Teddybear4 · 24/06/2013 13:43

Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

I'm so excited it doesn't seem real!! And still got so long left to go too lmao

Dh is driving me mad with his over the top concern already! This is going to be a loooooooong few months!

MortifiedAdams · 01/07/2013 20:54

Hello all, can I join? Never managed to get on an antenatal board with DD1.Just had my BFP a couple of days ago and thought I would join.

If anyone is tracking stats:

MortifiedAdams DC2 due 09/03/14 if my dates are correct atm.

Has everyone arranged their booking in appointments yet?

HamwidgeAlive · 01/07/2013 21:30

Congratulations to all the new BFPs.

Mortified, I am going to call next week when I will be 6 weeks. I called at 8 weeks last time which was a bit late!

Had a day of nausea and massive hunger on Friday, headache today and twinges. Still keeping everything crossed for no/little sickness.

Hope everyone is well.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 01/07/2013 22:38

Mortified I am 5 weeks tomorrow and made a call to the midwife team today (GP surgery doesn't do booking in in my area any more). They haven't got back to me yet, so I will chase up in the next day or two.

I asked the nurses at my fertility clinic when I should make a booking in appointment and they said the sooner the better, that way you are in the system so if, god forbid, anything goes wrong, they'll have all your facts to hand without having to question you too much.

MortifiedAdams · 01/07/2013 22:56

Ahh right. Well, im.four weeks today, will ring next Monday.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/07/2013 10:19

I've got my appointment though - 25th July. The midwife said they like to see you around 8 weeks - I'll be 8+2 then.

Souredstones · 02/07/2013 11:25

I rang my surgery today to find out the process (been 9 years since I last did it!) and have to see a gp ASAP and he will make the referral for blood tests and a scan and refer to the midwife when the results of those are in. So looks like I don't see a midwife until 15 weeks here!!

MortifiedAdams · 02/07/2013 11:41

Does anyone have ny pregnancy apps on their phones? It would be nice to have someehere to log stuff like appointments, mood, synptoms names etc

Didnt do.any of that sort of stuff with dd but thought it might be nice to do this time.

MortifiedAdams · 02/07/2013 11:41

Soured are you UK? Im surprised - I always assumed the MW appointmebt was before the scan.

Rockchick1984 · 02/07/2013 12:06

Mortified I've downloaded pretty much all the free pregnancy apps Blush My favourite is probably the Babycenter one, but if you want to track your symptoms then I'm Expecting is good for this. I'm too lazy generally to symptom track, I like seeing the baby developing week by week.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/07/2013 12:06

I'm using the Fertility Friend Pregnancy Tracker on my phone and have downloaded the Bounty app on my iPad. I think the Bounty app has a diary for appointments in it.

I was asked by the midwife to weigh myself now and bring the result to the appointment with me so that they can track my weight gain. I've also got the Maternity Notes forms to partially fill in with family history, etc.

Hi All and congrats to all the newbies. I am now 5+4 with EDD feb 28/mar 1 so straddling both threads but everyone is mostly quite ahead of me on feb! I am torn between dreading sickness and wanting the reassurance. Feeling a bit sensitive quesy today but no cramps for a while, like all of you anxious to get to that 1st scan :-) have a gp app next wed for referral. My sister just posted a 12 week scan on FB so really happy for her but seeing her on sun and can't decide to tell her or be careful and also let her have her moment of excitement and wait for mine. Think I should stay Schtum if I can hide sickness if its really hit by then.

RugbyWidow7 · 02/07/2013 12:51

Hello, I'm marking my place here too. So glad to find a March 2014 bus. I'm 4/5 weeks pg with our second baby (due 5/6 March), after an early miscarriage last month. It sounds as though lots of people are in similar, v nervous positions, so v pleased to be here for mutual support. Be strong ladies and babies!

April13 · 02/07/2013 13:07

Hi All,
Can I ask what your thoughts would be on an early scan? There is somewhere local to me that is doing them for £39 and im not sure whether to book one because i am a complete control freak for peace of mind and to help my excitment along :)

April13 · 02/07/2013 13:09

apprenticeemma just saw your post; that'll teach me for reading these back to front! Thats sad about your FIL :( Must have been difficult feeling so sad and happy all at once.

