Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Ruggle I feel your pain with the yucky taste in my mouth all the time. I suddenly remembered something that helped with my first pregnancy - Polo mints. Have bought some and find them really helpful when feeling nauseous or just trying to get rid of that taste. Other than that, cheese & onion McCoys ridged crisps are suddenly very appealing, maybe because the strong taste overrides the yucky taste?

Hi Little Panda,
Welcome to the group! I didn't even know you were supposed to wear non wired bras in pregnancy I did through both of my previous pregnancies oops!

Ladybee · 26/06/2013 20:08

You can continue to wear under wired bras, you just need to make sure they are properly fitted. So if your boobs are expanding a lot then non- wires for a while might be a good idea until things settle down then get re-fitted for better support. BTW Anita do a fantastic soft-wired nursing bra - def recommend.

Shropshiremummy2b · 26/06/2013 20:35

Yay littlepandabear, welcome.

We 'weren't going to tell anyone until 12 weeks' but then went fog supper with my parents to celebrate husbands new job and luckily he was a bit merry and I sort of gestured towards my tummy and he said 'tell them'! Soooo glad I did because they were so excited x

Halfling · 26/06/2013 20:44

Please, can anyone tell me what happens in the first midwife appointment. Does she do an internal examination Blush

vix206 · 26/06/2013 21:38

Halfling - no!! Nothing like that, they just chat, take blood and blood pressure and usually weight.

rueyrichardson · 26/06/2013 22:25

Don't think I had any kind of internal inspection until 40 weeks, last time, TBH. I recall midwife appointments mostly involving fibbing about how much rest I was getting (none) and praying that the BP and urine were going to be OK. And by forty weeks even an internal seems like a fair swap for a baby Smile

Hi all! I'm new here - found out on Monday I am pregnant with DC1 - only came off the pill two months ago and got married two weeks ago so it's quite a shock it happened so fast! Went to dr today who said EDD is 17th Feb, which makes me a little over 6weeks I guess. I feel like I know nothing and am feeling quite inadequate- the doctor made me feel like an idiot for not knowing anything about folic acid, or for not having thought about which of two local hospitals I might want to use. Is there a good book anyone could recommend? Or should I just hang round here a bit longer and spend hours reading things?!

SamL88 · 26/06/2013 23:14

You poor thing! Commuting is just horrible at the moment for me too. Can you work for home or take a few days annual leave to get yourself rested?
I just keep guilty that I'm not enjoying this at all yet. DP is so happy and beaming but I just can't get over how life changing this is and how it's all down to me to get this precious thing into the world unscathed from my current appalling need of cup-a-soups and dry crackers!!

tiegysmum · 27/06/2013 07:16

Champagnebubble I'm the exact same, if I'm not being sick I'm feeling sick, had a particularly bad day yesterday and through the night was just horrendous... Had it now for just over 2 weeks pretty much constantly so going to get in touch with the dr today. Tried all the remedies people have suggested but none have worked I'm 8&5 today and just hoping it goes away... Sooner rather than later, have to keep reminding myself its all so worth it in the end :-) x

Shropshiremummy2b · 27/06/2013 07:17

Welcome AhoyMcoy! Congratulations!

I'm on exactly the same page as you, convinced my husband that it could take years to get pregnant and wham bam thank you mam it happened straight away! I started taking folic the day we decided just because I was overexcited really, and I only have one hospital to choose from!

I'm due 3 rd feb and after 6 positive tests I stl won't really believe it til my scan on the 24th, so the only reason I haven't bought a book is so as not to arrouse suspicion/jinx it!!

I have however downloaded 3 iPhone apps which I look at every day, it's very exciting to have my baby compared to various fruit and veg on a daily basis!

This week I'm a green olive, and with your dates you're a blueberry! Yay! X

Bearfrills · 27/06/2013 07:26

Welcome to all the new passengers :) February is going to be a busy month!

One of my co-workers is pregnant too and has started giving me fruit/veg updates. Hers is the size of a cabbage, mine is the size of a sweetpea.

Thingymajigs · 27/06/2013 07:58

Mine is a blueberry. Grin Infact, that shall be the baby's nickname, for this week at least. At the scan I realised I was ahhing over the yolk sac. It was bigger than the baby.
So sorry to everyone suffering with sickness. I have no idea how you cope, especially with work too. Hope it passes for you all soon.
Weighed myself this morning and I've put on 2 lbs already. Confused I think most of that is on my boobs. Time to invest in some supportive and comfy bras. Any suggestions?

