These older sibling reactions are so cute!

Well, today I created a piece of modern art by vomiting up sugar snap peas into a bowl in which I had already vomited up raspberry tea. It was like a green volcano in a red sea.

SugarMice gosh I'm glad you mentioned that - I just realised that my PCOS is nowhere on my maternity notes. As I'm slim and no history of diabetes in the family I'm not sure I'd get the GTT normally so I should look into that.

DawnOfTheDee · 08/08/2013 20:19

Harlem I had an anterior placenta last time. Yes, it did mean I didn't feel 'proper' movement will round about my 20 week scan if i remember correctly. I did feel a few movement before that but was never sure if that's what they really were iyswim.

pettyprudence I hadn't heard that before about anterior placenta meaning more likely to be back to back. DD was back to back though so it was certainly true in my case.

I'm already feeling definite movement this time. I'm a bit further ahead than a lot of you though and this is second baby for me (which i've heard means more likely to feel something earlier). It's usually in the evenings when I'm resting!

pettyprudence · 08/08/2013 20:54

Dawn the back to back thing is apparently because of where the umbilical cord would lie so it kind of makes sense - if the placenta is back to front, so is baby! I got lucky and ds turned in time for delivery!

Just been on the H&M website and I NEED the denim maternity dress. I think it would just do me for life in general.

212VIP · 08/08/2013 21:14

How odd. This is DC3 and each time I've asked about and been told to have an empty bladder and had no problems with the nuchal measurements?

Different hospitals must just make their own rules up!

I've been feeling movement since about 11 weeks. An finally starting to feel less sick and tired but can't believe the size of me this time round. Seems to get worse throughout the day too. I start out quite small in the morning but by bedtime I look like I'm half way!

Lovely to hear everyone's 'announcement' stories.

We finally told our two DC's and it fell a bit flat at the time. But now it's sunk in they're telling everyone that'll listen about what's in my tummy. Even strangers in the pub garden yesterday. My eldest lifted my top up today and asked of he could see the baby. That was easier to explain than the next question. "How is the baby going to come out"? Eeeeeeek.

littlestgirlguide · 08/08/2013 21:26

VIP, my DD wanted to know how the baby was going I get out. I told her I would go to te hospital and the doctors would help me - she seemed happy with that, but I don't know how long for! She only just 4 though so older ones might not be as easily quieted!

Bearfrills · 08/08/2013 21:27

Oh DS knows all about how the baby will get out .....

Daddy is going to cut it out of my tummy. With a knife. Then they'll Sellotape the hole closed. Then we'll all have tea, the baby wants fish fingers.

Hmm
littlestgirlguide · 08/08/2013 21:38

Bear, that actually made me lol! You DH sounds just like mine!

EeyoreIsh · 08/08/2013 21:44

That's hilariously cute bear!

I've been busy packing for my holiday Grin including a maternity dress Grin Grin Grin

my bump is starting to show this afternoon. I think my tummy muscles have finally given up. I'm supposed to be going into work but I'm going to work from home as I felt shit today and I don't want anyone to guess from my bump.

A random colleague made bump signs across the reception of work yesterday at me. No chance she knows I'm pregnant, and I thought I'd not shown. I was a bit annoyed!

14+4 today.

laura0007 · 08/08/2013 21:44

Haha bear that's great!!! Grin

CubanoHabana · 08/08/2013 21:47

Had my scan and all was well! Bean was sleeping at first with hands next to its chin, just like my sil used to sleep as a little one! Woke u
At the end and did a little wave!

Dates have gone back a few days, so now 11 +4 and edd 23rd feb.

Told beans great grandparents today, they were very excited, also told one of my friend's who screamed and then burst into tears in the middle of starbucks, which was so sweet!

Oh been carrying scan picture with him everywhere today as well, bless.

HarlemWobble · 08/08/2013 21:53

Littlest that is very helpful, thank you!!

