Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TrixieLulamoon · 08/06/2013 16:46

Very quiet on here lately! I do keep up to date on what's going on but not posting too often.

Outerspace Not sure on presents for my DD's yet. They are 9 and 7 and very easily pleased so won't be too difficult! As for heartburn, I have been suffering badly since about 18 weeks. Rennies do the trick but during the night the last thing i want to be doing is chewing on one.

We also have a name figured out. Though MILFH (mother in law from hell) thinks it's a stupid name (her exact words!). We are not changing our minds though so she can live with her comment every time she says his name! Though she probably doesn't even feel bad she said it.

Ordered some Little Lamb Microfibre size one nappies the other day. 10 for £48 a bargain I thought! If anyone wants to know where I'll dig out the link. You could order a mixture of size ones and twos, and mix bamboo, microfibre and organic cotton all for £48.

Friday was my last day at work. Have 3 weeks annual leave then mat leave starts beginning July. Hope I don't get bored.

31 + 6

JollyShortGiant · 08/06/2013 19:00

Baby is bringing DS a heap of toy cars. I've spent about £30 on eBay/facebook and got about 70 I think. He doesn't really have any die cast cars, despite being obsessed with all things with wheels. I figure they'll keep him amused often! DS will be 2.4 when baby is born.

Gearing up for our holiday at the end of the month. Cannot wait to get away.

RememberingMyPFEs · 09/06/2013 09:18

It is quiet on here, I managed to lose the thread from TIO Shock
I'm now on hols til my mat leave starts Grin
I wrote out my to-do list and think I'm going to be busier now than I was at work!!
Washing clothes, nappies and packing bags today. Nappy Party tomorrow.
I can't remember if I posted on here I had a crappy virus last weekend and developed lumps under my armpit. I'm feeling much recovered but lumps are still there on rhs. I've stopped leaking milk from that side now but still leaking on lhs. Thinking I should go back to the quack Sad tho its probably nothing and they'll just Hmm and send me packing again!

islingtongirl · 09/06/2013 09:46

Hello - just found this thread, I'm 29 weeks with my first, due 24th Aug. 5 more weeks at work, can't wait! Got quite a bit of annual leave to take then officially start mat leave beginning of August. Will be exciting to see some people due earlier on this thread start to have their babies in the next few months Smile

islingtongirl · 09/06/2013 09:47

Oh Remembering, hope things clear up - perhaps go back to doc this week if they don't go?

babyhmummy01 · 09/06/2013 12:12

Sorry after a particularly bad week I cancelled my membership but have lurked and decided to come back.

Remind me NEVER to post on step board though

MrsPennyapple · 09/06/2013 14:02

Sorry to hear that BabyH, I've heard the Step parents boards are pretty harsh. I'm glad you decided to stick around though, there really is so much support here, and laughs too. I tend to avoid the threads that I know will get people wound up, and I only post on fairly lighthearted ones.

The rib pain has hit, with a vengeance! Shouldn't complain really, last time I had it for about five months! So I'm waking up in the mornings with painful hips, and they tend to ease off through the day, and I go to bed with achy ribs. I don't know which is worse, actually.

Pretty sure baby is still breech, have been looking at the Spinning Babies website which gives loads of exercises that you can't do with a toddler around. Like I have time to lay on a board for 20 min three times a day? And going for a brisk walk without a pushchair is, frankly, the stuff dreams are made off. If I don't have the pushchair, that means DD is on foot, and there's nothing brisk about it. I am seeing the mw on Wednesday so she will confirm whether baby has turned yet or not, but I think not.

Remembering get to the doctor, that's what they are for. If they send you away and say it's nothing to worry about, that's good, right?

RNJ3007 · 09/06/2013 14:05

Hi all,

Newbie here. 28+2 with my second child. My DD will be 4 at the end of this month; scary! Can't wait to meet DS, although already being called a 'f*ing hippy' by the MILFH because I use cloth nappies (unsanitary and disgusting), breastfeed (apparently it is unnatural!!!) and baby wear (selfish and stupid). Going to be a fun time ahead!

wavesandsmiles · 09/06/2013 14:12

Hi again babyh second the advice to avoid step parenting boards at all costs! Some regular posters there seem to have enormous chips on their shoulders and it can get v nasty.

