babyhmummy01 · 02/07/2013 21:08

Will do penny, I see her next week.

Had whooping cough jab today, so far no pain so happy enough.

Think I am in full on nesting mode, have washed and ironed everything I own & baby stuff, set up Moses basket just need to put bedding on, getting itchy to paint the bathroom and kitchen...anyone know if its safe to do it of its low odour paint?

PurpleDana · 03/07/2013 10:49

Hi everyone. Haven't been on here for months so sorry for crashing in last minute!
33 + 4 and feeling tired, awkward & uncomfortable. Baby turns & kicks very strongly and my tummy is all baby so it can be quite painful. I'm getting alot of strong twinges too, some have been really painful, if they hadn't been constant I would've sworn I was in labour!
Baby has pretty much always been head down and I have been quite poorly throughout my pregnancy (hyperemesis, utis, low blood pressure, virus, mallory weiss tear), horrendous heartburn) so I'm hoping she won't be long now!

MrsPennyapple · 03/07/2013 12:59

Had my first braxton hicks last night when I went to bed. A bit alarming, as I didn't have any with DD, until she was actually born. Started with bh and they just got stronger and more painful over a couple of days. Well, I fell asleep pretty quickly, so it must have just been a lone one :)

Purple sounds like you've had a rough time of it. I just googled mallory weiss tear - ouch! Sorry you've been unwell and uncomfortable, hope you are getting plenty of rest.

35+2 and now need a bulldozer to help me turn over in bed.

PleaseDoNotAdjustYourSet · 03/07/2013 13:07

I know I kep saying this but I feel so unprepared! Please tell me I'm not the only one, working FT and looking after a toddler has meant apart from health stuff which of course I always attend, this pregnancy has completely just flown past me.

33+3 so still need to :

Wash all dc1s old baby clothes
Buy an ergo carrier
Buy a hood for the second toddler seat for the p&t double
Buy raincover for the p&t
Finish packing hospital bags (for both me and baby)
Sort out childcare arrangements for when I'm in labour!!!
Buy a chest of drawers for baby's nursery

Feeling very big and lower back is starting to hurt more and more.

TrixieLulamoon · 03/07/2013 16:03

Congrats Stiggley

Hope baby Margot is doing well and you have a quick recovery.

Cakebaby I feel for you with the smoker OH. I gave up smoking when i got my bfp, and so did my DH, or so I thought. Obviously while I was working I had no idea he was smoking on his way home from the school run...... Now on mat leave and he has come home stinking twice. I went mad. The smell knocks me sick!

I am definitely glad I took my annual/mat leave early. There is no way I would be able to manage an hour long commute both ways on public transport and a full day sat at my desk now, am 35+3 and feeling 40+! Obviously means I have to go back sooner but who knows, maybe I'll win the lottery in the mean time and wont have to go back? [hopefulsmiley]

I saw consultant last week and she is more than happy for me to try for a vaginal delivery. Not what expected to hear but I am very happy!!! I thought I was going to leave the appt disappointed with an ELCS date!

Anybody not had the whooping cough vaccine? It was mentioned to me at my 12 week appt then noone has mentioned it since. I really didn't want to have it anyway, just curious if anyone else not bothered with it?

Stiggley · 03/07/2013 16:27

Hello all

Me and margot might be going home on friday! ! She is getting better with eating and stronger. I am feeling slightly better.

Am getting lots of cuddles and she definitely likes her cuddles.

Dh gone back to work and am missing dd1. But he will be able to work from home when I get home. I hope anyway. He has just started a new job!

parttimer79 · 03/07/2013 17:06

eeep everyone seems much more organised than me. I still haven't even had my antenatal classes and I'm 34 +5...
Not packed hospital bag, got some clothes for little one but not enough sleepsuits/babygros so off to get them next week.

Does anyone know whether to get maternity pads or whether big sanitary towels will do the same job?
Also are you getting breast pads which stick to your bra?

Who knew there were so many things to consider??

babyhmummy01 · 03/07/2013 17:32

Stiggley that's brill, keeping fingers crossed for you

Parttimer. I have the ones that stick to your bra, I am rather well endowed in the boobage dept so figured keeping them inside my bra and in one place was best. As for towels, I.asked the same recently after advice from a friend and was informed by the lovely

ladies here that you need mat ones for hospital as they use them.to measure blood loss.

Am gonna start packing my bag soon, have started buying bits for it

parttimer79 · 03/07/2013 17:52

thanks! will get on with some shopping

FoofFighter · 03/07/2013 18:20

fabby news Stiggley! bet you can't wait :D

Please - do they even do hoods for the second seats on P&Ts? I didn't think they did?

Parttimer - maternity towels definitely, a sanitary towel will wick away the blood too fast for the MWs to check, plus they probably wouldn't be big enough, maternity old style ones are so comfy, like sitting on a cushion!

I am Angry just been to town - If you are going to sit smoking on a bench underneath two huge no smoking signs and next to a very obviously heavily pregnant woman, don't be surprised when said woman points this out politely to you, and certainly no ned to give her a mouthful of swear words!!! :/

babyhmummy01 · 03/07/2013 18:41

foof that is disgraceful! Ppl are so.bloody ignorant. I had a woman today who couldn't get passed my chair in.cafe and muttered something about fat women, I pointed out I was 7.5 months pg so would lose my "fat" when I have the baby, she on the other hand would always be an ignorant bitch. O left soon after but she did at least have the good grace to look sheepish

PurpleDana · 03/07/2013 18:44

Thanks Penny, yeah the Mallory Weiss tear was definitely not nice! I was hospitalised for 3 days & nil by mouth for most of it. It was only 3wks ago so still on meds & staying away from spicy/acidic food, but am feeling much better now.
Please - I'm not as organised as I'd planned to be & its frustrating me. I've still got a few bits to get & also finish packing my hospital bag. Working full-time & being ill a lot has not made it easy. But I finish work on Friday so I'm hoping that will help.

