Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OldieMum · 22/06/2006 19:07

Hi, all. Guess what? I'm back at home. I went into hospital on Tuesday, with a a c-section booked for 27th June. This morning, the senior consultant came around and suggested that they let the baby cook for a bit longer, with a section on 4th July. I am much happier about this. I had thought that 38 weeks was rather early for the section. Now it will be at 39 weeks. Not fancying yet another week in hospital, I asked whether I could come home - and here I am. It's wonderful. The hospital was fine and I enjoyed having a good rest, but I do feel liberated. Back in next Wednesday, however.

Chat2Ali · 22/06/2006 19:25

Happy Birthday Wallace!

KZ - thanks for your idea. I ended up eating humous with cucumber and red pepper sticks, which has been a staple for me. You must be right about the protein in the chick peas. Also, the sweet tomatoes sound good. My favourite vege at the moment is red pepper becos it is so sweet.

Clara - LOL at the old geezer's scientific way of telling what you are having. Are you in London? I wonder if it was the same old man who asked me what I am having and quizzed me about due dates last week in Peter Jones? Fortunately I already knew LO's sex, so the scientific method was not needed. My enquirer was a funny old man, but seemed harmless enough. Its strange, he is the only one who has asked anything!

Today I got really cross with an old lady in front of me at a check-out who was holding her stick over her arm and nearly poked my bump with it a few times as she bent over to unload her shoppping. Even worse the bloke behind me wouldn't move back so I could stand clear of her.

Is it just me or do others feel a bit vulnerable in a crowd nowadays?

Chat2Ali · 22/06/2006 19:28

You are very patient Oldie Mum! I am sure it will be an advantage to leave you LO in its safe little cocoon for another week, but if it were me I would have felt frustrated by a false start. As it is, the anticipation is killing me!

IamBlossom · 22/06/2006 19:33

Welcome back Oldie Mum!

Happy Birthday Wallace!

Mean old cow your MIL PinkDolly, ignore her. I have to say I have rather a dream MIL, she phoned this morning as we are all going to hers' on Sunday for lunch, and informed me I should bring my book as after lunch I will be banished to lie on her bed for the afternoon as her and my SIL had been discussing it and they were going to look after DS while DH and his brothers watch the football and I will be under instructions to rest! Oh ok then! She is also on standby to come up and look after DS when I go into labour and if she is anything like when I had DS she will be up every weekend doing my ironing and making dinner.

Getting pretty tired these days, especially as DS has decided to wake up at 4.30am most mornings this week and insist on coming into our bed. It is such a bad habit to get into and he has rarely done it before, but I am hoping it is a blip and will pass. Perhaps it's his back teeth coming through? To be honest, if he does come into our bed we all then sleep till 7, an hour later than he does in his bed on his own so we all get an extra hours kip. Lazy parenting I know, but sod it.

Went to Guildford with my mum this afternoon, and ordered the double buggy we are getting finally. Bought DS yet another pair of sandals that are going to have to go back. So annoying. Had to get another tube of Anusol, as although I had bought some last weekend, I had promptly come home and put it in the bin along with my Starbucks cup. PREGHEAD! Didn't fancy rootling around among dinners remains later on, so had to endure the request at the counter again - "er, a tube of Anusol please". "It's the cream you want it is madam, not the suppositories?" "Yes please, the cream" .

Mum has DS tomorrow, hurrah, so am going to go for a swim and then veg on the sofa I think.

Took DS to a toddler group this morning and got chatting to this woman and told her your story PinkDolly of the pooey slide, she couldn't believe it either! I must say we did both look closely at the slide after that. She had just had her second and her DS was my DS's age, I asked her how she was finding things and her reply was "total carnage". Hmmm, reassuring, thanks.

Catch you later girls.

Hi Oldiemum, and hello to the lurkers who've posted recently, good to know you're still around .

Overdid it a bit today at work, trying to clear files out, bub was really wriggling and parts of tummy felt pretty sore. Then I dragged a load of heavy shopping home on the bus and got back on the verge of tears. Luckily DH arrived home at the same time as me and swiftly took the bags from me and hustled me onto the sofa. Had a little liedown and listened to my relaxation CD until I felt calmer. Day off tomorrow, then just one week left at work, can't wait!

kbaby · 22/06/2006 21:18

Everyone else feeling hot all the time? I felt like I was going to pass out in ASDA today because I was so warm and my hands and feet are boiling. Starting to feel tired now. With DD I had started my maternity leave by now and could sleep in the day but no chance of that happening this time.

