I'm also excited! Met my next door neighbour for the first time today (we moved here last November Shock) - she seems lovely and very friendly, unlike other next door neighbours who are weird, and she is expecting a baby in January! Would be so lovely if we got on as none of my friends is pregnant right now and all of them are working. She seemed as excited as me.

shire I don't blame you for not staying in touch with him... I would probably react in the same way and just cut off all contact to heal and move on. Did things work out for him with that 18 year old? DP's friend did the same to his wife (and he was a teacher in his 40s!! She was his ex student and 17...!! He was suspended for over a year). After two years it all fell apart as the girl just grew up and now he is single, in his late 40s, without a house as he had to leave it to his wife, in serious debt, with ruined reputation,, and friends and two daughters who don't want to know him. Men can be so stupid...

bridget I also admire DP and really don't think I would cope as well if it was the other way round... He is a very secure person, I'm not. I was also very insecure when it came to his exes at the beginning - mainly because of some things he said and did. Now I know it's only because he is just a lovely guy and was being kind but it really threw me back then. I think women are a bit different when it comes to the past... and I think women are generally more insecure and more sensitive. I even told DP the other day that, if my ex gets a serious girlfriend one day, she will have a problem with our good relationship. I expect it.

chickien hope you have a relaxing Christmas this year! And you are right - 3 is when they start getting it and it's amazing to watch! Smile

We watched the midwives programme on iplayer last night and DP almost cried. He said the "the baby who was born sleeping" caught him unaware...

My back is killing me tonight... DP is out with work so going for a long warm soak to see if it helps... ouch

Tarlia · 22/08/2013 21:10

waves thank you for thinking of me, Clspham I'm around, just feeling rotten. Four minges is a classic! As are all the other funnies today, had me giggling.

badger how are you feeling now? Def go get checked in the morning. Good luck with the GTT - yuk!

We are in the UK for Christmas this year, which I'm both looking forward to and dreading in equal measures. Families.. I think we will def get baby some small bits and bobs as DS almost three will notice otherwise. Been buying DS a tree decoration each year, and will do the same with baby, so that when they leave home they will have X amount for their tree and happy memories attached.

Great on all the pregnant friends, Nat. Will be lovely to have mummy/baby company.

I read an article about the importance of using technical terms for 'private parts' due to pedophilia. If a child starts coming out with a cutesty name you are more likely to notice and ask who taught them it etc. However, at the moment I've gone with the English I was taught as a kid 'winkle and front bum'.

I agree with chick and was told not to limit any foods from my diet while breast feeding. Likely hood is baby is already used to the taste, or will be fine. Only worry if you are noticing strong reactions, but even then keep a food log first.

MotherOfNations · 22/08/2013 21:52

No Pseudo but my mum moved to London with us when she split from my dad when I was 9. We came back to Glasgow when I was 16.

Shirehobbit · 22/08/2013 22:07

Good to hear from you Tarlia, though sorry you feel rubbish.

Clapham - I know he's remarried, whether it was to her or someone else, I have no idea. My Dad gave me some of the best advice ever in the immediate aftermath - to maintain 'quiet dignity'; behave with restraint and civility, don't rant, rave or badmouth (in public). Of course, he was very much in the wrong, but his infidelity was not the cause of the break up, but a part of a failing marriage, which I had to take responsibility for my part in and learn from.
He was a pillock, though Wink

thethreeblondies · 22/08/2013 22:09

Crikey you chatty lot Grin I just have time to keep up then don't get round to posting!

With regards to names for lady bits we got brought up calling it our Wibby thought it was the norm b4 I went to school and people were Hmm I like it though, Willy's and Wibby's Grin

DD1 who is 8 asked rather a lot of questions regarding how babies get in tummies, I tried to be as honest as possible, she chuckled at ladies/girls having lots of little eggs in them (may have walked around clucking like a chicken for a bit!) I was faffing over the whole special cuddle bit, she came over all serious "oh I know...........you mean.......... a little bit of romance! " I couldn't have put it better Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 22/08/2013 22:14

Ow just did a stupid thing, tried to pull on my PJ bottoms while laying on my back so lifted up my bum and spread my knees quickly to pull them up and ow ow ow shooting pain in hips, pubic area and back. Silly me, must keep knees together with pgp.

