Hi all

Well, survived London, just! Had a fab time wandering around Canary wharf, then we went over to Oxford / Bond St for a bit & then had dinner in a lovely square behind Bond Street. However, think I may have overdone it as I have been quite poorly today, was sick a few times this morning and have had a headache and very sore hips for most of the day. Suppose that will teach me!

NJ - glad to hear everything is ok, must have been v worrying for you. Hope you hve had fun in the sun @ the beach - sounds fab!

Mygirl - hope you are feeling better too. Not sure how I will tan now am pg - will find out on hols! GOing to stock up on cream & things next weekend.

Hope everyone else has had a fab weekend in the lovely weather

Hi all - should be a good day today - sun has gone in for a minute - possibilty of a storm, but it's due out again shortly - luckily we're near the coast so it should be a little cooler than elsewhere in the UK. My work are having an end of term party so I don't have to do anything other than turn up and join in the fun (and get paid for it) - although that will be much later as I have my scan at 11.30 - we've been given a whole list of numbers to call afterwards as practically every member of my family wants to know how it goes. Very exciting time... Hope everyone else has a good day

Morning everyone

We had a lovely weekend, Blackpool lived up to it's name yesterday though, it was lovely in the morning we went to the pleasure beach and DS went on all the rides and we got photos for Nanna and Grandma! Then we walked down the prom a bit and had some lunch, then we headed for the beach hoping it would have been the same as it was on Saturday, but when we got down to it, it was absolutely filthy, there had obviously been some parties going on on Saturday night and there was just heaps and piles of rubbish everywhere, broken glass in the sand, boxes of empty beer cans/bottles lying around, goodness only knows what else was there, we didn't stick around to find out though! It was a real let down and what is worse there didn't seem to be anyone clearing it up, I said to DH I thought they were waiting for the tide to come in to take all the rubbish away with it, it was really horrible!

But other than that the weekend was lovely and it was just what we needed after the worry on Friday, it was a bit warm, when we got there yesterday at 10.30, it was already 32 degrees, and I am still favouring a lobster which I am not pleased about, I hate getting burnt, especially when I wasn't even trying to tan at all!

Anyway enough moaning from me! Have a good morning everyone

HopingCat · 03/07/2006 09:46

Hi all,
I've tried to catch up with the last week of posts from you all but there are so many! We had a lovely week away in Wales, although I did get a bit sunburnt. Baby is moving lots more now, I can see it through my belly sometimes which is so weird!

I'm glad there have been more good scans, and congrats to those who know the sex. I am sometimes glad I didn't ask at scan, but at other times I'm so curious. I wonder if the next 18 weeks would go faster if I knew?

Morning, lots of messages so not had a chance to read through them all yet.

M2T congrats on your little girl
NJ glad things have calmed down for you - take it easy from now on.

Well managed to survive the weekend, although I spent a lot of yesterday cabbaged on the sofa.

We did have a great water fight - DS loved it and was so upset when we had to stop - little monkey kept squirting me even though I was holding the video camera and didn't have anything to retaliate with - he kept shouting at Daddy to 'quirt mummy as well.

I've sorted out my mat leave - I finish in 4 weeks!!! on 26th July - looking forward to it I have to say. I'm not that close to my due date I'm just taking leave very early.

I have also decided that I want to try and get someone in to try and help with the housework/garden just for an hour a week I think, although this is still in negotiation with DH . I will be working full time on our home business so I won't be sitting with my feet up that's for sure.

Good luck with surviving today.

NatalieJane · 03/07/2006 11:44

Phew it is baking out there, I am missing my laptop so much, I have just bought the furniture for the baby's room, once we have had the scan we can decorate the room and get the furniture in there, then it will start to feel more real, and it will suddenly change from being 'the spare room' to the baby's room!

NatalieJane · 03/07/2006 11:45

MAMB, 4 weeks????!!! You just want to have the summer off don't you?!

MeAndMyBoy · 03/07/2006 13:06

staceym11 · 03/07/2006 13:35

hi everyone, glad people had a good weekend.

i cant stand the heat and have been having major problems sleeping! if we had the money to buy an air conditioner i would have done it by now!

quick catch up:
debbsy i have the same feelings and i remember them from dd too, i think its just normal stretching etc if it gets really bad id talk to m/w but if not i think its just summit you gotta deal with!

ladyanne im pretty sure you have BH all the way through but they get more noticable now that your uterus is bigger, iv been feeling them for about 3 weeks and im 21 weeks today.