Ive got most things ready now. My bags been packed for a while, all the white baby clothes are washed and in a drawer. The buggy's assembled and the bouncy chair. The only things left to do now are finish painting DD's new room and wait for her furniture to arrive so that I can move her stuff in and the baby's stuff in the nursery. Still need to get the car seat and steriliser etc out of the attic though.

IamBlossom- DD comes into our beds most mornings. She wakes at 6am and there is no way I can function that early so this seemed the best compromise. She also sleeps for longer so on the weekend we get a lie in until 8am!!

I went to an Elton John concert last night and the LO kicked throughout Obv wasnt too happy with the noise.

bumpybel · 22/06/2006 23:28

Evening girls...

A late posting tonight. DH is nights and I've let him go to work on the strict instruction that if i ring he has to answer the phone immediately incase anything is wrong! He wants it all to start while he's in work so he can have the rest of the shift off! Thoughtful!

Blossom I laughed at your 'anusol' account!!! I was cringing for you just reading it!

Pink.. Really shocked at your MIL. Is she natural gran? Either way, I'd be well annoyed.

Happy Birthday Wallace!

Nice to hear Aggie and Usandbump are still about and still checking in

HC how come you havent got an appointment next week? I'll panic if they dont give me one for 40 weeks. My next is on tues, when I'll be 39 weeks, but if nothing has happened by 40, I'll definitely want to know whats happening. At what point do they book you in to be induced if you havent gone? Do they give you any notice?

On the vomitty front... I find I can eat ice cold stuff.. ice creams/ milk shakes/ lollies/ cold melon no matter how rough I'm feeling. Hasnt done much for the old waistline, but what the heck!

night all xxx

nixnoo · 23/06/2006 04:56

I also find cold things help. They seem to settle my stomach.

DH keeps tellling me how huge I am, and I keep insisting I am not that big, so he took a photo of me from the side..... oh. I got such a shock, somehow looking at yourself side on in a mirror isn't as accurate as a photo!

Clara - so funny about old man's boob gazing technique! My 83 year old neighbour is a retired GP, and said that he knew what I was having... I was quite interested because having been a GP he might have ways of telling? Apparently I am having a girl "because the last 3 sets of neighbours all had girls first"! Ah, ok then, that's also very scientific!

Hope you are all managing to rest up well.

jersey · 23/06/2006 07:52

morning everyone, well done on doing your exams mummytotoby. I am so glad I have finished all my essays now. Trying to get all the jobs out the way now. Finished the curtains for the boys room yesterday.

Happy Birthday Wallace, and nice to see you back oldimum.

With you on the damp pads, etc.. Sneezed yesterday and had to dash to the loo as had a leak!!! Glad I was at home .

Trying to sort out the finances today as DH doesn't seem to have taken on board how much we have going out and how little coming in. Been watching the bank of mum & dad and although we are not as bad as them things are a little out of control at the moment.

Still lots of BH's and kicks but although uncomfortable doesn't seem to be developing into anything. Was hoping to deliver before my mum & dad get home from hols but they come back next week and no sign yet! As some of you may remember from prev. posts my mother is along the lines of your mil's. Luckly my inlaws are great and they are still having DS mornings so I can get some jobs done.

Speak to you all later, hoping for some babies soon.

pinkdolly · 23/06/2006 08:26

Morning everyone,

Welcome back Oldie-glad your home and well, have to admit tho am with Ali, I would be a bit annoyed at not being able to have my LO when expexted. But then you all know how impatient I am getting. Am just hanging on till 37 weeks and then I will feel very happy about LO coming.

I am soo tired, haven't done much over the last few days as my energy levels have just dissapered.

Plus-And I know this sounds weird. I feel very tender in my tummy. Every time LO kicks me it hurts. Feels like I am bruised(although I know i'm not), also feels like I am a bit winded.

A friend told me yesterday that my bump has dropped, so I spent ages looking in the mirror from all angles, checking it. I dont know if it has.

I cant believe some of you have been doing exams/essays this late on in pg! I am finding it very difficult to concentrate and remember even the simplist things.

Forgot to say about my MIL- she did actually phone on the day before dd's birthday to ask if we were doing a party for her. I invited MIL last year and she came with a small gift. But got v. annoyed when she didn't then buy anything for DD2 for her birthday (we didn't have a party for DD2, took her out for the day instead).
So why would I invite her to the party.

Come on girls, it must be time for someone else to pop out a sprog!!!

