Good point Laura, it could even be twin boys! AGHHHHHHHHHH!

Ummmm, for some unknown reason I just read the last few pages of the Due August 2013 Thread..... don't do it.... I blubbed. They are actually giving birth right now, and theyre all complaining and have stretch marks and are angry and are discussing the smell of their discharge and think theyre having braxton hicks, oh and not forgetting the safe arrival of Seamus and Frances..... Double AGHHHHHHHHH!

Littlest I know youre preggers and all but if you could hot foot it up Pride Hill and bring me some nice fudge from the craft tent I would be totes grateful, plus what ever Mr Hollywood is baking, i'm at work and bored out of my brain (hence why i'm reading threads such as AIBU To Steal A Badly Treated Bunny, etc.).

Shropshiremummy2b · 10/08/2013 14:38

PS If you havent already joined ACHICA may I recommend you do so? They tend to be quite luxury bits and bobs but occassionally have big discounts so give it a go x

pettyprudence · 10/08/2013 14:57

jazz I only bought a mass of white sleep suits and vests in newborn size and we were given a lot of clothes as gifts, lots of vests in particular. mostly 3-6 months. after they are born you can sort out the next sizes.
I went into town today and got some bright pink jeans from jojos for £5 and winter tights from h&m for £2 a pair. going to get my maternity stuff out of the attic later. with all the clothes I have bought in last 48hours plus a huge bag from my friend, I potentially have more maternity clothes than non mat Shock
I am doubly pleased with my jojo jeans as they are a size 10 and im normally a 14. I would really recommend going down in their sizes!

Jazz I think it depends how generous friends and family are going to be. Mine were not haha so I didn't get masses of baby clothes as gifts. I bought it all my self prior to birth.

I like baby grows and cardigans for the first 6 months as I just prefer them to be comfy so for my DS I just bought a whole load of vests, baby grows and cardigans. However I must admit I went completely over the top with my first my DD and bought LOADS of outfits so much that she didn't even wear half of them.

My friend is planning on throwing me a baby shower, I have never had one before but it seems to be all the rage in the UK now a days. So I am not going to say no. I am hoping that I get a fair bit then. Plus I am praying its a girl as I have kept all my daughters baby clothes so in that case I won't actually need any clothes for the first 18 months..

I am jealous of everyone talking of buying maternity clothes, baby clothes, prams and cots. We have just moved house (huge cost) and just taken our daughter out of state education to put her into private. So we are on a tight budget for a while. Which means no money to buy any goodies Sad

Milkandtwo · 10/08/2013 15:20

I've just driven 2.5 hours to Portsmouth to buy a pram! I've replaced my pub time with eBay bargain combing time and found the one i wanted (iCandy strawberry - I love the peach but as I'm not planning 2 just yet the strawberry is a bit smaller and lighter weight) for half what it retails for brand new (it's 6 months old and in perfect nick) so couldn't let the opportunity pass me by... Long old drive though and my lower back is complaining! Still got to drive back...

Milkandtwo · 10/08/2013 15:21

Oh and I got up 8 times last night to wee. 8 times, ffs.

jazzcat28 · 10/08/2013 15:34

Thanks prudence and somany

This baby will be the first grandchild on both sides of our family in about 20 years so I am presuming it's going to be spoilt rotten! Mum thought I was nuts to buy a few clothes in newborn/1 month sizes but I figured most gifts will be 0-3mths and poor little mite will need something to wear in the first 4 weeks of its life! This is of course assuming I don't have a 10lb-er like my DH was

milk that's hardcore ebaying! Well done you! I'm starting to fall into the PFB trap of wanting everything brand new, although the cot will be my old cot reconditioned.

No progress on my dissertation. I'm feeling rather shattered and can just about cope with 40hr working week plus 15hrs commuting time. Thinking more and more that I might have to just accept the pg diploma and dream try to find some time in the next 4 years to submit the dissertation to convert to MSc.

Morien · 10/08/2013 15:56

milkandtwo 8 times Shock That's more weeing than sleeping - you must be shattered!

Just had a message from the doctor at the Fetal Medical Centre here to say that he'd had my Harmony test results last night and that they're fine. I imagine I'll find out more on Monday but I'm happy with that for now Grin At last feel I can join you all in thinking about prams and baby clothes Wink

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 15:59

Haha Shropshire I am definitely going straight from here to August thread. I want us to be having our babies! (Once they are fully grown etc etc..)
I sometimes have a look at January to know what the next bit is going to feel like.

Had a lovely day today with the ILs. They are going to spoil this baby crazy and good for them! My family are in the US so I don't see them very often.

Having lived in America, I think baby showers are great but I'd be scared of having one because I'm a complete nervous Norma and would worry it was a jinx. But that's very foolish and anyone who is having one should just relish in all the lovely pressies!