Thisisfreakingmeout · 27/06/2013 08:09

What is the name of the fruit app?!

Shropshiremummy2b · 27/06/2013 08:32

What to expect pregnancy and babybump.

I have both, baby bump is really American so a bit irrelevant sometimes.

Annoyingly one says I'm a raspberry and the other an olive , but I'm always going to plump for the bigger one!

Halfling · 27/06/2013 08:44

Oh thanks for the information about the midwife appointment. I have mine today (at 5 weeks).

In my last pregnancy (overseas with private healthcare), I only ever dealt with obstetricians and gynecologists. And you could straightaway contact the specialist maternity hospitals.

So, I am a bit new to the ways of NHS. But if this means less unnecessary medical intervention, I am all for it.

jazzcat28 · 27/06/2013 09:52

Mine is a sweat pea too! Thanks for the app tip... another distraction for me at work

I am so tired. No sickness but drop dead tired ALL the time. Went to bed last night at 8pm and woke at 6am. Still walking around in a day dream at work. Not good when I need to be awake enough to drive 90 mins to work.

Also feeling tummy expanding (no bump yet) but had to drive home with trousers unbuttoned yesterday. Am wearing a wrap dress today which is bliss but feel like I have a tummy showing..

Cant wait for my midwife appt. No idea when it'll be but I'm guessing any time in the next 2-4 weeks.

bugsyburge · 27/06/2013 10:20

I am also soooo tired, I'm pretty sure I fell alseep was a couple of mins at my desk earlier.... I too was in bed by 8.30 & didn't wake up in the night.... I could quite happily have gone back to sleep when my alarm went off at 7.

eek I can't wait for ny midwife appt & then scan, if only to know my due date.... I am currently either 11weeks (lmp) or 8weeks (clearblue) but it's all a bit of a mystery

I feel I've got quite a bump going on, in reality I think I just look like I've eaten a really big dinner but it's quite exciting, I thought I'd struggle with the idea of an expanding figure but I'm embracing it at the mo Grin

EeyoreIsh · 27/06/2013 10:33

I woke up freaking this morning that something is wrong with the baby. is that just silly or totally normal? I think it's because my sickness was a bit better yesterday and my boobs a little less sore.

I've had to dig out some old clothes from when I was larger. It feels lovely to not have tight jeans on! I don't have a bump, and I've hardly been eating, but there's some definite bloating happening!

misskatamari · 27/06/2013 11:00

Hi everyone, I joined a few weeks ago but have been feeling so rubbish I haven't been near my laptop. Like many of you I'm feeling sick pretty much all the time. I feel like I have a constant hangover and get very tired. I've only been sick a few times (including the supermarket yesterday).

I'm a teacher and have told some people at work as I feel so wretched (including the head and my HoD - who has decided to give me all bottom sets next year as its "the right thing to do for the kids" as i'll be off after Christmas if all goes well). I've had to take a couple of days off already with sickness and am just counting the days until the summer holidays. I had no idea that early pregnancy makes you feel so so horrible! I just feel crap all the time and am fighting the urge to be sick - not a good combo when trying to teach a class of kids. I'm 7+5 today so am hoping things ease a bit soon but know it could be another month or so. Bleurgh!

It's reassuring to know so many of you are going through the same thing. We just need to be happy that feeling so rubbish is hopefully a sign that things are going well! xxx

SugarMiceInTheRain · 27/06/2013 11:12

Sympathy to those of you feeling sick. I am still ok touch wood but very tired and am MNing in bed whilst DC1 and DC2 at school. Got to save my energy for tonight. Am going into school to help in the afternoon. Eeyore it's normal. I am constantly freaking out, especially in the early weeks, though that may be partly due to my history of MC :-( Today I am worried because my boobs aren't sore so have convinced myself that hormone levels are dropping. Must. Stop. Obsessing.

laura0007 · 27/06/2013 11:22

I'm sat in the doctors waiting room waiting for my booking in appointment. Very nervous and petrified about the blood test! I normally pass out but I shall try and be braveConfused
