early with exhaustion!!!

I am so excited to be surrounded by so many Maybies :)

My uterus is still pinging away madly... but I am glad to have the reassurance that things are happening down there :)

Got to go.... Love and hugs xxxxx

biscuitnoodle · 04/09/2013 20:25

Bushprincess I saw my gp today and she referred me to the midwife. Maybe it will be better to see the local midwife?

mrsmummytobe · 04/09/2013 21:37

Hi bush, so happy you've come to join us! :)
I can't even get an appointment with my GP until 16th Sept then I'll have to be referred after that. I really can't wait to have the scan - wish I could have it earlier! It would just be so reassuring to know that everything is progressing as normal & the baby is healthy! Is anyone having a scan or being seen earlier than 12 weeks? This is my dc1 so it's all new to me! :)

Allypallyjelly · 04/09/2013 22:23

Hey great to hear more BFPs!!
Sigh I'm spotting light pink again and a little crampy so I'm getting a bit worried. Anyway at 6+2 also spotting?

ThePFJ · 04/09/2013 22:41

Hi all, my MW is getting me an early scan on the 24th... which will be week 7, as reassurance because of my previous losses. She isnt seeing me until the 30th though, for a one hour 1st time appointment, although I have her number and the MW team number for before then if I have any concerns..... She told me to google 'The pregnancy guide' from the gov/nhs which she says has got everything we need to know in it.... if that's any help to you bush ...
Other than that I have to sit tight and think good thoughts!!
My uterus feels like I have been doing sit-ups all day... slight nausea and I am SOOO tired!!
My goal is to get to the week 20 scan.. so I can find out what flavour baby we are getting!!!
xx Love to all xxx

moominleigh94 · 04/09/2013 22:57

Due end of April but may as well get myself in here too; heard first babies tend to go over :) very much a surprise baby as I'm 19 and about to start second year of a performing arts degree, but hey ho - I'm going to be a mommy :) hope it's ok if I post here?

ThePFJ · 04/09/2013 23:02

Hi moominleigh Congrats!!!! Hope you like cats! Grin - only kidding. My first baby was a week late, so I would agree with you on that one! I am jealous of your degree - I really wanted to do preforming arts... but my parents literally threatened to kill me.. so I did science..... Envy So enjoy it!! Smile

moominleigh94 · 04/09/2013 23:05

Thanks ThePFJ ... more of a dog person, but future SIL has just had two kittens and it may be hormones but I turned into a complete cooing mess when I saw them Grin

I'm loving it... got to meet with tutors when I go back to see what's going to happen. Going to ask that I continue the course and resit any modules I miss or fail over the summer rather than taking a year out, I'd go out of my mind with boredom. I'll just have to perform with a bump Grin

ThePFJ · 04/09/2013 23:08

I think performing with a bump will be really cool!!! Go for it! Grin

ThePFJ · 04/09/2013 23:09

And I love kittens.... they are soooo... soooo... awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

ThunderbumsMum · 04/09/2013 23:09

allypallyjelly I bled most of the way through my last pregnancy, sometimes fresh blood and sometimes brown. The baby died at 12 weeks but they looked at the scans and did tests on the baby and the bleeding was completely unrelated - the docs said that was definitely not a cause of the miscarriage. I think sometimes it can just happen like that but so long as there are no clots it is often ok. Hth
