Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Thanks. And congratulations! Has anyone else been thinking of names, things to buy etc yet? I should probably err on the side of caution but can't help window shopping cot beds and travel systems!

Tinkerbellefairy · 25/06/2013 20:27

barebranches I am also a teacher and fretting about when to tell school. According to lmp dates I'm 8weeks tomorrow but epu has dated me at 7+3. I have booking in appointment on 8th July and thanks to only day appointments think I'm going to have to tell head to get the time off. Also realised my 12week scan is likely to be first couple of weeks of hols so prob won't be able to tell staff as want to make sure all is well at scan first. That means they are not likely to know till I'm around 18weeks which will be a bit strange and I'm sure very obvious at first sight when I turn up with a bump!

gnittinggnome · 25/06/2013 20:33

Hi all, newbie and first timer here, clocking in around 8+1 weeks. Trying not to fret, because apart from a dollop of indigestion and needing to go up a bra size, I have zero symptoms! Both my sisters lost babies around 8 weeks a couple of years ago (within weeks of each other, very strange coincidence) so I am fighting the feeling that it's my turn now...

But! Trying to be rational and positive and thankful that little bean isn't making my life miserable with sickness or headaches, and looking forward to my booking appointment, which will happen in three weeks. This feels really late to me, I'll be coming up on 12 weeks by then, but that's the date I've been given, so I'm doing everything I ought to be doing and hoping for the best. Eeek!

gnittinggnome · 25/06/2013 20:35

Champagnebubble god that sounds awful - I can barely cope with the tube as it is! Can you try to muscle up to the carriage doors, and open the windows a little bit? Would some "fresh" air help with the nausea? Or one of those little fans with batteries? You are a braver woman than I.

TeaAddict235 · 25/06/2013 20:45

gnittinggnome you're not on the picadilly line are you? It's like packed sardines on that line.

marie i've been comparing prices online of things sometimes, and looking out for bargains in town. Not too much though. Exciting isn't it?

gofourthand · 25/06/2013 20:49

Hi everyone. Congratulations and welcome to.our new members.

I am still persevering with the bean diet. 6+2 today and no nausea yet.

I relate to everyone talking about anxieties and have very anxious moments. Mine are mostly about how to cope with 4 under 5 year olds.

I have nothing i need to buy unless possibly i have a girl, but am going to try to get stuff second hand where possible. :)

My surgery has run out of booking forms so i am jealous of those of you with booking and scan dates!

Sassy20 · 25/06/2013 20:59

How comes some people have got scan dates before they've seen the midwife for booking in? I've got my midwife appt at 10 weeks but as far as I know she then books me in for 12 week scan. Does it work differently in other areas? X

DawnOfTheDee · 25/06/2013 21:08

Urgh. I've felt sick as a dog all day....not acutally vommed although at one low point i stuck my head over the toilet for a while and drooled attractively. The tiredness has hit my like a hitty thing too. Though I was tired before but this is ridiculous!

According to early scan I'm about 8+5. Haven't felt sick up until now. I thought I'd got away with it. Boo.

Ah. Feel better for that mini rant. Anyhoo, welcome to the newbies.....it'd good to have you aboard!

lucidlady · 25/06/2013 21:10

Hi Sassy, in my area (South London) you have to see the GP first, who sends off for the scan. I saw my GP at 4 weeks and have my midwife booking in appointment at 10 weeks. My scan date came through yesterday - 3 August.

Sassy20 · 25/06/2013 21:16

Thanks Lucidlady. I saw my GP but he didn't mention booking a scan just booking my 10 week midwife appt which seems daft really as that means when I see her there'll only be two weeks till I'm supposed to have my scan and all the appts will prob be booked up! X

Somanychanges · 25/06/2013 21:23

Marie- yes I have, not clothes or anything but started to look at prams. I am going to get one second hand from EBay as this is my 3rd child so not really fussed about new stuff. Will prob go for the Icandy Cherry, but it does feel too early to be thinking about this stuff.

