Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MummyPig24 · 01/08/2013 11:26

Well, Grandma has not appeared and she isn't at home either. I've got to wait in this afternoon for a parcel from my brother. It's very hot today so I will probably fill up the paddling pool later.

I let the dcs paint outside and dd totally smurfed herself!

I'm completely shattered and having done as much housework as I can I am flaked on the sofa for a bit!

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 01/08/2013 11:28

My midwife is mad as a box of frogs and swears like a trooper....I like her! Grin

Sadly I have no choice in location of my birth, consultant clinic only for me Sad although she said if I want to give birth in my home town (half hour drive south) then I can, just bowl up the hospital in labour, they can't turn me away Grin she also told me to tell the staff to "piss off" if they get too pushy or militant about breast feeding with me.

Rock on!

Next appointment is my scan in 3 weeks then consultant 4 weeks after that!

MummyPig24 · 01/08/2013 11:50

soured that sounds like a very good appointment!

Souredstoneshasasouredpebble · 01/08/2013 11:52

It was she was brilliant!

"I don't care how you feed your baby so long as its fed. If you want to breast feed I will support you 100% but if you don't I will also support you 100%"

I'm so much more confident with my care

IceNoSlice · 01/08/2013 11:53

Scan date through - 15th August Smile

MummyPig24 · 01/08/2013 12:13

That's so nice of her. If only more hcps were supportive of mothers choices, whatever they may be.

ice good news on scan date.

I have to call the mw in a week if I haven't heard anything.

Teddybear4 · 01/08/2013 12:39

I agree with Coolhand. I had one terrible newborn who was never happy and never slept and one lovely newborn who "broke" at 10 weeks old and became a non-napping demon. I'll be looking forward to six months after birth...!

Rang up to chase scan this morning and....midwife has booked me into the wrong hospital. Such an anti-climax!! Have to start all over again with the hospital referral process now (originally started 2 weeks ago!). Grrrr.

faithfulandtruthful · 01/08/2013 13:20

Hello all,

Hope everyone is O.K. I am having a bit of a wobble, after having a panic when I first found out about being pregnant, I promised myself that I would be laid back as much as possible because what will be will be...

Up until a couple of days a go and I discovered the term "Missed Miscarriage".

I haven't really had much in the way of pregnancy symptoms but at 6 and a half weeks I started to feel a bit sick/starving hungry, I haven't been sick and although I am eating smaller portions and prefer certain foods over others, I wouldn't say I have had anything other than mild symptoms.

I believe I have found ways to manage my symptoms using peppermint tea, sucking on mints, making sure I have protein with every meal of the day and snacking on a handful of nuts rather than a handful of carrot sticks. < That's my logical brain speaking

Illogical brain says> What if you've had a MMC? Your symptoms seem to be even more mild than last week. If you have had an MMC you're not going to know for another 4 weeks.

Conclusion - Pregnancy = Madness

Help meeeeee!!! Confused

F&T

ps. Big hugs and best wishes to everyone, although I'm rubbish at posting to you individually you are all keeping me sane and informed, who knew I wasn't breaking the laws of pregnancy eating by continuing to eat runny eggs and Peanuts!!

Wuxiapian · 01/08/2013 13:40

Hi, all! And Pramela, thanks for asking after me.

Had my booking in appointment this morning - midwife was Smile and Shock that I was back so soon.

Anyway, should receive scan appointment with the next 7-10 days. I'm now 9.5, but he assured me I'll get scan at 12 weeks.

I've been feeling terrible - nauseous and as though my whole body is under attack - evenings are particularly bad.

Starting out as high risk due to large PPH with DS1 (15 years ago) and being diagnosed as having a microprolactinoma in 2010. Will be pushing for low risk birth, though.

Damn, this heat is trying to finish me off :(

x0gawjus0x · 01/08/2013 15:25

I still dont believe it either lol im 9+5 and so certain somethings gona go wrong ive waited for 3 years for this bfp!! Ahhhh just waiting for a scan date :( thought i got away with nausea but started getting it at 8 weeks and now is quite bad, so nervous for scan ahhhh xxx

babybear9 · 01/08/2013 15:51

Faithful - the same term is driving me crazy too! I had a little nausea until 7.5wks at which point it all kicked in! I know it's hard but i wouldn't worry too much at 6wks about the lack of symptoms.

faithfulandtruthful · 01/08/2013 15:56

gawjus hopefully you wont have to wait too much longer for a date as you are so close to 12 weeks now. Congratulations on you BFP. I'm sure you'll know soon. I haven't been for my booking in appointment yet, its a week today I'll be 9+1 by then, then I will be in your position, waiting for the paper to drop through the door.

Does anyone know if you get any say in when your scan is, it is not going to be easy for me to do a day I work (I have two days a week I don't work which would be better for me), I can't really take time off for an appointment and I'm not in a position to be telling my boss I'm preggers without the reassurance of a 12 week scan.

F&T

faithfulandtruthful · 01/08/2013 15:57

babybear I'm 8+1 and I did have symptoms at 6+3 but they have started to ease, otherwise I don't think I would be bothered!!

faithfulandtruthful · 01/08/2013 15:59

Its difficult don't want to complain about my lack of symptoms too much when so many of the lovely ladies on here are suffering big time.