Welcome rnj i am all stocked up with reusable nappies, sling and will be breastfeeding. Intending to do so until this one is 2. Planning to cosleep as I did with my older two which keeps resulting in raised eyebrows when I mention it. Sigh.

I'm 32 + 5 now. Still have Hyperemesis, still not putting weight on but no pains or aches so counting my blessings really

babyhmummy01 · 09/06/2013 14:27

Chips is an understatement waves, made mistake of saying that I was glad of the break to have step.kids go hone cos their behaviour had been appalling and got attacked from loads, also got some.very nice support but Jesus some ppl need to chill.

At risk of bein.controversial here I happened to state that if.step.kids were my own then a few smacks would have been issued and nearly got linched, anyone would think I had seat I was planning to beat them to a pulp and torture them.

TrixieLulamoon · 09/06/2013 15:19

Babyhmummy I wouldn't worry about the lynch mob. Half the posters on those boards have a "holier than thou" attitude. Nasty ankle biters that trawl the threads just looking for something they can chew on because they are so bored/have nothing better to do. Doesn't help those looking for a bit of advice, being honest how they feel and asking for help.

Welcome to Isling and Rnj

My pram came this week. It is lovely, felt a little anticlimactic though when I had to take it apart and put it away! Was definitely worth the small fortune we paid for it but now have to find a changing bag that goes with it as there are no matching accessories!!

Rnj You have a MILFH too?? It's awful isn't it?! I hate having to bite my tongue when she is mentioned. Luckily I don't (and won't) see much of her, she lives in another country for the moment.

Think I need to start thinking about a hospital bag ...........

babyhmummy01 · 09/06/2013 15:56

Thanks trixie and you are right about lynching ppl.who are honest. I love my step kids dearly but it doesn't mean I like them when they are being little sods, I remember my parents telling me as a kid that they would always love me but they didn't like me at a given time cos behaviour was so awful. In fact like all kids they can (and I know was) be little shits when they wanna be!

Sorry newbies welcome to the thread, I don't have a milfh although saying that I can see her turning into one!

Have broached the first 48 hours of baby's life with my dad this weekend, my mum is away so feeling brave, have told him that as much as I appreciate their help etc I don't want any visitors for at least.the first 24-48 hours to give us time to bond just the 3 of us, have told dp same and that it includes his kids which he was fine with. Have also asked that they don't have overnights for first month which he has agreed to. I do love that man

RememberingMyPFEs · 09/06/2013 17:15

Welcome islington and RNJ

I will try to get an appt with the doc in the next day or so - you're right, better to be sent packing than ignore a problem. If only 1 boob is going to work it'll make the BF'ing a challenge I guess! Wink

Another yy for cloth nappies here. I've bought some Bumgenius Elemental and am heading to a nappy party tomorrow morning. I'm also planning on keeping her in a sling a fair amount so have found a local sling library so will be heading along when she's here to see what works for us!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine...

32+5 (where's the time gone)

JollyShortGiant · 09/06/2013 18:17

We're not having a change bag this time. We used one for the first wee while with DS but since he's been more mobile and coming out of the buggy I've favoured a rucksack.

babyhmummy01 · 09/06/2013 18:26

I

babyhmummy01 · 09/06/2013 18:32

Sorry phone lol
I have 2 change bags, have a black one that matches the pram and then found a gorgeous classic Winnie the pooh pink one in tk maxx the other week so got that too.

Have packed baby's bag for hospital and started thinking about mine but not done it yet...just looking thru the list that was posted here s few weeks back and seeing what I have/need to buy.

