Hi Morien and welcome. I was nervous about joining the thread too as terrified I'd jinx myself but it's all been good so far and they're/we're a lovely bunch!! So don't worry. You've made it past the big hurdle.

I get the heartbeat in my tummy thing too - but I don't only get it when I'm pregnant, I also get it when I've eaten too much Grin

Lol morien I second Champagne in that no question is too daft ... speaking of which, marzipanned I had never noticed it before, but tbh yesterday I had just had dinner when I noticed it!

I've not had the heartbeat in my tummy thing. I kept having a muscles flutter just above my tummy. Scared the crap outta me!

Thanks gnitting - might have to head up there and take a look before the big day and decide whether it's worth the hassle of changing midwives etc. Birth centre + consultant led on one site would be a definite bonus, plus am already worried about getting to tunbridge wells hospital if there's a problem on the a21/baby decides to make an appearance at rush hour. It's a horrendous route even when not in labour!

I've got a question for the ladies who are still nauseous and vomiting but have got it sort of under control.

Are there any foods or drinks that are really helping you at the moment?

For me I've got this cinnamon tea from Yogi teas which is amazing - but of course it doesn't fill me up and I find I'm spending a huge amount of the day in this cycle of - okay, feeling sick, let's eat something to make me feel better, oh that didn't work, what else can I try now..

The bland carbs etc aren't really doing it for me any more. I made a pot of lentil and vegetable soup which was amazing but it's run out and I don't have the ingredients to make more til my online shop arrives (would help if I ordered it first...)

Marzipanned I feel your pain as am still puking most days and have noticed that when I'm particularly tired, I feel pretty nauseous all day long as well. My latest discovery is orange squash. Would never normally drink squash (not a fan of too much sugar and genuinely love drinking water) but maybe my body is crying out for the sugary energy rush or the added vitamins or something but it's now my go-to drink of choice. Nice and cold with a couple of ice cubes. Food-wise I'm still very hit and miss and haven't really found anything that I can reliably eat that will make me feel a bit better. It's rubbish isn't it!

11+6 today!

Afternoon ladies Smile

Welcome Morien

Had my scan this morning and I have a healthy little bean! Cannot tell you how relieved I feel. I'd managed to work myself up into a bit of a state beforehand and was convinced there was going to be something wrong.

The little bean was wriggling around like crazy, so amazing to watch! The lovely sonographer gave us 3 pictures rather than just the one we paid for, and all I want to is stare at them all day!

Next job for the afternoon is telling the big boss...wish me luck!

Oh, and I also measured 2 days ahead of where I thought I was, so I'm now 12+1 with a new EDD of 18th Feb Grin

Hi Morien Smile

Congratulations Harlem. It's amazing isn't it, I carry my scan photos with me everywhere and show everyone I meet! I'm turning into one of those people I hated before I got pregnant who just talk about their kids the whole time!!!!GrinWink

I have brown discharge. Sad Phoned my GP and I'm booked in to see the mw tomorrow morning. That seems a lifetime away. My cervix feels sore too. Don't know what to do as DP is at work and the kids are with me.

Lovely news Harlem

Thingy oh what a horrid thing to happen. But brown is generally good, right? Because it's older blood? Could be from your little one shuffling around or settling into a new position perhaps? What did the GP say?

Try to take it as easy as possible this afternoon and evening (I don't know about where you are, but it's tipping it down here, so could you have a DVD and duvet afternoon with the kids)

Thinking of you.

misskatamari · 07/08/2013 15:09

Oh no Thingy - that must be a worry. I've heard mentioned a lot that brown means old blood through so try not to get too worried - it's hopefully nothing to be concerned about x

Report
Thingymajigs · 07/08/2013 15:16

It's probably nothing but its impossible to put it out of my mind. The GP sounded concerned although he was obviously googling my symptoms as we spoke on the phone. And we all know how worrying Dr Google can be.
I don't know what the mw can do but maybe check for a heartbeat or refer me for a scan.
Good idea, yes I'll put a film on for the boys and try to relax. I just needed to tell someone because DP isn't here. Not sure I will tell him... Thanks for replies. x

malteser yes! I have that regularly. Don't think I've ever had it when not pregnant! Maybe it's to do with the extra blood circulating?

champagne I went on hol 5 hours' drive away at 36 weeks last time and this time I think I'll be 35 weeks at Christmas-ish when we usually go to in laws which is also miles away. I'd still plan to go. Maybe get a room in the wedding reception venue so you can have a lie down if needed? :) I worked til nearly 37 weeks last time and was ok. Think I'll be stopping at 33/34 this time due to the holidays working out quite nicely!

morien Hello!! You're right- people only ever said stuff like 'oh I won't tell you all about my birth then' and the like and it did scare me. But I knew how my mum had done it and thought 'if she can, I can' kind of thing!

