I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

Hi everyone, such a huge amount to catch up on since I last posted (I can only log in at work and have been busy/on training).

Still no news from MrsJC and Swift? I'm sending positive thoughts to you wherever you are.

The cough that I had has finally gone and now I'm not feeling sick any more, but still constantly hungry. My low point seems to be around 7pm when I'm putting DS to bed and dinner still seems ages away even though I often eat something with DS now too!

Any suggestions on things to drink? I'm bored of water, gone off herbal tea, don't like the decaff tea (but will try and find the decaff earl grey someone mentioned), don't fancy sweet stuff, found lime squash disgusting tho' I used to like it...

cadbury · 05/07/2006 13:07

nice to have you back babydriver (were you at the big Christmas meet-up btw? I think I met you )

How about that flavoured water, really chilled. Or Wittards do lovely iced teas in powdered form.

soundbites · 05/07/2006 13:21

Hello Babydriver - I've become big fan of tomato juice at the moment! It is what I ask for if we are out somewhere and I want to look like I am drinking a sort of normal drink. Also someone at work has bought me some weird stuff in a jar called Barley Cup which you can get from health stores. I was a bit dubious but find it actually quite good. You can have it with milk and then it looks like it is tea which is useful if you don't want questions!

I also hit a low in the evenings - but in my case it is when I feel most nauseous (then, and when I first get out of bed in the morning). I think someone posted about evening sickness so perhaps that is it. DH finds himself having to make supper most nights!

peachygirl · 05/07/2006 14:43

oooowwwww sore bum!!!!!

cadbury · 05/07/2006 15:44

peachygirl? what have you done to it?

soundbites · 05/07/2006 15:56

Sorry ladies - about to rant! The midwife just returned our message and it turns out she is shocked that I haven't been seen by her or one of the other midwives and has managed to get me an appmt a week today. I explained that the doctor told me I would be contacted, and that the receptionist told me the same thing when I called feeling concerned that I hadn't heard. Turns out the doctor should have told me to make a midwife appmt on my way out and she was apologetic that the receptionist had got it wrong too! I am amazed - apparently I wasn't even on her system! No wonder I was anxious about what was happening ? FUME. She tells me that the nuchal fold screening will be done at the same time as my scan (she said the scan is happening just in time - i.e. during week 13) so that is at least good news. So glad I sorted it out, but it has been a rather mystifying process. I do feel a bit silly not realising, but being a first baby I don't know how you can be expected to know the procedure. I do wonder when I would have been picked up on the radar?

OK, rant over. Just needed to share my frustration. Apologies ...

soundbites thats terrible, good job you got in touch.
cadbury I had a VZIG injection which is for chicken pox as they found out I was not immune and we have more cases in school. It was 4 vials of the stuff. I had it all in one go in one bum cheek!
It will cover me for 3 weeks, which is about up til the end of term, and I'm seeing the midwife the day after I break up so I can discuss it futher with her if I am still worried, which I'm not really, but happy the doctor wanted to go for this - sorry bit of a ramble.
I'm also -ve for toxoplasmosis. Dh has been sorting out the cat litter and I have that antibac stuff from the farm trip I will use after touching the cat/preparing meat(along with hand washing). She's been very good, going outside recently and it not like I'm touching her mouth and bum all the time!
I work in a special school and hand hygiene is very important and drummed into us anyway!

cadbury · 05/07/2006 16:58

Ahhh I see! I think you shoul lie on your side and have someone feed you peeled grapes - I'm sure it would make you feel better

ChiTownLady · 05/07/2006 18:11

Hello ladies, sory I've been out of the radar for a while as my mum has been visiting which has been pretty busy and a bit of a PIA as well.
Having real trouble with my clothes as I have found very little will do up anymore ithout feeling like Ive been cut in two and any mat gear is just enormous ( particularly here in the states - loads bigger than i remembered in the UK) all the suff my mum brought over from UK is just winter stuff so no joy there either...

Am feeling a little better this last few days felt dreadful the last 3 weeks or so - my gynae said things nomally peak so I am hoping that things settle down a bit now. I am not seeing her again until end of june when ill be 11ish weeks - but so far i've had loads of bloods done and 2 scans so feeling pretty comfortable. ( saw the heartbeat last week on my 8mm foetus!)