Petty and Dawn thanks re anterior placenta info. Smile

Bearfrills · 08/08/2013 21:53

That's when I'm due cubano :)
Congrats on your scan!

gnittinggnome · 08/08/2013 22:16

marzipanned were you drinking raspberry leaf tea, or just a regular fruit tea? I'm sure I read somewhere that raspberry leaf tea used to be used by midwives to stimulate labour.... will see if I can find that reference! Ordinary fruit tea isn't an issue, but I'm sure I saw that somewhere.

cubano yay for scan! and very excited OHs Smile

misskatamari · 09/08/2013 08:35

You're right gnitting - raspberry leaf tea should be avoided in early pregnancy as it stimulates the womb (apparently). It can be taken in the last few months (I think) to help ease labour.

I think there are a few herbal teas we are supposed to be careful of. Can't remember which tho. I think normal fruit ones are generally okay but herbal ones like nettle etc are advised against (if I remember correctly).

Thingymajigs · 09/08/2013 08:49

I drank raspberry leaf tea in my second pregnancy to bring on labour because I really didn't like my experience of being induced first time around. I can't stand the taste but I did go in to labour naturally two days before my due date. Probably would have happened with or without the tea though.

Somanychanges · 09/08/2013 08:51

Morning all,

So I just bought a Doppler, a bit annoyed at myself as never used one with other pregnancies and its not as if I need to now. I don't have money to be wasting right now. But saw one on eBay and got carried away in a bidding war. Grin

Anyway I won it for just over £9 so not too bad. Just all the talk of dopplers and hearing the heart beat the other day got me sucked in. Well at least now my DH, the kids and I can all spend evenings listening to baby's heart beat, I wonder if we will ever get bored of it.

I have my booking in midwife appointment at the hospital today. I am going to be in Epsom to give birth, have never been before so will be nice to see where it is and what it's like.

My nipples are huge but have never gone back to normal since breast feeding anyway. I don't get that line on tummy, funnily enough though my daughter was born with it and still has it aged 8.

marzipanned · 09/08/2013 09:33

Thanks for the advice on tea ladies - another thing I really hadn't given a moment's thought to.

It was raspberry and chilli tea rather than raspberry leaf - it doesn't taste of much tbh. I've really gone off most of the herbal teas I usually drink (camomile, peppermint and, yes, ginger) so have just been working my way through the ones at the back of the cupboard that have been there for yonks.

I was so tempted to buy a doppler but think I'll just drive myself mad if I do. I figure it's not toooo long til I will hopefully feel little one moving and that will satisfy me that s/he is alive and well in there!

My boobs have hardly grown at all. :(

Imagine a pregnancy in which you get all the good symptoms: feel sexy, boobs grow (to the perfect size, not beyond) and none of the bad ones...

EeyoreIsh · 09/08/2013 11:03

Morning all

I'm moved seamlessly from nausea yesterday to heartburn today. I think it's because my bump has suddenly started to appear. I've never had heartburn before, how do I deal with it?

I'm very excited today, all packed and ready to go for my holiday Grin Grin Grin Heading into London tonight then early train direct to the south of France tomorrow. DH is getting in a bit of a stress about having to lug my suitcase across London in rush hour. Two weeks off work will be blissful.

Hope everyone else is well and the sickness abates...

14+5

barebranches · 09/08/2013 11:46

is anyone else stuggling with constant weeing?
4 times in the night!!! so annoying!

misskatamari · 09/08/2013 11:55

Have an awesome holiday eeyore! Drinking milk helps ease heart burn abit but ideally get some gaviscon. It can be abit gross but it does work. I've got the pink double action one and its okay - can only manage a spoonful tho or I gag!

EeyoreIsh · 09/08/2013 11:58

I'm not sure I'll be able to stomach gaviscon but I'll give it a try! I've just made myself a cup of mint tea which might help.

I'm so woeful today! Can't wait to finish work and go on holiday and snooze by the pool all week!

Milkandtwo · 09/08/2013 11:58

bare 4 times a night, minimum. I'm knackered.

LittlePandaBear · 09/08/2013 12:13

Just read Milk's post and thought you were all still talking about sex!

I was impressed Grin

Be careful with milk for heartburn as it seems to be a 50/50 thing. 50% of people find it helps, 50% of people find it causes heartburn. It gives me terrible heartburn Hmm
