awww, thats lovely ellie..... You've got a lovely friend there.
My oldest friend has a Ds a few years old than our Ds1 and from when he was born to the age of about 4 I don't think I ever bought him clothes, whenever I saw her she'd have another bag of goodies for me. There were loads of really lovely clothes that have now been through all 3 of my boys
She had a DD a few years ago and I sent her to mothercare armed with a stack of giftvouchers to say thanks.

I've been looking a buggies this morning actually.....god it's minefield isn't it??
Don't really want to spend £££££ but it seems I'll have tp spend at least £100 to get one suitable from birth with cosy-toes and rain cover.
DH is not happy....surprise surprise!

lth- i havent read it in detail but got a leaflet through from babies r us and they had micro lite silver cross pushchairs with covers etc half price at 59.99 my mum bought one on these when I was pg with DD and she used it from birth with my DD just laid it flat and put a nice cosy sheepskin liner on it and DD doesnt seemed to have been halmed by this! The only thing i I think they only come trimmed in blue or pink my mum got a blue one as she said it would be fine for either sex but she wouldnt put a boy in a pink pushchair.

I cant remember who typed about names in the last couple of days but we like Jack, Joe and Jessie for a boy no middle name yet (but george is a real family name on DH side) and we like Jessica Alice for a girl (my DH nan is Alice and she'll be 93 in sept so it would be names after her) any one else got names yet?

LadyTophamHatt · 13/07/2006 19:16

these are the short listed 2...

brittax ...although I think thi sis the one a few Mners have had trouble with 6and^ it doesn't come with a cosy toes.

this is my favourite

No names yet, there are laods of girls names we like as after having 3 boys it's easy to choose a girls name.
If this on is a boy then who knows what he'll he nammed....we really have no idea.

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 13/07/2006 19:19

ellie saw those prams yesterday and they are quite nice...we got a bargain one from babies r us for dd was £69 including footmuff and raincover and was from birth. Also have a marco sky double which will be reusing as it is a fab pram.

names wise only name we have is Luke Jesse jesse is after my grandads middle name. Didnt think we would have to be considering names again so quickly and we only ever agreed on one girls name which dd now has.

KerryJ · 13/07/2006 20:14

Arghhh don't talk to me about buggies. I'm going to have to get a double this time, as ds2 will be 21 months in Jan and I won't want him walking everywhere in the freezing weather. Have absolutely no clue about which one to get, although the 'First Wheels' one looks good and you can get a carrycot attachment for one side. Expensive though, and quite bulky I think?

Names - gawd, we're pretty clueless. Every time I think of a name I like, I write it down so at the moment I've got a list...

Arthur
Charlie
Callum
Sebastian
Oscar
Theo
Gabriel
Cameron

No girls names as I'm sure we'll have another boy (do you think that's rash...lol).

Mtorning ladies !

LTH .. so glad to hear everything is OK, I feel a bit guilty now for telling you to stop worrying. I take it all back.

EllipM, your friend sounds like an absolute doll. Your story almost brought tears to my eyes (I'm very emotional at the moment and likely to shed a tear at almost anything, even the leopard cub on Big cat week tht got soaking wet last night). Cant believe everyone is researching prams you are all so organised and makes me feel inadequate. Think I have settled on a name tho, Will and Emily or Lily. Just hoping my BIL doesnt pinch any of them as thay are due in Nov.

Take care and have a good weekend everybody

LadyTophamHatt · 14/07/2006 10:38

Don't worry coffeebeanz....I worry about worrying too much so whatever you said would have gone right over my head

I'm only reserching buggies because i LOVE them!!...I can't pass up an opportunity to buy a new one and what better reason to get one.
With this being No4 for us it'll be the only new thing it does have!

havne't really had any bleeding since the other day, maybe a teeny weeny bit when i wipe but that about it. All very strange.

