Shooting it does feel a bit strange while you get used to it, but it looks like you've lost about a stone! No more back riding up, straps falling down, underwires digging in etc. Dont forget the "scoop and swoop" from the fitting advice as well.

Shirehobbit · 21/08/2013 09:55

Sparkleigh - I absolutely loved the Practical Princess book and stories when I was growing up Grin Grin Grin

I've never discovered anyone else who knows it!
(I still read them to my class, too)

Sparkeleigh · 21/08/2013 10:00

Me either shire! it's nice to find another fan GrinGrin

claphammama · 21/08/2013 10:20

good luck for this afternoon warlin!

orange DP promised to watch the midwives programme with me tonight so am trying to stay off iplayer... can't wait though! I found a random episode of One Born on More4 last night and his eyes were definitely watering as the babies were born. He didn't used to care in the past and found the programme annoying so something is definitely changing

going back to children books, a couple of months ago I had an inspired stupid idea to buy HC Andersen stories for DS (another book I grew up with) as thought he was now big enough to understand them. And he understood them yes, but for three days was totally distressed because the boy threw the tin soldier in the fire and the ballerina jumped after him and they both melted. Total distress... So not even attempting The Little Match Girl... Back on the shelf for a couple of years I think.

I'm working from home today as the blinds for baby's room are coming later to be fitted. The last thing to complete the nursery! I'm 31+1 today and it feels momentous to start counting remaining time in single digits. Although I know I'm behind most of you ladies!

Hope pinklady is OK and baby Josie is doing well...

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 21/08/2013 10:47

Clapham - your little DS sounds lovely...so hard to know what is going to bother them. DD got distressed watching Disney's beauty and the beast, but will quite happily watch Dr Who Confused

Is anyone else finding time is moving very slowly at the moment? From 30-33 weeks seems to have taken a lifetime...I thought the last trimester was meant to fly by? I'm finding each day quite a challenge in itself - breathless, tired and heavy.

Right, better tackle some jobs. DD isn't even dressed yet!

BowlFullofJelly · 21/08/2013 11:01

Working from home as well today - not actually working though Smile. Have ordered birthday cards for the next couple of months, wrote childminders reference, watched Great British Bake off, sorted out my toe nails and am now going for a nice long bath! Finish work on Friday so not even feeling like I have to pretend to be working. Sent DS to the childminder today and fully intend to enjoy my last child free day to myself for a long time. All the bra talk has tempted me to go shopping, but not sure I can face Westfield, we'll see.

MotherOfNations · 21/08/2013 11:11

With bras you have to remember that not all D cups are equal.
A 32 D has the same cup volume as a 38 A so really isn't all that big.

Flyer747 · 21/08/2013 11:15

Clapham I used to love the little match girl, I had totally forgotten about that Smile I had the book and a tape which I loved listening to on my cassette player....I really hope my mum has saved all these classics.

roofio87 · 21/08/2013 11:16

hello all.
I've been buying lots of books for baby too. my sis has read to her dcs every day since they were born and they are both very bright children so im hoping for the same haha!! ive mainly been getting them from charity shops and lidl often have nice ones in very cheap!!
I slept so well last night in our new bed, it was the first time in ages I've not woken up with aching legs and hip, new mattress is so comfy!!
off to my mum and dad's for a week to enjoy some time to myself with just them for the last time ever!!Smile

LostMySocks · 21/08/2013 11:50

Man flu ..... My DH gets this big time with a little sniffle. I usually find the following get me brownie points and stop him whinging:
Ribeana
Oranges (cut up like half time for a football match)
Those giant fizzy VitC tablets
A pack if Tunes (although have to watch these as he eats like sweets)

They're not too heavy to pick up at Tesco and make him feel loved and therefore 'better'. He is a bit like a big toddler at times. A bit insecure and needs lots of cuddles.

HotSoupDumpling · 21/08/2013 12:23

Lost - my DH loves to take those giant fizzy tablets when he's ill too. He gets huge satisfaction from them, it's bizarre!

Random question: is anyone buying a newborn snowsuit/pramsuit? (Not 0-3 months ones - which tend to be massive).

