I'm still here! 37+4 today and feeling every day of it. I thought yesterday might have been the start as I felt 'off' all afternoon, sharp pains around the bump and in my foof. Aches back etc. Spent Late afternoon and early evening in bed. Called triage as was concerned about the sharp pains, but they were very unconcerned! Thought it could possibly be the start of labour, or just baby getting more into position.

Today has been much more 'comfortable' (as much as it can be at this point!) so I ink baby must have just been heading south.

My DD was a wee early, but was induced due to waters leaking but not fully going, so I've no idea what the beginnings of labour feel like.

This is my first official day of maternity leave and trying to entertain a 2 almost 3 year old toddler while being this heavily pregnant is hard work.

Currently drinking raspberry leaf tea, and going to stock up on pineapple tomorow. At least it feels like I'm doing something!

How are others doing who have other children?

AmbaRoyle · 29/07/2013 19:50

Newbie here can I join? Seem to have missed out on all the other threads.

Currently 35+3 and due 30/08 - I want it out of me now this heat is doing my head in and starting to feel incredibly uncomfortable,as I'm sure you all are. Oh and this is my first!

Gonnabmummy · 29/07/2013 19:52

Welcome amba :)

thekatsatonthematt · 29/07/2013 21:11

39+4, no signs yet.

I've just sent DH out in the rain to get ice-cream for me to eat whilst watching George Clooney in Out of Sight.

This is my reward for taking 19mo DS to the park this morning and "helping" him climb all over the play equipment.

clabsyqueen · 30/07/2013 00:14

Hello! 39+1 here
New to the thread and indeed all antenatal threads (didn't quite believe I'd ever get this far) and in need of some company as these days/hours drag by.

Congratulations to all the ladies who've popped! I can't wait to join you and stop myself browsing the web for my current odds of spontaneous labour.

Sweep planned for my due date next Monday - hoping to avoid the c-section pencilled in for 40+3 or 40+4 due to previous c-section for placental problems (not got an actual date yet as there are actually no free slots available - reassuring)

clabsyqueen · 30/07/2013 00:15

Well done for going to the park Kat. My parenting contribution today was to buy Toy Story and Finding Nemo on DVD for my 2 year old. They have been on repeat all day.....

Thyeternalsummer · 30/07/2013 03:47

39 + 3 and my very first bit of mucus (TMI!!) Shock Only a tiny bit, but very exciting as I've been watching for the plug for AGES now. Currently sitting in a hot bath at 3.30 am with cramps I've had since Saturday. Things are slowly happening. Although hoping baby won't arrive, as I've always worried he would, tomorrow on my birthday. Mummy doesn't share! Wink

Anyone else had thunderstorms yesterday? It's a bit cooler here now, although meant to be 30 degrees on Thursday again. Joy!

Beckett3 · 30/07/2013 05:11

Thank you to everyone for the good luck, my baby girl was born 9.29 Friday morning, they gave me a spinal but had an epidural in place 'just in case'. She had a bit of mucas but all was well until the night time when she stopped breathing and they took her to special care and as they put it 'hoovered her out'. She was only there for a couple of hours and I sobbed with relief when they brought her back.

We're now home and she's asleep and I miss her! She sleeps a lot, doesn't even cry to tell me when she has a dirty nappy, I have no doubt this won't last though!

The pain had been manageable while in hospital but now I'm home I know I'm pushing it too much so the pain is really not good.

She as yet has no name, I think I've narrowed it down to 2 and an waiting for 1 of them to fit.

Skinnydecafflatte · 30/07/2013 05:53

Hello, I have to tell someone while the world sleeps. Woke up at 11.45pm last night feeling a bit uncomfortable and at 2.09am my little girl was born. Made it to the hospital with an hour to spare fortunately and now on ward where DH is snoring in the chair and dd is asleep in her crib whilst I'm wide awake!

She was born at 37+6 exactly the same as ds1 (who was a 5.5 hour labour). Looking forward to going home at lunchtime hopefully but could murder a bacon sandwich and coffee right now!

Thyeternalsummer · 30/07/2013 07:28

Congrats skinny! Very jealous of your speedy labour! Thanks

SendMum · 30/07/2013 07:49

Congrats Skinny, I hope my labour is that quick!!

Bakingabubba · 30/07/2013 09:13

Wow, congratulations to all those whose little ones have arrived! Am now 38 weeks and starting to get just a little bit impatient! Think baby is finally starting to engage though - more pressure now and some very sharp shooting pains that come every now and again right down below (sorry if TMI!) - I figured this just from the babies head?