Hi everyone glad we are sort of all ok lth glad everything was ok the other day, well my little boy turned 2 yesterday so my house was manic last night which I could have done without as im full of cold but hay ho he will only be 2 once. I dont think im getting a new buggy mine is a graco one that is only 2 years old and is in good nick its a shame to get rid of it the only thing is its blue and if I have a girl will she hate me forever for putting her in a blue pram even though I could get loads of pink blankets etc. Well name wise for a boy we like ben and ross and for a girl we like lauren or brooke, I like harrison but my husband isnt keen the problem is my ds is called aidan which is a little different and I dont know if aidan and ben go with that being a traditional name, im sure we shall sort it out.

ELM · 14/07/2006 16:38

Prams....4 wheeled or 3 wheeled?

Girls names: Molly, Marissa
Boys names: Tristan or Aaron

Loubie37 · 14/07/2006 18:12

I fell in love with the Jane Slalom Pro Matrix as soon as I saw the Mothercare Catalogue which I picked up when I was about 2 days pg

It's a 3 wheeler pushchair with a car seat that converts into a carrycot....they don't stock them at our local store but we're going to Leeds on Monday for my nuchal scan so I'm hoping they've got one in so we can have a look. I can't order one without seeing whet they look like and having a push around in the store. I'm not buying one though until at least October.....

I want to feel better

enola05 · 14/07/2006 23:30

Hello All.

I'm new to mumsnet and must confess I haven't had chance to read all 400+ posts in this thread yet so please forgive me if I'm repeating stuff.

Ds1 is 2yrs and we're expecting No 2 on 24 Jan. So pleased I can breathe now we're at 12 weeks and have told the family this week. Everyone so pleased for us which is nice (had a couple of miscarriages in the past 12 months so have been very nervous about this one).

Pregnancy seems to be going OK so far, a fair bit of nausia and tired but that's about it. The biggest problem at the moment is a mouth ulcer!

Lots of pain at the weekend, didn't want to take too many paracetamol so stuck with just 2 at bedtime so I could get some sleep. Went to see Dr on Monday who prescribed antibiotics and referred me to ENT 'cause I couldn't open my mouth for her to look and see what the problem was. ENT had a prod and a poke and stuck a camera up my nose (yuck) then referred me to maxillo facial surgery (aargh!!) which turned out to be glorified dentists (phew) who've given me stronger antibiotics and told me that they think it's wisdom tooth growing through, caused an infection which has locked up the muscle in my lower jaw, hence pain and can't open my mouth. Now they want to take out my wisdom teeth!! Within the next few weeks. Aaargh,. Help. Is it safe?

Antibiotics seem to be doing the trick (worried enough about taking these) pain is liveable without paracetamol and mouth almost back to normal (no big macs yet tho ) and I can feel a lump between my gum and my cheek about half way down my jaw so not sure if it was wisdom teeth at all (the problem with not being able to take xrays and have a look apparently)

Sorry for the epic message but just needed to ask.

Enola

jessddibs · 15/07/2006 07:23

Welcome enola!
Good morning to the rest of you!

I know it's early, but dh woke us up getting ready to play golf! Why can men not creep about and get ready quietly?!?!

Still feeling sick, but have found a craving for marmite on toast for breakfast which seems to help a lot!? it is strange..cause I normally HATE marmite! lol

Sorry to hear that you have felt so ruff trinity, it must be horrible. I have made an effort to stop moaning myself, as I have been very lucky compared to alot of you. Get well soon.x.x.

As far as pushchairs go, I find them really annoying! We got rid of our Gracco one early on with dd1, and changed to a buggy as soon as poss. The wheels were so big on the travel system that it made it difficult to carry and pack into the boot of the car. So I have a major issue with wheels!! I want a decent pushchair for a newborn, but which is light and easyly collapsed! any ideas???? Also, I like it to look good, have ample shopping space and be comfortable to drive.....that goes for the new car we are gonna have to buy aswel!?

Onto names...we havn't disscussed it yet...but I have my heart set on a boys name. I just bet dh won't want it. The funny thing is, I asked dd what her favorite boys name was (havn't told her yet by the way!!!) and she came out with the name I love, Freddie. How weird is that??! Anyway, we are hopefully gonna find out the sex, so have agreed that we are not going to talk about names until then....girls names I am stuck, big time!

