foof you have my deepest sympathy, I am averaging about 3-4 hours a night and it is driving me demented! it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't bloody exhausted! I can then get the odd half hour doze on the sofa, but its not the same!

I haven't got to the crying under the shower, although temper tantrums in the bath have been known recently - esp when I can't get out cos my tummy muscles are too sore or the PGP is bad!

I have started sorting baby stuff out at 4am and writing my shopping list lol

Gingerbreadpixie · 27/06/2013 15:52

Thanks for replies. I'll leave the pram suit till needed then and pick up a couple if cardis. I'm hoping for a real summer too!

Hugs to you foof. I'm having massively interrupted sleep too. More to do with the fact I don't trust my insulin doses (T1 diabetes) so am blood testing in the night time to make sure my blood sugars are ok and not too high or low (though I was v low last night. Good job I set a 3am alarm). Some nights I'm testing every 2 hours. Bleugh!!!

I also was just in floods of tears because we'd run out of mayonnaise. Catastrophe! :/

Very weepy

Christelle2207 · 27/06/2013 16:11

I've also had a crying fit this week, though I think my reasons were justified. I came home after a long day and couldn't get in. DH was an hour away and had to wait for him to get back so that I could have my dinner. He had been doing some DIY (cosmetic) work with the locks at the weekend and admitted that he hadn't properly checked them when he was done. He was in a foul mood about having to come back early but did apologise later.

FoofFighter · 27/06/2013 16:42

Exaclty, this is it, I am so tired so why can I not sleep I just don't get it?? Even if get my head down in the day I am lucky to get an hour or so, just feel hyped up on caffeine all the time. (am not!)

wavesandsmiles · 27/06/2013 16:45

Foof and others - I am also struggling to sleep. Absolutely shattered, but it takes me ages to get to sleep, then I wake up at silly-o-clock, then can't get back to sleep. I tried to get a rest this afternoon but couldn't manage.

It's so frustrating.

babyhmummy01 · 27/06/2013 16:53

foof that is exactly ny issue, its like I have been on hyper caffeinated coffee but I never touch the stuff evenwhen not pg. Finally drop.off between 1-2 and then wake up between 3-4 awak for an.hour and then doze off about 6 in time for dp to wake me when.he gets in grrr

Stiggley · 27/06/2013 16:59

Everyone - take my advice and get your bags packed. !

Mine was half packed and dh had to bring stuff in during my 2 day stay in hospital.

Feeling ok. 34 + 1. Now hoping to get to 35 weeks. Git check up tomorrow.

Still got nursery to decorate. Going to get some stickers. My mum is going to get some premmie clothes should I need it.

babyhmummy01 · 27/06/2013 18:32

stiggley my sensible side agrees whole heartedly that I should have it all sorted and ready to go...however, they huge bit of me that still thinks this is some horrifically cruel joke (inspite of being kicked to death and having hourly asthma attacks cos she is kicking up into my lungs) and that it isn't real stops me from doing it.

What sort of bag are people packing stuff into?? I keep looking at 'the list' and thinking Christ I am gonna look like I am going away for a month!

wavesandsmiles · 27/06/2013 21:04

babyh I have one bag for the baby which is pretty small. I can't contemplate the idea of taking a suitcase for me so I have a barrel bag from camping all packed up! Has towels, clothes, pads and all the other glamorous bits in it. It's all a bit scary isn't it.....

I'm in bed already now. Couldn't face sitting downstairs and being taunted by jobs that don't really need doing but pregnant brain deems critical, so going to attempt some sleep.

FoofFighter · 27/06/2013 21:22

The baby's stuff is in the changing bag, mine is in an overnight bag. Pretty much sorted, just need to decide what I might want to wear in labour and buy it.

OP posts:
babyhmummy01 · 27/06/2013 23:49

Baby's stuff is in change bag, just need to chuck a full pack of nappies in.

I have a small wheeled overnight case, would it be unreasonable to take that?

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 28/06/2013 00:43

Oh God, I feel really disorganised and out of control compared to some of you! I need a cot and mattress and to decide on a Moses basket / crib / little travel cot with the newborn bassinet bit for the first weeks.

We have no bath so a flexi bath tub that we can use for a good long while is a good idea. Also need a car seat and base and about a dozen different things!

My bag is not packed, and unlikely to be anytime soon. I seem to have a mental block. I leave work soon so am going to give myself a shake then and get on with things.

JollyShortGiant · 28/06/2013 08:29

I'm only 31+1 so a bit later than most of you. Hospital bag not packed but baby clothes are out of the attic. They need washed though.

We are off on holiday late tonight so will sort everything when we get back. Driving down to Oxford. About a 600 mile journey. Should be fun with PGP!

FoofFighter · 28/06/2013 08:41

Trench, we knew we would need a travel cot so decided to get that with a newborn insert bassinet thing in, we have a moses basket too, but that was donated, that will go in the lounge. The bassinet part should last till around 7-8 months or whenever baby starts to get up on it's knees, and then we will get cot bed. We bought this one www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9094134.htm#pdpFullProductInformation as it had the insert and a cot top changer all in, and for £50 - bargain! it's full sized too.

