New thread and ever hopeful as we move into second trimester that we'll all feel wonderful soon...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bearfrills · 16/08/2013 12:35

I'm going to ask for a face to face meeting and offer some potential solutions too so that I'm not just bombarding her with problems. Positive with the negative.

Shadow men? That would scare me! I'd be sending DH in to deal with that particular nightmare :o

DH laughing in the night would creep me out too. Mine just talks in his sleep, annoying but not so eerie.

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 16/08/2013 15:29

Ahhhhh. After a horrible trip to the vets this morning I've just had my 16wk appt and heard my baby's heartbeat! Yay. Tempted to buy a Doppler now! X

mrscookie78 · 16/08/2013 17:43

Always magic when you hear the heartbeat. I heard it last week at the hospital Smile

Milkandtwo · 16/08/2013 18:07

Lush. Do it.

Love,
The doppler-pusher.

CubanoHabana · 16/08/2013 19:33

For those who have had their 16 week appointment, roughly how long was it, as i need to make arrangements for someone to cover my lessons at school...

laura0007 · 16/08/2013 19:53

Mine was 10 minutes. Literally did blood pressure, listened to baby's heartbeat asked if all was well and that was it!

vix206 · 16/08/2013 20:22

Cubano mine was 10 mins too.

CubanoHabana · 16/08/2013 20:32

Thanks! Frustrating though, as only appointment was 9am but I start school at 8.30 and I live nearly an hour away, so looks like I will miss first 2 lessons and get back in time for break! Oh well, can't be helped.

Gotta tell my head on Thursday... Should be interesting, as exam results are in that day, she will also no doubt want to speak about the incident that occurred at the summer school I was the coordinator of and then telling her that my department will have yet another person on maternity leave this year...

Same day I have dentist appointment for another filling... Not looking forwards to Thursday!

littlestgirlguide · 16/08/2013 21:14

I've got my 16 week appt next week, and when I rang to book it I was told I could only have the next available, they wouldn't leave a gap in the diary at all. They were booked up till 10.15, which gives me the 10.30 slot... Which is not enough time to go to work first, and even if they're running on time and it's only 10 minutes, I won't get to work until 12. My work diary is closed 12 - 1 for my lunch break and so a 10 minute appt will take me out of work, effectively, for four and a half hours. My boss is going to be happy about that, I'm sure!

Well done champagne! Have a great holiday

misskatamari · 16/08/2013 21:34

Hope your head is understanding Cubano. Its horrid telling school you'll be on maternity isn't it. I felt like I had to keep apologising, but luckily our head is lovely and seemed pleased for me. To be fair I have worked there for 7 years now and plenty of people who have been there much less time have been off on maternity (some a few times) so I feel like i'm definitely due my turn Smile (if that makes sense).

Littlest that midwife appointment system sounds ridiculous!

Oh my god, I am still reading that spooky thread and I am pooing myself now! Need to stop and go and read a happy book in bed and hope i don't need to wee to much in the night as i'll be scared!

Congrats champagne!

I'm still reading the spooky thread as well, but keep getting sidetracked by other links that people put on, so taking longer to read!

It's my fourth year at my school but I have been given a lot of top set gcse classes, so feel really guilty as will be going on mat in run up to them, one new in sept, year 11 class in particular has had a lot of supply teachers and are working at at least one year below where they should be and last year was a very hard slog by me to pull them up at all... Really don't want to leave them with a supply teacher for their last chance at gcse...

Timpani · 17/08/2013 05:24

Gulp at the thought of telling school! I'm nervous as hell about it. I'll go back in Sept at 18 weeks pregnant... Not sure I'll be able to get the words out before they guess. Baggy clothes for the first day back! My bump is tiny at the moment but I've still got two weeks growing time!

I've only been back since February this year so won't have even been back a full year. They're going to love me...! I have actually got some decent classes this year as when I returned half way through last year my timetable wasn't great. We already have one other on maternity at the moment too. Gulp. I don't know how I'm going to get the words out, I really don't. Last time everyone knew really early on as I was in hospitalised... Argh!!!

sunflowered · 17/08/2013 07:29

I'm not a teacher but having a bit of a wobble this week about when to tell my (slightly old school) director. He's just started talking about developing my role - so work would be a lot more interesting from sept to jan if that happens - but has a tendency to be a little on the sexist side so I worry I'll be completely sidelined if I tell him before everything's sorted. He's also on leave the same dates as me coming back in mid-sept, but he's just come back from sick leave after a serious illness that stress can exacerbate, so I don't want to tell him straight after my scan this week only for him to then spend his holiday - when he's meant to be relaxing - stewing about work. But depending on how much I grow during the holiday it could be a little awkward if it's the first thing he notices when we both come back... Though at least I don't have classes of nosy teenagers to contend with when I get back from holiday! Just the one middle aged man.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 17/08/2013 08:22

I told work after 12 week scan. Strong rumours of a reshuffle and redundancies meant I wanted it known sooner rather than later. My firm will be careful to avoid any tribunal worthy behaviour (hopefully).

