Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

I got mine a few years ago from eBay or amazon. I think Argos might do them too?

EBay is cheapest, I have this one (and totally forgot I had it until I read vix post!)

I got it when pregnant with DD after having a late mmc in the pregnancy before her, such a reassurance especially as I had an anterior placenta so didn't always feel strong movements (although it should never replace professional advice and reassurance).

vix206 · 25/06/2013 07:47

Yes that's the same as mine Smile

Ps in my experience midwives frown on using home dopplers. I think because of the worry that can happen if you can't find a heartbeat. My friend, who suffers from anxiety, wanted to borrow mine when she was pregnant and I didn't loan it to her for that reason Hmm

Thingymajigs · 25/06/2013 08:04

I know myself well enough to know that I would drive myself crazy with a doppler (anxiety issues too) so I won't get one although I'm very tempted.

bugsyburge · 25/06/2013 09:18

EUGH I've been feeling such for a couple of weeks but last night I had to pull up at the side of the road to be sick, not attractive..... I didn't realise until after I'd finished that it was a rather busy road with a lot of pedestrians on it Shock

SugarMiceInTheRain · 25/06/2013 09:21

As tempting as it is, I think I would get obsessive if I had a doppler at home so will just leave it to the MWs. I should have a couple of extra appointments due to being under consultant led care (2 previous C/S, 3 MCs, this one will be a C/S too).

I am so rubbish at keeping this pregnancy under wraps. Last night was our opening night of the show and I ended up blurting it out to all the cast in the dressing room at the end of the show Blush Went down to the theatre bar for a celebratory drink (diet coke in my case, which was a bad move at 10pm because I couldn't sleep for ages when I got home!)

bugsyburge · 25/06/2013 09:24

sick*

SugarMiceInTheRain · 25/06/2013 09:34

Sympathies bugsy. A couple of years ago I threw up in the middle of a busy commuter belt station at rush hour Blush oh the shame. I didn't even have pregnancy as an excuse - I'd just been to a theme park with my friend and evidently my body can't handle certain rides any more...!

Somanychanges · 25/06/2013 09:59

Oh no! At the vomiting in public. I remember those trips to work on the Tube wvery morning, feeling the sick rising (tmi) just praying to keep it at bay until I got out of the station. Once I was on a bus and felt it coming and ran off at the next stop. I had no time to get to a private place just projectile vomited which splashed up all over the feet of the people waiting on buses.

I think that was my most embarassing one. Also back then when I had my first 2 I was a skinny little thing and I definitely did not look like I could be pregnant. I used to worry people would just think I was a drunk or something. Now I am 3 sizes bigger I can just push out my tummy and hope to be forgiven :-)

I have has a few waves of nausea this morning but has subsided for now phew!

Sprite21 · 25/06/2013 10:00

bugsby how awful for you. I'm still feeling nauseous as well. Nearly threw up in a meeting with my line manager.
Sugarmice, it's hard not to tell isn't it? It's so exciting. I keep almost blurting it and then checking myself. I even drempt last night that I'd told my boss and she blabbed to everyone and my best friend was annoyed I hadn't told her yet. LOL.

Following Lynsey's question I checked my scan dates and realised that my scan is scheduled for next week when I will only be 9 weeks. For some reason my first booking in appointment with the midwife is scheduled for the same day, 20 minutes earlier. So I won't be able to get to both. Very annoying.
I think I am going to have to reschedule the scan but at this point they will probably only be able to offer me something much later and I was so looking forward to it.

Any thoughts? If I go I'll show up without a green book.

feekerry · 25/06/2013 10:22

Sick central here. I had hypermesis last time and ended up hospitalized twice. I can feel this going the same way so rang docs and got some meds.... We will see

Somanychanges · 25/06/2013 10:26

Feek- did you get cyclizine? How far along are you now?

blargl · 25/06/2013 11:16

Hi everyone - I feel like I can join in now! EDD is 25th Feb - but have been holding off joining the thread as I had an ectopic last november. Just had the early scan today and they saw a yolk sac which is fine for my dates (4+6) so I am out of the ectopic woods and getting excited! Haven't had any real symptoms yet - alternating between wishing they would start and feeling grateful they haven't!