Good to hear I am not neccesrily going to have problems breastfeeding and eating tomatoes/onions etc. Whoever mentioned that lots of babies are lactose intolerant, my niece can't have milk and had bad reflux because my sister was breastfeeding her and eating milk, but the drs said it is more likely to be milk protein intollerance than milk sugar (lactose) at that age. Not a great deal of difference, but if it is milk protein it wont help to take the lactase enzyme tablets I take to be able to eat milk or eat the lactofree products. Most children grow out of it by one but the majority of my family can't eat milk products as adults so I imagine my niece is. Stuck with it too.

That's the bit that really got me too Clapham! Glad you have a potential new pregnant friend.

Pinkforboys · 22/08/2013 22:52

Good Luck tomorrow pseudo. I hope it all goes well.

Just back from the Trafford centre, totally shattered. Met my sister and two friends for tea and shopping. I love shopping but it's currently so unappealing and trying to be enthusiastic when my sister is asking advice on jump suits and which stilettos to buy I am just wishing for my bed and the fan blowing on me.

My ex and I broke up and it was quite messy we also have to work together which made things very difficult for a while. We were engaged and since that I have no desire to get married as he cheated. Funnily enough he is still single. 4 and a half years on and we are on friendly terms these days.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight.

chickieno1 · 23/08/2013 01:22

Grin at a little bit of romance blondies

What injections are you on pink? Don't have to say I'm just being nosey.

tarlia hope you're ok and trying to hang in there. It can be hard enough at this stage without being unwell too. Flowers

It's nice to have others around pregnant nat and clapham. Two of my good friends in London due early next year and my sil in the states due in march. Not exactly next door but still nice :)

Sleep tight ladies

Soupqueen · 23/08/2013 03:16

Flaming insomnia! I've been awake since just after 1 and don't fancy my chances of getting back to sleep, gah!

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 03:39

Hello Soup, I'm awake too.

OP posts:
Soupqueen · 23/08/2013 03:42

Sucks, doesn't it? Is it tomorrow you have your GTT? Best of luck with it.

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 03:47

Thank you yes it's in just over 5 hours
It's obviously worrying me as I can't switch my brain off.

OP posts:
Soupqueen · 23/08/2013 03:49

I need a brain switch too, worrying about work stuff.

I'm going to try reading for a bit, hope you manage to catch some more zzzzzz!

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 04:00

I've come downstairs, hopefully will drop off on the sofa. Good night!

OP posts:
Iheartcrunchiebars · 23/08/2013 06:35

I always find the sofa sends me to sleep. It's like magic. I think I've had a growth spurt overnight as I feel even bigger this morning!

Does anyone else make the mistake of trying to roll over quickly in bed but the baby doesn't move as fast? Ouch.

Have a lovely day everyone.

MrsHoratioNelson · 23/08/2013 07:32

Sofa and some camomile tea always helps me, that is, if I'm ever going to get back to sleep after all, which is not guaranteed Hmm

Rockchick1984 · 23/08/2013 07:36

Hi all, hope you don't mind me saying a quick hello - I was on the thread earlier this year but 12 week scan found baby had died at 8 weeks, so missed miscarriage. Just in case any of you do remember me, wanted to update - I'm pregnant again, just had my 12 week scan and all is perfect!! Due in March so 5 months later than originally expected, but I'm absolutely over the moon and wanted to share the news!!! Grin

Hope all your pregnancies are going well, not long left now!

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/08/2013 07:47

Congratulations rockchick! Smile

Shirehobbit · 23/08/2013 07:52

Congratulations Rockchick - that positive 12 week scan is just awesome, isn't it? Smile

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 23/08/2013 08:03

That's absolutely brilliant news Rockchick - I didn't post early on but was lurking from the beginning.

Spring is a lovely time to have a newborn x

PseudoBadger · 23/08/2013 08:06