Anopheles · 23/06/2006 09:00

Morning girls,

Hope you're all feeling ok, welcome home Oldiemum.

I'm off work today, and have DS all day, as DH is gone for a round of golf. It's his first day off from DS in about five months, so it's fair enough really! Almost 9am and I'm still coping so far!! I've no idea how I'll manage when I have two of em... DS comes in our bed as well Bloss, he goes to sleep in his cot in the evening, but always stirs when we go to bed, and so we end up taking him in to bed with us. It started when he was about six months, as we were both so wrecked from not sleeping, it just happened one night. It's bad I know, but at least we get to sleep... When we move he'll get his own room, and then we're going to try and start getting him to sleep on his own in there. He's only little, yet he takes up most of the bed!!
Was awake most of the night with heartburn last night, eeeeuw.

Have a nice easy day everyone. Anything stirring????

Annie 37+1

spub · 23/06/2006 09:17

Hi all,
Nothing stirring here, Annie, thanks! Though I am now thinking, Holy crap, this time next week I'll be heading in to hospital for the section. All very real all of a sudden!
Also having dreadful heartburn and I so cannot be arsed with food. Agree totally re the cold foods being most palatable. I'm seeing some friends for lunch at an old Italian cafe that does the best milkshakes in the world. Think I'll just have 3 of those for lunch!!
Very conscious that this is our last weekend as a family of 3 so intend to make a bit of a fuss of dd (3.5). Her daddy is taking her swimming as per tomorrow morning and then we're going to see "Over the Hedge". Sunday lunch is booked at our favourite spot (where we got married) so indulging a bit this weekend!
Next week is a round of waxing, hair, chiropractor and my utterly fabulous pregnancy massage lady. I only wish I had the cash to maintain that level of personal pampering!! This is strictly time limited so I intend to enjoy!
How's everyone?
LOL at MIL stories. Mine is safely 350 miles away but is coming to stay for 3 days when the baby will be 2 weeks old and just as dh goes back to work. I can't help but view the event as total carnage........
Have a good one.

HumphreysCorner · 23/06/2006 09:28

Morning ladies

Good to see you back Oldie-better to be able to keep in touch .

bumpy-when I was having DD I went to see the MW every week at the end, this time you just have to get on with it-DIY literally! But last time it was in the final week that I had signs of pre-eclampsia-blinding headache, swollen ankles and protein in my wee so really going to be on the lookout for the signs. Have already got an appointment booked at the hospital (did it at 12 weeks) for 41 weeks so if nothing has happened I will see the MW at the local surgery on the 6th for a sweep then in on the 8th to be induced-well, at least I think so. Not planning on making the 6th July appointment. Are you listening baby ?-lol!

Feeling soooooooo uncomfortable all the time now and struggling to walk as sciatica playing up too-oh woe is me!

DH still trying to get out of staying with me in the maternity home by naming everyone who didn't stay-well he will be staying!

Think that is all-will be back later when mum and dad have collected DD for the day. Oh, need to poo again!!!!

Byee for now.

38+6

deblaca · 23/06/2006 11:03

hi all

anyone else have a 'strange' taste in their mouths ..... everything i eat and drink taste metalically (not iron like blood) - hard to describe but overwhelming both my carrot juice this morning and the cheese sandwich i've just had taste the same (metal with a slight tinge of plastic) its very bizarre and i was wondering is it a symptom of something about to happen or am i clutching at straws

desparate to meet this not so lo on one hand and desparate for him to stay put on thother (due to building site but not to get any bigger!!)

38 wks tomorrow

nixnoo · 23/06/2006 12:04

yes! I have a metallic taste in my mouth too!!
Don't know what it means tho?

dangirl · 23/06/2006 13:56

37+6 today. Strange to think that it can happen at any time now and then again it could be a WHOLE MONTH!!!! I certainly hope not!
Some awful MIL stories! Mine is absolutely lovely! Her and my FIL have just been to take DD out for the day so that I can relax They are soo helpful and incredibly sweet. No complaints from me!

How exciting

I am soooooooo bored today, even looking forward to docs appointment in a couple of hours for something to do!!

I really think I'm still going to be sat here waiting in 3 wks time. Was enjoying shopping but I can't even think of anything else to buy! Just wasting money. Everyone I know is at work. I'm sorry I know I should just be making the most of the peace and quiet but I was so sure I would be delivering early (something of a family tradition) that I can't help feel its not fair!!!

Hope you are all having a good day, will pop back later hopefully in a better mood!
