Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Slippy, I don't know where my placenta is as not had 20 week scan yet. I have been feeling very slight movements for about a month now, getting much stronger in the past couple of weeks so that DH can feel too. I usually feel a few movements when I wake up (about 5) and then in the evening. Throughout the day there are just one or two at a time and I don't always get anything. I had a day last weekend where it didn't move all day and I got worried. They feel move like waves or rolls than sharp kicks usually, though the ones where it is just one movement feel more like kicks. The baby seems to respond to DH putting his hand on my tummy, cold drinks and sweet foods.

Natalieand · 08/06/2013 14:35

slippy do u ever get like a twitchy eyebrow of something? I think first little kicks feels like a twitch in a certain area of the tummy...

roxvox · 08/06/2013 14:39

Thanks for the tip Penelope! I came away with a pack of sleep suits, a pack of long sleeve baby grows, and a pack of sleeveless too. I spent far too long in there. It's difficult when we don't know the sex. I didn't want to buy plain white, but all of their coloured 'unisex' stuff seemed quite boyish. Bought some lovely little bits though Smile

Orange I bought a similar baby grow for my DH for Father's Day too... It's got to be done!

Glad your scan went well pseudo, even if it was all very to-the-point!

I can't remember who it was who said that they liked the look of the Britax affinity buggy, but I have liked it on paper for a while too, so was really pleased to actually see one in the flesh today! I still think it's lovely, but am a bit disappointed in the colour choices.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/06/2013 14:39

Natalie I wouldn't want to be a club either. I think that's perfectly reasonable. They must be having something to eat first, even if not all of them/ not a big do. Good idea to just go to that bit. Or perhaps they could have brunch or something the next morning you could go along to. Or you could go out with your sister another time to get your nails done for the wedding and have lunch/an afternoon drink another time.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/06/2013 14:40

That being said I don't like clubs all that much even when not pregnant!

roxvox · 08/06/2013 14:43

I would say the same as orange, natalie. I would be quite pleased to use my pregnancy as an excuse though (not much of a club person either). But meeting them for breakfast the next day or having food with them the day before would be nice. I am not sure what your sister is like, but I know that mine would be offended if I didn't go out, but I would try to make it up to her with something like orange suggested.

roofio87 · 08/06/2013 14:44

Natalie I don't think its unreasonable not to go at all. you're right, its just too much a noisy busy environment for us at the moment imo. don't feel bad, they'll understand.
my best friend is having her hen do early next year and I don't think she gets that I won't be able to (hoping to exclusively bf) and won't to leave the baby that soon on. a battle I'm anticipating nearer the time!!

Natalieand · 08/06/2013 14:50

My sister probly won't be offended I don't think. But my other sister who is organising it is annoying me cos I'm saying to her please go out for something to eat first so I can come to that bit and she's saying back to me 'were just gunna go with the flow and not make any plans' well ill be just short of 29 weeks pregnant so if they do go out I won't be able too find something to wear with an hourS notice or drive all that way either. Guess ill just have to count myself out it just annoys me cos would it really hurt them to eat first so I could be included as I am a bridesmaid :-(

Natalieand · 08/06/2013 14:51

all be it a whale in a dress lol

Slippysnow · 08/06/2013 15:10

I wouldn't bother going, or just go to the meal. Id also be scared of drunkards bumping into the bump.

And yep, it's my first baby. I know what you mean about the twitchy eyebrow and the very few (possible) movements feel along those lines.

And orange I haven't had my 20 week scan either but I saw on my 12 week scan notes I had an anterior placenta.

I'm really desperate for dp to feel something, that's going to be magical :)

roofio87 · 08/06/2013 15:29

slippy I thought the same, but every time I make him feel the baby he freaks out!! he hates it Haha Smile

GTbaby · 08/06/2013 15:51

Pl- baby grows with no feet for new burns are a pain. They ride up n socks get kicked off.

Rox. Sainsburys have some nice colourful grows. Bright coloured stars. Also got some nice bits from debs. For new borns baby grows with built in mittens are best. Most places do them as standard.

moonblues · 08/06/2013 15:55

Hi everyone! Welcome back Penelope and Bridget - I thin I was on a preconception thread with you - memorable name! Think I might have changed mine since then...

