Sorry now as a working link
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1817547-Does-anyone-remember-this-spooky-experience-told-on-MN#thread
One page in and I've had to get out of bed and put the
main light on. What a dick.

mrscookie78 · 15/08/2013 23:17

oooh I will have a good read tomorrow when its daylight Smile I have a few spooky stories of my own. I used to see people when I was younger and one house I lived in with my parents was slighty haunted. least with that one my friends saw figures and heard things too so it wasn't just my word Grin

mrscookie78 · 15/08/2013 23:19

If anyone is close to Camberley, there is a shop on the A30 called baby gear and they have a shop full of buggies and prams to look at. also think there is a shop in Wallingford kind of Oxford way that has loads of buggies. john lewis always has lots to ooh over. Smile

Milkandtwo · 15/08/2013 23:38

Ooh, tomorrow mrscookie, please share! I hate love it. I'm still reading, had to call DH to come to bed so I could turn the main light off again (it's very bright).

mrscookie78 · 15/08/2013 23:41

oops! Smile rather it was daylight when talking about creepy things! Grin anyone seen that you tube video where the guy made a doll from the ring and made it look like it was coming out their tv, and scared his gf!

vix206 · 16/08/2013 07:38

Littleen, I know Amelia is meant to be v popular but I've yet to meet one!

vix206 · 16/08/2013 07:40

212VIP and others looking for full cup nursing bras. I always buy Freya and they're lovely. Fig leaves often have sales on for maternity and nursing bras.

Welcome Holly Smile

Timpani · 16/08/2013 07:48

Three posts in on that thread and I'm freaked right out LOL!

Welcome newbies!

I'm STILL wearing nursing bras from last time and still feeding DS1! Good to know there are some nice ones about as I'm just in M&S ones as they were the only ones to do massive ones. I got to a 34G at one point last time. I mean, when people BF their boobs are generally bigger so why do loads of types of nursing bras stop at DD?!

Oh, and our hosp only has one birthing pool yet it was available even though I didn't end up using it. If it's busy this time then I'll know I'll be ok - the baths are massive too, just not quite as accessible and big as the pool!

sunflowered · 16/08/2013 08:03

I got to the post with the pointy toothed baby and had to stop!

Bearfrills · 16/08/2013 08:26

Is anyone else waking up earlier and earlier? I'm normally fond of a lie in but lately I just can't seem to have one! DS and DD have decided to sleep late today, DS is in bed with me all cuddled up and sleep warm ... and I'm wide awake

Back to work this afternoon after a few days off. I emailed my manager in Tuesday as they're changing my shifts so I'll finish at 8pm. Unfortunately the bus company is changing my buses and there'll no longer be an 8:15pm bus home, it'll be either 7:55pm or 8:55pm. I mailed her to say that for various reasons (mainly being pregnant) I'm not comfortable with the idea of Sitting in the bus station alone for an hour every night and that the 8:55pm bus won't get me home until 10pm, I'm not keen on the idea of having my tea at that time of night either. I've asked if I can start 20mins earlier and finish 20mina earlier so I can catch the 7:55 bus.

Dreading going in as I think her reply will be no and I might actually have to quit my job :(

Milkandtwo · 16/08/2013 08:33

Oh no bear what a predicament... Crossing fingers for you she'll be reasonable.

mrscookie78 · 16/08/2013 08:44

Fingers crossed bear!

I started reading the spooky thread but clicked on an older thread and have been reading through that on my phone, but that's charging so will finish it later!

I saw a couple of figures when i was younger. But the spookiest one was my parents house, it was a new build but on marsh land so god know what was there many years ago. I did try to find out but had no luck! I saw a lady in white in the garden once. I used to have sleep overs in the lounge when my folks were away and i was asleep on the floor next to the fireplace and my friend woke up and saw someone sat there next to me! My mum reckoned she saw my brother stood at the front door, but he was asleep in bed as she checked on him! We used to hear footsteps most nights across the landing down the stairs and into the kitchen, sounded like they made some squash then back upstairs again! Confused

My boobs didn't grow last time until my milk came in after ds was born and then they were huge for the first time! Grin

mrscookie78 · 16/08/2013 08:45

I know a little girl called Amelia and there are loads around where I live!

Milkandtwo · 16/08/2013 08:55

Well that's a bit bloody freaky mrscookie! (neither the boobs not amelia)
Never had anything woo happen to me but I'm completely fascinate by spooky stories!
Reading all those last night made me go a bit weird though. I woke up a 4am and grabbed DH in a panic as I thought there was a pink flamingo* in bed with us. A pink flamingo ffs. And that was momentarily terrifying to me.
*this is not a euphemism

Milkandtwo · 16/08/2013 08:57

Wish my boobs hadn't grown. I'm quite petite - short and size 8 and then have these enormous g cup waps. They don't look real and that is not a look that I'm keen on! Also killing my back. What the hell will they look like when my milk comes in?! Though I suppose I'll have a big bump there to balance them/explain the size a bit!

pourmeanother · 16/08/2013 09:56

My boobs aren't going as mad big this time on 3rd pregnancy. Just about finished breastfeeding DD2 (18 mths) now so will see if that starts making them fuller soon. I'm pretty sure when I'm done with feeding this next baby I'll be a cup size or so smaller than when I started having children. Honestly, you should see them when my milk comes in. They go insane and not in a sexy way. Think more milking cow! Really get sore too from being so massive. One of the midwives I had with DD2 in hospital just couldn't believe her eyes and asked if I'd had them 'augmented'! She must have seen her fair share of mad inflated milk boobs too. Thank god they go down after a while!

