Just a quick one.

DO NOT BUY TESCO NEWBORN SENSITIVE WIPES FOR YOUR BABIES.

I ran out of loo roll late last night and had them in for hospital bag suffice to say BURN BURN BURN!!!!!

legallyblond · 23/08/2013 20:07

Hey everyone, will catch up properly soon...

On the baby wipes front, best advice ever given to me was to always try taking your eye make up off with the baby wipe... If its too harsh for your eyes, it's too harsh for they're bum. Using they criteria, the only wipes we've stuck with were the huggies ones...

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 20:13

Huggies pure (beige packet) are the best. But I use cotton wool and water for ages on tiny bums.

Slightly off topic as I'm talkin toddlers not newborn but does anyone know if toddlers r prone too growth spurts as they approach age 3? Dd has been the same shoe size since last dec and same size clothes and for the last approx 6 days..... She is eating me out of house and home. I'm hungry, I'm hungry, I'm hungry, I'm hungry, and she's not even particularly after junk she wants sandwiches and more savoury type things

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 20:24

Also for wet wipes, I like the tesco or asda ones, not keen on huggies I find they tend too rip too easily I also quite like johnsons with aloe Vera ones xx

Flyer747 · 23/08/2013 20:29

Pseudo I bought the Huggies pure ones. They were on offer in boots a few weeks back, buy 1 get 2 free so I stocked up.

When you use cotton wool do you buy the balls? And without wanting to sound really dim do you just wet them and wipe the bum with them?

Wickedgirl · 23/08/2013 20:31

I use cotton wool and water for ages too........much kinder on their little bottoms.

These look good although I haven't yet used them water wipes. There was a sample in my Emma's diary pack

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 20:38

I think I bought the balls at first but then moved onto the large folded pack of cotton wool which I ripped up into smaller bits. I had a little bowl (which only clean cotton will went into), wet the wool and wiped.

Has anyone here considered reusable wipes? A couple of mums at my work have used cheeky wipes. One used them for everything including nappy changes and one just used them for faces and hands. I'm planning to use cloth nappies but can't get too worked up about disposable wipes, which are biodegradable anyway. I think I may be getting some cheeky wipes in my leaving gift hamper and can't decide whether I want to wipe a bum with them or not.

A lot of mums I know say you use cotton and water with the first and just wipes from the beginning when you're more relaxed with the second. If I can find a really gentle wipe I think I want to just do that. I don't like the feel of wet cotton balls.

MrsHoratioNelson · 23/08/2013 21:00

ana I've looked at those too - they look good. Reviews on here are good too.

ananikifo · 23/08/2013 21:16

Would you feel weird using a wipe on their bum, washing it, then using on their face? This is the debate in our office.

Tarlia · 23/08/2013 21:29

I will link you, flyer and hayley to those slowcooker groups on Facebook when I'm on the computer. The SC chicken satay was a big hit, even a very tired, grumpy 2 year old DS stopped his tantruming and cheered up.

ana sorry about your dental upset today, sounds like that purse made it all the more stressful than normal.

Nat it wouldn't surprise me, I'm sick of DS clothes at the moment. He is wearing the same tshirts this summer as he did last though some are slowly getting too small. His feet have suddenly grown too, so off to buy him some new shoes in the morning. They cost £60+ a pair here :O

We rate Huggies pure wipes too. I'm considering reuseable wipes for wet nappies and instead of cotton wool in the early days - I say reusable wipes, but what I'm really doing is buying a fleece blanket and and cutting it up. I like to add a drop of olive oil to the warm water, it really gets the sticky stuff off. I'm not sure about using the same wipes for bums and faces to be honest, I would worry that there may be a bit of cross contamination even after a good wash, but that could be me being clean OCD.

Haylebop12 · 23/08/2013 21:37

Thanks tarlia

My dd NEVER stops growing and that's NOT an understatement. As kids we always got measured on the pantry door at home, seen as mum n dad still live in the same house they do it with the grandchildren. Dd is as tall as I was at 6yr 4mo. She grew an inch from June to August and at the age of 4.6 wears age 6-7 bottoms and 7-8 tops. It's ridic!