Come on baby! I know your mother is never on time for anything but maybe you could make up for it by being just slightly early..?

FoofFighter · 30/07/2013 10:26

Well done Beckett and Skinny :D many congratulations to you both Thanks

Beckett, sounds v scary :( I have a feeling this baby in me will remain nameless for a while as we really cannot agree on much!!

Skinny, can I rub you please for fast labour dust??!

38w today, feeling very tired and achey. Can't even contemplate the fact that it could be another 4 weeks really :(

PurpleDana · 30/07/2013 11:04

Congrats skinny & beckett :-)
Glad u feel things are moving now eternal.
bubba I have those same shooting pains down below, when I mentioned it to my midwife she just said 'yeah' lol. So no explanation, just common sense telling me that as midwife said she is starting to engage it's a symptom of her getting lower & lower.

Christelle2207 · 30/07/2013 13:12

Well done and congrats beckett and skinny! Skinny am impressed by how quickly yours came, wow. Nothing much happening here except interemittent back pain. Sowly getting through the must-do-before-baby-arrives list, edd is friday but looks like ill be kept waiting a good while longer.

We still dont have names, kimda hoping dh will be impreessed with my pushing efforts and will be happy just to go with my choices!!!

Mrsd77 · 30/07/2013 14:51

Congrats Skinny and Beckett

All good here. L is 6 days old. Feeding and sleeping well. Trying not to count my chickens!!

Gerty1002 · 30/07/2013 18:02

Oh congrats to all those getting newborn cuddles :).

35+4 and feeling rather off today: absolutely exhausted, back pain, crampy pain and hip pain. Hopefully it shall pass and not be the start of something - though baby is moving an awful lot I'm fairly certain he's still lying transverse so labour wouldn't be a good thing right now!

Starting to come to terms with likelihood of ELCS, to the point where I am considering refusing ECV if offered - really don't like the sound of it at all. Really want to avoid EMCS though, obviously.

How are you all sleeping? I'm practically nocturnal these days.

FoofFighter · 30/07/2013 18:18

I think I would refuse an ECV if I was told I needed one, it just doesn't sit right with me, the baby is that way round for a reason imo, would rather a section.

LouiseD29 · 30/07/2013 18:25

Congrats Beckett and Skinny - wonderful news.

38+3 here and getting very excited and nervous. Finally got almost everything we need for baby - last few bits being delivered over the next couple of days, and have just about finished packing hospital bag (apart from the food bag!) Am getting lots Braxton Hicks and plenty of twinges, but hoping the wee one will hold off until after the weekend as I'm hoping to make it to a close friend's wedding (crazy, I know).

How are other first timers filling their time waiting?????

Gerty1002 · 30/07/2013 19:17

I know what you mean FoofFighter - when reading up on it I discovered they allow you to use gas and air if you feel you need it, which can't be a good sign! Plus it only works 50% of the time with less chance if it's your first baby, so I'm not sure if it's worth the risk or discomfort.

Does anyone have any positive ECV stories?

Baby has moved again now, his bum now on the other side - I think he's just done a 180, which is totally unhelpful! Clearly has inherited my sense of direction!

Bakingabubba · 30/07/2013 19:23

Aww gerty you sound like you're rather down in the dumps. Sending you a hug and also lots of "head down and stay down" vibes to your LO. Will be thinking of you on Friday - let us know how you get on.

louise I seem to be filling a lot of my time by eating cake Blush and generally pottering about. I haven't had any annual leave since December until I finished a few weeks ago and am used to a pretty hectic job so this free time malarkey is still rather a novelty to me!! Also helped that I did literally nothing about preparing for baby's arrival until I finished work at 33 weeks (we didn't even have a baby grow!!)

Gerty1002 · 30/07/2013 19:28

Thanks Bakingabubba, I am feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment. I think I'll feel a bit better after Friday, knowing one way or the other and seeing LO. It's the uncertainty that's making it worse, as well as the exhaustion. Starting to think I need my iron levels tested!

Oh and there's nothing wrong with eating cake, it's what maternity leave is for Smile

FoofFighter · 30/07/2013 19:44

gerty have you looked at the spinningbabies website?

OP posts:
Gerty1002 · 30/07/2013 20:05

I have but the techniques felt very uncomfortable and I was just a bit nervous about it - partly because it's hard to tell exactly where he's lying, it's just guesswork, so I don't want to undo any good work he's doing on his own, if that makes sense. Have just been trying to spend a little time on all fours with bum in the air.

Has anyone here used spinning babies and has it worked?
