Sitting here with a hiccupy bump, lots of braxtons today. Bored of being pregnant now!

lilianna · 24/06/2006 21:59

so glad to hear i'm not the only one bored of being pregnant. I think my toodlers want there mum back, as at the moment i don't have the energy to run around after them (aged 3yrs, 2yrs and 11months).
still potty training the oldest two at the moment.
My nesting started yesterday and the house is just about sorted. Just got to get dp to put the teddies on top of babys wardrobe, as i can't reach.
Seems like everyone is getting excited? Do you all feel like you have managed to bond with your unborn child?
I haven't but have spoken to the midwife who has said i may not bond till the baby is born as i have so much going on with the other three children especially with ds1 as he is disabled and is having everything put in place for him this year.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to hearing if anyone is going to have there baby over the weekend.
Take care
lilianna

kbaby · 24/06/2006 22:24

kayzed- I had exactly the same experience when I was in last week. They kept saying how dehydrated I was but took 4 hrs to actually give me any fluids and 7 attemps at getting a canula in! also had women in labour in the corridor!

My plan is to go in as late as possible have the baby and then leave as soon as I can. Theres certaintly no after care involved from what I could see anyway so I may as well be at home.

The reason they kept you in may have been if your temp was high. Apparently if you have a high temp it can effect the baby and increase the heart rate etc.

Iamblossum- Your day sounds very stressful, Your poor friend what a horrible thing to happen to her.

HumphreysCorner · 25/06/2006 03:25

Aarrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh-girls, I'm having a few pains every 10 mins so have got up to make a tea and take some paracetamol. Can't be sure this is it so watch this space. DH devastated as he is shattered and I've woke him up-Oh dear, well I'm tired too! Got so many things to do as not quite finished packing DH's bags-most important.

Will keep you posted.

39+1!!!

oh. hc, how scary......good luck!!!

lilianna · 25/06/2006 08:41

Hc- i really hope this is it for you and not a false alarm. Take care
lilianna

agalch · 25/06/2006 08:43

Good luck hc

Hope your little baby is well on the way. Can't wait to hear your good news xx

HumphreysCorner · 25/06/2006 09:20

Still here girls and still hurting every 10 mins so looks like a false alarm. Do I risk going to my nephews B'Day party as they live an hour away??? Don't know if I can live like this for another week. Ho hum!

xxx

usandbump · 25/06/2006 09:36

Ooh HC! May not be false alarm if still every 10 mins maybe just a slow start? I wouldn't risk party if I were you, I don't think you would enjoy yourself anyway. Thinking of you and have my fingers crossed

lilianna · 25/06/2006 10:00

hc-have you had a warm bath to ease with the pain? if so and it is still continuing then it sounds like the real thing if the pain stops after a bath its usually a false alarm.
Keep walking about and squatting. I found if the pain is to much then rocking backwards and forwards on all fours helps. Do not lay on your back it causes more pain and a slower labour.
If you have a gym ball bouncing on one of those is great.

AggiePanther · 25/06/2006 11:09

Ooh sounds exciting HC...hope it's not a false alarm.
Kayzed -sorry to hear about your rotten hospital experience - I think your plan of 'late in' and 'early out' is a wise one.
Really really bored of being pregnant here too - DP had to be away today but once he's back it's going to be lots of curries, pineapple, sex, raspberry leaf tea etc and anything else I can think of to get this baby to arrive!
MW is coming on tuesday so I'm going to beg her to get me an earlier hosp appointment to discuss induction- some of you may remember I've had heart problems in the past and so I'm sure lugging round this swollen body can't be good for me - that's my excuse anyway, i'm probably absolutely fine but it's worth a try!

Annie29 · 25/06/2006 12:32

Oh Good Luck HC!! Hope it's not a false alarm!
Lilianna you sound very wise, not surprising with 4 under 5!! Good luck to you too it sounds like something was starting for you too.

KZ, sympathies with your hosp experience. Good idea to go in late, and home asap. Might try that too if all goes well.

Lilianna, I don't feel very bonded with my LO either, I even feel a bit distant from DS too, as it's hard to pick him up for cuddles at the mo. And he loves his daddy so much, DH is a SAHD. Only a few more weeks and I'll be able to squeeze him hard!!! It is so different when it's not your first baby.

Not so much bored of being pregnant, more Really Tired and FAT... and a little fed up. Oh well! Could be worse!

Congrats again, Jane, hope you are recovering ok, and Little Evie is doing well.

Bamboozle? Any news? I'm sure you did wonderfully!! We're still thinking of you.

does anyone use a birthing ball? Is it worth getting one at this late stage??

Ta for any advice

HumphreysCorner · 25/06/2006 13:53

Have decided to risk going to the party-all the bags are in the car just incase. Contractions have stopped now so must have been a false alarm.

Hugs to everyone.

Have a lovely afternoon HC, at least something seems to be happening maybe bump was practicing?!
Nothing happening here!
Hope you are ok KZ? Try not to worry, there is nothing you can do about it just go with the flow.

Having BBQ with a few friends now and going to watch the footy.

