Hi natalie sorry to hear you've been having tooth ache, not been on the thread for a couple of days.... I'm here if you need advice!

pinkforboys captain Flynn and the pirate dinosaurs is a current fave in our house at the moment. My DS is very lucky with books. My mum was a teacher, so has lots of her old story books which have made it into collection, he has over 30 of my old books from the loft (topsy and tim etc), and I love buying new stories for a treat. We have about 10 stories a day mimimum!

Flyer747 · 20/08/2013 22:18

Mon sorry to hear about dp's bike, so annoying....blimin thieves and tyre slashers Angry

MotherOfNations · 20/08/2013 22:22

Diamond white was my drink of choice too Flyer.Grin

Flyer747 · 20/08/2013 22:33

Horrid stuff mon I think we only drank it because it was cheap and mega strong, yuk!

Haylebop12 · 20/08/2013 22:41

Mine was lambrini, classy bird here! £1.79 for a bottle an I'd be hammered!

Flyer747 · 20/08/2013 22:54

Haha hayle! Grin

I think I used to buy peach Concorde at times as well Grin

claphammama · 20/08/2013 23:26

sorry about the bike MoN

GTbaby · 21/08/2013 00:28

After the t hat yesterday I felt bad about ds being in doors so much. So managed a quick walk to local street with shops on it. Realised its rubbish place for a walk. Lol
There are loads of shops. All of which fall into following categories. Butchers (8) grocery/fruit n veg (10) jewellers (4) photographer (3) one tesco and a bunch of "random cheap tat" stores. Oh n a post office and tesco local shop.

Our to lunch with friends tomorrow so will get out. Thursday going to attempt the library Smile

Watched the end of the BBC 2 midwife show. I sobbed Sad but all ended well so all good.

Sry to hear about car damage & bike theft. That sucks. My last car had the window broken 3 times on my drive way. They stole my Chanel sunglasses. I still feel sad when I think of them.

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 07:29

Oh dear I put 6lb in the last fortnight... A bit too much holiday indulgence. I am definitely building plenty of reserves to feed my baby!

I hope everyone slept a bit better, I did and feel so much better for it.

Pinkforboys · 21/08/2013 07:42

Rachel Do you live in/near London? I've just discovered that the South Bank are doing a production of Captain Flinn. We're taking DS for his b'day end of August.

Flyer- Thuderbird. Now that takes me back...

HotSoupDumpling · 21/08/2013 07:50

Gt - I would love to hav those shops walking distance from me! I live in a v residential part of London, so only really have one supermarket, one grocery, one butchers. And some rubbish restaurants.

My DP watched a bit of the midwife programme, got suspiciously wet eyes (at the twins bit), then slunk off saying it was too traumatic. Never seen him cry at a tv programme before! Goes without saying I was crying most of the way through out of hormones and empathy. I thought it was great to see a range of births - C section, induction, twins, normal vaginal delivery etc. There was a bit more medical procedure included than in 'One Born...'

I'm going to toddle off to amazon and buy a few soft chewy books for baby.

Shirehobbit · 21/08/2013 08:08

Ah, some good mouthwash-like teen alcohol reminiscences here. Anyone else remember the hideously sweet 20-20?

Shootingstarsandcomets · 21/08/2013 08:24

I've just measured myself according to the bra guru instead of 34dd I should be wearing 32gg?! Not sure that can be right, will have to do some bra trying on!

Warlin · 21/08/2013 08:49

flyer they tend to eat black labs in South Korea (or cross bred versions but that kind of dog). I saw a documentary on it once and it's barbaric...tiny cages then skinned alive etc....it haunted me for ages and still does. I had guinea pigs as a child too so don't think I'd be eating them somehow. I don't eat meat anyway as I just have issues about the animal suffering side of things. I do eat fish though which I know is a total contradiction but after years of being pure veggie I was so bored with the food.

I saw the midwife last week and it scared me. I cried my eyes out at the bereavement rooms and the baby born sleeping card...also found it so weird to think the 32 week old baby born is younger than what's inside me Shock. Not sure watching childbirth is the best thing just a few weeks before we are there ourselves! The staff seemed amazing though.

clapham hope dp gets over his man flu :) Men are so annoying when sick. My dh totally overreacts when he gets the cold, thinking it's flu and dosing up on everything going...I just tell him to man up Grin. Men have no clue and need to experience pregnancy and childbirth to know what pain feels like!