Had parentcraft class on Thursday and got to go round the delivery suite which was great as I can have water birth on consultant led care side if its free. And they were brilliant about ff and don't need to take any with me just need to decide what formula and tell them when I arrive. Has done loads to ease my anxiety

Gonnabmummy · 09/06/2013 19:20

How's everyone packing their bags? A lot of people have said to just take labour essentials in with u + baby bag and leave the rest of your things in car for afterwards... Just found out my sister (designated driver as DP doesn't drive) is away for two nights four days before my due date! It's a family wedding very far away she's only just turned 18 so don't think she realises that I could pop then. Dad would be able to take me but would have to leave for work etc.. So all bags would need to come in with me ARH!
On the up side went to a wedding yesterday was a beautiful day couldn't of hoped for a better one. Apart from the fact there was always someone else's hands on my bump it was the first time I didn't actually feel preg, wasn't tired, no heartburn or nothing!
:)

MissHinky · 09/06/2013 19:32

Adding my name in to the mix - Due Date 23rd Aug!

1st baby and feeling very disorganised at the moment and still so much to do / buy!

Also got diagnosed with GD this week so trying to cope with the changes that will bring for the next 11 weeks!

JollyShortGiant · 09/06/2013 20:01

Argh. Been given very temporary extra responsibility at work as someone is on holiday and it's been crisis after crisis. I fear I've jinxed it.

muddybloodypuddles · 09/06/2013 20:08

Not packed a bag yet, dh keeps saying don't do anything until after the 32wk scan - we will find out if the placenta has moved, if it hasn't it will be a scan booked for 34 and 36 weeks with a csection booked for 37/38 weeks depending on how bad it it. Also if I have any bleeding I'll apparently be taken in and kept on bed rest - all sounds a bit daunting so am hoping scan shows it has moved away from the cervix (as it was completely covering). Mw did say, as I haven't had any bleeding at all it could mean its moved - fingers crossed!
Also not decided on a name, I'm even asking DS (3) for inspiration but all I'm getting is 'pants', 'betty' or 'freddy' - not really keen on any of those lol (although I did think about fredrica briefly)..

31+6

Ditsy79 · 09/06/2013 21:35

MissHinky - also just been told I have GD. I was a bit shocked at first, but am coming to terms with it now. However, I am not entirely convinced I have it as I have been checking my blood sugar 5 times a day for the past week, and so far all the readings have been well in range. Seeing the consultant on Tues, so will see what they have to say about it.
Haven't even thought about packing a hospital bag yet - am 31+5 now though, so I suppose I should get a move on :-)

RNJ3007 · 09/06/2013 22:27

I too have Hyperemesis - lost 3.5 stone at 28 weeks. And I'm anaemic. And have a mutant gene that causes clots, so on clexane. And carry another fun gene, so on 5mg folic acid a day... And now, SPD!

Trixie Oh yes... Sadly she's only an hour or so away, so I see her too much!!! She's still sulking because I refuse to let her have DD over night. She smokes in house, doesn't listen to anything I say and her husband scares DD... And I'm a horrible unreasonable person for not doing as she says!

waves Yay, someone like me! We'll be co sleeping too. It's just easier. Will sidecar at cot though (mostly for my water, book, phone etc though, haha!!)

I'm a RealNappy demo person, so I have a ridiculous stash of nappies...oops.

And I'm once again contracting randomly (and slightly painfully, not like the BH ones) sigh... This little boy is proving even more of a pregnancy nightmare than his big sister!!!!

babyhmummy01 · 10/06/2013 09:04

rnj I don't blame you at all, I am not sure how to broach the smoking issue with my parents yet and not sure they will take kindly to it!

At the risk of seriously jinxing myself my hg appears to have eased substantially in the last few weeks. Still feel sick all the time but not being sick so much now.thank god!

RuckAndRoll · 10/06/2013 09:30

Lots been happening since I was last on it seems. Welcome newbies Smile

Really starting to struggle at work now, but know I'll be bored at home. 5 weeks feels like such a long time until finishing.

I'm kind of interested in reusable nappies, but DH doesn't agree as we live in a flat with no outdoor space and not much indoor space for drying either. We've agreed to start on disposables, get the hang of a baby first, then look at switching if its realistic.

zoodle · 10/06/2013 11:12

Hi all

Hope you all feel good today!

31 weeks today. Marking place!