Jess
13 weeks 2day!

LadyTophamHatt · 15/07/2006 07:38

Hi enola, welcome to the Due in jan gang.....you'll fit in well as you seem to be worrying...we worry about everything even when there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Infact when theres nothing to worry about we'll probably worry why there isn't

Anyway...wisdom teeth. I'm absolutley sure they wouldn't take them out if it wasn't safe. I had 2 of mine out recently (although not when PG) and they did it as an out patient. I was there for about 40 minutes and just had a normal injection to numb my face rather than a general where I was unconcious(sp???)
Mine were impacked too (meaning they had grown but were pretty much covered by the gum and my cheek...although I'm not sure if i've spelt impacked right!!) I had stitches that desolved over afew weeks.
Errrrmmmmm......now....I'm not sure if I should tell you this bit.....errmm....the pain whne the numbness wears off.....ummmm...I'll just say make sure you get some painkillers that are safe to take in pregnancy which a ALOT stronger than paracetamol.
Paracetamol would be the equivalent of taken a spoon full of calpol for full blown labour...it was for me anyway.

God...I bet you can't wait now, can you??

Morning all and welcome Enola, sorry to hear about the mouth problems, hope they get sorted (painlessly!) soon

TR - big hugs, hope you're feeling better soon, I remember only too well from my first 2 pregnancies how debilitating it can be. I seem to have escaped this time round which is a blessing!

Jessddibs - (my due date twinnie!) congrats on reaching the 2nd trimester, it's a great feeling isn't it?!

Hello to everyone else, hope you're all starting to bloom a bit now - I definitely am, I'm feeling much brighter, I don't know whether it's cos it's the weekend or because I'm not having to get up in the middle of the night for a wee anymore, but I definitely feel much more human And I'm getting a bump!! I'm going maternity bra shopping today, as my DH keeps pointing out (with eyes as big as saucers [winks] my norks are getting huge. I might have to get a support bra for night time too as they're quite painful when I turn over - does anyone else get this?

Anyway, have a fab weekend everyone. I've got my nuchal scan on Monday which I'm really looking forward to (unlike the 12 week one which I was dreading)

Loubie xx
13 weeks today!!

saltcod · 15/07/2006 20:22

Welcome Enola......always good to have some new bumps on the board

So who's actually got a proper bump then?! Mine is definitely there in the evenings, but far less pronounced during the day.... so nobody seems to have guessed yet (or they aren't brave enough to ask just in case they're wrong ). Looking forward to having a proper bump..... hate this stage where you just look like you've eaten a few too many pies & your normal clothes are too small but maternity clothes just swamp you!

Suffering with a bad back at the mo, but otherwise feeling tonnes better & not needing those extra naps (most days!) anymore. Maybe I'm about to start blooming ....

Loubie, good luck with your scan on Monday - do you remember Katierocket from the clomid threads? She's also due in Jan (saw a post from her on one of the pregnancy threads). Hopefully she'll join this group soon!

Iona x
clomid miracle...15+3

Loubie37 · 15/07/2006 21:03

Oh that's fab news about katierocket - I was a bit worried about her as she seemed to disappear from the Clomid thread for a while, I hope she joins us soon on here!

I've got a bit of a bump, but as I'm overweight to start with I just look a bit fatter really....although I think it depends on what I wear. People who know I'm pregnant say that I'm getting a bump but I think if someone didn't know they wouldn't guess....I can't wait to get a proper baby bump now, but not till it's cooled down a bit - after our holiday in France would be nice

I've been getting a bit of back ache too, but usually when I've been on my feet a lot such as today - it was triple points in Boots so I bought some nipple cream, some new born bibs and 2 pairs of the tiniest socks you could imagine :0

My friend unbeknown to me at the time bought me a pack of muslins too which I thought was lovely of her

Right I'm off in the bath - has anyone tried the Sanctuary mum-to-be bath products? They're lovely!