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 12:29

Snow suits are quite expensive hot soup so I thought I would probably go for a 3 month one to make it last longer and just have dangly legs for a while.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 21/08/2013 12:30

Seems everyone is sold on the new bra measuring! I would like to go to a bravissimo, think I will go for nursing bras and then again when I stop feeding as am planning on a completely new underwear wardrobe! Will be especially worth it as I'll be a new size probably post pregnancy.
I left ds for the first time at nursery today, only for an hour but i was so sad leaving him there. He was the happiest little baby though, collected him and he was happily playing with his friends in the garden and had apparently cried only briefly and then got on with the serious job of playing and exploring! Seems I am now redundant!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 21/08/2013 12:31

Whilst he was there though I was very productive and made a lemon drizzle cake which I am now going to eat a huge slice of whilst he naps Grin

roofio87 · 21/08/2013 12:32

I've bought a really nice 0-3 snowsuit but have been given 2 newborn ones by sil. if I hadn't though I would just be going straight into the bigger one!!

Haylebop12 · 21/08/2013 13:00

I'm going to wait with the snowsuit thing. Only because I'm convinced last October was really warm! Plus I bought dd one before she was born in size newborn and it was huge for ages! I ended up borrowing a tiny baby one for the first 4-6 weeks. She was an average 7lb 6oz and 56cm long.

MotherOfNations · 21/08/2013 13:04

I bought a newborn one a while ago. My babies tend to be on the small side so it should be ok for a wee while at least.

Shooting I love going out and buying loads of sexy undies once the baby weight's gone. It makes me feel like me again.

Wickedgirl · 21/08/2013 13:09

I bought a 0-3 month snowsuit as although October might be mild, November and December probably won't be. I have loads of jackets, hats and blankets too so if the snowsuit is too big and the weather is nasty, I can still wrap the baby up warm. I also have a moby wrap so could carry the baby in my coat for warmth too.

Just watched the midwives programme on iplayer. God did I sob ..........I'm a hormonal wreck clearly

claphammama · 21/08/2013 13:25

I'm not bothering with any newborn stuff to be honest... they grow so quickly. DS was very small and looked tiny and lost in 0-3 for the first 2-3 weeks but I just rolled things up and it was ok. So I'm buying everything in 0-3 this time.

kd83 · 21/08/2013 13:51

Hi ladies,

I've only just discovered this thread - despite being addicted to mumsnet throughout my pregnancy - can I join in?!

I'm due Oct 10 with first baby.

On snowsuits we got a 0-3 mth one in the summer sales, thinking it would be useful in Nov/Dec/Jan. But mw said last week that she things baby is going to be very long so I'm not sure how long it will last.

We're also going for 0-3 clothes rather than newborn

Racheld33 · 21/08/2013 13:53

thanks for that pinkforboys , we live in the north west, but was planning a trip to London pre-baby to see friends so will look up the show!

Just eaten a whole pack of biscuits whilst catching up on the thread Blush

HotSoupDumpling · 21/08/2013 13:54

V interesting! I haven't bought a huge amount of clothing, as was given lots of 0-3 clothing and a snowsuit second hand from my SIL. I think you guys are right though -October doesn't tend to be that cold, so I'll wait to see how big the baby is and hopefully the 0-3 snowsuit will be fine by the time the colder weather hits!

xuntitledx · 21/08/2013 14:34

We have 2 second hand snowsuits in 0-3 size and just bought another from Tesco (so only £12)!

Probably a waste really as we're not the outdoors-y types so I'm not sure where we'll be going to need said sleepsuits but hey ho!

SeriousStuff · 21/08/2013 15:20

Welcome kd83! It's never too late to join in!

You've all just reminded me that a snowsuit is the one thing I still don't have...

OrangeBlossom2 · 21/08/2013 15:26

Welcome Kd83. Do you know what you are having? Hope things have been going ok for you so far?

Nesting mode has fully started here. Today I have cleaned the bathroom and have just made 3 beef lasagnes, 4 vegan lasagnes, 3 tubs of pasta sauce and have some rhubarb crumbles to do next to put in the freezer for early days with baby. Also washed 2nd hand baby clothes, Muslins and towels and once I know I haven't ruined them in the tumble dryer I will wash all the new clothes I have bought. Otherwise will have to wait for DH to get the drying rack out of the loft. I am sure I wont mind eventually but I dont want everything shrunken or bobbly before the baby has even used it.