Loving the book talk. I bought a load of books for ds but he is at the stage where he just wants to point out the animals in them. He loves any that make a noise though or that have pop up parts. I can't wait for him to enjoy reading. clapham we have some of the Moomin books that I cought in tate modern. I love them but ds not enthralled!

Feel better after working from home yesterday but just feel ready to start mat leave now and don't want to be back in the office. I am presenting to the senior leadership team on a project later and not looking forward to it as I don't think the CEO realises I'm finishing next week. There is no cover arranged yet and it's all a bit shambolic.

I want to nip across to starbucks for a coffee and croissant but it's raining...:(

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 08:55

Oh dear I am sobbing watching the midwives in sky+

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 08:55

Good luck later Warlin.

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 21/08/2013 09:15

Shooting do it, you will be astonished the difference it makes, the only trouble is I am now running out of sizes Hmm Grin

Shirehobbit · 21/08/2013 09:20

I'm just worrying that going down so many back sizes will feel really tight/restrictive or uncomfortable, Comtesse?

Flyer747 · 21/08/2013 09:21

Shire I remember it md 20/20 hideous stuff in bright colours (my goodness I'm sounding like a right old lush Grin)

Flyer747 · 21/08/2013 09:25

Me too shire with the bra feeling restrictive I'm going to pop into town and get measured in bravissimo, I presume my rib cage will decrease post birth though so will have to be measured again after that.

Shirehobbit · 21/08/2013 09:31

Let us know how you get on at Bravissimo, Flyer Smile

I'm still close friends with the girl I grew up with through those teenage-drinking-experimental years. We recently recounted a couple of mad evenings we spent, and the alcohol that accompanied it, and on reflection, it's a miracle we survived Blush
(One evening started with a bottle if Cinzano each at home before heading out, need I say more?!)

PseudoBadger · 21/08/2013 09:40

Shooting/Shire - don't forget that the 'size' you lose in the band you mainly gain in the cup. It's just distributed better and will feel better once you get used to it.

OP posts:
Pinkforboys · 21/08/2013 09:44

Ah- you moomnin lovers- there are some moomin baby toys and dinner sets on Achica today. Very cute.

shire do you remember anything after the bottle of cinzano each...?!

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 09:45

I got fitted at bravissimo around 12 weeks and went from previously wearing 32C for many years and down to 30B for a year when lost a bit of weight to being measured as a 28FF. I wore the wired bra i bought home and my ribs felt bruised, I wish I hadn't worn it as never worn again and would have returned if I tried on for a bit longer. The soft cup I bout in the same size (28F but same as 28ff in other style) doesn't hurt though and I am still wearing but with a back extender now my ribs have grown. I find my 32E from John Lewis most comfy now i have grown into it a bit more but maybe it doesn't provide as much support.

Sparkeleigh · 21/08/2013 09:51

Good luck today Warlin! Thank for the info about the cots - we're going to go with a cot bed now Smile

OrangeBlossom2 you're braver than me, I haven't weighed myself for ages! I'd rather live in ignorance Grin

Sorry to hear about the car tyres and bike theft Sad

Shooting I went from a 36C to a 32E (or thereabouts) when bravissimo measured me, and when I wore them, I'd never had such comfortable bras, no more sighs of relief to get it off at night! Shire It was abit of a shock with the back strap suddenly being a lot tighter than I was used to but the girl fitting me told me to wear it for about 15 minutes and see if I could get used to it. If it was too uncomfortable, then I could go up a size.

I've arranged to work a half day on Monday so I can take a half day off closer to my maternity leave. My manager agreed with the proviso that "the handover training has been completed". He's even set up a load of meetings for my last week in work. I don't think it's occurred to him that I might be feeling rough and leave before 38wks or the baby might arrive early Confused The other girl in work who's pregnant went into labour yesterday a month early, it really puts things in perspective. Waiting to hear news...

For books - it's not really baby books, but when I was little was "The Practical Princess and other liberating fairy tales" was always my favourite. The princesses either rescued the prince or ditched the prince. Snow white and rapunzel and that lot always seemed a bit wet after that. I think it's out of print now but I was able to get a copy of ebay for my friends wee girl.

Sorry for the essay!
