Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
QueenofWhispers · 04/05/2013 19:02

Hi guys,

as far as the harmony test, I was going to have one (yes, I do live in London, but I think you can have them done most places).

However, as I'm looking for something specific I've been told to just wait and do the CVS--not exactly sure why.

I am having terrible anger problems...I don't recognise myself.

Today I went to lunch with friends from out of town and we decided we would go out for Indian food. When I got to the restaurant I specifically asked if it was 'true indian food' or if it was the fake british fusion stuff they make for the general public. I was assured twice by management it was only Indian...so Imagine my disappointment when the dish I asked for came to my table soupy and full of sugar. I could have blown a gasket. (I never care about food this much, I really don't)--what's worse is I demanded to speak to the 'chef' to ask him why what I was looking at was being called the dish I had ordered.

oh, the anger...why is it here?

QueenofWhispers · 04/05/2013 19:03

And the reason I know indian food is because I am actually Indian. You cannot lie to an indian woman about indian food. We can smell the lie 600 yards away. Why I gave them the benefit of the doubtI will never ever know. AHHHHHHH

weechops · 04/05/2013 19:20

Can I have a wee grumble? Told the children last night that mummy has a baby in her tummy and they were so excited, especially dd.

So we said she could tell papa today when we saw him (dh dad) He was really happy which was lovely and gave me a hug, asked loads of questions etc but then my bil turned up with his 2 boys (dh brother) Dd told him and all he managed was 'well done' and nothing else.

I may have mentioned before that bil and his wife announced their pregnancy at 3 weeks only a couple of weeks after my mc in January. Then I was made out the bad guy when I said I may find it hard to talk about it with her for a while. I apparently ruined her good news with my disappointment!

So now I haven't had so much as a text from sil and I don't actually know why I feel so bad about it. Maybe she thinks I'm stealing her thunder of something? Ah I don't know. I've been so nice to her, always asking after her etc. maybe it's just my hormones :)

Thanks for letting me moan, I know it's petty :)

mumoftwoboysS · 04/05/2013 19:43

TakingTheStairs interesting about the dairy- I don't actually have proper milk due to feeling bloated/nausea when not pregnant and have a mix of rice milk and lactose free milk (you should try it if you crave dairy/milk) but will cut down other dairy -cheese etc and see if it helps! I thought it was evenings I felt worse until today! Maybe week 8 is the worst and it'll tail off...hopefully!!....

OH loves curries and I've warned him I won't be partaking for a while! He can have the curry, I'll have the rice!

thanks for the tips- will try little and often.

TakingTheStairs · 04/05/2013 19:48

weechops that's very annoying. How selfish is your SIL , you "ruined" her good news about being pregnant by daring to be sensitive because you'd had a mc only weeks before? I want to shout at her! How rude!
Poor you xxxx

mumoftwoboysS · 04/05/2013 19:56

oh and Queenof -sympathise- although I can't stomach curry now I LOVE it normally and hate the sugary soupy Brit stuff some places serve up too. They do the same with Chinese. I grew up in HK and authentic Chinese food is nothing like the stuff they sell in takeaways here- it's all greasy and sweet. Proper Chinese food is light, healthy and not at all greasy.

LittleBells · 04/05/2013 20:04

Thanks dasie and QueenofWhispers re the Harmony test.

I had a little look on the internet and found the nearest city to me that does it, it seemed to be £750 or £850, but I wasn't really sure what I was looking at as the layout of the price page was so bad, so that might have been for something else (or a lot extra as well as the Harmony test!) If that's the real price, I'm just working out if I can justify it money-wise, or if I should just wait for the normal scan.

Re dairy, I went right off milk and cheese too! anything liquidy especially milk put me off so much! Maybe there is something in the dairy thing about contributing to nausea. I have felt so very nauseous for weeks, but it's worn off this week (week 9) now I am worried that I don't feel as sick any more! Can't win!

