Yay miss. Smile It's such a relief isn't it.
Oh don't worry about the foot muff for the car seat, its really not needed and quite expensive. It lines the inside of the seat and also covers the baby so might be useful if you use the seat as part of a travel system too.

Timpani · 17/08/2013 19:19

Omg at surprise birth!!!

Hugs somany for the low iron - that sucks :(

I feel a bit crap. Tmi but has bad tummy ache (thought it was contractions :o but then had an explosive loo visit :( nasty.

I'm a bit worried cos my bump is sooo small. I thought with number 2 you were bigger... Plus I am not sure i am feeling anything now. 16 weeks today. I threw up this morning though...ugh. MW appt is on Thursday. Hope she listens for heartbeat. Need a bit of reassurance!

misskatamari · 17/08/2013 19:38

Timpani sorry you're feeling crap. I think it's hard when the symptoms start easing but you can't feel movement yet. Do you know when your next mw appointment is?

misskatamari · 17/08/2013 19:39

Thanks thingy - atleast the footmuff for the bjcs is "only" about 38 quid - I've seen some for other prams that are 80+ so atleast it won't break the bank if we do get one. I guess our winter babies will probably benefit from them Grin

Awwww I'm so glad you're having a lovely time champagne!

Sun wise I know that when pregnant your skin gets more sensitive and is more likely to develop pigmentation if out in the sun unprotected. I think it's fine to be in the sun but to make sure to have sun screen on and to try not to be out in direct sun when the suns at its most concentrated (11-3). I'd just make sure you're careful not to burn and you should be fine x

Milkandtwo · 17/08/2013 23:08

I sunbathed in Greece - you just need to be careful not to let your body overheat, obviously sunstroke would be awful news, so bring your overall temp down with cool drinks, swims etc. But your body is pretty good at regulating it's temperature! My friend freaked out about me being out in hot sun but i reminded her that babies are successfully born in hot countries all the time! And yes you are risking dodgy skin pigmentation but I fortunately escaped that. Loads
of sunscreen and listen to your body and ENJOY! Happy you're feeling good!

Milkandtwo · 17/08/2013 23:10

...And yes, hydrate of course. All my doctor friends sunbathed sensibly whilst pg too so that made me feel better too! Think of all the vitamin D you're synthesising Smile

LittlePandaBear · 17/08/2013 23:15

I'm usually paranoid in the sun about suncream as I'm pale but I still managed to burn my bump last time whilst sunbathing and falling asleep - I was about 5 months pregnant. I felt awful and like the worst mother to be ever! But it was just skin that was burnt, baby was of course fine and I covered my belly up completely for the rest of the holiday!

Very jealous of you being on your hols, have a fab time.

Timpani · 18/08/2013 08:07

Ooo enjoy the holiday! Sounds wonderful!

I feel loads better today :)

Remember I said I had that app on my phone 'my baby's beat'? It's just for fun and not supposed to be used til 3rd tri but last night I found baby's heart beat within a minute! Plus I got a recording of it!! Amazing!! For £2.99 it's well worth it ;) it's basically just an amplifier using the iPhones microphone!

Milkandtwo · 18/08/2013 08:27

Heads up: Whoever recommended 'Hot Milk' (maternity underwear) - there's a sale of it in Zulily. Bit more affordable!

misskatamari · 18/08/2013 08:42

Ooooh I'd never heard of Zulily milkandtwo - thanks for the heads up! Oh my gosh this is so cute - i want it for me! Vet PJs

jazzcat28 · 18/08/2013 09:01

timpani just tried the app but can only find my heartbeat. Not too worried as am only 14+0 today and the app states its really hard to find anything before 30wks. Cheaper than a Doppler but guess not as powerful for these early weeks!

Milkandtwo · 18/08/2013 09:04

Yes misskat! Want! They are awesome

tiegysmum · 18/08/2013 09:23

Morning all, haven't posted for a while but been watching the thread, we had our gender scan yesterday & found out we are having a boy... Very excited especially as we have 2 girls!! Scan was amazing but asked the sonographer to change from 4d to 2d as I just found that freaky lol... Now to buy blue!!! 16 weeks & 3 days today! Xx

misskatamari · 18/08/2013 09:37

Wow tiegys that's so exciting!!! Grin Congratulations! Oooh I bet you can't wait to go and buy some cute little baby boy things!