Report
Timpani · 07/08/2013 15:57

thingy it is such a worrying thing to happen. But the good news is that mw's etc don't tend to be concerned with brown, especially in small quantities. Have you, err, had any 'action' lately? I have had a bit of brown before after...

Mw could check heartbeat but they usually don't til at least 16 weeks as it's really hard to find and she might not find it even if all's fine and well. She could do an internal exam maybe?

harlem congrats!

We did have sex on Sunday so perhaps it could be old blood from then? I did move suddenly yesterday and felt a stretch/tear around my womb area so possibly that too.
Thanks, I have calmed down now as it appears to have stopped.
Sorry to distrupt the thread.
Hello to the newbies and everyone checking in after their scans. Lovely news. Smile

Don't be silly Thingy, you haven't disrupted the thread, that's what the thread is for! Glad it's stopped - does sound like it might have been sex related.

Haven't had sex in SO long - is anyone else still not feeling like it at all?

LittlePandaBear · 07/08/2013 17:54

Hello everyone,

I've been catching up as I haven't posted for a while. My heart goes out to those with sad news Sad

Thingy fingers crossed all will be absolutely fine, but I understand how it can be worrying. Let us know when you've seen a midwife.

I've had a busy week so far telling people the 'news'. I decided to tell my boss as he's on holiday for a few weeks after this week and it felt like too long to wait, when I feel like I'm showing already (not that anyone had noticed due to all of my baggy tops!). Being a man, he didn't really know what to say, but he was happy for me. He then spent the rest of the day trying to work out what to do with my role when I'm on mat leave, as I work 3 days and it's not straightforward to find a replacement from outside the business. But at least I've given plenty of time to sort it out! He also asked if he needed to get me a special chair... Confused I didn't think my bum had grown THAT much!

Champagne, I agree with others that you should accept the invite if it's a good friend, and she'll understand if you can't make it. With a first baby you're more likely to be late than early anyway! (sorry!)

My office is already planning the Xmas do and I've booked a hotel for mid December in the city centre as taxi's cost so much. I don't think I'll be partying all night in my highest heels but don't fancy the faff of getting a last train home by myself. I figure that it'll be my last chance in a while for a night out so hopefully I can cope with it at 7 months gone!

My last birth experience was a c section as she was breech. I'm the most squeamish person ever but the staff calmed me down as much as possible, and delivered her perfectly with no problems for either of us. I may not have pushed her out myself but it was still an acheivement - I'd 'grown' her for 9 months and my perfect little girl was here safe and sound! You can't ask for more than that. So the only birth advice I can give is be prepared for anything but ultimately you have to trust your doctors/midwifes on what's best for you and baby! If it was that bad no one would ever have more than one child.

Sorry for my essay, I'll finish on fashion Smile.

I ordered a few dresses from Seraphine which looked lovely on the website. However on 5ft 2 me the 'knee' length dresses were almost at my ankles and the sizing was huge! Quality also wasn't up to much. Very disappointed! If you're tall then you could give them a go, but go down a size unless you want a baggy shapeless smock!

Next Maternity also seem to have big sizes - I'm usually a 12 in bottoms and the size 10 skirt I have from them plenty of growing room! Anyone have any other clothes recommendations?

12+6

Hahaha laura I wish I could trade sex drives with you! Feel really bad denying DH sex for so long!

Champagne I haven't had any cramps but I do get pains around the bottom of my abdomen when I stand up too quickly or something like that - more like ligament pain? Could it be that? Or maybe just uterus stretching?

Panda lovely to hear another positive c section story.

I haven't bought any maternity stuff at all - hate shopping for myself so am putting it off until absolutely necessary. I've got a wedding at the end of this month so guess I'll have to buy something for that.