QueenofWhispers I know what you mean about the rage! I have definitely got a shorter fuse than usual. I just feel like I won't put up with any nonsense!

weechops that's really petty of your SIL. Imagine not sending you a congratulatory text, especially after your mc in January. Let's hope she comes round in time. Perhaps she is a little bit jealous that you've got pregnant again, so she's having to "share" her pregnancy attention with you. Maybe she feels that her baby will have the limelight for less time because yours will be born shortly afterwards. What a shame she can't just think it will be nice to have cousins born close together. Hopefully she will come round before long Smile

weechops · 04/05/2013 20:39

Thanks taking and littlebells I guess I just wish I had a close relationship with my inlaws, but heyho I have plenty of fab friends to celebrate with :)

clare8allthepies · 04/05/2013 20:55

Hi everyone, had a few days of feeling right as rain, then yesterday and today have felt sick as a dog again. Also feel faint everytime I stand up, hope this doesn't last too long!

PistachioTruffle · 04/05/2013 21:21

Music Thankyou Smile I have been around, just lurking and reading rather than posting. I've got SO much work to do over the next few weeks I daren't find yet another reason to procrastinate! The tiredness really isn't helping either, all I want to do when I get home is sleep! I've given myself a day of doing nothing today though, and feel much better.

Weechops, sorry your SIL has been funny, she doesn't sound like a particularly nice or understanding person to be honest! How lovely that your kids are so excited though Grin

Excellent news about the scan Michelle, good to hear they're looking after you.

It's funny about the dairy/nausea thing, I actually find it really helps! Eating an apple and a babybel cheese is my current nausea cure Wink

QueenofWhispers · 05/05/2013 14:32

eating apples, vanilla yogurt and walnuts--it's like heaven to me.

i'm still angry about the non indian--indian food yesterday. I really need to calm down.

inkymomma · 05/05/2013 16:32

Feeling a little fed up today. For about 5 days now I have just felt completely exhausted (even afternoon naps and early nights aren't helping. Any pressure on my tummy makes me feel sick (this includes cuddles from DH) and just been feeling nauseous all the time. Been eating little and often but nothing seems to be helping. Sorry for the moan

Featherbag · 05/05/2013 17:04

Back to work tomorrow, 13 hour bank holiday shift and I haven't been awake at the time my shift finishes for over 3 weeks Hmm Please God let me be in triage - my hips have started hurting today, happened much later last time but led to me being on the sick and fairly limited mobility-wise for the last 5 weeks of the pregnancy.

FoxyRoxy · 05/05/2013 18:56

queen please don't hurt me but your story made me laugh! I know what you mean about disproportionate anger though!

I cannot eat enough cheese please don't tell me it's making me feel worse I'll cry!

I had the harmony test as standard here last pregnancy (I am in Spain and have private insurance though). Just as well as I didn't get my 12 week scan until 14+2 so was too late to measure the nuchal fold.

weechops your sil sounds awful! You poor thing :(

FluffyDucky · 05/05/2013 19:54

Inky, sorry to hear you feel so rough. I'm often finding when my tummy hurts & I feel sick it's because of constipation. I've got IBS so am used to it to a small amount but it can really make you feel down.
Sorry if tmi, but do you go regularly to the toilet?

inkymomma · 05/05/2013 20:27

My DH says my bowels are abnormal anyway. I usually only poo once every 2 days or so. I think everything is just slow in my body :-s

yogafan · 05/05/2013 20:31

Poor you inky, can you manage coke, crisps and as much lying down as possible? Hope you feel better soon x

Soopermum1 · 05/05/2013 21:52

feather, good luck with your shift. sounds a nightmare. I get tired just with my eight hours a day behind a desk!

successful shopping yesterday, some lovely soft stretchy leggings.

