Ok So just noticed that bump went suddenly very hard. Felt a bit uncomfortable but otherwise unremarkable and no pain. Back to normal now. What is that- could it be BH? Not noticed it before.

Woofers · 04/07/2013 20:47

Just lurking again to catch up with the gossip. Yay for stiggley and going home soon Grin
parttimer maternity pads and breast pads are located with the baby wash / bathing products. Boots have 3 for 2. Take 10 per day for the time your expected to be in hospital.

Putting a few in the freezer help with a painful nunny, and a splash of refrigerated witch hazel on a pad can help with bruising.

Gonnabmummy · 04/07/2013 20:47

Braxton hicks! For def christelle is ok unless you need the loo, then the squish becomes a dash haha

FoofFighter · 04/07/2013 20:55

sounds like a BH to me christelle, I seem to get a funny feeling in my throat just a fw seconds before getting one.

Christelle2207 · 04/07/2013 21:38

Ah ok! Won't panic yet then. Thanks.

LouiseD29 · 05/07/2013 06:23

babyhmummy - hope you're feeling better. I felt dreadful the day after my whooping cough jab, but it suddenly lifted early afternoon. Arm took nearly five days to stop hurting completely though.

Haven't been on this thread for a while and it's also making me feel unprepared! We have a bag of baby clothes, a pack of nappies and cot (no mattress yet) so far. That's it! Haven't done a nursery either, but she will be in with us for a while anyway.

34+6. Feeling ok, apart from lots of brixton hicks and waking up before 6 most days.

babyhmummy01 · 05/07/2013 12:07

Thanks louise felt crappy up until today (jab on Tues) but what wad more worrying was beans movements were very subdued and normal she is a proper footballer. But all back to normal today so wonder if my anxiety was over shadowing them or if it was just the effects of the jab passing over to her.

BH are getting stronger and the shooting periods pains are more often so will mention them to mw on Wednesday, am slightly worried that she is gonna come early as she feels very low down although bump hasn't dropped a lot yet so guessing that is a good sign but know she is starting to as the pressure on.my lungs has eased significantly.

Am still not sleeping at night but have slept from 9-1130 with no issues this morning. Poor dp is blaming himself and I feel awful not sharing bed with him when he's home. But we are planning a chilled out 'us' weekend with some intimate time as I feel like I have neglected his needs a lot with how crsp and painful I have felt. He is perfectly happy and tells me I am being silly but tbh I miss dtd (sorry tmi)

Gonnabmummy · 05/07/2013 13:39

babyh I was in the same boat day after jab I felt nothing all day went in for monitoring in the evening and of course he started dong the tango! Made up for being quiet for the rest if the night! So maybe the jab does have an effect? I just didn't want to blame it on that and be wrong so went in.
Only 32+2 today and it feels soo scarily close I can't imagine when I get to where some of you ladies are :s well you will have had your by then.
Friend had a baby this morning makes it even more real! Can't wait but crapping pants all the same

Christelle2207 · 05/07/2013 14:04

just back from 36 week appointment and baby is 4/5 engaged. I thought that was fairly exciting until i googled it just now and realised not really! fairly normal at this stage I think. I was 5/5 at 34 weeks though so I suppose that's progress.
Found the below which I thought was helpful.

PP (presenting Part) relation to Brim (of pelvis )

5/5 - head 'free' and not in the pelvis but above it.
4/5 - just has the top of their head in the pelvis can bob in and out.
3/5 - head in a good position in the pelvis, normally stays like this until labour.
2/5 - most of the head in the pelvis.
1/5 - normally the female would be in labour by this stage as the head is only just palpable from above the pelvis.
0/5 - head totally in the pelvis, birth almost certainly going to happen soon, cervix would be fully dialated.

babyhmummy01 · 05/07/2013 14:15

Thanks gonnabe I think if dp hadn't been.able to feel her I would have been.straight up to triage for monitoring, I was freaking out yesterday. And then today all back to normal. Little pickle is causing me stress already!

FoofFighter · 05/07/2013 16:23

oh Christelle, just as well you posted that as I thought it was the other way round

Mrsd77 · 05/07/2013 17:40

Hi all. Also just back from 36 wk check. Am measuring 44 and the baby is very breech!! Thank goodness my elcs is booked for 2 1/2 weeks time or I'd be busy scrubbing the kitchen floor. Mw has guesstimated baby is already around the 8lb mark. All I know is that I feel very full up!!

In good shape otherwise and BP and urine great even though my hands, feet and knees are gigantic!!

Having lots and lots of niggles and BH. Been told to see assessment unit if they persist as they really want to avoid emcs due to size and presentation.

The end is in sight!!