RuckAndRoll · 03/07/2013 19:50

Stiggley that's great news, congratulations to you and Margot Smile

Queazy · 03/07/2013 20:03

God, it sounds like some of you have come across some really ignorant, rude people recently! I'm feeling really hormonal and just a commuter rolling their eyes sends me into a spin. Good for you with the fat comment too - what a cheeky cow!

My boss wanted to plan our keeping in touch days today. I'm 32 wks 5 days and have four more weeks at work. She asked if I wanted to attend our November conference and I said no. Amongst other things (another conference 3hrs from me), she asked if I'd like to join the Xmas lunch. Last year it was £65 a head and a boozy lunch. I won't be being paid and will (hopefully) be breastfeeding. I want to say no, but feel really bah humbug. Have any of you had these discussions as we're nearing mat leave, and got any advice you could share? I know I need to just say no to what I don't want to do, but I'll have no one to look after my baby and not sure they've cottoned onto how difficult that makes random days in the early months.

Can't believe it's nearly time...

babyhmummy01 · 03/07/2013 20:37

Queazy I have no intention of doing kit days, for a few reasons, 1 I hate my job so less I think about it the better 2 my boss is a twat and had no idea about anything maternity related so won't have a clue about them and 3 I am not going back so no point keeping in touch lol

As for the rude woman, as I posted on ur thread earlier hormones are a bitch! But she was very rude xxx

babyhmummy01 · 03/07/2013 20:42

Ohh how big is the lump meant to be on whopping cough jab? Nurse said a small lump under akin but mine is huge and very res, not sure if its 'right'

Ditsy79 · 03/07/2013 20:59

babyh - my upper arm really swelled up after the whooping cough jab (think popeye!) but it went back down after about 5 days.
I've only got 2 days of work left, it's feeling pretty surreal. Had my leaving-do this evening at a chinese, got nice pressies and John Lewis vouchers - it's finally starting to sink in that I will have a baby in a few weeks time.
We are mostly prepared (I think!), but I still need to pack hospital bags. Also need to order reuseable nappies, all our friends think we're absolutely bonkers!
35+1 and getting more terrified by the day.

babyhmummy01 · 03/07/2013 21:38

Thanks ditsy, just concerned cos its my no means the small lump the nurse insinuated it would be.

I have bought last bits today for hospital bag so just got to pack it.

33+3 and starting to.get excited but bloody terrified of the giving birth bit

Queazy · 03/07/2013 21:41

I don't blame you at all babyhmummy - I wish I wasn't going back, which is why I'm a bit reluctant to endlessly bond with them while away! Smile

So glad I read your posts about whooping cough jab. Mine is tomorrow so if I swell up, I won't panic. I heard most people are fine afterwards, with just a sore arm, but if you're feeling unwell it could be worse as your immune system is bit down. x

PleaseDoNotAdjustYourSet · 03/07/2013 22:01

foof yes p&t do a hood for the p&t second toddler seat, but you have to buy it separately.

Think baby is still breech, can barely breathe tonight!

Christelle2207 · 03/07/2013 23:48

ditsy we are also trying reusables and friends think we're nuts too! which are you lookong at- we got some bumgenius on ebay and they look promising. 2nd hand and washed but unused. yay for finishing work I have 7 left.

cakebaby · 04/07/2013 00:49

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing OK.
stiggley so pleased for you and little Margot!
foof and Trixie grrrrrr smokers and their vomity fumes! Hi purple Mallory sounds very unpleasant indeed, hope you're feeling better now.

Anyone else feeling the strain? Have til the end of the month to work, felt really ropey today, tired, legs like lead, bit queasy and noisy guts (tmi sorry), uncomfortable bump, just generally not right. Not sure if my easy 7 months is coming to an abrupt end or if I'm sickening for something.

Still got loads to do before feeling prepared, if ever! Trying to choose a mattress for bedside cot, not sure if the bog standard JL one is the easy forward or a fancy bespoke five times the price one stuffed with fairy wings and the sighs of unicorns or some bloody thing is better. Website seems to suggest the former is like getting DC to sleep on a bed of ground glass, but it looks fine to me!

32+5 and utterly terrified! Sorry for lack of personals - attention span gone.

Ditsy79 · 04/07/2013 06:42

christelle2207 Think we are going to get a mix of Little Lambs Microfibre & Organic cotton, with some Bumgenius Freetime - thought those would be less of a faff when out and about, and for the grandparents etc.
I can't believe some of the reactions we've had about not using Disposables - think some people are genuinely feeling sorry for our baby before its even arrived!

babyhmummy01 · 04/07/2013 09:43

Urgh I am feeling rough today. Hope its just from the jab but I hurt everywhere. Feel awfully sick and have more of.the shooting period pains Sad I have struggled to.feel.her move for theast 24 hours but dp could feel her lots last night so think its just cos I am so sore. Debating a triage call

FoofFighter · 04/07/2013 14:03

Another clothie here, I have a mix of Lollipops, Little Lamb Bamboo (night times I think as they take so damned long to dry!!) and Diddy Diapers, got Little Lamb and Motherease Rikki wraps, all in size 1 which will last me until baby is about 9m and spent about £30 in all on them preloved Grin

Then after that got some Motherease OS which again will be for nights as they take ages to dry, need to buy more wraps for them, and also got some cheapo pocket nappies for daytimes (Pixie Pants on FB) with hemp and bamboo boosters, will be getting more of these.