I'm a bit moodier than usual, broken sleep probably contributes the most.

going to get back to running tomorrow. I suspect my less defined waistline is more about the extra crap I've been eating since I gave up smoking rather than baby.

musiceverywhere · 05/05/2013 23:55

Hi all
Queenofwhispers your lunch story made me laugh! Hope your rage has subsided a bit.
weechops ah the trouble that is the ?in-laws?. Bit rubbish of her not to say congrats, especially as she knew you had a mc previously. Hopefully you?ve heard something from her by now. I find it really hard to suddenly have a 'close' relationship with people who are almost complete strangers in some cases.
inkymomma hope you start to feel better soon. I?m the same with being tired all the time and then when I finally get to bed my mind won?t stop whirring and I can't sleep!
feather hope you get through your shift, I know its particularly hard to do when you work in healthcare but remember to look after you also, don?t run around too much.
Not much new here, v sleepy. Just waiting for hospital appointment so can get answers to my many questions! Had letter from clinic summarising scan results. My cyst is really quite large... if I wasn't pregnant and had it removed, would be instant weight loss! Obviously don't care about that now, just need it out of the way so baby can grow. Hope you'll all be here to chat to in the coming months. Obviously as recovering from surgery can be quite a tedious affair, we've decided to push ahead with house extension over the summer, so that I have some builders to keep me company.....Hmm

2RedEars · 06/05/2013 09:20

Hello all I'm new. I Found out i was pregnant 2 weeks ago so about 7 weeks according to the doc but I think I'm a week behind so calculating my cycle. EDD is 28/12/13Can I ask when u went to the dr did they do a preg test to confirm mine didn't?? Just gave me my Mat exempt form & booked me for my first midwives appointment - what happens at this appointment will be 11 weeks then is that scan date??? It will be at my gps not main hospital.Sorry for the Qs

PistachioTruffle · 06/05/2013 09:39

Hiya 2redears, congratulations Grin

As I understand it, GPs don't actually do another test to check, as the home tests are so sensitive and accurate nowadays.

If your midwife appointment is at your GP then it sounds like your booking appointment - they will go through your medical history, take some blood, do your blood pressure, give you your notes and some information about pregnancy. I think some areas the midwives will organise your scan, and others you get an appointment through the post. Hope that helps!

QuietNinjaTardis · 06/05/2013 14:42

Hey everyone, haven't posted for a while and its so hard to catch up.
Violet I hope everything is ok.
2labradors my scan is the 23 rd as well! Got a letter the other day. They've booked me in for the risk for Down's syndrome test (can't remember what it's called) which I declined so will have to tell them when I get there that's its the dating scan only. You can buy scan photos at £4 a pop!
I'm still feeling sick as a pig and being sick normally in the late afternoon/evening. Not managing to eat a wide range of foods and obviously dinner Normally comes back up. Feeling shattered too. Can't wait til I feel better and can take ds out and bout and be normal again!

2RedEars · 06/05/2013 18:05

Thanks Pistachio! 1st pregnancy so all new to me. My DH wants to come to the appointment, just incase they do a scan. I was told by my Gp that I would have my 20 week scan at the surgery. So may have one when I go.

dutchyoriginal · 06/05/2013 20:16

Hi all, haven't posted much, but lurked mostly. Tomorrow, I should be at 8 weeks. I'm very worried now. My booking appointment with the midwife is next Friday and my dating scan on de 23rd, just like quietninjatardis.

However, I noticed some brown CM/discharge yesterday, several times during the day. This morning, I thought everything was normal again. Then, during lunchbreak, I noticed actual blood and something that looked like a little blood lump/clot. Called the midwife and fortunately, I can have a scan tomorrow afternoon. She said that clear red blood is a bad sign, but also said I should have cramps/pain and I haven't! I had a MC a couple of years ago and remember the pain. I feel some strange twinges, like something is moving or something, but definitely no pain. Confused

FX that it's nothing and that I'll have a safe and healthy pregnancy, but right now, I'm def worried. Sad

2Labradors · 06/05/2013 20:21

feather really hope your shift went ok, 13 hours is a long time

quiet how exciting. We're not having the downs test either, just dating scan. 2 weeks on Thursday, I hope it doesn't drag.

redears welcome and congratulations. That sounds good about the scan at your surgery.

We've had a lovely bank holiday weekend. I've been drinking shloer which tastes quite nice actually.

I've got my booking in bloods tomorrow so have avoided sugar all day today (no shloer today) as my urine had showed glucose and I'm hoping my full blood count won't show a high glucose.