If you are clued up you can help me along :) as I dont have a scooby doo Confused

RugbyWidow7 · 02/07/2013 13:10

Also have a tugging sensation and have felt sick everyday for the last 6weeks! Didn't have any sickness last time. I spent a night I hospital with ds1 at 5.5 weeks, as I bled heavily and nearly lost him. So so nervous after last two experiences! Tennis Brew

Stats: rugbywidow07 dc2 due 06/03/14 (ds is 22 months)
Have a dr app booked for 15th July, though thAt seems forever away so I may go to the drop in clinic, to get on their records and poss request an early scan! Hope everyone's feeling ok

RugbyWidow7 · 02/07/2013 13:15

Sorry April x posted. I'm thinking yes to early scan. I had two last time and they were so lovely, really set my mind at ease. I'm remember thinking it must be so hard to wait until 12 weeks! It's such a long time. I'm really hoping they'll give me one, or I can find an amazing offer like yours! Smile

Souredstones · 02/07/2013 13:44

I'm in north Essex so very much in the uk. I thought it was odd too. Can't say that to a doctors receptionist tho

IceNoSlice · 02/07/2013 17:07

I really need to get on and book that booking in appointment. But I'm in my last month of maternity leave for DS1 and a bit worried they will be all judgey and say it's too soon. My 12 week scan will be around 2 weeks after I start back at work! Eek! And apparently you show sooner with second child so probably won't be able to keep it from my boss for long...

Souredstones · 02/07/2013 17:46

I've just looked at my workplace mat leave policy and its appalling. It basically doesn't give you the choice to do anything but return to work Sad crap news to start the 9 months with!!

apprenticemamma · 02/07/2013 18:35

evening all... just checking in in that moment of post work chillout whilst the ds is engrossed in cbeebies. I tend to message on my smart phone after scrolling through and then reply. struggling to keep up as a lot to take on for pregnancy brainSmile Today I have been having that weird pinching thing too always on my left!! Why theleft ? (cue further googling)...Ravenous again and peeing constantly but thankfully not as vacant as usual can't afford to be at work.. icenslice what do u mean, can u go back part time ? april13 thanks hon I was just having a bit of a rant, but thanks for your kind words. FIL hung on to t bitter end as he was desperate to meet him . I'm sure he would be v proud though. Happy to help with any advice but I'm no expertWink !!!!! x

Rockchick1984 · 02/07/2013 18:37

How come its so bad Soured? If its any consolation, I'm a SAHM so don't get anything for being pregnant :) Gave up after having DS, as it wasn't worth going back between stressing about hours (DH shifts, mine retail) and the cost of childcare. Can't complain though, I love it!

I had heard a rumour that my area is covered by one to one midwives - basically like having an independent midwife but its NHS funded. Gave them a call today and they cover where I live so definitely going through them - I want a home birth and would be devastated if staffing levels prevented it whereas this way the midwife will definitely be able to be there!

RugbyWidow7 · 02/07/2013 19:35

Oh ha doesn't sound good souredstones. I've been freelance since i was last pg and qualified for maternity allowance last time, however, the work dried up a couple of moths ago so fear I may get absolutely zero this time as I won't have worked enough hours if things carry on like this.

Ds is ill so I've been stuck in he house for days and literally ate my way through the day today - not good! Although it was the first day I haven't felt nauseous for weeks! Grin

MortifiedAdams · 02/07/2013 19:36

Soured what is the policy? I get 6 weeks at 90%, 33 weeks at smp and three months of nowt. It is bad, but I suppose with Enhanced Mat Pay I would have to pay it back if I decided to leave.

Coolhand · 02/07/2013 19:49

Hi Ladies and welcome/congrats to all the newbies!

Pleased to say I'm 100% better and enjoying my holidays.

In terms of booking in appointments etc, my experience is that they do differently all over the UK. I'm in Northern Ireland and I have to book GP's appointment who then refers me to hospital for booking in appointment with m/wife, scan all in the one go. My friend in the next trust, 30 mins down the road has booking in appointment with m/wife first, then scan. I remember from thread with my first that there were lots of different systems depending on your trust area!