I can't wait to find out what we're having - only about 4 weeks to go Smile

tiegysmum · 18/08/2013 09:41

Thank you Miss, I've just spent a fortune online after being warned not too... What else is there to do on a Sunday morning? Lol... 4 weeks will fly in xx

marzipanned · 18/08/2013 12:23

Champagne so glad the holiday is working out well!

tiegys what lovely news! Do you mind me asking, was the baby quiet or active at the 12 week scan? (Gathering evidence for our theory..)

Well things got really bad for me at the end of last week so I've been taking my last few cyclizine tablets for the last two days and have been able to eat and drink normally. Am going to go back to the doctor tomorrow and beg for more - I don't think I can cope otherwise.

littlestgirlguide · 18/08/2013 12:30

Why lovely news tiegys!
I wonder how I can persuade DH to let me have a private scan to find out the sex? They won't tell you at the 20 week scan here, you have to pay to have an additional one. He's already got 3 girls, and my gut feeling is that this is another girl... But having always said I would rather have a surprise, I'm starting to want to know! I've got a loft full of girls stuff, I want to know if I need to sell it and buy boys stuff, and I've got an image of a gorgeous boy's nursery in my head which I would love to make a reality - I don't want another cream and lemon nursery!

tiegysmum · 18/08/2013 12:38

Marzipanned the baby was ultra active at the 12 weeks scan!! Never stopped moving, I hope the cyclizine works for you it didn't work for me I had to be prescribed another anti sickness, metroclopramide & although I'm much much better than I was I still puke most days & google told me sickness is a sign its a girl lol :-) littelest we paid for our scan yest think it cost £60 was worth it though to know, dunno why this time as with the girls I was happy to wait for the surprise... I'm sure you could persuade you dh if you really try... There's always a way! Xx

Somanychanges · 18/08/2013 12:43

Oh I really cannot wait to find out. I have ages to go until my 20wk scan. My husband is convinced from the look of it, it is a girl. The plan for this pregnancy was to have a surprise but since I have been pregnant that has gone out of the window.

I have a definite belly now. But to those of you who don't and were a bit concerned don't worry, when I was 6 months pregnant with my DD no one would know I was pregnant unless I told them I had such a neat bump by the end. Being my third pregnancy now however, I am not so lucky and it is quite obvious now unless I wear floaty tops.

marzipanned · 18/08/2013 13:10

Tiegys yes that does support the theory of busy baby = boy!

littlest the protocol is not to tell us at the NHS scan here, but I'm going to wait til after the scan before paying for a private one because I figure that (a) you might just be able to tell anyway, if the baby is lying in a certain position and (b) you might get a lovely sonographer who breaks the rules for you!

Somanychanges · 18/08/2013 13:26

Marzipanned for he theory please clarify what amounts to active? Confused

My little one was awake and was moving sucking its fingers moving its legs up and down, but all in what looked like a relaxed manner. It was not kicking furiously or doing somersaults. So what am I having? (based on the theory). Grin

My name that I have chosen is Avah, but husband and kids detest it. Both my children end in 'ah' so I thought it went well. It also flows really well with our surname. I have always loved that name and quite like Isabella as a second name. I know it is now supposed to be quite popular but I do not know anyone by that name and I love it.

So ladies are you on my side or my husbands side?

tiegysmum · 18/08/2013 13:40

Somany... This is defo a theory I'm not sure of but can tell you our baby was "bouncing" whilst doing all the things you described, it was almost as if he knew he was being watched and putting on a bit of a show!! This is also my third child and I can now see my body shape changing much quicker than with the girls... I also loved the name Avah it's gorgeous and also like the "ah" ending names, think we've pretty much settled on Noah James for our son (feels a bit mad typing that!!!) Marzipanned I hope you get a nice sonographer... :-) xx

marzipanned · 18/08/2013 13:57

Hmm somany I predict... a girl. Or a very calm boy. Grin

It's a silly idea, but there's just been a correlation (among my friends and some of the women on this thread) between really active babies (the somersaulters) being boys and really chilled babies (the have to get up and do a little dance to get them to move in order to measure them) being girls.

I think Avah is a lovely name, though I think it looks nicer somehow as Ava. Which name are you worried about being popular, Avah or Isabella? I know one Ava and heaps of Isabellas.

Noah is gorgeous - it was on my initial list but DH says it sounds 'too biblical' (he then suggested David...)
