Looks like there's a real backlog here at the hospital. Bored already.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/08/2013 10:46

Hope the tests and scans go well and that those feeling rough are a bit better. I too didn't know that the upset tummy/vomiting/backache linked with labour could go on for weeks. Oh joy!

MoN even if your urine results are clear again surely they should be looking into a bleeding urethra?! I really hope you don't get fobbed off.

I slept really badly and have a sore back, also felt really sick this morning as baby was pressing hard against my stomach just after eating. Nothing like falcon though so now I feel like a wimp.

Quick trip to return some shopping and buy a waterproof sheet for our bed then got my whooping cough jab later. Then we are off to stay with DHs parents in the Cotswolds for the weekend for BILs birthday as soon as DH gets home and then straight to a dinner with friends on Sunday night. So I might not be around much. (Is it just me or do you start to wonder if people are off having their babies when they disappear for a while now?!)

Congratulations on the last day of work jelly. Like bluesnowfalcon mine seems a long long way away, just gearing up to go back to school after summer holidays.

Pinkforboys · 23/08/2013 10:47

pseudo I hope you've got the good BT lady. One of them didn't impress me much.... and oh, that MacDs, I've spent a disturbing amount of time in there these last 7 months! My excuse is that DS has had swimming lessons next door, but I fear DD is going to come out of the womb holding a Happy Meal...Grin

Kelly1814 · 23/08/2013 10:50

enjoy your mat leave jelly!

i too have enjoyed enlightening people about mat pay (or lack of it!) i live in a country where you get 6 weeks paid. after that you have to go back to work - IF you can negotiate more time off it is all unpaid!! completely unpaid! scary stuff.

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 10:56

Pink there's a lady who I think must be Sri Lankan who I remember from when I had DS. And there's an Irish lady. I've given blood to both so far this morning!

I've decided that after getting some food I'm going to go to the day unit and tell them my worries - hopefully with my history they will understand:

Swollen feet even if elevated
Swollen hands and feet overnight, poss face
Flashing lights this morning
Felt 'strange' yesterday 'not there'
Home BP measurements rising
Poss reduction movements

yay rockchick so glad things are going well for you!!
I've had a much looser tummy than normal for a few weeks now already. mw said it could be many things and baby isn't showing signs of coming, but its not nice!!
I'm enjoying a nice time away at my parents, but missing dp so much!! went to jojo mamen bebe in harrogate yeaterday and got some sleep crop top style nursing bras to wear round the.house so I have some support and somewhere to put breast pads but won't always need to wear a bra!!Grin

MotherOfNations · 23/08/2013 10:58

Haha Jelly I thought the same. I think my thought process was helped along by the big yellow smiling face on the posters.

I'm not letting them fob me off this time Orange. I've had enough.

Warlin · 23/08/2013 11:02

Morning all.

Rockchick fab news, so pleased or you x

falcon that must have been scary. Hope you and sparkleigh get better soon.

I have workmen here today and they are pissing me off. They have been letting me down loads and I told them to come at 11 as they just think they can show up when they want and ill be here. They know I have a baby and I told them 11 would suit as he naps. I had literally just put him down, they showed up at 10.30, the dog was barking, ds awake again....grrrrr. Now they are in 2 vans which are taking up the whole drive and the tesco delivery will be here soon. Plus I've just hoovered and they have come in with dirty feet. So bloody rude :(

Sorry to the insomnia sufferers. Lack of sleep is so hard.

clapham yay to your neighbour. Hopefully she can be a friend for you. I have always been lucky that my friends are in baby boom mode so there is always someone with a baby to do things with.

Hope everyone has a comfortable enough day

Warlin · 23/08/2013 11:05

Good luck Mon and shire

jelly not long now...eek..jealous!

bluesnowfalcon · 23/08/2013 11:22

Thanks claphamma I will give it a go later x

claphammama · 23/08/2013 11:29

OMG sorry kelly but what barbaric country do you live in...? The US by any chance...? 6 weeks and back to work is cruel!

those with upset tummies - are you taking any iron? This is the side effect I had in my last pregnancy. It makes some people constipated and some people the opposite... for me it was the opposite and so bad that I stopped taking it after a week (but I was only borderline, not pronounced anemic)

pseudo I would also get checked if I were you. It's our right, we pay for it and we are all too shy about using up NHS precious time...

warlin how annoying about the builders. So disruptive

orange enjoy the West Country and beware of MIDGES Grin

It's dead in the office today... totally DEAD... out of about 25 of us there are 6 of us here... one went to the gym, one is reading the newspaper and 2 disappeared somewhere... I may disappear too as we need to start thinking about DP's birthday present (3rd Sept) so not long to go!

pinkbuttons · 23/08/2013 11:44

Hi ladies, just spent a very long time trying to catch up on the last couple of days and unfortunately have forgotten who said what. Have had family over so been very busy including a trip to cadbury world yesterday which was amazing but exhausting.

Hope those of you feeling ill are better. Ive woken up every night the past 3 nights to be sick between 12-3 and also had a very upset tummy (wont go into details) only seems to be at night though so not sure if is body getting really or just babies position, dont think Im ill as feeling generally fine in the day. Desperately hoping this isnt going to go on until I give birth.

jelly Congratulations on last day of work, how exciting!! Have you got any lovely plans for this first week off?

