mother that still sounds odd. It was clearly a scam? They pretended to be selling you a car, even though they clearly knew this was not the case? Sounds like fraud to me -

Agreed Hazle that definitely sounds like a scam to me. If you bought it from a website like ebay, then there is a contract. If the contract is unfulfilled, then surely that is fraud?

And if I was in a quad room, I agree I woudln't want someone's partner in all night - but for half an hour, two hours after she'd given birth? There'll be lots of faffing about and settling in anyway, why not at least let him be involved, too. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me - especially if it's her first baby. I don't see how anyone would begrudge that (if everyone had the same rules).

Must be hard on dads too.

MotherOfCleo · 05/06/2013 16:22

I agree, thing is the emails sent to us were masquerading as ebay when in fact that was a big part of the scam intended to make us trust them, it even linked to a fake ebay webpage detailing how the transaction would work. These conmen were pros! As such ebay wont cover it and the banks fraud department isnt interested as we gave the money, rather than it being taken without us knowing. Basically neither of them care and the police said they have never known anyone get their money back before. Sad and frustrating but we dont have much option but to move on.

I think when I have my newborn in my arms I'll be more concerned with that, than whether my neighbours hubby is their. Unless he is a pain in the butt, then Id want him gone. Hmm It must be a blur those first few hours, seems unfair not to let the dads be their to help.

Cavort · 05/06/2013 16:29

Mother I know bugger all about legal stuff but couldn't you bring a civil case against them? If you have their bank detail I assume they are traceable? I feel really Angry for you. Flowers

Purplemonster · 05/06/2013 18:48

In a bid I bring some much needed cheer and good news, I'm wondering if the little monster has turned head down today, not certain but i've a positive feeling in my pelvis bones.

MotherOfCleo · 05/06/2013 19:34

Thats a thought Cavort, I may ask the police if thats an option.

Yay Purple, fingers crossed!

Cavort · 05/06/2013 19:35

That will certainly be good news if she has Purple. FX Smile

My lightweight DH has indulged in 2 glasses of wine with dinner and is now trying to wire up two new light fittings in the hall and landing. My baby could be an orphan before she is born at this rate.

HazleNutt · 05/06/2013 21:38

Oh, remember my diabetes worry a month ago? Forgot to report that everything is fine, no GD, no more sugar in the sample either. So if you have the same issue, don't panic.

Fabulous news Hazle!

Quodlibet · 05/06/2013 23:08

Great news Hazle!

So, wise Elderberries, DP and I are looking at booking a holiday in September when I will be 26 weeks or so. How intrepid can I expect to be at that stage? We are probably not looking at long-haul, more likely the less-visited Greek islands...What do I need to bear in mind?

Cavort · 06/06/2013 00:05

Quod I went to Spain at 29 weeks and was absolutely fine. I just did the obvious stuff like drink plenty of water, etc. I did swell up on the flight though so flight socks are a must even for short haul. And you will probably need to wear a higher factor than normal as pregnant skin is more sensitive. Other than that I think the second trimester is a great time to go. Smile

Good news Hazle. I knew there couldn't possibly be a chink in your Superwoman armour. Wink

Alexandra6 · 06/06/2013 08:15

Hello! Sorry haven't been on lately, I've been a bit of a nervous wreck between cervix stuff and a UTI so have avoided coming on and moaning so I don't do all of your heads in!

mother sorry you got scammed, the bastards! How can they live with themselves preying on vulnerable people about to start a family?! Gutted you can't get legal help on it.

frog glad your scan went well! I know exactly when I conceived and my 8 week dates matched but by my 12 week scan the dates put me forward by a few days so either it's hard to get that accurate in the scan or I'm growing a hefty baby!

Thanks for the birth plan ideas, yes to post birth beer (weirdly the drink I'm missing most!) and no to placenta smoothies. I've only really thought about skin to skin ASAP after, would like a water birth but doubt I'll get it, feeling pretty flexible on everything else.

DH has invited me to an event on Sunday with him, through work, it's a lunch down in the Cotswolds which will apparently be attended by some supermodels and celebs. Just what I want when I'm fat pregnant, can't fit into my nice dresses and can't drink!

Cavort · 06/06/2013 08:48

You won't do our heads in moaning Alex, that's what we're here for.

