Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

Sounds the same as yours mortified we can't manage on just smp though and need the top up meaning I have to go back even if I wanted to stay home with baby (unlikely going by last time but its taken the choice off me)

Souredstones · 02/07/2013 21:32

Comparison with my last pregnancy (different employer) 6 months full pay, 3 months smp, 3 months unpaid. Think I was spoiled there though!!

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 02/07/2013 21:45

Hi all,

Just got my bfp yesterday, due date I think of around 9th March. Total shock as we were tta, and it took us 10 months to conceive DS so I was convinced we were sub-fertile!

We were planning to start ttc in about six months time anyway, so it's not a disaster, but I am pretty apprehensive about coping with a very lively toddler (currently 15 months) whilst pregnant, and having 2 under 2 (if only for a month!).

Anyhow, glad to find this thread. Look forward to chatting with you all.

I've no idea what I might get as far as maternity pay goes - my company is so small (4 employees) it doesn't have a written policy! The last baby born to an employee was in 2004, and the last one before that was 1991! I think my most recent colleague got a deal similar to your last one Soured, so I'm hoping for something along the same lines as I'm more senior than she was back then.

HotCrossPun · 02/07/2013 22:06

Hello all! Got my BFP today, due date of the 6th of March.

I'm reassured to read that there are other people are terrified as I am. This is our first so I've been frantically swotting up today about what I should/shouldn't be eating and drinking.

Let's make sure we've got plenty Biscuit 's and Brew in. We've got a long wait ahead of us Grin

IceNoSlice · 02/07/2013 22:15

Apprenticemamma - I'm going back full time but have lots of hols to use so easing in, and should only be for 5 months or so (I guess I'll finish for this little bean at Christmas or soon afterwards). Just not keen on the boss knowing I'm upduffed again so soon.

OnTheRun all being well, I'll have an 18 mo and a newborn Confused! So we'll be both run ragged, no doubt.

MortifiedAdams · 02/07/2013 22:17

Is anyone keeping it a 'proper' secret til at least three months? Last time we didnt tell a soul til we got married dot on 11 weeks and broke the news in our speech

This time round we dont have a specific date to keep the secret til, and I am just itching to tell my mother. Trouble is, she is totally unable to keep a secret and knows everyone in our little town.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/07/2013 22:27

We're not planning on telling anyone yet. DH wants to wait until the 12 week scan before we tell a soul, but I want to tell my best friend in the next 3 or 4 weeks - she's been a rock for me through our fertility struggles.

VenusInfers · 02/07/2013 22:40

Hi All!
Just hopping on the bus.
I've a est due date of 1st March, and as I was 15 (!) days late with DS I reckon March is def the gang to join.
I'm another of the over 40s, been ttc for a couple of years, and had a MS at 10 weeks last autumn. So like many on here I'm doing my v best to not get TOO excited. So no one told yet except DH, and aiming to keep it that way for a while...

snapple21 · 02/07/2013 23:22

I'm having an early scan next tues to check for heartbeat! How will I last till then Arghhhhh

marie456 · 02/07/2013 23:44

Hi ladies. I got my bfp this morning after 8 months TTC #1. Feels very surreal indeed. Apprentice I remember you from the TTC buses! Congratulations to us all! Suppose o better go register with a gp! Haven't changed gp since moving house last Dec!

marie456 · 02/07/2013 23:44

Oh, think I'm due 9th March

apprenticemamma · 02/07/2013 23:45

god I'm such a blabbermouth compared to you lot. Have told mum, two best friends and my office buddy at work (also a v v good friend and bc I need a safe space in which to cry, vom and be cognitively deficient from time to time ..Wink ).apart from my stepdaughter no one else is knowing till the 12 week scan. ..x

Souredstones · 03/07/2013 07:34

I think I'm going to have to tell my line manager in the next week or two. We are only allowed 10mins a day comfort breaks and I'm taking over double that because I keep needing a bloody wee!! Notwithstanding the fact nausea is creeping in already too so may be late into work on some days sigh not fun!!

Oh and I already want to cut my nipples off. Wearing a bra is so uncomfortable already Sad like I said earlier I don't remember being this symptomatic this early on last time. Hope it's not twins!!

Rockchick1984 · 03/07/2013 08:00

Morning every

Rockchick1984 · 03/07/2013 08:07

Lets try that again...