Congratulations rockchick so happy for you and thank you for coming back and letting us know. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy xx

roofio I loved those crop top nursing bras after having DS, theyre great for sleeping in too to hold pads to stop leaking, without being uncomfortable. I actually dug mine out this week as have started to have to wear them at night.

Also very impressed by all of you cooking for your freezers already, can you share some inspiration please, we lived off frozen lasagne and bolognaise for 2 weeks after DS was born and would love to be more creative this time , what else freezes well?

Sending Brew to all Ive missed, hope everyones looking forward to a lovely bank holiday weekend Smile

Shootingstarsandcomets · 23/08/2013 11:53

Congrats rockchick, I had a missed miscarriage with my first pregnancy so know how rotten that is.
Good luck with all the hospital stuff today.
I'm getting rather depressed about ds and his sleep. I must have been up 10 times with him last night and my longest stretch of sleep 1.5 hours Sad. I don't know what to do with him but its just so awful and I just keep stressing about what's going to happen in 8 weeks when I have a newborn to cope with as well. DH has offered to do him tonight so I am going up to the spare room so that's something.
Sorry for the moan.

MrsHoratioNelson · 23/08/2013 11:55

After today, I will be into single figures of working days left Grin

(BTW, I am a regular, but have NC'd)

Also, just for fun Hmm I counted up how many pregnancy symptoms I had had over the last 34 weeks. 33 different (sometimes contradictory) symptoms Shock

BowlFullofJelly · 23/08/2013 12:04

I have sister, bil and neice down for a week - neice wants to do lots of things like London Zoo and Legoland - I had a quiet word with my sister last night to let her know I'm suffering now if I over do it, so it may not be an action packed week! Then 4 weeks off with DS which I am looking forward to, although nervous about keeping him occupied without overdoing it. Then hopefully baby will be here!

Think the reality of having a baby and a 3 year old is starting to sink in. What am I going to do with him while I am breastfeeding for 8 hours a day Confused.

Sorry to all of those feeling crap - just think, in a matter of weeks we will getting all excited if we get backache or the runs Wink

BowlFullofJelly · 23/08/2013 12:04

Ooh, just realised I need to put my OoO on. I don't know when I coming back, what should I put?

HotSoupDumpling · 23/08/2013 12:17

Bowlful, just don't mention when you're coming back! e.g. 'I'm currently out of the office on maternity leave. Please contact XXXXX if you have any queries.' etc

rockchick - lovely for you to come back and let us know! Good luck. Flowers

Horatio - I might name change in a bit too. Just to mix things up a bit.

If anyone has had a cleaner and a newborn baby, what hours did you find worked best for you? Wondering whether we should get one in twice a week for shortish periods of time, or once a week for 3 hours.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/08/2013 12:24

I have just eaten a whole bag of jelly beans from my hospital bag.
I felt the need to confess! Blush

Badger you are definitely right to get seen with all of those possible PE symptoms. Even if everything is fine at least it will save you stress and worry. Will the GTT test affect your blood pressure and/ or urine?

Shirehobbit · 23/08/2013 12:52

hotsoup - I don't have a cleaner, but I imagine a 3hr visit would feel wearing. But that's just me.

Good news from the consultant - my back had enough strength and mobility to tolerate the needles for an epidural or spinal block should either be needed. She was also really supportive of our homebirth plans Smile

Oh, and the post-appointment McDogs was lush Blush

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 12:52

I've wanted to name change since the start but thought it would be confusing to do? Isit easy? I want something with less of an identity to it lol

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 23/08/2013 12:59

Great news Shire

Nat very easy - just click on "My Mumsnet" (at the top right of the screen - purple box) then go into "My Account" and change your username.

MrsHoratioNelson · 23/08/2013 12:59

Easy peasy. Just go to My Mumsnet and then registration details.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 23/08/2013 13:13

Congratulations rock chick. Such lovely news and thanks for coming back to update us!

I bet nobody can beat the most unhealthy lunch I have just eaten.....pork pie, baguette, mayo, butter, cheese stuffed peppers and crisps. I felt like I was on supersizers. YUK.

Sparkeleigh · 23/08/2013 13:29

claphammama I've been taking pregnancy multivitamins with iron from nearly the start but I did miss 3 in a row. Perhaps that has something to do with it if the iron was affecting me but I'd compensated without realising. Though I'm feeling better now and I'm starving so I must be back to normal Grin

I'm 32 weeks today! Can't believe how quickly the time has gone.

Oh, I got news about the girl from work, she had a little girl, about 5lb and they're both doing well Smile I'm so happy for her, she had a rough pregnancy.

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 13:41

Well I've finally left hospital after getting there at 8.45, I'm worn out!
MDU were lovely and my BP was low, no protein. Even if I have the other symptoms I feel a lot happier. She took (even more) blood to check my 'internal chemistry'.
So 6 vials of blood later (GTT, TORCH screening, PE bloods) I am ready for a sleep
McDonald's was great!
