My bags have been packed for weeks (34+2, first pg) but am going to have to repack now, or baby's at least, because my lovely friends threw a surprise baby shower for me yesterday! Though I'd have never organised one for myself (feel it's a bit grabby, like 'please come and give me gifts') it was lovely and we had some fun games!

Jolly mine are in the nursery, as someone else said if I needed to rush in when DP wasn't here I'd be stuck, particularly for all the extra bits that need chucking in last minute (frozen water bottles, slippers etc), plus cars can be broken into!

blondecat · 21/07/2013 07:38

Congratulations Brie and Stiggley

37 +2 here and long time lurker

I think all the organized August mummies will make me heed DH's begging and finally pack my hospital bag

ELCS booked 2 August as baby still back to back and with my history that's just not going to work. Oh and my lower back and hips are killing me so I can't really walk or move much.
Still lovely doctor happy for me to change my mind up to the last minute if baby boy decides to turn after all

Has everyone decided on names yet? We can't. It's a short list of two with our two families firmly in either camp. DH and I just don't know

FoofFighter · 21/07/2013 08:49

Names - argh don't get me started Angry

I even posted on the baby names bit for advice as my OH has such SHIT taste in names..

There's one for each we both love, a couple for each sex that I don't mind but don't love, loads I love that he hates (normal names) 1000000s that he LOVES apparently that are just bloody awful! (Geoffrey anyone??)

This baby is going to be nameless for a while methinks! well 21 days as that's all we get up here in Scotland!

What a rubbish nights sleep...again! Acid reflux making me think I'm about to thrown up, big fat swollen hands that feel like claws, sweating like crazy (thank goodness for our fan!) and oh, just the normal 5 toilet trips!

Bump's feet are in my ribs and he/she has what feels like a hand at the top of my thigh, pulling at something. It's the strangest feeling.

Names wise, we have 2 girls names that we love. For the boys, we have about 4 names that we like. We aren't speaking about names until he/she arrives now. We done this with our DD (we didn't know whether she was going to be a boy/girl and then when she arrived, we just went through the 3 names we had for a girl and one of them suited her more than the others.

OH went to ikea so he is building a chest of drawers for the babies room this afternoon so I can finally get everything I have washed put away and organised. I am still trying to work out how the Moses basket hood works - I can't get it to stay up!

Last week at work this week, thanks goodness. Looking forward to spending some time with DD without having to rush around in the morning getting ready, making packed lunches etc.

Bags are packed had been for a while after we needed a trip for monitoring. But have been done again more thoroughly. We both sat together and decided what to take then DP packed bags so he would know where to find everything touch wood bags are by nursery door because we take the dogs in the boot for walks. Car seat was in but got taken out when I went shopping with friends the other day.
Got some gorgeous curtains from dunhelm mill was the only thing we needed and has really changed look on room :)
Heat horrible at night, can cope through the day but waking up with hair dripping is gross not envious of all the toilet breaks though, somehow I manage to make it through fingers crossed
Some of you are soo close now, I feel like I am and I'm only 34+4!
Had a name before we conceived if he was a boy and he is thank god because I wouldn't know where to start for girls names lol

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 10:19

snuffle snap on the Moses basket...wtaf...shouldn't be that hard surely.

Names...as we know its a girl we have chosen and told people cos we only had one, she will be Evie with 2 middle names that are family ones. Had she been a oy she would have been Henry much to my mum's disgust (odd as it was after her dad lol)

Acid reflux + asthma is driving me crazy, have slept sat upright on sofa for last 2 weeks, managed the bed last night with lots of pillows but woken up with awful backache and painful bump.

PurpleDana · 21/07/2013 10:36

We also had a name before we got pregnant, we discussed them while TTC. Girls names were pretty quickly decided, it was boys names we struggled to agree on. But we are having a girl so no longer a problem ;-)
She will be Poppy Mae. My fave boys name was Isaac Thomas.