Lunch in The Cotswolds sounds lovely, but with supermodels and celebs while upduffed? Yeah, I'm not convinced that is the best idea for boosting self-confidence when not pg let alone while involuntarily looking like a pie-eating champion. Smile

Frogcatcher · 06/06/2013 08:59

Thanks Alex yes I know the conception date too which was why it was a bit concerning to be bigger than normal already! Lets see what happens at 12 weeks. If I was going to your lunch I'd be tempted to wear a baby on board badge to prove I'm not just fat!

Frogcatcher · 06/06/2013 09:05

Oh & I've sent my work scurrying to consult HR by telling them I'm pg & will be at a financial disadvantage with the offer they have made me Grin. Ha! Expect to get a revised one soon.

Quite looking fwd to being a lady of leisure for a bit! We've just booked a holiday to Portugal for 6 wks time with SS & a friend of ours & her daughters which I'm really looking fwd to. Also waiting to see if our offer on a house will be accepted so then that's going to keep me busy.

MotherOfCleo · 06/06/2013 09:12

Alex moan away, thats what we are here for.

I agree re the supermodels, Im still at the looking fat rather than pregnant stage and am not enjoying it. I do look like a champion pie eater Smile Im 18 weeks, please tell me I'll get a bump soon. Blush

MotherOfCleo · 06/06/2013 09:13

Oh nice work frog, we are going to tunisia in 5 weeks, cannot wait Grin

Fingers crossed re the house, exciting!!!! Grin

HazleNutt · 06/06/2013 09:15

you'll get a bump soon mother and don't be surprised if it happens pretty much overnight.

OP posts:
Cavort · 06/06/2013 10:15

Despite only having a cup of tea so far today, I have just had an unexpected and very vocal puking episode in the downstairs loo.... with our Painter and Decorator up his ladder right outside the door. Blush I didn't have time to get upstairs. Sometimes I really can not wait for this to be over!

I am very Envy of these holidays. In 5/6 weeks time while you are sunning yourselves we will have a newborn DD and will probably be able to see our eyebags from outer space. Grin

Good work re your employers Frog. Hopefully they are bricking it now and will come back with a big fat offer for you. And FX for the house offer, how exciting.

Mother my bump certainly just 'popped' practically overnight. Frustratingly, this wasn't until about 26 weeks for me but everyone is different and most women show sooner.

HazleNutt · 06/06/2013 10:43

cavort could be nothing, but you know that this is often the first sign that you're about to go into labour?

OP posts:
Cavort · 06/06/2013 10:53

That's a scary thought Hazle! I'm certainly hoping it won't be any earlier than next week as want to get the decorating finished. I did have a few tummy twinges while being sick but I thought that was because I was clenching my pelvic floor to prevent accidental peeing but nothing since.

BraveLilBear · 06/06/2013 11:55

Yuk to vomming but yay to avoiding pelvic floor catastrophe! I keep getting occasional feelings of pressure on the pelvic floor which I think may be due to damn heavy baby pushing down on the occasions that it behaves and goes vertical, or just the weight of the water.

Hi Alex don't stay away, we all moan about allsorts (me especially) it's what we're here for. Hope UTI is clearing up and the cervix thing is looking a little less daunting.

Mother my bump was noticeable if you knew to look for it from about 19-20 weeks, but suddenly popped one afternoon at about 21 and a half weeks!

As for me, I seem to have put about 2 kilos on in a week Sad I'm actually eating less, though possibly burning fewer calories due to bussing rather than walking. Bit panicky that I'm staring stretchmarks and a fat face square in the eyes... Shock

Alexandra6 · 06/06/2013 12:10

Thanks bear. And how funny, I have a bump already, it's been there a few weeks and I'm only 15 weeks now! Wonder if it's swelling (maybe from the UTI?) or a combination of me being miss piggy and not really exercising? The stupid hospital took 3 weeks to get an "urgent" letter to me about the UTI with an antibiotic prescription. I thought it might have cleared up in that time so asked them to retest me on Tues and fingers crossed they will know tomorrow if I still have it and need the AB's. I'm hoping it's gone on its own. Would prefer not taking AB's but def will if it's still there, just a bit worried about how long I might have had it, hopefully it can't do baby any harm.

cavort good pelvic floor save and poor you with the vomming. Eek to potential labour signs!

Oh meant to say to purple, it's good little monster sounds like it's getting into position Smile

Purplemonster · 06/06/2013 12:44

You do realise Cavort that if you don't update now virtually every 10 minutes we're all going to fly into wild speculations that you're in labour Wink

Cavort · 06/06/2013 12:53

Definitely not in labour at the moment. Unless I have one of these rare birth where it all happens in 20 minutes, I will bore you all to death let you all know at the first sign of labour.
