Babyh - the only thing to remember with nits, is to retreat exactly 7 days after the first treatment and comb through super thoroughly. We also use a nitty gritty comb fairly regularly, just as a preventative measure.

Glad you are seeing the docs soon - sounds uncomfortable! I'm in some serious pain in the rib area, but other than that feeling more positive, as I have finally managed to put on a kilogram Grin still battling the sickness, but so chuffed with the gain at long last.

babyhmummy01 · 15/06/2013 21:17

therein lies the issue waves its my DSD so no control whatsoever over what her mum is doing...I keep telling her but then DSD comes back 2 weeks later riddled in the little bastards again. I am at a complete loss. The poor kid is beside herself scratching and I am thoroughly pissed off with it all. I have told DP tonight that if his bloody exw doesn't start stepping up then I won't allow the kids anywhere hear the baby as I can't risk them giving them to her when she arrives as you can't use any of the treatment stuff on her. But how in gods name do I get the message over to mum? have taken a risk and posted in step forum too to see if anyone sensible can advise me.

DP thinks the pain is just ligaments etc with thigns getting bigger but its agony and paracetamol just isn't cutting it

chocolatesolveseverything · 15/06/2013 21:24

Welcome JRmumma Smile

Good for you with the weight gain Waves.

I've not got DH a fathers day card - as he never got me a mother's day one! But I'll be be making a beef chilli for tea - one of his favourites.

Briarrosy - Yes I'm one of the several on here too! I live in the same area as you. Are you by any chance in the Wednesday morning antenatal claseses in Bruntsfield that are running at the moment? It would be weird if we'd already met!

LilPeasMama · 15/06/2013 21:24

ruck yes I see what your saying I suppose people do stick them in the garage and that older models could degrade.

Gonnab
I got a mummy to be card from the bump on Mother's Day too, It was the nicest feeling in the world so I wanted DP to have that same feeling too!

I know that feeling all to well, my previous partners DC had nits for at least a year too and her mother never did anything either it was so frustrating!
I was told just to use conditioner and keep brushing through with a nit comb until they had all gone.

LilPeasMama · 15/06/2013 21:26

Whoops that last bit was to babyh

babyhmummy01 · 15/06/2013 21:30

lilpeas that is what her mum says she is has been doing but trust me when I say I took hundreds out of her hair today - there is no way at all that mum is doing it right from what I have seen. I would love to slap the woman silly til she sees what she is doing. Have told DP that we are taking her to the docs if mum doesn't start stepping up

Briarrosy · 15/06/2013 22:28

Chocolate haha yes I am! Only been to one so far though, the last one. See you there on Wednesday though!

RuckAndRoll · 15/06/2013 22:34

waves that's brilliant. hope it continues Smile

Briarrosy · 15/06/2013 22:37

Ruckandroll and Lilpeas - it's the most solid wodge of plastic and metal you've ever seen, there's no way that seat is going to spontaneously crumble, however badly it's been stored (it was from a posh newbuild though so no damp garages in sight). It also clicks in with the biggest 'kerchunk'. It's indestructible. I think there's a lot of fear of second hand car seats but I think a lot of it is fuelled by the industry, we're an easy target! There are so many folk with perfectly good car seats (which they can only use for 6 months per child) who just can't get rid of them, I guess just choose wisely when you do buy one and make sure it's not really old.

I even got the adapters for the pram on eBay. I'm so cheap ;)

chocolatesolveseverything · 15/06/2013 22:46

See you on Wed Briarrosy. Not sure if you want to go 'public' as it were, but if you do, I should be carrying my usual bright blue leather handbag. May or may not have DH with me.

RememberingMyPFEs · 16/06/2013 10:08

Welcome to all the newbies. Lovely that the thread is busier again... I haven't got DH a card from the bump - want to save it for next year!

I've bought loads on eBay to save cash but car seats are something I won't take the risk on for £100. I hope it's ok Lilpeas but I'd be very tempted to buy new for such a key piece of safety. Same with mattresses.

I should be heading off on a weeks hol with DH and mutt today but DH has put his back out so we're at home with me playing lumbering nursemaid Smile/Sad

babyhmummy01 · 16/06/2013 10:19

I bought my car seat second hand. Lady had only used it for a few weeks and was really upfront about everything. As long as your confident it hasn't been in am accident then I wouldn't worry too much.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 16/06/2013 12:40

Welcome JRMumma!

I don't have a problem with 2nd hand car seats that you know the history of, but personally would avoid one just incase there was a fault/product recall.

babyh, my sister went through a stage of having nits for about 2 years when she was a kid, whenever my mum thought she'd won the battle she'd pick them up again at school...no one else in the household ever had them during that time, so maybe DSD mum isn't aware how bad it is because she doesn't have them?

Remembering, hope DH's back starts behaving itself soon so he can start playing nursemaid to you Grin
I've not had it this time around but with DS I had really itchy/tender stretch marks...I would say being pg in summer would probably make it more irritable but we don't seem to have any sun atm!

Nothing 'bump' related for Fathers Day here, but DS has already done 4 poos today, so I assume that's his version of a present for DH. Hmm

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of the weekend!

gary both the kids have them everytime, I just don't think mum is actually combing it thru properly cos she tells me Friday that they are clear and Saturday they are riddled with live and and dead ones. It's just infuriating. I also think she isn't treating her boyfriend and his kids who they are with most days.

