The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

Good Luck sultana! Cant wait for the update eeeeek!

Mac2014 · 09/08/2013 08:24

Thanks ladies.

sultana I'm just glad I didn't start with a bikini wax! Fingers crossed for today!!

BookTart · 09/08/2013 08:24

Good luck sultana!

Spacefrog35 · 09/08/2013 08:32

Sorry to hear about FIL mac

Hope scan goes well sultana

Would appear my hormones have decided the second trimester will be "wet" another massive hissy fit at poor DH this morning and now an hour late for work as I couldn't stop crying for long enough to get on the train! Thank God the DH is understanding and my boss is pregnant too so 'gets' it otherwise I think I'd be adding getting sacked/divorced to the list of things to do Blush

MrsAVB · 09/08/2013 08:33

Good luck sultana! X

AnotherStitchInTime · 09/08/2013 08:44

Sorry to hear about your FIL mac

Book if you can't get a maternity pillow straight away or if it doesn't work a memory foam mattress topper or an extra blanket underneath you plus a pillow between the knees can help. Also have a look at Pilates for pregnancy and advice for SPD to help you with daily movement, like getting out of bed.

Good luck for today Sultana

MrsGSR · 09/08/2013 09:55

Good luck sultana!

Flowers to you and your DH, mac

I had some hip pain last night, it wasn't too bad, just felt like I'd run/swam to far the day before. Seeing as yesterday was spent napping, going out to lunch with my dad and then dinner with my in laws, it's probably not from to much exercise! Hadn't thought to connect it to pregnancy. Yours sounds much worse though, book, I hope you can get a pillow soon!

BookTart · 09/08/2013 10:26

Pillow ordered! Thanks for the link anotherstitch. I did a little snort at the bits where it talked about sex positions, because THAT just ain't gonna happen if this carries on Grin
Poor you spacefrog. I hope you feel a bit brighter soon.

Mac2014 · 09/08/2013 10:38

Thanks for all the lovely comments.

frog big hugs - hope your day gets better.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 09/08/2013 11:52

Mac welcome back and sorry to hear about FIL. You poor love.

MrsRA hello again! If it helps (plunging right in with the TMI), I have a definite 'smell' down there. Not awful, not unpleasant, just definite. SEXAH.

sultana everything crossed for today, hope you have a wonderful scan.

frog me too - cried at/on DH for an hour last night. At least we resolved that his drinking is 'making the most of it while he can', which is fair enough, and he plans to give up entirely and quit smoking by the time the baby arrives. To get to this info, though, we had to go through a LOT of tissues. Fun, ain't it? Grin

book I tried the Dream Genii, didn't get on with it (not enough between the legs for me ), am going to try a U-shaped pillow next I think.

How's everyone today? WEEKEND tomorrow! Yay!

Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 14:11

Hi ladies,

humpty so pleased u got an answer (and a good one too) from your DH. Shame u had to end up getting mega stressed and upset to get there though....

Thanks for all your good lucks. Well the good news is most things look as they should thankfully and it looks as though we will be team blue, so my gut feeling was right. However, his little abdomen was measuring too big so I have the dreaded GDD test booked for the 13th September and in the meantime no more ben and jerrys for me! Cue meltdown on the sonographer followed by second meltdown on the diabetes midwife, especially when she said there is a tiny increased risk of stillborn and if I end up on insulin they may deliver at 38 weeks. She couldnt have been nicer and gave me a big hug and made me feel as though I was the only person that mattered at that moment! Bless DH too - he tried to comfort me but I couldnt control myself! She reassured me its nothing I have done, which helped as straight away I thought about the chocolate I have been munching recently!

However, hopefully all will be well and at least they are keeping a close eye on things and I may get another scan at 34 weeks....

Gonna concentrate on all the positives, although this 6 week wait until the diabetes test is gonna be longgggg!

Anyone any experience of baby abdos measuring large or gestational diabetes?

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 09/08/2013 14:14

Oh, sultana, how worrying for you Flowers
But the good news is that it's very common and they know exactly what to do to make sure everything runs smoothly. And everything else is fine!

Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 14:19

Yes absolutely Toby. As DH said, if there was gonna be something not right then he would rather it was this as hopefully its something that can be controlled. Part of me hopes it is so we have a reason for the larger abdomen. Now am scared about a big baby and pushing him out! Must block that from my mind for now!!! Grin

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 14:27

Also found out my placenta is anterior high, so I assuming the things I have been feeling are still baby movements....

OP posts:
Penny31 · 09/08/2013 14:42

Hi sultana congrats on the boy!! I too have an anterior high placenta.

Do you mind sharing the abdominal circumference measurement? When looked at my notes all babies measurements were shown in a little graph type format and were average or below average. The abdominal circumference however was at the opposite end of the scale but nothing was said! I was a bit concerned about it.

I read that sometimes the babies might have swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid at the time of the scan which makes their little tummies seem bigger...

Penny31 · 09/08/2013 14:43

Ps abdominal circumference for me was 161mm but I can't remember head circumference, I assume it is all relative

TobyLerone · 09/08/2013 14:44

Your DH is absolutely right.

Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 14:45

Hey penny - mine was off the scale at 175.... X

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 14:46

My mate just said had similar results to me and was sent for the same tests and it turned out she was just having a big baby. Makes me feel better about things. Think it was just a shock! Shock

OP posts:
Penny31 · 09/08/2013 14:53

But what about in relation to the other measurements, where were they on the scale?

Maybe their tummies just grow quicker and they grow into them!

I've been doing a bit of reading about it and it doesn't seem to mean anything bad will happen even if its GD.

Now celebrate that apart from having him having a cutesy chubby tum you have a healthy baby BOY! Eeeeeeeek!

Sultanajo · 09/08/2013 15:13

Yeah the rest was normal penny. Yeah am starting to get excited again now the fear and worry are wearing off.... Grin

enormouse · 09/08/2013 15:24

So sorry about your FIL mac

sultana congrats on your (probable) blue bundle. It sounds like your mw/obstetric team are very on top of things.

humpty great to hear you made headway with your DP.

Went to see the gp about my thalassemia results and the hospital haven't released them to the surgery. I need iron tablets quite badly (almost needed a transfusion last pg, fortunately iron levels rose in time) but can't till it's known for definite I'm clear for the thalassemia trait. The locum gp seemed very annoyed by the hospital dragging their heels and refusing to give me my antenatal notes (16+2 atm)
Am quite pissed off at nothing being resolved. Luckily having tea and ikea gingerbread biscuits is helping.

DP and I have reached agreement on the names at last but I've had to give up Felix.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 09/08/2013 16:09

sultana congrats on probably being team blue!
Totally unscientific, BUT: I'd be amazed to have a tiny baby, as I'm tall and overweight, my whole family is tall/big/well built, and both me and my sister were 'big' babies (over 8lbs). Also, again MASSIVELY unscientific - I have a particular 'shelf' of flab under my boobs, which my mum also has and her mum also had, it just 'looks' genetic to me - if I had a big abdo measurement, I'd probably think it was to do with that.

I'm rambling, but I do hope you are back to feeling positive and excited.

sarahleanne · 09/08/2013 16:31

Congrats on the scans everyone. I have mine in 2 weeks.
Anniversary meal tonight, but dh is seriously in the doghouse for going out for a couple last Friday and not getting home until Sunday afternoon , I had to pull in my mate to look after my kids on Sunday while I went to work!! Needless to say I kicked his ass out the door and he's been staying at his mums all week. I even cancelled our anniversary meal at a very posh restaurant and he sent me the biggest bunch of flowers today with a more saying 'I've re booked for 7:30 , I hope you'll come' .
I'm still sooo angry at him , he's not allowed back in this house until he learns when to stop drinking! He's promised me he won't drink spirits anymore. So pissed off at him ,
Am going to put on my dress and high heels, curl my hair and so the whole ' look what u nearly lost' speech haha.
Aaaaannnddd breatheeeee.

Thanks for listening!! :)