TeaAddict235 · 25/06/2013 12:46

Hey ladies, I was away for about 2 weeks due to nightmare morning sickness. I couldn't do anything, seriously. Everything made me sick, from shower gels, to freshly washed clothes, to salad dressing, I've been knocked out in the corner of the sofa like a sick cat feeling sorry for itself. Even using the laptop or my phone made me feel sick. I know what you mean champagne, sick as a parrot. I had to take a week and a half off from work too. I hate being nauseous.

Been drinking sparkling water, eating mints, and generally craving chips and steaks (so not me, I'm basically vegetarian). And I'm only 7weeks today. It's nasty!

On the plus side, I found a lovely baby blanket while I was out in town, and picked it up. When I got to the till I was told that was it was half of the price of the half price sticker on it! Only paid 99p. Sorted!

How long does feeling sick last for?

EeyoreIsh · 25/06/2013 15:09

The sickness is never ending isn't it! I was doing ok today until just now and then pow. Sad I managed to work from home today but I gave to go into the office tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to the long commute.

Namechangingnorma · 25/06/2013 15:38

Hi ladies,
can totally sympathise with the morning sickness, I was veering between smugly thinking I wasn't going to get any and worrying about feeling too good. I am 6+4 today and as of yesterday it started with a vengeance. Have already thrown up at work 4 times today and am literally eating non-stop to try and keep it at bay, funnily enough the pasty I ate seems to have stayed down but not the bucketful of watermelon, I am going to get very fat indeed. Also spoke to mw today, despite 2 previous mmc she said no chance of an early scan unless I am bleeding etc, so thinking about booking a private one.

EeyoreIsh · 25/06/2013 16:10

nanechanging I had that last week.body does not like lots of fresh fruit, I think it's too acidic?

I'm thinking I should probably tell my boss this afternoon and ask to work from home for the rest of the week. I don't see how I can manage the commute. I'm 8 weeks today so I'm hoping things will start to improve soon....

littlestgirlguide · 25/06/2013 16:58

When does the placenta take over and we start to feel a bit better? Feeling tired, nauseous and generally a bit rubbish again today after spending the afternoon sat in a chair on the beach. I'm somewhere between 5weeks 4days (based in scan) and 7weeks 5 days (my dates) and hoping I feel better soon or it's going to spoil our holiday. Sigh.

Zazou1 · 25/06/2013 17:32

Hello everyone....bit late joining as haven't wanted to jinx things before now really, but have been reading bits of this thread over the past week or so. Think I am 8+2 based on LMP (28.4.13) and various DD calculators which say 6th feb.

Been feeling so ill these last few days and had to take time off work yest and today...feel guilty lying and saying I have a stomach bug! I HAVE to go in tomoz for various meetings but frankly cannot imagine how I'm going to get though work days feeling as I am Sad

We also haven't told anyone yet. Want to tell my parents first but my mums abroad until mid July and preferably want to tell them together and in person....seeing my 3 best friends this w/end and so don't know how I'm going to keep it in-arrrrgh!! Anyway looking forward to sharing this weird and wonderful (scary) time with you all Smile xx

Sassy20 · 25/06/2013 18:21

Welcome Zazou.

Well the all day long nausea has kicked in now. I'm 5+3 which is about the time it kicked in last time with my dd. Felt sick all day long but find eating pretty much constantly helps a bit!

Other than that just feeling tired.

I would say to anyone with bleeding try not to worry. I had bleeding throughout my last pregnancy from very early on and my dd is absolutely fine. It just happens sometimes apparently.

I haven't told anyone yet but will prob tell my parents this weekend when I see them and maybe a couple of close friends.

jazzcat28 · 25/06/2013 18:27

Welcome zazou!

I caved and told my supervisor today. He was great, actually said his 6th sense told him I was anyway! He's going to keep it quiet until I am happy to share it with our team and formally tell HR etc.

V tempted by those Doppler things but it could do my nerves more harm than good...

Marie2810 · 25/06/2013 18:39

Room for a little one? I'm probably due around 15th feb. This is my first pregnancy and hoping i get to that magic 12 week mark! Has anyone else's appetite completely gone? I keep going off so many foods!! Not much nausea though.

amicusapple · 25/06/2013 19:22

Hi Marie, welcome to the thread Grin.
My experience sounds similar, no real nausea just the that I don't really have an appetite and makes me feel a bit ill at the thought of eating. (But usually demolish whatever is put in front of me!)

Other than a some dizziness and sore boobs and that's been all for me. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow.