Morning everyone! Feel sick as a dog this morning, although if it is anything like last pregnancy it'll stay as nausea and never turn into vomiting so fingers crossed.

Soured you can always blame a water infection if you aren't ready to tell your manager yet, personally I think with the extra legal protection you get once you notify them, it's worth letting them know immediately :)

Apprentice we weren't going to tell anyone after what happened last time (MMC at 12 week scan, had seen heartbeat at 8 weeks so had told everyone) but have ended up so far telling best friend, mum, MIL and had to tell another friend as we went out for a meal with them and it was obvious I wasn't drinking! Going to tell my dad at the weekend when I see him, don't want to tell him over the phone.

Marie can you self refer to the midwives? Although may be worth having a dr you can get to in case you need any prescriptions - last pregnancy my dr was happy to prescribe me gaviscon over the phone and I could just collect the prescription :)

Souredstones · 03/07/2013 08:09

True enough.

Hope everyone is keeping well today.

RugbyWidow7 · 03/07/2013 09:28

Morning! I'm also a total blabber mouth. We told all our close baby friends (most of which were already pregnant) last month before the mc, plus parents and siblings. I'm sure it wasn't the wrong thing for us to do though, as they were then all there for us when things went wrong. This time, I think I'll try to hold back a bit more but just know they'll all know very quickly, with no caffeine, wine etc. Smile. Honestly, I would tell them if things went wrong again so why not say I guess. Think I'm far too open!

I'm going to try to book my own Mw app today after what you've all said. Thanks.

Puddlet · 03/07/2013 09:28

Things I had forgotten since last time - insomnia - nothing quite like waking up at 3:30. Zzzzzz

HotCrossPun · 03/07/2013 09:41

How is everybody feeling this morning?

I attempted a pot of chilli hummous for breakfast - bad move!

Booked in to see doctor tomorrow afternoon. What happens at the first appointment?

MMMummyyy · 03/07/2013 10:38

I have recently discovered I am expecting my third, and I believe I am due in march, but I hoping I will leave the march club and join the Feb club (No offense, I just have no idea how many weeks I am, and a scan tomorrow will confirm my due date... ) I could be 5-8 weeks, so FEB or MAR? Anyway, I hope this baby and all of your babies too are safe and well, and that we have a happy and healthy 8.5 months. Congrats to you all and good luck.

Beccadugs · 03/07/2013 11:08

Hi everyone,

Can I tentatively join?! I got my BFP yesterday, and feeling v nervous that this bean won't stick. (Had a miscarriage 9 years ago, only pg experience thus far!)

Have so far told my best friend, as I fell asleep into my soup last night!!

Not sure what to do about my LM, might have to say something as exhausted and feeling really rough! (At least I know why now!)

MortifiedAdams · 03/07/2013 11:41

Hi new ones! Soo so tenpted to tell ny closest work collegaue - she needs uniform in the same size as me, ive ordered mine but not hers - trying to tell her she can have mine when it gets delivered (6 week turn around), without telling her why!

MortifiedAdams · 03/07/2013 11:42

Oh another colleague has the same age gap for her kids as I will have and IM dying t talk to her about how she copes.

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 03/07/2013 11:53

Morning all,

Been trying to work for several hours now and failing miserably so have given up and given in to browsing mumsnet!

I have told one close friend - I did the same last time. It's partly just needing to have someone to talk to outside of DH and I - it's such a big thing to not talk about for several months! Also partly because I think if things did go wrong and I were to miscarry, I would want someone who already knew I was pg who I could turn to for support.

We're going to be on holiday next week with my parents, so we will probably tell them too. And then we'll have to tell DH's parents so it's 'fair'. Then they will all get over-excited and not shut up... They did manage to keep it to themselves last time though, so I think we'll be ok.

My symptoms so far are being desperately thirsty, needing to pee every ten minutes, and super-sensitive nipples. I'm still breastfeeding DS and having to clench everything for the first minute or so till my milk lets down - ouchie!

I also have quite a bit of tenderness around my pubic joint. I had very bad SPD/PGP in last pregnancy and have been getting a mild recurrence every month. I'm a bit scared that I'm not even five weeks and it's already hurting. I'm booked in with my chiropractor for tomorrow...
