Oh Dutchy, so sorry. Rest up, indulge in previously forbidden treats and take good care. Pleased your boss is understanding, don't feel bad about taking time to recover. Big hug xx

Holly1977 · 08/05/2013 09:53

So sorry to hear your news Dutchy, big hugs. Gorge yourself on forbidden pleasures and take all the time you need off work xx

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today. I thought the usual hay fever had arrived but I'm thinking it's more likely to be a cold now. A friend who I spent Saturday with has it and df says he's feeling bunged up and crap. So cold it is, bollocks! I was awake for ages in the night so bunged up even mouth breathing was a challenge. I ended up having 2 wee squirts of Sudafed otherwise there's no way I'd have got any sleep at all. Spoke to colleague this morning and he says it's no biggie. Not ideal and not to do it every night but not to worry about it either. So I'm not looking forward to the next few days at all. Normally I just power through colds by taking shed loads of day and night nurse tablets but obviously I can't do that now. Paracetamol, olbas oil and the trusty old neti pot are all I'm allowed really. It's just really annoying and I'm getting really irritable and pissed off now. My nose is just streaming, reckon I've blown it (no exaggeration) about 50 times already this morning and am counting my sneezes, up to 8 in the past 5 minutes already! Sorry for the moan, it's just so fucking annoying!!!

Olive2012 · 08/05/2013 09:56

Also really sorry to hear that dutchy. Please look after yourself and treat yourself to all the things you enjoy xx

Olive2012 · 08/05/2013 10:16

That's rubbish holly. There is a natural remedy you can try which some of my pregnant friends have used : 1 teaspoon ground turmeric in warm milk with honey. Probably not as fast working as lemsip but hopefully helpful ;)

I am also contemplating the harmony test but I spoke to my GP about it and she said she would stick to the normal NHS tests as DNA tests (like harmony) can show up abnormalities which may not be noticeable or which can be treated in the womb. I was quite positive about it before but this concerned me - did anyone else's GP say this? Also for those ladies having harmony tests, will you also get the NHS scans done? I think I would probably get both as don't want to "fall out" of the system somehow!!

Holly1977 · 08/05/2013 10:27

Thanks Olive but I can't drink milk, lactose intolerant! Do you think soy milk would work? I do quite like honey with lemon and ginger tea, might give that a go. Just a shame I can't put a big slug of whisky in it!!!

Ganetgob · 08/05/2013 11:19

Really sorry to hear your news dutchy. I hope you are doing lots of relaxing and resting and best of luck to you in the future :)

Sorry to hear that you are feeling rubbish, holly. It's bad enough with lots of tablets! I don't really have any advice. Just keep telling yourself that by this time next week it will have buggered off!

I had my scan last night, was great. All is as it should be, we heard the heartbeat and it was very exciting. I have my booking in appointment today. I'm looking forward to it, just hope I can answer all the questions I'm asked!

Hope everyone is ok today and that symptoms aren't too bad!

Iris1 · 08/05/2013 11:24

So sorry to all those with bad news and those with worries :(

I went to EPU yesterday as id been cramping and after miscarrying 9 weeks ago I'm not taking any chances. They said they didnt think I could be more than 4 weeks (I knew they were wrong but hey ho!) So they did my bloods - well they came back very high so im off for a scan today. So relieved just want to know whats going on, did I even miscarry? Was it disapearing twin? And above all is baby ok.

To those talking about asd my eldest has aspergers and my youngest is neuro typical. It hasnt put me off extending my family because I think the odds are in our favour, another sibling would benefit both my children, and if we come across asd again we can handle it. My son is quite high functioning but struggles terribly with structured sitiations, social situations and sensory processing - we have made the decision to home educate him and haven't looked back.

Holly1977 · 08/05/2013 12:10

Good advice Ganetgob, "this too will pass" is my favourite saying. I need to take my own advice sometimes! I should buy shares in Kleenex, it's soooo annoying! Great news on your scan :-)

QueenofWhispers · 08/05/2013 12:55

I'm sorry to hear of your loss Dutchy hugs and comfort to you. x

b0nker5Mum · 08/05/2013 12:55

So sorry to hear that dutchy, I wish you well in the future and take care...

Daisy I feel like I am not having many symptoms, although I do feel nauseous and boobs still hurt... Apart from that nothing...

Had booking in appt yest, which was ok, the midwife seems lovely but didn't really ask about the progress of the pregnancy or symptoms.... She didn't even want to look at my scan pics!

They advised that I should think about a home birth as my previous labour (16 years ago!!!) was very quick! Eeek!

I have also a lot of (tmi) leaking down there, I wonder if its my pelvic floors not working or cm! Anyone else got this?

Iris best of luck with the scan...

weechops · 08/05/2013 12:59

Dutchy so sorry to hear your news :(

I'm now onto day 4 of diarrea! It's torture. Ds bug cleared up fine but obviously passed the shits to me! I've been drinking water and lucozade sport and can only manage to eat toast. It wouldn't affect the baby though would it? Hate being ill.

