2happy - so glad it's not just me, there's been times this weekend when I've almost convinced myself I was about to have a m/c and it was such a relief to get up this morning with no pain and still feeling sick with sore boobs

Roll on 2nd trimester!!

Has anyone got their 12 week scan this week? Mine's next week, good luck to anyone with theirs coming up

thanks loubie
I think it is the timing that is worrying me more than anything. The others on the thread have had bleeding much earlier, not starting at 10/11 weeks.

jessddibs · 26/06/2006 09:14

Good morning all mums to be!

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time of it indignito. The only thing I can say is that I have a friend who bled all the way through her pregnancy on and off and her daughter is perfect. And I also know a friend of a friend who felt fine and was looking forward to her 12 week scan but recieved the news that she had suffered an mc with no symptoms and had to go for d&c. Sorry to be so morbid, but what I am trying to say is we have all got to rest as much as poss, eat, sleep and try not to stress!?! And just let mother nature do the rest....sometimes it's just out of our control.x.

Reading that some of you have been having 'sharp' pains down below has answered my question that I was going to post today! I have also had real needle poaking type pains very low down in my pelvis, sometimes almost to the point they panic me. This must be quite normal I suppose. Everything is constantly moving and growing. Got the mw weds so will check with her.

Am looking after my friends 12month old daughter today, all day. Good practise, I need it! Out of the routine of feeding, nappy changing etc! DD loves it and didn't want to go to school! She is going to be soo excited when she finds out about the new arrival!

Indignatio - if it's any reassurance, I also had bleeding in my last pregnancy at 9 weeks and 33 weeks - both times were out of the blue and it was red blood and quite a lot of it....my son is now a healthy intelligent 12 year old!

Jessdibs, I know what you mean about the pains, they're so scary aren't they? I can't remember having them with my 2, but then again that was 15 and 12 years ago..... The worst pains I get are sometimes when I sneeze - I get a really bad sharp pain if I'm sat in the wrong position....it really does scare the life out of me

thanks jess and loubie - have spoken to m/w who is kindly going to try to get Friday's scan brought forward.

I have a tip of a house - washing everywhere after being away last week - but I am just going to put my feet up whilst ds is a pre-school this am

ELM · 26/06/2006 10:09

Morning!
Indignatio, sorry you are having a hard time, will be thinking of you today. Maybe if you speak to the MW they can bring the scan forward?

I've been having those cramps/sharp pains too, especially if I stand up too quickly. Have my booking app this afternoon so am going to ask the midwife.
Still have bad morning sickness and tired all the time..trying to stay positive
We went to the Watercress Line over the weekend for a ride on the steam train, for DP parents 50th wedding ann.(they had a posh meal on it in the evening too) If anyone lives in the South it's definitely a fun day out (they have Thomas the Tank Engine days too)
Anyway I should get on and do some work, it's taking me ages to read through all the posts from the weekend!

magnolia1 · 26/06/2006 10:21

Morning ladies, Have not posted for a while. Felt a bit fake coz I am actually due December but started posting here then had dates changed.
Feel more at home here but don't want to get on everyones nerves writing stuff that is a few weeks advanced of some of you.

Anyway had my Nuchal scan which was fantastic and baby flipping around loads. My dog had 6 puppies Friday morning so keeping busy with those

Midwife booked me in and was here for over an hour!!!
Have to see consultant on 5th July coz DD4 was 6.5 weeks early and I had a placenta abrubtion.

Indignatio : With dd1 i had really heavy bleeding at 12 weeks, so bad that I was rushed to hospital with almost deffinate miscarraige. Scan revealed she was fine and she is now nearly 11
Hope the scan goes well and take it easy till then xxxx

Why are Doctors receptionists so clueless???

I called my MW this morning because I've been feeling really anxious again, convinced that something has gone wrong now....not sure why, just a horrible feeling. Did a naughty thing and made up some aches and pains so that I could go to the EPU(my scan isn't until 7th july so couldn't wait until then).

Mw rang the EPU to get an appt for me but I needed a referral. MW called me again to get a referral from GP.
Receptionist DIDN'T KNOW how to do this!!

Had to call the EPU again to ask them if I needed to see GP or if referral can be done over the phone.
Then had to call GP's back to tell them an appt with Gp's wasn't necessary and it could be done over the phone.

EPU want me there for 8am tomorrow.....GP not calling me until 4pm today

WTF!!

Anyway, hopefully it'll all be fine. The last thing I want is bad news tomorrow because it's my birthday tomorrow too!

trinityrhino · 26/06/2006 10:24

stay magnolia, I don't mind at all

magnolia1 · 26/06/2006 10:24

Awwwww hun, I am sure everything is fine but I can honestly say I have expanded the truth a bit to get seen and put my mind at rest. You do whatever it takes to make sure eveything is fine

I hope your Birthday is a great one. Keep us posted on the scan

magnolia1 · 26/06/2006 10:24

Lol, crossed posts! Thanks girls

Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 10:27

Indignatio- sorry to hear about the bleeding but as I am sure I have said before, my MIL had bleeding all through her preg (didn't even know she was preg for the first 3 1/2 months!) and had my lovely DH, healthy and happy. And that was 28 years ago! xxxx

Def agree about the pains. Did read in my "pregnancy bible" that the pains of stretching and uterus moving up are worse in subsequent preg. Maybe explain the sharp pains? I have had some but mostly when lying down. Dont know what that means.