If anyone's interested I bought the icandy peach for DD1 4 years ago then converted it into double buggy (blossom) for DD2 18 months ago. I've always loved it. So easy to push about. Horribly expensive but I figure I've used it so so much it has been worth the cash. Hoping it'll see me out for another 3 years or so for next baby, sharing with DD2 for next year or 2. Only issues I've ever had have been the handle has snapped twice. Sent it off to icandy and was fixed straightaway, when out of warranty 2nd time it happened cost £50. When it goes double buggy you do need a fair bit of car boot space to chuck all parts in too. People are right that the seats aren't huge. I put my 3 and half year old in the lower back seat and she can still squeeze in. She's average sized so is still working for us. Obviously at that age she's far more out of the pram than in it but it is a bloody life saver for us when we're out and she gets tired and whingy. Beats a buggy board a million times over!

misskatamari · 16/08/2013 10:31

Oooh good to know pourmeanother. We're expecting DC1 but want kids close together so I'm hoping to get one that converts. Quite liking the look of the baby jogger city select at the moment but I know it is quite big. Hoping to go and look at some later if I stop feeling sick!

Oooooh gonna have a read of the spooky thread! I love a good ghost story - but do get ridiculously scared of them! Wanted to visit a haunted house when we went to York but I knew I would probably just end up freaked out. DH joked that "you don't want the baby to get possessed" and I was like "hahaha" (not like that thought has crossed my mind....) lol!

I measured my boobs yesterday for ordering a top online and they are 3 inches bigger than when i measured before i was pregnant. Eeeek! Mine are already an E cup so god knows how massive they'll end up!

misskatamari · 16/08/2013 10:33

Oh my god I'm scared already - the old lady in the baby's room!!! eeeeek!!!

barebranches · 16/08/2013 10:47

i have a big bruise on my tiny bump... very weird... i dont remember bashing it, but yesterday i kept getting twinges inside. according to the heart monitor baby is on the other side. Then last night DH spottef the bruise. weird!

Bearfrills · 16/08/2013 11:05

Babies are always good for a few frights, when they learn to laugh is a lovely time but both of mine used to 'practice' in their sleep. Nothing more eerie than waking up at 3am to the sound of your baby chuckling in his/her sleep. DS is a great one for scaring me as he has lots of imaginary friends. A few weeks ago he popped downstairs at 10pm to tell me in a very matter-of-fact voice "there's a man in my bedroom ... ", DH ran upstairs, I grabbed the phone preparing to ring the police, DS continued his sentence to say " ... It's the number-taker come to visit."

Little toad :o

He also tells me about the little boy who lives in the downstairs loo and sings to him while he's on the toilet, and the dog that lives in the bathroom. We also have several baby ducks under the sofa including DS' favourite baby duck, that one travels in DS' pocket everywhere he goes.

I've rang Unison for advice about work. Apparently as my contract doesn't specifically say 'twilight shift' I can refuse (politely and professionally) to do it even though I was originally hired for those shifts. So long as I agree to do my required number of hours I'm not in breech. They said that because I've been doing day shifts I should be allowed to stay on them, especially a twilight will have a detrimental effect on my well being due to being pregnant, the transport issues put me in a vulnerable position (again exasperated by pregnant - pregnant woman on her own in a city centre bus station late at night), and they would also have a detrimental effect on my home life because hen DS starts school in a few weeks it would mean I won't see him at all Monday to Friday as I'll be away to work before he's home from school and he'll be in bed by the time I get home.

I hate making waves at work, I don't want to be branded a trouble maker and I know there'll be people who think I should just suck it up but I've been in my current shifts for five months now so all of our routine is based around thes shifts. In June I was offered three full days instead whch I accepted and now I all of a sudden I have to do twilight shifts until they find a replacement for me but they can't give me a date or even an estimated date when this will be. I've already waited two months for my three full days. I'm feeling a bit messed about.

ch1134 · 16/08/2013 11:10

hope the bruise goes away
regarding waterbirths - I love water, am always in the sea or the pool. However, now things aren't as straightforward as I'd hoped it looks like I might not get a waterbirth... will definitely be asking at next appointment on Weds

misskatamari · 16/08/2013 11:16

Don't feel bad about it Bear - its completely reasonable for you not feel comfortable sitting alone in a bus station for an hour at night! Rubbish that they can't give you an idea of when you can go FT instead. You need to put your well being first so don't worry about what others think (I know it's hard). Good luck, I hope they are supportive and understanding!

Milkandtwo · 16/08/2013 11:20

oh my god Bear, if my child started coming out with stuff like that I would utterly lose my s^*t.
This is now shot to being number one of the most potentially terrifying thing about parenthood list.
Awesome.

vix206 · 16/08/2013 12:07

My DS is having nightly terrors at the moment, always about the 'shadowmen' that come through his door and stand in the corner watching him with their white eyes.

I have absolutely no belief whatsoever in anything spooky or supernatural, so it doesn't freak me out in the slightest luckily! I can read horror stories all day and just think its a load of old cobblers Grin

Not saying it doesn't scare the life out of me when he wakes up screaming the house down, but at least I don't have the added problem of wondering if he's really seeing things etc.

sunflowered · 16/08/2013 12:29

Bear - I woke my DH up a few weeks ago because he was making a noise like he was crying but trying to keep me from hearing. Turns out he was laughing in his dream - it's not just little ones that do it to scare us!

Really hope you can get your shifts sorted out. I think they have to make reasonable adjustments during pregnancy and your request sounds v reasonable to me.