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 10:40

Aww purple that is lovely! We liked poppy but my mum's dog is poppy so couldn't. Ours will be Evie Taylor Jane

Christelle2207 · 21/07/2013 12:46

names is a big ssue here, we have a few girl's names that we like but am convinced it's a boy and there's literally no names we both like. compromise is required, obviously if I am going to push him out then I think that means I have the casting vote! we're so fed up discussing we can't be arsed anymore and just hoping that when he comes he will just look like a x???! wishful thinking perhaps, at least we have 42 days to make up our mind but I really want to announce his arrival with his name if poss. Poppy is also on our list, more likely as a middle name.

Gerty1002 · 21/07/2013 12:55

We have David for a middle name as it was my dad's name - he died when I was 10yo.

For first names we have a shortlist and are going to see what he most suits when he gets here. Current favs are William, Matthew, Jack, Isaac or Joseph. I think William is the front runner but we keep changing our minds!

Gerty1002 · 21/07/2013 12:56

PS babyh for a girl we both liked Lily but like you there's a dog in the family by the same name! It's very selfish of pet owners to steal all the good names haha :)

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 13:00

Haha gerty we liked lily too but my cousin got there first. We picked a girls name really easily it was boys we struggled with. Good job we found out the sex lol

PurpleDana · 21/07/2013 13:46

Lily is our reserve girl's name, just in case she doesn't look like a Poppy lol. But Poppy Mae means something to us as well as sounds nice - Poppy because we think we conceived in November, and Mae because may is the month we went on our first date and the month we got married (last year)

Gerty1002 · 21/07/2013 14:09

PurpleDana That's lovely :) I'm sure she'll suit her special name just perfectly!

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 14:26

purple that is a gorgeous reason for a name! And she will be so proud when she grows up to have such a legacy!
We just loved Evie. Taylor is my mail's maiden name but we had it on the list in its own right too and Jane is my mum's middle name and my great grandma so we wentfor a bit of history

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 14:26

Mail should be mil. Poxy autocorrect

JollyHolidayGiant · 21/07/2013 18:00

Thank you all for answering my hospital bag question. :)

We have a girls name but are struggling with a boys one.

Beckett3 · 21/07/2013 18:22

I love the names you guys have picked, I have no one to veto any of mine so the list stands at 22 names and seems to be getting longer not shorter!

I have 5 days now until my elcs, bags are not packed and I feel less ready as each day goes by.

Gonnabmummy · 21/07/2013 21:11

John-James for his name always loved it, mam had it picked but me and sis were both girls. My fathers called John too so nice for him. Partner loves it too so great all round :D

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 21:48

Love it gonnab

beckett3 I reckon I will still be packing mine whilst in labour. Have at least bought maternity nappies pads and breast pads but that it as far as I have got

babyhmummy02 · 22/07/2013 11:23

Grrr my account playing up so had to register again...poxy internet

RuckAndRoll · 22/07/2013 11:54

not been on here for a bit, went away for a few days and enjoying not being at a computer all day at work.

we''ve had a boys name sorted for ages but girls is a lot harder. I have 5 on my shortlist (dh says he only likes 2 but we shall see!)

37+1

Thyeternalsummer · 22/07/2013 16:17

In tears after this weeks midwife appt. Seems anyone not high risk just gets the cheapest easiest treatment available. Really fed up after weeks of contracting without anything much happening. And according to fundal height measurements baby's not really grown much in the last four weeks either. But plan still seems to be to let me go to 42 weeks without any intervention. Not happy Hmm

38 + 2

FoofFighter · 22/07/2013 20:32

Second opinion?

SendMum · 22/07/2013 22:53

What sort of intervention are you after? Unless there are real concerns about your baby's growth, the best place it can be is inside you as it's not even due yet. False contractions are frustrating but they are not a reason to induce labour. If you're really worried about your baby's size you could always request a scan?