Annie - have just ordered a birth ball today (35+2) as am planning a home birth. Also, really want something comfy to sit on! Finding it much more difficult to get into a position that's supportive and doesn't cause bub to go into a kicking frenzy. My mw recommended birth ball and they are fairly inexpensive, so prob worth getting one. Also, you can use them after the birth, good for pelvic floor excercises, and you can roll a colicky baby on one (apparently). DH was trying to persuade me to get a giant spacehopper instead so he could have a go

bamboozleslover · 25/06/2006 16:05

hi everyone. toby jack was born safely at 5:10am yesterday morning (24th june) at 38 weeks. he weighed 7lb 4.5oz - and he's very long!one babygrow already doesn't fit him! was induced at 5:30pm on friday afternoon, started getting back ache at about 10 o clock, went on the monitor at 10:30 and was checked - 1cm dilated. At about 2:30 was 2cm then at about 4:15 felt the urge to push. mw was adamant i couldn't possibly be ready and thought i needed a poo so there i was thinking i was trying to push out a very awkward and large poo, when suddenly a head appears - was in fact my lovely ds! he was born face up in about 6 pushes and my godmother (birthing partner) got to see his little eyes open for the first time. was in so much disbelief he wasn't a poo i had to feel for his head. after the birth i was so overwhelmed and shocked i was speechless for one of the 1st times in my life. still on a complete high and feel like a 5 year old who stops to tell anyone who will listen about his new bike! my midwife helen was great. there was an oldish trainee midwife who had a go at me for switching from breast to bottle-if they had helped me for more than 2 minutes in showing me how to do it properly i might not have. going to try again at home where im more relaxed cos i will be really disapointed if he doesn't take to it. bit worried cos he doesn't seem to be eating very much though but i suppose it'll take a few days for him to settle into a pattern. xx ps everyone gas & air is addictive!! i just breathed through my contractions and used the birthing ball and the bath to help until about 2:30, but then i decided to have gas & air. used that much i went all sick and had to stop!! they gave me pethidine at about 4:15, but it hadn't really kicked in when i started to push as it all happened so quickly. tried to use gas & air when pushing but couldn't focus on breathing that in and pushing so i just did it without it in the end. i can't believe he's here!! a bit emotional cos i haven't slept really in 2 days and my mother keeps having a go at me for apparently not knowing how to do things. what does she expect i;ve never done this before and i am absolutely shattered and starving - haven't even eaten yet today can you believe! good luck to you all whose bumps are still waiting patiently to offload. xx

spub · 25/06/2006 17:04

Bamboo! Wow! Huge congratulations on Toby Jack's safe arrival (lovely name).
You did brilliantly, girl.
I have only ever given birth once so am by no means an expert and I do remember the absolute buzz and rush for the first few days; it is hard to get yourself to rest up but do try!!
HC - hope the paty was ok and you have no more pain.
To everyone else - sorry for those who've been having weird pains - including their relatives!!
Try to all enjoy your last few days before the bubbas arrive. That's been my plan and we're having a lovely weekend whilst it's just the 3 of us. The boy will be here on Friday (all being well) so by next weekend, we'll be a family of 4 and I'll be stuck on a ward!!!
Big hugs all around.

CONGRATULATIONS BAMBOOZLE!
Great to hear such a postive birth story

DH and I decided to spend the whole weekend doing lovely things together as it may be our last "just the 2 of us" weekend. Went out for dinner last night, went for a picnic today - lovely!

We both feel so ready for LO now, can't wait to meet him or her.

So exciting we are starting to have arrivals now, keep them coming ladies!

maewest · 25/06/2006 19:48

Congrats bamboozle - you did great! Enjoy your first few days with Toby xx

Twirl · 25/06/2006 20:00

Congratulations to you Bamboozle on the safe arrival of baby Toby Jack. What a girl - sitting exams one day, popping a baby out the next! I'm delighted for you! xxx

puddytat99 · 25/06/2006 20:41

Congrats Bamboozle, what a star you are!!!! As KZ said, just follow little Toby and you'll be great.

HC - hope the party went well. How you feeling now?

My friend is 41+1 today and had a sweep yesterday but still nothing's happening. She's going in on Thursday to be induced. Hope things get going before then for her.

DS had a great birthday on Friday and got to be on court for the Nottingham Open Final.

Hope you've all had a good weekend, not long now for us all. Only 11 days to edd for me Feeling totally shattered, really bad backache and my IBS has been really bad today. Been on my ball bouncing away which has helped. DH has promised me a back rub later.

Wonder who'll be next?????

Annie29 · 25/06/2006 20:44

Congratulations Bamboozle!!!! Wow, you did brilliant! KZ is right as ever, just follow your baby, you sound like you know exactly what you're doing!!! When you get home and relax, you'll find feeding easier too, well I did... hey you must be home already if you've posted on there though!! WELL DONE, and Welcome to the world, Toby

Thanks for the advice about the birthing ball, Maewest, I've just gone and got one on ebay. Thought it was a bargain for 3.55, then realised it was 7.95 postage!! D'oh!! Oh well, I got it now! LOL at your DH

HC, hope you enjoyed your party, it may well have started things off?!!?!?

Good luck anyone else who may be feeling that the time is nigh...

18 days to go...