Can any of the mums with children already tell me when I could expect ds to be out of a buggy and walking himself. I have no idea. Not sure if I need to have a double buggy or not (ds will be 18months when new baby born).

LadyTophamHatt · 26/06/2006 10:30

Dhart, i still use a buggy for ds3 and he'll be 3 in september.
It depends on the child but IMO 18months will be too early to make him walk everywhere....unless you want to take an extra 4 hours to get anywhere!

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 10:31

Hope that scan goes ok tom LTH. Tempted to do the same and expand the truth about how I am feelign to get another scan. Over two weeks til mine!!

Def stay magnolia! More the merrier!

Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 10:33

Sorry, keep posting and others have been quicker!!

Thought that was case LTH. Really liked having ds in a carrycot facing me but they are so expencive for double ones!

magnolia1 · 26/06/2006 12:24

What about one with a toddler seat, or a buggy board? Or there are the seat 2 go ones which are like buggy boeards but they sit on them

2Happy · 26/06/2006 13:54

Wow I am relieved about all the stabby pains going on here!
Indignatio - sorry to hear about your bleeding, hope it turns out ok. I think you should wait until the washing is so dirty it can walk into the washing machine itself (you can tell I've never posted in the good housekeeping section of MN!)
LTH - expanding on symptoms to get a scan is perfectly acceptable IMO. I tried blagging a scan from dh, but it's the cow scanner and he said it was covered in shit (they use it by putting it up the cow's bottom to look at pregnancies) so I didn't fancy that after all, lol! (Oh, dh is a vet, BTW, in case you're wondering!)
Magnolia - stay! stay! stay! stay!
And since I have been a moany git for my last few posts, I thought I'd be positive for once - morning sickness is great! I've lost half a stone, and now weigh less than I did at this stage with ds. I am even back into my skinny person clothes and that's with a bloated belly! Shame I look like cr@ap with bags under my eyes that about reach my navel!!! C'mon 12 weeks.....

becks5109 · 26/06/2006 16:02

Hello everyone

Not been on for a while as been off sick from work - hayfever caused a horrible ear infection and then company dr gave me antibiotics that I had a reaction to and felt really pukey. Eventually spoke to my own GP who said I could loratadine for my hayfever and so he gave me a prescription. Still completely bunged up but ear feels a bit better but i'll be glad when the hayfever season is well and truly over!

Nemo hope your DD is okay.

Indignatio - hope the bleeing stops soon for you its such a horrible worry isn't it these early days.

Loubie I too get awaful pains when I sneeze so glad i'm not the only one!

Dragonheart my DD is 2 and I rarely let her walk anywhere other than the corner shop as it takes ages. I hoping to avoid a double buggy as she'll be nearly 3 by the time this one arrives.

I've got a private scan this Friday - hoping they can do nuchal but will only be about 11+3 so fingers crossed I'm far enough along as want to tell all the family at the weekend as we're seeing them all for lunch. Otherwise I have my hospital scan the following week but am getting very impatient and want to start telling people!

kaylasmum · 26/06/2006 16:21

Hi,

Just thought i'd let everyone know how my scan went on Friday. I was so nervous about having it done that i was ill all Friday morning, thankfully it went well and i saw a heartbeat. I thought i was 10 weeks and 3 days but the baby was measuring 9 weeks 3 days which has concerned me a little as i have doubts about when my last period was. Also she mentioned that there was a little blood near to the baby and when i asked her what that meant she told me that if i'd been bleeding then that would have been the cause. She said that if i do have any bleeding not too worry, easier said than done! So now i'm getting stressed and going to the toilet more often than usual to check. I asked her if it was quite common to see that and she told me it was so i'll just have to try to relax a bit more until my next scan on the 14th July.

Still feeling sooo sick! Went back to work today after being signed off for 2 weeks and it was a nightmare. In my last pg the nausea did'nt wear off until i was 16 weeks. Its worth it though to know that everything is ok, if it went no doubt i'd be panicking!

Hope everyone else is doing ok

Tracey

LadyTophamHatt · 26/06/2006 19:18

have to be at the EPU for 8am tomorrow. MW said they are open between 8am and 8:45am but the later ou get there the longer the wait as it's fisrt come frst served.

Don't fancy spending my birtday waiting around in a hospital so will have to get the kids up and dressed super early.

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 19:31

Wow - thats early LTH! Glad you managed to get a scan though. Sure all will be well. xxxx

Thought it was wishfull thinking about making ds walk!!! Expect it will be a double buggy for me. Oh joy! THey all seem MASSIVE! Have enough prob manovering a single one, spacial awareness is not my strong point! Tandem or side my side that is the question.

LadyTophamHatt · 26/06/2006 19:35

I'm a liabilty with a buggy too so I'm not the best person to advise you.
I've had both sorts over the years and I think a tandem is easier.
Side by side always made my arms ache because the handle were so far apart.

Tandem will tone any flabby arms because of any kerbs you have to get it up. They are heavy.

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 19:36

Glad your scan went well kalas. Hope you are feeling better soon xxxx

Dragonhart · 26/06/2006 19:39

Arms have got nicely toned thanks to my ds who weighs about a ton! I am quite tall- 6ft and find that most handles are too low and give me backache. Guess it will be whichever one has the tallest/most adjustable handle!