Hello again.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, it's nice to have somewhere to chat where nobody rolls their eyes and sighs at me (oh she's off again LOL ) Actually they're not that bad.

I notice that there's been some pushchair chat on here already. DH and I have already discussed this and we're thinking of getting the Phil & Teds E3. Mainly 'cause I'm not sure whether we'll need a double or single. DS will be 2 1/2 when new baby arrives. If what he's like now is any indication of his behaviour in 6mnths time I'll need the pushchair for him just to stop him doing a runner and at least with the E3 I can swap and change depending on whether I need 1 or 2 seats.

We haven't really discussed names yet. I still have my list from last time and I've had a look through and crossed out some that I don't like anymore but that's about it. I think we'll probably find out the baby's sex at my next scan (at 20 weeks) to give us plenty of time to think about it.

Anyway, that's enough from me. It's late and I NEED my sleep.

Goodnight all

i definatately have a bump.....IMO a shocking one at only 14+5.
I dread to think what I'll look like at 40 weeks

OP posts:
curtaintwitcher · 16/07/2006 10:07

hi all [its nemo under name change]

Enola welcome to the thread..I am also looking at a p+t this time only because dd will still be so young so need a double where she will be able to sleep. Your ds may surprise you with walking as my ds was 2.2yrs when dd was born so I got a marco sky but within a month he was walking everywhere.

about showing..I am not but then I am very overweight and with not long having dd still looked half pregnant..lol Am 14wks today..eek

jessddibs · 16/07/2006 17:09

Finally told our 5yr old dd!!! She was very shocked and embarrased!!? Went red, smiled, giggled, then said that she would like a sister please! Bless her! In one day I think she told 10 people! lol!

I had a nightmare with her today..went to a friends bday party and dd dropped her spoon under the table, when she bent down to pick it up she smacked her nose full pelt on the table!!! There was blood everywhere, and then to top it all off she started vomiting blood where she had swallowed so much from her nose bleed!!!!!!! Poor kids having to watch that while trying to enjoy their food. I really thought she had broken her nose, but all seems ok now. Thank goodness.

And on the issue of bumps, I most definately have one. I took dd to her stagecoach class on sat morning and one of the other mums actually said congrats and when are you due!? I didn't think it was that obvious, so it was very brave of her to ask!!!lol! so wanted to say that i wasn't preg for a laugh! I am only a size 10/12 though, so maybe the bump it a little obvious cause i normally have a flatish tum and wear fitted tops, so a pot belly is a give away i surpose..

Hope everyone else is ok.x.x.

Hello- haven't popped in for ages. Due Jan 17th, have 3 other children- so have definitely changed shape! Had a few scares along the way- thought it was ectopic etc, but all is fine. ds (22months) also been in hospital with a huge and I mean huge asthma attack, so much so he has a definite diagnosis now, rather than toddler wheeze. Hope you are all surviving in this heat- still feeling very sick- so I really am not looking forward to the next few days. Best thing though, my energy levels have returned. Also blubbing at the slightest thing- especially Toto ( Big Cat Diary), Sports Relief etc!

Loubie37 · 17/07/2006 07:57

Jessddibs - how exciting telling your DD, I remember when we told my two (because they're a lot older, 14 & 12 I wanted them to be the first to know so there wasn't any chance of them hearing it from someone else) and the best we got was indifference! They're not exactly unhappy about it, but on the other hand they're not jumping up and down for joy either....but then again I suppose it must be embarrassing finding out your 38 yr old mum is pregnant!

I hope her nose is better and that she wasn't too upset by what happened at the party

I've got my nuchal scan today which I'm really looking forward to (I think!) I really hate that first couple of minutes though, until you see the hb and movement.

We're then having a trip to MothercareWorld while we're in Leeds which I'm looking forward to - there's hardly and baby shops in Grimsby other than Boots & a small Mothercare so it will be nice to have a proper look at things Not that we're buying anything yet (she says!)

Will catch up with you all later