PS Could someone get me some fudge too please? Am not puking again today so it's all about FOOD FOOD FOOD.

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 16:00

jazzcat mine's going nowhere either. I can physically get it done but definitely not to the standard I want. I might see if I can change to the PT course and then it wouldn't be due til next summer...

misskatamari · 10/08/2013 16:12

Marzipanned I cannot stop eating today either! Although I now have heartburn which is attempting to disrupt the constant flow of food into my mouth. I am gonna end up the size of a house!

This is the link about the apple2 www.icandyworld.com/uk/en/latest_news/a_birthday_offer_from_icandys_ceos_the_icandy_apple_2_anniversary_pack/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=icuk0022a&utm_content=icuk0022a+CID_23b38c8d61354d481a71e82c294a16e8&utm_source=Clixell email Marketing&utm_term=click here - not sure if its a good deal or not but I am intrigued as it seems like it converts to a double and has good reviews.

Sassy20 · 10/08/2013 16:15

Anyone who has an older dc - what age do they go in a pushchair/pram till? My dd will be 2yrs 10mnths when dc2 comes along and not sure if I need to get another buggy as got Quinny Buzz at moment?

Somanychanges · 10/08/2013 16:17

Laura which Doppler did you buy? I bought the Angel sounds one. Haven't got it yet though? How many weeks are you now?

I have heard baby twice at the doctors once at 10 weeks really clear the second time 11 weeks very faint. Will be fun to see if I can find it myself. I heard a full bladder helps and lots of oil or gel.

LovesToBake · 10/08/2013 16:20

Jazzcat with DS I just bought newborn size vests and babygros, a cardigan and snowsuit and a hat - enough to see us through the first week or two (and however much I thought it was a myth, you do seem to end up with the washing machine on every day so you don't need masses of them). We then got given quite a lot of clothes as gifts (luckily a fair amount were the next sizes up. I also think it's worth waiting before splashing out on other outfits as we just found vests and babygros the most convenient and comfortable for the early months - trying to wrestle him into any proper 'outfits' was always a massive faff and then he would just puke on the moments later so it wasn't really worth it!

I've just popped into town and picked up two amazing maternity bargains in Jojo Maman Bebe - my first new maternity clothes for this pregnancy. A fab short sleeved white cotton top for £5 and a great floral cotton summery dress for £10, amazing!

vix206 · 10/08/2013 16:26

Sassy - DS is 3 this month and I only use a pushchair when I'm going shopping in the town centre (which is very rare). I just use it to keep him contained!

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 16:50

Somany I bought the angelsounds one too. I'm 14+6 but I have no idea where I'm meant to be putting it to hear its heartbeat!! I was reading on another thread about being able to feel your uterus, I asked how and someone explained, I tried couldn't feel it so gave up! Daren't ask again they would think I was stupid lol! So as far as I'm aware I don't have a uterus GrinGrin

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 17:04

Ignore that somany! I've just found it!!! GrinGrinGrin

It was lower down than I was looking before, like right on my knicker line but I definitely heard it, sounded like its little heart was going to explode it was going that fast! Happy now, well worth the money!

vix206 · 10/08/2013 17:10

I have the angel sounds doppler. I always found baby in the same place, left hand side really low down. I use lots of baby oil which helps hear it better. Now I'm feeling lots of movement it's back in the drawer but it was lovely to get the reassurance in the early days Grin

Timpani · 10/08/2013 17:57

milk you might have respite soon but I'll warn you that near the end I like that every night!! It was awful. I actually got more sleep with a newborn!!

I did the same today champagne. I hurtled out the car to the nearest McDonald's to puke in their loo and then promptly ate a McDonald's meal! Weirdo!

marzipanned · 10/08/2013 18:10

Ooh laura you have got me wanting a doppler now!

pettyprudence · 10/08/2013 18:12

sassy my ds will be 2.11 when dc2 arrives. We only use the pushchair for longer trips these days so I am planning on getting a buggy board and a wrap/sling so I can alternate the two if needs be. I don't think I will be having long trips to town with 2 like i did this morning!

laura0007 · 10/08/2013 19:27

Marzi get one!! It's worth it!

Milkandtwo · 10/08/2013 19:29

I can vouch for the sonoline doppler (about 30 from amazon) has worked every time (in line with hips and off to one side - finding it is a bit like safe breaking!) but I think they're all much of a muchness in that range. Use lots of gel!
Epic day of driving on little sleep thanks to the wee breaks, but back with the pram. I bloody love it. Keep folding and unfolding and pushing it round the lounge empty like some sort of weirdo.

Milkandtwo · 10/08/2013 19:31

DH threatened to put the cat in it so I'd have something to push but that's a step too far towards Roysten Vasey-ness for me. And not a good habit for the cat to adopt.