I also have a name for a girl that I am set on but my husband hates it :-( he has come up with this ludicrous idea that our children should name the baby. I don't think so it would probably end up being named 'poo poo head'.

littlestgirlguide · 25/06/2013 22:04

If my DD chose the baby's name it would be called Ariel or Tiana or Jasmine or whichever her favourite princess is that day... Girl or boy!
I have also been looking at prams on eBay. I quite fancy a maxi cosi mura, but there's nowhere within 100 miles that stocks them and I would prefer to actually see one before buying one! Stupidly sold my Quinny 2 weeks before getting BFP!

sunflowered · 25/06/2013 22:17

My dh and his brother chose their 8 years younger brother's (very sensible) middle names. Dh says one of his biggest regrets is not taking full advantage of the opportunity to saddle him with something entertaining!

pettyprudence · 25/06/2013 22:29

I chose my dsis name but my dm came to her senses by the time dbro came along Grin. If I were to let ds name the baby it would be "dragon". Could work Hmm

Not much shopping opportunities for dc2 - I will be reusing my bugaboo bee with a buggy board and investing in a good sling so I can swap them about. Maybe an additional cot if I haven't moved ds out of the cotbed. Need a new maxicosi car seat and isofix base but I think my friend has one she can pass on. I will mostly be looking for hand-me-downs for dc2 (except mattress)

Still no symptoms but still early days - long may it last!

Hey TeaAddict nope, fortunately I don't have to commute atm, am aiming to set up internet business so that it runs itself when bean gets here and I can just pass off the postage to a friend for 6 months or so. I have no idea if this will actually work as this is #1, but it sounds good on paper! Sometimes I'll book stuff for normal work hours and have to share the commute, and stand there muttering "thank the spheres I don't do this every day"...
Dawn... sorry to hear you're getting the sickness now! You're about the same progress as I am - maybe my anxiety over no symptoms will shortly be over.

laura0007 · 25/06/2013 22:36

I have my booking in appointment on Thursday when I will be 8+4 and then my first scan is booked for the 11th July when I will be 10+4. I wasn't expecting my scan that soon as I'm not sure they'll be able to properly date me but you never know I may be able to get an extra scan out of them! I got a letter from the hospital with my scan date before I've even seen my midwife so it obviously happens separately in my area (east mids)

pettyprudence · 25/06/2013 22:53

I still haven't got round to registering with a GP, let alone arranging a booking in appt with MW but its on my to do list next week!

laura I'm in Cardiff and me and my friends all had our scans between 9-11 weeks when we had our first dc- for my bff both her scans were at about 9+4. No special reason, she was just booked in then.

AFAIK its my mw at my booking in appt who will call the hospital to book my scan. Although there is a good chance they have changed the system here again!

gofourthand · 26/06/2013 06:05

Pettyprudence I'm in Cardiff too! waves

vix206 · 26/06/2013 07:17

I asked DS just now what we should call the baby if its a boy and he said George. I love the name but DH has v bad memories of a George so no chance. I asked DS, what if its a little sister? But he said 'No mummy, it's a boy!!'

barebranches tinkerbellefairy I'm also a teacher - had to tell my HR this early on as had some time off and they are SO nosy at my place and want to know EXACTLY what is wrong, even if you're off for a day! I know what you mean about not telling people before summer - we'll be going back with bumps in sep!

Ing DP and I have been looking at the maxi-cosi streety - anyone know if any good? This is DC1 so have to buy everything new! Was also considering the Graco Evo.

Somanychanges · 26/06/2013 07:37

My son is adamant I am having a boy as well. But I am praying for a girl, I have all the clothes for a girl and I always wanted 2 girls and a boy. But obviously I will just be happy with a healthy baby.

pettyprudence · 26/06/2013 07:45

woohoo gofourth - I never meet any 'differs outside of Welsh threads Grin

pettyprudence · 26/06/2013 07:55

somanychanges my dm has asked me to make it a girl this time as although ds loves her, since day 3 he has been grandpa's boy and completely ignores my mum if my dad is around. or any other male actually. shes hoping a girl will love her Grin not quite sure how that works Grin
I would like a girl purely because I don't have any boys named lined up. I might find out the sex this time just so I know how much to focus on names! I didn't find out last time, for many reasons, but Inc not giving my in laws the opportunity to buy EVERYTHING pink if I was having a girl. seriously. when dsil had a boy she had everything blue then bought everything (inc pushchair, bottles, blankets, play mats, bouncy chair, cot) in hot pink Shock now I do like hot pink and lots if other pinks but just not head to toe and all accessories.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 26/06/2013 08:45

I am starting to have irrational thoughts that there are 2 beans in there. The bump seems more bump shaped than I expected at 8+1, it's quite solid and it is in my genes. I wish I had a scan date to focus my brain & make sure all is well with a single solitary bean!
(Obviously if there are two healthy happy ones in there that is a blessing- just a terrifying one!)