Think I am just gonna put it firmly but politely that its not acceptable. I have told dp I won't have kids nr the baby if it carries on which may sound evil but u can't treat them for it as a newborn.

Gonnabmummy · 16/06/2013 18:42

Went swimming this morning as I've just finished work for annual leave. I honestly thought it would be like floating on a cloud Blush it wasn't. The pool was a little busy so could only swim on my front and dodge people occasionally, it was lighter than normal but belly still dragged me down! It was just an extreme doggy paddling Sesh my arms were nackerd! Survived for a full hour so did well :) got a lady coming to decorate the nursery tomorrow can't wait :) x

Gonnabmummy · 16/06/2013 18:44

Oh and babbyH it's probably old fashioned but my mam always used diluted vinegar on us left on with hair up in a towel and washed thoroughly afterwards I only had nits about 3 times right through school. It always killed them right off and way cheaper x

MissHinky · 16/06/2013 18:45

Ditsy79 - Sorry for long delay in reply. Re, the GD, I've now been put on insulin to try and control my blood sugar. It's my fasting morning readings that are the problem - they are always over so I now have a long acting insulin to take at night to try and reduce my blood sugar levels in the morning and another type to take, if I'm over after a meal. It's been a fast learning curve!

LilPeasMama - Yeah, I got my hubby a Father-to-be card from bump - he absolutely loved it, lol

Now 30+2 and with pregnancy included diabetes, PGP, flare up of existing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which has been very painful and needing the loo every hour, I was then told in the week that after being head-down for ever, the baby has now turned breech!! Still plenty of time for it to turn again (hopefully!)

Ditsy79 · 16/06/2013 19:30

MissHinky - must be a bit of a pain to be on Insulin now, but at least it should help keep your glucose levels in the right range. So far, my bloods have been okay, but they are keeping a close eye on me.
My baby is also breech at the moment - with extended legs - on the scan it looked like it was sitting on a sunlounger or something! Fingers crossed that both our babies will turn around soon - there's still time.
32+5 and only 3 wks left at work :-)

wavesandsmiles · 16/06/2013 19:49

I have second hand everything, but barely use the car and will mostly be baby wearing, so not too worried. It's a step up from my DCs who had pretty much 5th hand everything Smile

I'm anxious about how Stbxh will be when the baby arrives so hoping to find someone to act as a go between to ensure I don't have extra stress on top of a newborn. I'm apparently high risk for PND due to past depression, the ongoing HG and situation with him, so do have lots of support already. Suffice to say he didn't get a card from the bump.

Scan on Friday, quite looking forward to seeing my baby again, and keeping fingers and toes crossed that he's done some good growing.

Waves I heard from the other lot that you had put on some weight. I just wanted to drop you a line of CONGRATULATIONS. It's been a long old journey, but at least there is a turn in the tide for you with gaining. Yay GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Hi to all other duebees. I can't decide if I'm nesting of I'm just bored! I've washed the front door and step and the patio doors. I didn't even do that before the wedding.

I have no idea about nits but I know you have to wash all bedding with fleas. Are they the same thing but different? Sooooo much to learn!!

No bump cards here. I forgot Blush

wavesandsmiles · 16/06/2013 20:46

Hi woofers Smile I am well chuffed. Might only be a kilo, but it is a HUGE thing for me. Finally, at nearly 34 weeks!

Nesting wise, I have suddenly found that oven-cleaning and weeding are priorities?! Also getting the urge to batch cook and freeze meals, so the nose clip will be coming out, and I'll set some time aside to focus on that this week hopefully. Lots of easy peasy stuff so there is less to do once the baby appears. Sounds like you are definitely nesting though woofers

Off to bed in a minute, and hoping for a better sleep tonight - baby is so active and has moved back up under my ribs so a bit ouchy.

MissHinky · 16/06/2013 21:54

Ditsy79 - It is a bit of a pain being on the insulin. At the moment it's trial and error trying to get my night time dosage right. However, the Diabetes team at the hospital are really on the ball so I feel very supported by them :)

The diet change is hard though as I do LOVE my carbs and all things sweet and naughty!!

MissHinky · 16/06/2013 21:57

When are people starting their maternity leave? I'm planning to finish at the end of July .. although that seems a tough ask at the moment!

babyhmummy01 · 16/06/2013 22:25

Well the nits talk with dp's exw went well...I swear if she'd rolled her eyes at me once more I might have slapped her. I was uber nice but firm, dp said he was proud of me lol. But she has been told again so fingers crossed!

I am still in absolute agony with my tummy, crawling upstairs on all 4's is not as easy as it sounds esp when desperate for a wee! And before anyone flames me I'm ringing the Dr first thing in the morning. I am telling myself its nothing and so far anxiety is in check but am going to demand ask that they check me over. Baby's heartbeat was strong and healthy at my mw appt last week so I am fairly sure she is ok, although she isn't moving quite as much but not sure if I am not feeling it cos am too focussed on the pain iyswim.

Tell me its nothing peeps before I panic! Xx

31 weeks today

babyhmummy01 · 16/06/2013 22:26
