eternal I'm afraid your needs come second unless your life is threatened. As long as there are no concerns for baby doctors will always take the position that baby is best where she is. I do sympathise with u, I have been very poorly most of my pregnancy and now with 3 1/2 wks to go I am very uncomfortable & having lots of twinges and pressure down below, but I am just a human incubator and have to suck it up! With the occasional whinge & moan ;-)

Bakingabubba · 23/07/2013 17:05

Hi everyone

Just checking in to say hi. I'm brand new at this and arriving a little late in the day, but better late than never, right?! Currently 37 weeks exactly with first baby, we are in team yellow with the world and his wife convinced we are having a boy!

FoofFighter · 23/07/2013 19:25

Snap Baking, am 37 today, so you must be same edd of 13th as me, also team yellow here, although majority of friends reckon it's a girl :)

Ok I need your advice wise ladies of MN. For the last two days my hips have been aching terribly and the pain often travels down my legs, too. I had a little of this towards the end of the first trimester and on days when I'd over-exerted myself, but this is almost constant now and I've been taking it easy, with a bit of very light walking to prevent seizing up.

Currently in tears in a warm bath, having taken paracetamol which I hope will take the edge off.

Does this sound like the start of PGP or SPD? Or is it just a normal pregnancy niggle for someone at 34+4? Baby is quite low at the moment so perhaps he is just sitting on some nerves? Got midwife appointment on Thurs so will chat to her about it then but any advice much appreciated.

LilPeasMama · 24/07/2013 00:58

gerty has it eased off after the painkillers and warm bath?
I sometimes am in pain if I've been sitting for a long time or been on my feet for a while.

Gerty1002 · 24/07/2013 06:50

LilPeasMama Yes it did seem to ease off a bit after that because I managed to get to sleep quite easily, which I didn't the night before. However I did have to turn quite a lot in the night as the hip I was lying on was getting sore after an hour or two and when I woke up this morning I was really sore until I moved them around a bit. So it seems I'm like you - will have to alternate lots between resting and being on my feet!

Bakingabubba · 24/07/2013 08:25

Gerty I get similar pain sometimes too, goes through my hips and right down the front of my legs, makes them feel like lead. It's not very nice but eases off with a bit of rest and sometimes a bath. I think it started about 34 weeks. Have a chat to your midwife when you see her on Thursday. I do sympathise with you it's horrid!!

foof - yup due on 13th also Smile (though I'm not holding my breath as I am late for everything!!)

37+1

Locketjuice · 24/07/2013 09:07

Checking in, haven't been on here since the beginning I think? 37+2 :)

Gonnabmummy · 24/07/2013 09:44

35 exactly today had midwife yesterday everything's good, she said next time we will have a really good feel to see how far down he is, which I'm quite excited about but then when she made app she said she would be on hol. Have only seen her in the unit before never even seen another midwife so I think someone from the hospital will be coming to cover hope they still have a good feel to check how engaged he is can't wait to find out, will be 37 weeks then so guessing he will be a bit engaged. Been head down since 30 week so hopefully he should just keep going down :)

LilPeasMama · 24/07/2013 11:30

Thats good Gerty at least it did ease!
Yep it's so hard to get in a comfortable position now and after a few hours the pain in my hip is bad.
I need a hoist to turn over now my bump is so big and heavy!
Oh I can't wait to sleep on my front soon!
36+1

FoofFighter · 24/07/2013 12:03

Those with cranky hips, give sleeping on a slightly underinflated airbed a try, it's really helped mine.

Gerty1002 · 24/07/2013 12:24

FoofFighter Does that not make turning over even more of a farce? Might be worth a try though, anything is at the moment!

MrsPennyapple · 24/07/2013 12:41

I found that, sleeping on my side, the hip pain was worse if my legs were bent. You automatically want to bring your knees up a bit, but I found keeping my legs straighter helped a lot. It doesn't solve the problem entirely, but it's a lot better.

FoofFighter · 24/07/2013 13:24

I'm not finding that gerty but I suppose everyone is different? I find it kind of helps to rock about a few times then go for it, helps with the leverage haha! and I crawl off it to the nearest steady thing to hold onto to stand up 6 times a night ffs

FoofFighter · 24/07/2013 13:25

yy to straighter legs, physio told me this when I slipped my disc initially. and pillows between your legs too (some people say knee, I find from thigh to ankle far better, I actually use a rolled up duvet)

OP posts:
Bakingabubba · 24/07/2013 13:42

Another advocate for straighter legs here! Definitely makes a difference than if they are bent. Also pillow helps - agree position of pillow very much personal preference. Have also found swimming (strictly no breaststroke though!) is helpful.

gerty lol at hoist comment - I could do with one too! Have resorted to kneeling up on all fours before trying to get out of bed. It's quite a sight to behold. Poor DH - he has been working away during the week for the last few weeks but is back home full time from the end of the week so he is in for a real treat having me and my pillow in the bed full time!!

LilPeasMama · 24/07/2013 16:52

Straight legs it is tonight!

I have been off work now for 2weeks I have cooked and cleaned washed and ironed and now I'm bored!
I feel my eh

LilPeasMama · 24/07/2013 16:57

....whole routine is out of sorts I'm going to bed later therefore waking up later in the morning then some days having a mid afternoon nap!

There is still things I need to do i just feel I don't have the energy or breath to do it!

Bakingabubba · 24/07/2013 17:28

LilPeas enjoy it while you can - you will never get this time again! Smile

LilPeasMama · 24/07/2013 18:02

baking
Your right I know you are, I'm just usually someone who is always on the go and being my first pg have never had time like this to myself. Blush
