Changing the subject slightly... I've been feeling really bruised around re bottom of my bump and DH kindly pointed out last night I have some stretch marks coming up. They're really tender. Is that normal?

Gingerbreadpixie · 13/06/2013 18:13

Ruckandroll - having had a look around I think the Graco Evo Travel Set is what we want - removable carry cot, car seat that attaches to chassis. Just got to see how heavy it is and how easily it folds up. Our car boot is pretty roomy but we need to check it'll fit. The Petite Star Kurvi Match looks like a more budget version of what we want and doesn't have a detachable carry cot but I am considering that one too as it seems to get decent reviews. The basket on that looks small though.

FoofFighter · 13/06/2013 20:01

If you like the Evo then the Oyster is pretty similar looks wise I reckon Gingerbread?

Remembering - yes the skin stretching can be sore, slap loads of moisturiser on :) I like cocoa butter I am astounded that I've not gotten any new ones yet, but OH bless him said oh look you have stretchmarks, I pointed out they were from before but just noticing them now, I always thought they were really obvious too, apparently not!

The oyster is amazing! My best mate has it and I have major pram envy! It is so light to push and lift in & out the car. I have the silver cross 3d and I love it but if money had been no object I would have swapped for the oyster.

Ladies I am in agony, everything aches, little miss has settled low and is putting huge pressure on my bladder and what I assume is my cervix. I also have a horrific pain on the left side of the bump which I am hoping is just constipation but even having 'been' (sorry for tmi) it still hurts...all the pg books say its fairly normal at this stage but should I be calling anyone or just see if it eases overnight? Triage here shuts st 830 and I really don't fancy a night in a&e!

Gingerbreadpixie · 13/06/2013 22:04

Will Google the Oyster now...

Briarrosy · 13/06/2013 22:43

Lilpeasmama - my bugaboo was £250 including an extra fabric set so pretty good price considering the price of the new ones. As I said it's immaculate. I've also got a 2nd hand car seat - lots of folk think that's awful but it's from a lovely family in my area who advertised it on gumtree. You can also take the fabric off and check it, but then again you're not going to get many mothers out there who've had a major crash with theirs who are happy to sell it on to a new mum. I got the seat and the isofix base for £60.

Chocolate, yep, I'm an Edinburgher, up at Brunstfield/Morningside. And you? Think there may be a few more on here!

muddybloodypuddles · 14/06/2013 10:22

mummyh - is the pain still there? If so go get yourself checked out to be safe
gingerbread - if it's any help my friend is T1 diabetic and has had 2 dc's now, they induced her at 38 weeks with both of them and did very careful monitoring near the end as her levels were all over the place, she had natural births with both of them. They had to monitor both for a while after of course and she took them for regular checks after and they're both fine (3.5yrs and 10mths now). I have also had the wc vaccine and all was fine (apart from sore arm as others have mentioned)
waves - how are you doing?

Well, having been quite mellow the last few weeks it appears the short temper is back :-/ - not as bad as 1st tri though and am trying really hard to hold it together (even when DS poos in his pants just before we're about to leave for nursery and I have to chuck him in the shower etc)

babyhmummy01 · 14/06/2013 10:38

muddy the pay. In my side has gone but the one right across the middle of the bump hasn't but I think that is just ligament pain cos only hurts when I bend or twist. Gonna see how it is today and call triage tonight if it doesn't ease. Have dsd thiss weekend as dp at work and Dss is on cub camp so hoping no horrors occur! Am resting lots today

RuckAndRoll · 14/06/2013 11:14

babyh definately take it easy and call if you're unsure.

muddy it's not my temper, it's the random crying that's starting to annoy me! I'm doing the Race for Life this weekend in memory of my Grandad who died a few weeks back, I just know I'll be in floods of tears by the end.

Briarrosy Just be careful with 2nd hand car seats as it's not just crashes, even with the best of intentions if it's not been stored properly the material can degrade, which you can't see. Just make sure you're 100% happy with it.

babyhmummy01 · 14/06/2013 12:11

ruck i will, so far it has eased, I think ny body is trying to remind me that I am 7 months now and not able to spend 2 hours chasing after the dog on the park as well as trying to do everything else.