I've done 3 loads of washing today and had a major clear out of my clOthe

Flyer747 · 08/06/2013 15:59

Nat I have the twitching sensation now, in the evening it's fully on the go. I also couldn't think of anywhere worse than a nightclub whilst I'm heavily pregnant! I had a hen do this month but cancelled it, although it was abroad! No one minded x

moonblues · 08/06/2013 16:04

Hi everyone! Welcome back Penelope and Bridget - I think I was on a preconception thread with you - memorable name! I might have changed mine since then Hmm

I've done 3 loads of washing today and had a major clear out of my clothes that no longer fit me, which I think must be nesting instinct as I'm not normally tidy! Have realised I desperately need to get some new tops for work, I've tried looking on the high street bur not really found anything, so think will have to look online - does anyone have any tips?

claphammama Conrad is on my list! I think it's a good strong name, a bit unusual, but not made up and easy to spell.

moonblues · 08/06/2013 16:05

Whoops managed to post twice, sorry!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 08/06/2013 19:10

Can't keep up with the thread!!!
I would go for dinner for the hen do but no way would you get me in a club!
We are visiting friends in London, they live 5 mins walk from northcote rd- also known as baby shopping heaven! I have bought bump so really lovely things and am thoroughly pleased with myself!! Think we have also decided on the phil and teds Verve buggy.

Tarlia · 08/06/2013 19:18

Oh I miss the Northcote!

Nat I'd perhaps speak with mum or the wedding sis, see if they can convince other sis as they will need to eat!

MoN you poor thing. How are you this evening? Even if you can't eat def keep those fluids up. Hope you are feeling better.

Baby brain binned all my other thoughts!

MrsO27 · 08/06/2013 20:20

I only found out I have an anterior placenta yesterday but in the last 3 days I've felt movement every day at least a couple of times (before that it was very sporadic and I wasn't even certain it was movement). I'm 20 + 3. It's like muffled, light kicks i can feel but I honestly have nothing to compare them to as it's my first. They make me smile though - was sitting grinning like a fool at work the other day when I felt them as i just knew for sure it was the baby. Was beginning to worry I didn't feel a connection with the baby but feeling movement has definitely helped.

PenelopeLane · 08/06/2013 21:42

I wouldn't go to a club either, but that's as much about having a late night as anything!

roxvox · 08/06/2013 22:08

Thanks GT I will have a look in Sainsbury's as I hadn't thought to try there!

Am pleased with what I bought today, and it seems like a lot, but rumour has it that baby poo doesn't necessarily stay in the nappy so you'll need spares?!

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 08/06/2013 22:59

Hi, I popped up on an earlier thread, and now I've had my 20-week scan I'm feelin confident enough to join in properly. I'm expecting a little girl on 19th October. My brother's delighted because they're expecting a boy in July so are going to chuck all my niece's outgrown girly things my way to make space for boy things!

I'm feeling fine apart from tiredness/insomnia and a really annoying pain under my ribs if I eat too much.

I've got an anterior placenta too, and have felt a few gentle prods and squirms but only had the butterfly feeling once. She was squiggling around all over the place on the screen though, so I'm happy that she's ok in there, I just can't feel much.

Done a little bit of shopping now - a really cute red cardigan that should fit her around Christmas, and a couple of bottles and dummies in the Aldi baby event - I'm hoping to mostly breastfeed but would like to teach her to take a bottle from early-ish so that DH can feed her expressed milk at night so I can go to bed early and be ready for the middle-of-night shift while I'm on mat leave and he's back at work.

roxvox · 08/06/2013 23:28

Welcome catisuptheduff! Nice to have another confirmed girly for the thread! I too get that pain under my ribs if I eat too much. Can be really very painful and gets me panicking!

How is everyone feeling emotionally? I find that if I am not with my DH doing something of an evening then I get really down. During the day I am fine, but this evening for example we had a lovely BBQ together and then unpacked the baby clothes I bought together and put them away and then I came upstairs for a shower on my own and after half an hour found myself teary and emotional. Went down and gave DH a quick hug and sat with him for a minute and now I feel fine again. Only happens in the evenings which I find peculiar. Anyone else getting something similar or is it just me being odd?!

Shirehobbit · 09/06/2013 08:08

roxvox I'm a bit all over the place too - don't know if it's related, but DH is away this weekend. It's certainly not helped the loneliness/isolation worries I've been having. But I went out for a nice meal with friends last night, and yes it was weird not to be drinking with them all, but it was more like old times than it's been in a while.
(Though I then couldn't sleep as the big meal + bump did not want to share space Hmm )

As another anterior placenta and first timer, I do get movements, but very low (just above the pubic bone) and they are like squirmy butterflies. I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and over the last fortnight a pattern is forming with them; I can reasonably expect to feel something about an hour or so after getting up and then again in the evening, sometime before bed.

Hope you've had some respite, MoN x

And welcome to all the new people and returnees! Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 09/06/2013 08:22

How are you feeling today MoN?

Roxvox, I was in a moody, irritable mood last night, I think because DH was out all day and we had such a busy week I hardly saw him. I took it easy yesterday as was so tired but get frustrated and restless when I don't achieve much in a day and dont get outside much, especially as it didn't even stop the tiredness.

I am making some Jaffa cake type things this morning mmm then if the weather stays nice we will go for a picnic on Wimbledon common, so hopefully should be a nicer wife to live with later.