Featherbag · 08/05/2013 13:45

So sorry Dutchy, take care x

StyleManual · 08/05/2013 13:58

Sorry to hear your sad news Dutchy. Hope you're taking it easy and being looked after xx

violetbean · 08/05/2013 14:02

Dutchy, so sorry, thinking of you. Sad Thanks

Holly, hope cold clears up soon. Take it easy if you can. Be kind to yourself!

I've been feeling very odd today. Completely lethargic and just... well... sad. Can't face doing any of the stuff I wrote on my 'must do asap' list!

Am going to eat some lunch and then force myself to do one thing on the list. Then maybe reward myself with a treat...

Hi to all you lovely people out there, so nice to be able to share stuff with someone rather than feeling so alone.

Holly1977 · 08/05/2013 14:04

I don't really have many symptoms either other than sore boobs and being slightly more hungry than normal. The mood swings have settled down as has the constipation. I am getting noticeably more discharge than normal though. Nothing too gross or indicative of an infection, just normal pregnancy stuff apparently.

Weechops, apparently you can take small amounts of codeine safely in pg if you've got very bad diarrhoea. It's not as effective as Loperamide but should slow things down a bit and give you some respite. I think the only effect on the baby could be if you get dehydrated. Yoghurts or yoghurt drinks with friendly bacteria are good to help you replace the gut flora that can be lost with long bouts of diarrhoea. I'm new to pregnancy but not to bum problems! ;-)

weechops · 08/05/2013 14:12

Holly that's really helpful, thank you :)

kyz1981 · 08/05/2013 14:59

Really sad to read your post Dutchy I'm thinking of you x

2Labradors · 08/05/2013 18:21

dutchy I'm so sorry to hear your news

readyornot2011 · 08/05/2013 18:51

Duchy, so sorry, be kind to yourself. You sound very strong in your post.

Violet, I think I know how you feel, some days I seem to waste the whole day just sitting feeling crap desperately willing myself to get even the slightest thing done. That's so not like me usually, I can be a whirlwind of efficiency when required. Didn't feel like this last time.

Any tips on neutralising smells. We have a big open plan kitchen/dining/living room which I love. However it is a nightmare since I became pregnant, my nose could detect a fart from 60m at the moment, the cooking smells and soot from the chimney when it rains make me feel dreadful. Last night I burned about 6 matches before bed which helped. Don't want something that will mask the smell with another sickly one just want the smells GONE argh!!!! Rant over Blush

mumoftwoboysS · 08/05/2013 22:26

Holly sorry just read advice re a drink with tumeric above- be careful, I read (when looking up why parsley should be avoided during pregnancy) that tumeric is also on the avoid list as it is a uterine stimulant (i.e. could potentially cause miscarriage) I'm sure it'd need to be a really high dose but just fyi. I was surprised that parsley is a no no as people don't really link it with those other dangerous things like smoking etc.

mumoftwoboysS · 08/05/2013 22:31

So sorry to hear Dutchy - only just read back far enough to read your post.

musiceverywhere · 08/05/2013 23:23

Dutchy- so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself, don?t think twice about work, I?m sure your colleagues will/would understand (depending if you?ve told anyone). Just do what you need to do and work will cope without you for a while. Hugs. (enjoy the pate and sushi) Flowers
Michellephant- thank you for being so honest (and informative). I think no one can really say what they would do in that situation until they find themselves there. Again I?m sorry for all you?ve been through and send you all the best wishes/hugs/positive vibes for this pregnancy
Violetbean- thanks for the drinks suggestions, I LOVE mojitos, so may be trying the virgin one. Am currently trying elderflower cordial and soda water, can?t stand J20 and too much pure fruit juice can?t be good for anyones tummy!
Daisy- my ?symptoms? come and go a lot. Some days quite nauseous, then nothing. I think it varies so much for everyone. It?s so hard when its #1 isn?t it, you don?t know what you should be feeling.
Feather- sorry about the job. Obviously your perfect job is still out there waiting for you. Only one life changing event at a time maybe!? Glad your colleagues were pleased, hope DS has let you get some rest.
MildredH- great news on scan, hope you?re feeling a bit calmer after your train stress.
Glad scan went well ganet
Weechops If you?re still only managing to keep toast ?in?, I would speak to GP. It isn?t good for you or baby to get dehydrated. Lucozade won?t replace what you?re losing in diarrhoea, need something like Dioralyte, but would chat to GP first. If it?s a tummy bug (rather than IBS) then I also wouldn?t take codeine to slow it down. Those bugs should be self-limiting, in that the bug is passed out of the system eventually and codeine might interfere with that. Hope you get some relief soon!
Hello to all newcomers!
Things not too bad here, STILL spotting. Checking post everyday for hospital appointment and starting to get daymares about surgery. Need more information! On the plus side I now have new toilet installed upstairs so no more 3am trips to downstairs loo. Still no shower though....