Anyone else got major nesting urges but not the energy to go with them in order to actually do anything?

MrsPennyapple · 14/06/2013 13:28

babyh not nesting urges, but creative ones. I want to knit at least one jumper / cardi for the new baby, as well as finishing a hoodie I'm knitting for DD, and work on a dress I've just started sewing. Every evening I think "ooh, as soon as DD is in bed I'll be able to work on that" but then by the time she actually is in bed, I don't have the energy left. It's all I can do to stare at some shite on the TV (because lets face it, that's all there is on).

RememberingMyPFEs · 14/06/2013 14:40

Nesting like crazy here! First week of mat leave and my kitchen is sparkling and I paid a man to come do my oven - looks like new!! I want to do the cupboards but my sensible head is telling me to leave it. I need something left to do next month, right...

Bedroom clear out has completed and I have a big pile for the charity shop and a big pile for eBay.

Carpets have all been cleaned today and I'm about to attack the nursery which is full of bags of stuff for the LO and needs tidying/organising before any more stuff arrives.

I'm blummin knackered now Wink

JRmumma · 14/06/2013 15:29

Hello everyone, im a newbie on here, but due 26th August so just over 10 weeks to go and a first time mum.

Had a pretty smooth pregnancy so far (apart from being hospitalised with gastroenteritis at 19 weeks) but must admit that its starting to get tough now so thought I could do with some support from those in the same boat as me!

Gonnabmummy · 14/06/2013 16:13

Just started my annual leave today it takes me right up to the 30th July when mat leave begins so plenty time off before baby. Met up with a few of the girlies from work for what I assumed was lunch, they had a surprise shower awaiting me I am so happy I didn't expect anything, balloons, huge hamper and bags more. Really practical things to even down to huuge pads for me haa. Had a fantastic afternoon feel so lucky and surprised they kept it so quiet :)

babyhmummy01 · 14/06/2013 16:28

gonnabe I have been off sick since end of Feb so am going stir crazy with being bored and fed up of being home alone! I have resisted the urges to blitz the flat but now its time that I can 'nest' but I don't have the energy!

JR Welcome to the thread! 9 weeks left for me and it is gonna be the longest ever! I am at that point where nothing is comfy, I am so exhausted from not getting decent sleep at night which is making me very emotional and grumpy - poor DP is gonna need a sainthood by August!

Its just me and DSD this weekend as I have enrolled DSS in cubs and he is away with them on camp so am hoping that life will be a little easier without the 9 going on stroppy 13 year old! Sounds awful I know, and I love him dearly, he has me in stitches with some of his 'grown up responses' but crumbs the backchat and insolence is driving me demented! Luckily DP is not a Disney dad and although still finding his feet where 'parenting' is concerned (exw NEVER let him discipline as she doesn't believe in it - like not even saying No to them...WTAF??) he is starting to be firmer. Has caused a few issues with his Mum as she disagrees with us coming down hard on the kids bad behaviour but now she disagrees with sending them to bed at a reasonable hour. I ask that they start getting sorted for bed at 730 so they are in bed for 8 so that DP and I have time alone when they are here but his mum disagrees and thinks it is mean of us to put them to bed before 9 - baring in mind that at 7 & 9 even on a school night they stay up til 9/10 o'clock, who lets an infant school child stay up that late??? DSD text me at 930 last night - I ignored it as I don't agree with her being up that late but not my place to interfere when they are with their mum.

JRmumma · 14/06/2013 16:45

Thanks babyhmummy - hope you arent feeling too bad Smile

Sounds like this is the start of worse to come for me then! Im not feeling too bad, although am feeling uncomfortable more often in the last couple of weeks. Sleeping has been tough this week as having my wc vaccination means i have been unable to sleep on my left side since tuesday as my arm has been very sore and I dont find it comfy on my right. Think it might be OK for tonight though so fingers crossed the only thing that wakes me up is trips to the toilet!