36+1

babyhmummy01 · 05/07/2013 18:47

Ohhh sounds exciting mrsd, you could be our second one born.

God the heat is killing me, too nice to be inside but too flaming warm to be outside. Who thought a heatwave this late in pg was a good idea??!

Anyone know if I can request a c section cos of fear over my asthma and allergy to pain meds?

thekatsatonthematt · 05/07/2013 21:56

Hi everyone!

36+1 and still did a post round this morning. Well, about 2 thirds of it. But man was I a hot sweaty mess by the end of it!

I have officially requested office duties for the next 3 weeks. To be fair they've been asking me if I want to be office based for about 2 months, but I am more comfortable on my feet moving around, and I suspect they'd have tried to sit me in front of a PC.

Am on iron tablets as my iron levels were not quite borderline at my last blood test and I lost a fair amount of blood with DS so I think the idea is to stablise my levels prior to the birth

MrsWajs · 05/07/2013 22:53

I think it possibly is the other way around Foof and Christelle there is 5ths palpable and 5ths engaged. Palpable is what can be felt above the pelvis which I think is what Christelle mentions in her post and engaged is when the head is "in" the pelvis. So for example if baby was 4/5s engaged the head would still be 1/5 palpable above the pelvis - does that make sense?

Congratulations stiggley on baby Margot :) Hope you're all home and well very soon.

Can't remember who mentioned keeping in touch days but I know for me they are not mandatory, I only have to do them if I want to. Maybe worth investigating so you don't have to go in if it's not necessary.

Can't believe some of you are 36/37 weeks gone, I still fell like I have ages to go at only 32 weeks :(

Gonnabmummy · 06/07/2013 09:17

Mrs wajs I'm only 32 +3 but I don't feel like I've got ages to go Confused dreading when I get as far as some of the ladies here, already thinking its too close!

babyhmummy01 · 06/07/2013 10:29

I am 34 weeks tomorrow and it still seems like such a long way off! I am ready but getting to the point where I just want it over. I haven't felt well since November and I want to enjoy summer!

Gonnabmummy · 06/07/2013 14:11

If I go by lmp dates I would be exactly 33 today but scan dated as 32+3 so suppose they weren't far out. After 5 nights awful sleep managed a better night last night but got up at 8. Went back upstairs at 10 to get a bath before I went to see the carnival and I've just woke up Blush missed carnival it started at two and all roads will be closed but on the up side I feel flipping amazing :D must of needed it

BrieMonster · 06/07/2013 19:54

Hi all, delurking for the last month so I get to join in all the excitement!!
Keep in touch days are definitely not mandatory for anyone by the way!

Congratulations margot and mum! And mrsd no wonder you feel full... Hope you're doing ok. I had a growth scan a week ago and he's only 5 1/2 lbs! Got a section booked for 24th unless I pop before then. A little peeved that they cannot accommodate me in my chosen, local, huge hospital. But am hoping the extra 20 mile drive makes for a quieter calmer place to recover. We'll see...

Hope everyone else is doing well despite sleepless nights and Braxton hicks. Loads of tightening here but no pains. Oh but I did have a night in hosp 3 weeks ago with a bleed but all ok. Unless you count the dr who told me some women deserve the pain of an internal examination!!! Apologies if I told that story already... Can't remember.

37 weeks today!

Gonnabmummy · 06/07/2013 20:59

briemonster not heard that story? Do tell, doctor sounds like a prick piece of work!

BrieMonster · 06/07/2013 21:54

Well that sums it up really. Nurse was commiserating with me about what we women have to go though, he ignored it, she then said it again directly to him and he said "we'll, some women are nice, but some deserve it". Luckily by then he was done messing with my vagina and if it hadn't been 3am I might have been more outraged. but as it was i made a similar remark about "some men" to which he agreed. And we all almost laughed.

Unless he had just had his heart broken I don't see quite why this chap went into obstetrics if that's his attitude! They do get to choose specialist fields don't they??

Stiggley · 07/07/2013 09:47

We were home for less than 24 hrs! Back in hospital as community midwife couldn't take the stiches out and now the stitches have nipped a nerve inside which is v painful.

Also margot's jaundice levels are being monitored as dhe is not feeding v well and v sleepy all the time. As feeding every 3 hoyrs I am off to sleep some more.

Christelle2207 · 07/07/2013 15:59

Sorry to hear this. Are you hoping to be home again soon?

Stiggley · 07/07/2013 20:13

If she responds to treatment then poss Tuesday but I think longer. Really want to be at home but we need to be better. The hormones are horrendous and lots of tears.

Christelle2207 · 07/07/2013 21:12

Oh dear it sounds horrid. Hope your dp is being supportive?