Haylebop12 · 23/08/2013 21:43

How tall is your ds clapham?

I'm expecting dd to be a tall adult but if she doesn't stop soon she's going to be about 7ft!

Tarlia · 23/08/2013 21:45

Hayley your daughter is a string bean. Looks like she will end up with a fab figure at that rate, lucky thing!

ana cross posted your question about bums and faces with same wipes, though I already answered really. Just wanted to add, this may also be related to flannels/face cloths have always only been used on the face in my family, though I know lots of people use them all over.

ananikifo · 23/08/2013 21:48

Tarlia can I get a link to the Facebook groups, too?

I don't think it's OCD to feel strange about using wipes on bums and faces. My argument in the office has been, would you wipe your face with your underwear, even if you knew it had just been washed? Lots of people disagree though.

ananikifo · 23/08/2013 21:51

I think we keep cross posting. Smile

Also if my generous colleagues weren't getting me reusable wipes, and i really wanted to use them, I would probably be cutting up cheap washcloths or terry nappies to use as wipes.

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 21:56

Dd will be 3 on nov 1st and she is just short of 1meter

Haylebop12 · 23/08/2013 21:57

tarlia she's not skinny, she's pretty solid and family history would mean she would have to be pretty careful about food choices. Hope she doesn't end up like the honey monster! Haha!

Haylebop12 · 23/08/2013 21:59

nat we took dd to Camelot just over the age of 2, (think 2.2) we had to put her in the pushchair as she measured just over a meter and therefore wouldn't get in for free Blush

Pinkforboys · 23/08/2013 21:59

nat my DS still seems to save his growing for the Summer hols, and other Mums have said the same. He's 6 next week but been the same shoe size just about since Xmas! I'm hoping when I get him to the shoeshop next week he'll finally need a new size... So- yes, and don't worry. Growth & appetite spurts are common for years to come...

What's this FB group you guys refer to?!

sparkle you're my DueDate twin. 32w today. At last Grin

chick I'm on Clexane. Nightly dose every day til due. I am soooo over it, but IVF consultant says it's worth taking. At least the NHS now cover the cost. It was a £££ first few months!

Fellow shopoholics- Boots are doing a BH event with extra points when you spend over £50. Good time to stock up on nipple cream and nappies....

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 22:04

pink I'm hoping simular dd's summer shoes have all 'had it' so to speak to wanting to start buying more autumn/winter type shoes but reluctant too yet as I'm worried ill buy them and when she needs them need the next size but if I buy the next size they may be too big lol.

On the Wetwipe front I'm afraid to admit Im lazy and not very economical, ill be using disposable nappies and disposable wipes although with dd I used to buy tesco blue type j cloth and use one of them a day for hands and face when weaning her due to the excessive amount if wipes we used then just chuck them at the end of the day.

Does anyone have any thing nice planned for the bank holiday weekend? Xx

Pinkforboys · 23/08/2013 22:06

Aagh- restless legs and I'm not even in bed yet. And I've got my DVT socks on, or could that be the problem??
Throbbing varicose veins, twitching legs, acid reflux (just eaten a handful of almonds). I thought we were supposed to 'bloom' during pregnancy?!? Sad

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 22:10

Something terrible happened today...

My wedding ring got stuck on my finger.... I've had no problems up until now with it fitting and I thought it felt tight and when I tried to take it off it took a good 5 minutes of persuading too get it off :'( I feel naked without it!! I dont think my fingers look particularly swollen though

Is everyone else's engagement/eternity/wedding rings still fitting?

Flyer747 · 23/08/2013 22:13

Pink we have a private Facebook group called October 2013 babies. Not everyone is on it but those who are we share bump pictures, dc or dog pictures or both and just general stuff that we can't post on this thread.

GT kindly set it up and added us.

If you would like to join we can add you onto it.