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 18:16

I am still here
Still bits of bleeding (it's been for a week now on and off) but at no point has it been enough to say I've definitely miscarried, I'd say it's more than spotting but then it's completely nowhere near as heavy as a period - generally it's only there when I go to the loo, I wore pads for 3 days and there was nothing on them. Doctor faxed scan request on Monday and they were going to call me with an appointment - but NOTHING. So I can see I'm going to have to ring the hospital and get arsey tomorrow.
Still feeling a bit sick but do I still feel pregnant? No idea - totally lost all sense of proportion and totally fed up with the uncertainty. Thanks for all the concern ladies and hope everyone else is doing OK. No news of Swift then?

Marina · 05/07/2006 19:01

MrsJC - so sorry to spy this on my whizz through Last Day Wishing you the best of luck, I bled quite heavily for about a week with dd and she is now a saucy pre-schooler [hopeful emoticon]

ChaCha · 05/07/2006 20:00

Hello girls,

Peachy - Ouch! Sounds painful but bet you're glad it's all over with now. I was 22 weeks pregnant last year as term three came to an end. Cannot put into words the sense of relief that overcame me when I handed in the last of the reports...ahhhh!

JC - So hoping that everything is ok. Definitely put on stern/pushy hat tomorrow with hospital. Thinking of you.

SB - Terribe mix up but at least it's sorted now

Would anyone mind if I started a stats thread? We did it last year on our Nov thread...

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 20:21

Thanks Marina!
am vaguely considering taking myself down to A&E if more blood as a bit worried about ectopic, as I do have extremely knackered tubes
Cha Cha I don't have any objection to another thread for stats
Soundbites, one thing you will learn is most places are totally disorganised when it comes to ante-natal stuff. Be prepared to wait for HOURS at every appointment because they book you all in at the same time and there are never enough people to see you. prepare to be told a completely different story by everyone you see and to explain any history over and over again! The only answer is to hassle everyone endlessly and keep on top of things yourself

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 20:22

and thanks cha cha too - looked like I ignored you there

teabags · 05/07/2006 20:27

Mrs JC - make sure you practise what you preach and make a fuss and get that scan pronto

Soundbites - FWIW I never saw a midwife until I was 20 weeks ++ with my 1st, very disorganised. I had to write letters, call, push, complain to my Dr , all sorts.

yeah, go ahead with the stats

suzi2 · 05/07/2006 22:32

chacha stats sound good

MrsJC - push to get seen this week. It's ridiculous keeping you waiting. Have you tried calling your EPAU direct? The one where I live is great but the GP/EPAU link is crap

Peachy - ouch, you have my sympathies.Perhaps your should invest in one of those inflatable bum cushions as you could use it for the 'trauma' after giving birth too!

Soundbites - I'm still waiting to hear anything about midwives or scans. I'm not holding out much hope as with DS I was lost in the system and since it was over Xmas, I couldn't call them until Jan when I was about 11wks. But it all worked out in the end and they rushed things through.

My nausea is definately improving. A bit too early for the peak I think. Not sure if it's improving because I'm only eating 'breakfast goods' or not. Carbs seem to work for me.

flowertot · 06/07/2006 07:04

Where do I find the stats thread?

swift1 · 06/07/2006 10:05

Hi everyone,

unfortunately I'm not pregnant anymore. The bleeding got heavier over the weekend, with quite a lot of pain, and then Monday something came out which wasnt a blod clot.
I rang the EPU and they said not to bother going up as they cant do anything. I have to do another pg test in a week and if that is positive I have to go up then and they will scan me.
I did try really hard not to get too excited as this happened in November too...

Best of luck to all of you.

MrsJohnCusack · 06/07/2006 10:08

oh swift1 I am so sorry - how awful
Take lots of time to look after yourself

I have a scan at 12 today now so maybe I will find out what's going on with me. Terrified, frankly.

ChaCha · 06/07/2006 10:10

Swift - I don't know what to say, I'm really sorry I'm no good with words at the best of times. Thinking of you and here if you need us x

ChaCha · 06/07/2006 10:11

JC - X posts. Wishing you the best of luck. Will log in again in the afternoon to see how it all went. Fingers crossed eh?

swift1 · 06/07/2006 10:21

Mrs jc, i hope all goes well with the scan good luck xxx

suzi2 · 06/07/2006 10:25

Aw swift - sorry to hear your news. Hope you're doing OK.

MrsJC - best of luck for your scan.

babydriver · 06/07/2006 13:06

so sorry to hear your news swift. do make sure you take that test and get things checked out so that you're tip top for trying again when you feel ready.

And hoping MrsJC that all is well this afternoon.

Peachy, glad you're sorted for now and hope you've been able to find something soft to sit on.

As for me, I'll be trying out some of those drinks suggestions - thank you. I'm sure something in there will do the trick.