Hello everyone,

Well the aches and pains are really starting to kick in with me. Baby must have a hand or foot stretched out as I am getting sharp pains in my right hand side, just about my thigh.

Next midwife appointment is next week, it will be 6 weeks since I saw someone which just seems like a really long time. Baby was transverse the last time so I'm hoping it has moved to get into position.

I have washed all of DD white babygros and vests etc, got blankets all ready. Changing table is built, bottles bought, steriliser cleaned, formula bought, nappies bought. Carseat and base just need a Hoover.

We are getting a new carpet laid in baby's room in 2 weeks time so OH is going to give it a paint before then. Just need to get a set of drawers from ikea for clothes etc. we only recently moved in so still getting boxes unpacked.

I'm still trying to work out how to move baby and toddler at one time. I don't want to buy another pram, so will try out a buggy board for toddler and a sling for the baby. With my DD I got a really bad back so I'm wary of using a sling. Just don't know what is the best option.

I still have 4 weeks of work, and it cant come in quick enough. My team is down by 2 at the moment and I am picking up all of the work. At a time when I should be winding down, I seem to be working harder than ever. 5 toilet stops a night mean I am pretty tired, and I seem to be using the loo at work about 10 times a day!

I think I have settled on a girls name and boys name though! OH is the most indecisive person ever, so he won't make a choice until baby arrives!

My DD was a week early so I want to be completely prepared by 37 weeks just incase.

33&1

MrsPennyapple · 28/06/2013 11:20

Ok, I think I have got MY bag packed, but still not packed any of baby's stuff. I got out DD's newborn clothes to try and grab the neutral stuff out of there, but there isn't much as everyone knew we were having a girl last time. Most of that is second hand anyway, and a lot of it has seen better days. So I might just have to convince DH that we need to go and buy some :) We've really bought very little this time around, so I think we can splash out on a few new sleepsuits and vests.

Three weeks ago MIL said she'd have DD twice a week, instead of the usual once a week, as I get bigger and more tired. Since then she has had two weeks of not having her at all because she was too busy, and has now decided they need a holiday so they're buggering off for a week. Not sure if this is her idea of helping! I shouldn't moan, I know a lot of people don't have that break once a week.

She did say "just want to check nothing's going to happen while we're away, as we want to be here when baby is born?" As if I've got a clue when baby is going to decide to arrive? She knows the due date, so she has just as much idea as I have!

MrsPennyapple · 28/06/2013 11:21

Oh, 34+4 (holy crap, it's getting close now!)

Gonnabmummy · 28/06/2013 19:40

Been to boots today and they have maternity towels/pads on 3 for 2 :) also loads of travel sized shampoo conditioners and deos on 3 for 2 :)

Gonnabmummy · 28/06/2013 21:20

Anyone read about this third hand smoke? Just read a thread on it and did some googling. I totally believe in it cig smoke sticks to anything and it's awful was good to show DP who has stopped due to this pregnancy

babyhmummy01 · 28/06/2013 21:27

yeah, unfortunately my parents and sister smoke like chimneys and will be banned from smoking anywhere near the baby when she arrives and she certainly won't be getting in a car with them.

Mum is pretty good at cleaning the house with antibac wipes etc which reduces it but it clings to fabric etc. Unfortunately none of them will stop and I can't stop them going near her completely so will have to put up with it

Gonnabmummy · 29/06/2013 02:16

Had a mixed fruit non alcoholic kopparberg tonight was very nice!

Woodifer · 29/06/2013 10:05

Where did you buy it Gonna sounds nice!

Gonnabmummy · 29/06/2013 10:24

Asda and morrisons have them :) we got them in morrisons they were only £1 per bottle and taste just the same was nice to feel involved in the drinking again :) xx

RuckAndRoll · 29/06/2013 10:34

Tesco and sainsburys do them too! I love kopparberg.

dh and I were discussing the smoke issue last night as bil has 'given up' but we know he still does. been told to make sure he washes his hands and changes his top before newborn cuddles. washing hands we can just make everyone do (i'm neurotic anyway Smile ) but sil won't understand us wanting him to change as she still thinks he's given up.

33+6 and really scared now!

cakebaby · 29/06/2013 12:42

ruck same here. He's 'given up' 4 times & given in again. 'Secret' smoker for a bit (wtf - he stinks, I can smell it a mile off!) Now smoking at work, in car & outside at home when I'm not here. Says he's not ready to give up, he's an educated man but in total denial about health implications Confused

Problem is, it causes horrible atmosphere when I try to discuss it. At my booking in appt we had a very young MW who came across a bit dizzy, when I brought up 3rd hand smoke, she just said, 'oh yes it does smell awful and if cakebaby can smell it then the baby will too'. FFS, not the input I was looking for.

Think I'll just print off a load of stuff & leave it for him to chuck out read. Any other ideas?