I wondered why the thread was so fast and the teachers on summer hols might have something to do with it.

I am 95% sure I felt some baby ninja moves on Thursday so
I am on high alert for the next ones now!

jazzcat28 · 17/08/2013 08:53

Just waking from almost 12hrs sleep and actually feel like I could sleep some more!

Feel sorry for all you teachers breaking the news but I have a lot of teacher mummy friends and know you get decent mat pay at least so hopefully that softens the blow!

I'm on statutory minimum so 6wks at 90% pay then rest at £125 a wk Sad DH found out this week he is under consultation for redundancy so now my evenings are spent job hunting for him rather than pram browsing.

212VIP · 17/08/2013 08:58

Morning all!
Wanted to raise the subject of 4D scans.
Although this is DC3 I've never had one before.
Just wondered if any of you had experienced them and what your thoughts were.
This will be my last chance so wondering if I should so I can't say I never did.
But I DO NOT want to find out the sex and someone has told me its very obvious in 3D!

vix206 · 17/08/2013 09:18

So jealous jazzcat. I've been up between 2.30 and 4.30 with DS and then he woke up for the day at 7. This is the 6th night on a row we've had problems after months of unbroken sleep. So exhausted and grumpy Confused

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 17/08/2013 09:59

Morning.

Did anyone else see this on Thursday?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1827550-sorry-tmi-but-what-could-this-be?pg=1

I was reading it thinking 'I swear it's gallstones, been there, it's horrible, it'll pass!'.

Sooooo exciting x

mrscookie78 · 17/08/2013 10:35

Oh my god, I did laugh when I read that she had a baby. I always wondered how people could not know. I always feel so rough and then I feel different. watched a lot of these programmes on sky during my last pregnancy.
For you ladies that have already got children, could you imagine having tummy ache and then giving birth?

But yes gallstones is awful, had it last time and have had stomach aches and shoulder pains this time too. trying to be good and cut out too much fatty foods.

Hope you have a nice holiday Champagne, you anywhere nice?

I finally finished the linked thread to the spooky thread. just the original link to read now. love the stories Smile

Somanychanges · 17/08/2013 11:03

I only could dream of getting through a pregnancy without knowing. I just cannot imagine though how it is possible unless you are extremely overweight. What about all those leg and bum sticking out in last trimester.

Not that I am jealous or anything, and miserable that I can't help but know I'm pregnant at 5weeks when I start violently throwing up, weeing every hour, smelling things from miles away and having breasts so sore I can no longer bare to lie in them Sad no not envious at all.

I am so tired, the midwife phoned yesterday to say she had my bloods back and was really worried about my iron levels and I need to go to the doctor. She said I cannot let it get any lower or I will become really ill. The thing is, is taking iron makes me feel sick not great when you have HG. Additionally, makes me constipated which I already am because if the anti sickness meds. (Big sigh)

Anyway moan over, hope you are all having a good morning and champagne hope you are enjoying your holiday.
13+3

Bearfrills · 17/08/2013 11:15

After reading that thread I've made a deal with the baby that s/he will pop out after just three hours of labour, s/he will not tear anything or damage anything and will not require me to have major abdominal surgery. I'm glad we've got this little understanding, at least the baby now knows what to do :o

I know someone who didn't know she was pregnant until 26-28wks (it's harder to accurately date a pregnancy at that point). She'd been TTC so when she missed a period and did a pregnancy test, it was positive, around 8wks later she went for her 12wk scan and was actually somewhere between 26 and 28wks. She wasn't even showing and was really quite thin. My cousin was like that though, she herself could notice a bump and when she showed you her bare belly you could see a mild curve to it but with a top on (even a semi-tight one) she didn't look nine months pregnant. There were people who didn't even realise she had been pregnant until they saw her with a pram afterwards! She had abs of steel, mind you, so they probably contributed to holding everything in tight (she still does have abs on steel, I'm so jealous).

BlushBlushBlush Bloody hell! BlushBlushBlush

I don't know what else to say to that post. How did she not know? Surely she was the size of a house? Omg.....