Only 3 weeks left at work now, even though mentally I left a few weeks ago! I was starting to think that I was being lazy taking 7 weeks off before the birth but the way im feeling now im so glad that I am!

p.s. does anyone else feel completely unprepared for when baby makes an appearance? Both in terms of having everything ready, and that you'll know what to do? I freaked out the husband the other night by commenting how weird it was that as soon as the baby is born, it is ours to take care of and we are completely responsible for it at all times. After he reacted like that I realised that freaks me out quite a bit too!

babyhmummy01 · 14/06/2013 22:15

Don't let me scare you JR am just shattered after a week of naff all sleep. I am hoping that I will get a decent night tonight cos I am shattered!

On your feeling unprepared...I am still trying to get my head around the fact I am pregnant let alone the fact that she is about to put in an appearance. Haven't really thought that far ahead yet!

LilPeasMama · 15/06/2013 10:58

Briarrosy that is a really good price for a cam with extra fabrics too.
I'm off to look at a 2nd hand cam in excellent condition on Sunday and I will be saving myself a huge amount if I get it, I'm so excited I can't wait, I can't believe how looking for the right one has taken over my life for the last month Shock
My SIL has said she would buy the car seat but had considered a 2nd hand one and your right how many have actually been involved in an accident.
Ruck what do you mean not stored properly?

Hello JR

I really wanted to do aquanatal classes for some sort of exercise but all the running around I do at work I probably get more exercise done there.
I must be crazy but I can't wait to nest! 3weeks to go.....

DP and I are like, oh we can't wait for baby to be here, its going to be GREAT!
Grin I don't really think we have any idea!

LilPeasMama · 15/06/2013 11:02

Is everyone getting Father's Day cards from the bump?

Gonnabmummy · 15/06/2013 11:37

lilpeas I've got one it's our first so it's something along the lines of your first and last one in peace :)

LilPeasMama · 15/06/2013 12:25

Grin Grin Grin
My exact thoughts Gonnab

FoofFighter · 15/06/2013 12:50

ooh no. That would ruin the first proper one next year imo.

Gonnabmummy · 15/06/2013 14:27

I like to think of myself as a mummy now so think it's only fair he's daddy too x

RuckAndRoll · 15/06/2013 17:43

lilpeas if they have been stored, for example, in a garage which is damp and cold, the material that makes seat (not the fabric) can degrade. they also have a life span after which they aren't safe to use. just make sure you're 100% happy with its history. we have a second hand one that my neice came out of at Christmas so we know its history and trust it, however I wouldn't buy one from an unknown person.

no fathers day card here either. he got me flowers on mothers day so I've got him us a box of chocolates. but we do that sometimes for each other anyway.

hope everyone's.doing ok

babyhmummy01 · 15/06/2013 20:27

AnI have got DP a card cos he got me one on Mother's Day but more cos the DSC's wanted to know if baby was getting daddy a card.

Ok so I am relenting and am going to call the docs on Monday, the pains in my lower abdomen are getting worse, took me 5 mins to climb the stairs at my mum's tonight and getting off the sofa is a nightmare. I am fine walking about but sitting and bending is a nightmare.

DSD has got bloody nits again I only de-loused her 2 weeks ago when they were last here, I cannot believe that her mum is actually doing anything cos she was riddled - I mean to the point I noticed them crawling in her hair this morning and went straight to boots. Even the pharmacist was disgusted at the state. She was brill though, we have gone with chemical warfare again (which I am not supposed to go near with being pg but boys are crap at this sort of thing) and pharmacist has said if this doesn't clear it up then she needs taking to the doctors...DP's ex is getting a right royal serve from me DP tomorrow night cos I am pig sick of this!

Any of you existing parents got any wonder cures for them??? She has had them for almost a year and nothing is getting rid grrrrr...I have spent over an hour combing her through tonight and can safely say that she is virtually egg free again so if she comes back with them next time I am gonna scream!