Rockchick1984 · 01/08/2013 16:20

Faith I had a MMC earlier this year (discovered at 12 week scan) and still had all my symptoms - my body didn't realise the baby had died so carried on producing all the hormones. That's why I didn't miscarry naturally, so don't feel like symptoms fading is a sign of MMC! My symptoms were more pronounced in that pregnancy than when I had DS, had no morning sickness, cramps, boob tenderness, anything really with him!

Re particular days for scan, I think it'll depend on your hospital - I think you just have to let them book it and ring them if you can't make it to see what they say. I know some smaller hospitals only do routine scans on certain days but if they do them Mon-Fri then I doubt if it'll be a problem.

5amisnotmorning · 01/08/2013 16:36

Who said newborns were easy?

DD had reflux caused by multiple food intolerances and barely slept for 1.5 years. Now she's 2, she's much easier even though every request is filtered through whether she wanted to hear it and then an in depth negotiation on whether / when she will actually do it..

Oh god, there'll be 2 of them in 7 months..

faithfulandtruthful · 01/08/2013 16:37

Rock Thank you for the reply, I think that me becoming gradually less able to keep a grip on my logical side is what is driving me more insane! It is reassuring to hear that your successful pregnancy had less symptomy symptoms!! Out of interest and only if your willing to share, because I have to prepare myself for all scenarios (and not in a going insane way) did they give you a choice about how you eventually MC'd because if I have MMC'd I would like to wait ideally until nature takes its course.

I am booking in at the local Midwife run unit but I think I will have to go down to the big hospital unit to get my scan. I think your probably right that I may have to ring and attempt to change it. I do have two days to work with so hopefully I should be able to work it out. It will only be for one scan and then I'll be able to fess up to my boss. I have a suspicion she is going to be fessing up herself soon (I have my fingers crossed for her).

x0gawjus0x · 01/08/2013 17:07

Oh I know its terrible mc never crossed my mine in 3 yrs of ttc but soon as i had bfp it was the first thing i thought of :(

faithful ik what you mean if the scan is really soon to recieving the letter think the only thing i can do is phone in sick. Am nof tellig anyone till 12 wks just family. Xx

Rockchick1984 · 01/08/2013 17:12

I was given the choice of waiting to let things happen naturally, surgical or medical management. I went for surgical (a D&C) as the baby had died 4 weeks previously and my body still hadn't noticed, so I didn't want to be waiting indefinitely. Also just wanted it over with, I don't think I could have coped with bleeding, cramping etc as once it starts it can still take a few days/weeks to complete. Do u think that one of your symptoms could be the worrying? Hormones can do things to your emotions, I'd take the stressing as a good sign personally!! Honestly though, try not to think about it easier said than done because if its going to happen then worrying won't make a difference. I'm on a pregnancy after miscarriage thread and the motto is "today I am pregnant" and its actually a really good way of thinking. Unless you have reason to know otherwise, then today you are pregnant and that's all that matters Flowers

IceNoSlice · 01/08/2013 17:18

FandT I was able to change date of scan very easily, and my hospital runs scans 4 days a week. Just give them a call.

SoSurprised · 01/08/2013 17:22

Hi faithful, I didn't have many symptoms either. I thought it was slight indigestion which wasn't settling. Also had quite a bit of bleeding at what would have been 4 weeks (I thought it was a period). Fingers crossed for you.

It's just sinking in for me. I started my job last month. Dnt know how to tell my manager. I will definitely not tell until the 12 week scan. I feel quite guilty today.

Beccadugs · 01/08/2013 17:23

I was also able to change my scan as I will be abroad when the first appointment was. I just rang up and they offered a couple of other dates!

PramelaAndherson · 01/08/2013 17:27

Absurdly excited post alert due to this being first baby:

I saw my consultant today for the first time and she was lovely. She will do an extra scan at 24 wks to check baby's heart rate re antidepressant risks (there is a tiny chance of heart defect when mum is on antidepressants in final trimester, although research is poor as they refuse to use preggos as guinea pigs). I aim to be off 'em by then anyway.

But, guess what? When I told her I was having a wobble despite only being scanned last Friday she scanned me again! (that's three scans in 9.2wks Blush)I cried my eyes out when she told me to lie very, very still as she was sure 'the bean' would jump for me - and it did! I saw a properly defined head and two thrashing stumps for arms and it wiggled its bum/tail! Unbelievable and very, very beautiful Smile

JK10 · 01/08/2013 17:29

Got my scan date through! 4th sep, I'll be 13+3 weekss it's the day after I get back from hols so perfect timing! GP said I shouldn't be flying until I was in the 2nd trimester! But seriously!!? I'll be 11+4 when I go so really what difference is 4 days gonna make!! Also the amount of pol who conceive whilst on holiday or who fly before they even find out!! Silly lady!!

Back to the whole peanut butter conversation! Has anyone had a peanut butter banana milkshake in ed's diner? They are the best ever!! Ridiculously high amount of calories but worth every single one!!

What a scorcher! Totally burnt my back today, been to a friends who had no shade whatsoever was in it for 6 hrs flat! So desperately needed to sit in doors started feeling lightheaded, but didn't wanna seem rude to say I'm just gonna leave u with my kids whilst I go indoors to cool off!! The kids were all in the pool was desperate to jump in!!

It's so sad to hear of so many ladies who have experienced mc's in the past, I really am hoping that we all manage to do this journey together till the end with happy outcomes for everyone.

PramelaAndherson · 01/08/2013 17:29

...I have another scan next Friday at 10+3 Blush