NJ and any other sun lovers i dont want to preach but please please please slather on a high factor cream if you're out in the sun coz the UV rays can make it through the skin to the baby. although sunburn not fun that wont hurt them but the UV is worse for little ones.

well got my scan tomo and really cant wait (think theres two others with it tomo as well!) really wanna find out what it is but am gunna have to wait till dp gets home in the eve as am gunna ask them to write it down coz he cant make it to the scan and the next one they could give me was at 30 weeks!!!

dd is like a whirlwind atm as im vegged out on the sofa most the time. did have a cleaning spree yesterday tho when i dragged dp (happens the other way round usually) off his bum to sort the clothes in the bedroom into the wardrobe and to play with dd for me (and bath the poor sweaty girl) so i could sort all the clothes in her bedroom. only problem is she has too many clothes and needs a chest of drawers, the one that matches her wardrobe (that we were given) costs £49 and we aint got a penny to our name atm, gotta get out doing my avon to bring some extra money in to buy that and a storage unit to put all the bloody toys in!

sorry to rant and for long post, will catch up again soon!

you've done plenty in a day i think mygirl!

i feel proud if i manage the washing up, but thats mainly coz i cant stand for too long in this heat!

NatalieJane · 03/07/2006 14:55

Mygirl, I know how you feel, when you feel well you want to get on top of the house again, but honestly after what happened with me last week, really try to take it easy, especially in this heat, believe me a bit of washing piling up is the very last thing on my mind now!

Don't push it!

eeyoreuk · 04/07/2006 14:01

Hi where is everyone? Hope everything is okay.
Am trying to sort my leaving date out for work and I have not got a clue how are you suposed to know how you will feel in 15 weeks time

Hi all,

As usual trying to keep up is super hard but have done my best Welcome to Debbz and congrats on all your scans and finding out the flavours.

Don't know if I ate something dodgy or had a bit of a bug but was mega sick on sunday morning and felt ill all day (and most of yesterday too). A bit of a nightmare as we are still trying to sell the house and had to get up to tidy (DH tries his best but is pretty crap at multitasking i.e. can't do boys and housework) for the open viewing - was expecting a man who had cancelled on Thursday but he didn't show but on a slightly positive note he's meant to come tonight @ 8 pm - crap time esp. as DH is away. I will just have to be super speedy after tea to tidy and get all the boys bathed and in bed. Lights will be off so not so great for viewing. Still holding out for him loving the house though and giving me wads of cash

It has been hot here too but then we had lots of thunder and lightening on Sunday night and its been misty ever since. Have five loads of washing to dry (so might have to visit the laundrette to put it in their dryer). Not such a good start for the summer hols - but hey can't do much about it.

Hope the heat isn't too much for everyone else in sunnier parts. Keep well.

CattyB · 04/07/2006 14:38

Regards maty leave it really depends on what kind of work you do? 1st time around I was in a (very laid back) office and wasn't planning on going back so I worked 'til the day before I was due. 2nd time round I was still at home and 3rd time round I was back District Nursing and because of the bending and lifting wouldn't have wanted to work past 34 weeks. I know its hard to say how you are going to feel but if you are well enough now then hopefully you'll still be then.

On a diff note what has made you decide to be a home educator MGL?

MeAndMyBoy · 04/07/2006 15:06

I've just sorted out my mat leave. First time round I worked until 2 weeks before my due date assuming that I would have 4 weeks off before baby arrived to sort out the house and do all the last minute things and be a lady of leisure for a few days - no such luck DS arrived 2 days early!! work in an office sat on down most of the day so fairly easy.

This time round (working at the same place) I finish in 4 weeks although will be working full time in our home business so will be busier than I am now.

How long do you think you'll want to stay at home for? will it 6mths or will you take extended leave and have a year - do you think you'll go back - my advice for me if I knew before having DS what I know now I would suggest if you feel fit and well now and you think you will go back to work - whether it is 6 or 12mths later then stay at work as late as you can so you have most of your time at home with your LO. But give yourself a little bit of time to be just you and bored at home on your own.

podglet · 04/07/2006 16:10

Hi all, back in the office today after nearly a week off so have been v busy!

Eeyoreuk, I will be leaving when I am 36+6 as although my office is very laid back, my job isn't! Want a bit of time at home to finish everything off and chill out a bit before LO turns up

hi everyone, well had my scan today and..............................

we'r having a little baby boy!!!!! so one of each for me!! im so happy (not that i wouldnt have been happy with a girl) but i just feel brill!

got loads of baby girl clothes to sort through and pair up and either put on ebay/car boot!

on the note of maternity leave i cant be much help as with dd i was so ill i had to leave work at about 14 weeks and havnt been back since! lol, hopefully you'll work out whats good for you! and its true, if you have to stand/lift/do a lot of straining work you will need to leave earlier, if you sit at a desk it might be easier, but you never know!!

spinach · 04/07/2006 20:09

Hi all... havent been on for ages... trying to read through your messages and catch up... reading that some of you have found out the sex of your babies... our scan is tomorrow.... want to resist asking what it is but dont know if i can!

OP posts:
LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 04/07/2006 21:10

Oh on the story of scans - I better add my bit - we had our scan on Monday. All that fuss about drinking lots beforehand went down the pan as I still have MS and threw the lot up on the way. We had a male sonographer - seemed to know what he was doing and we didn't hang about, baby looked very chilled and was very obliging - when the sonographer wanted baby to turn, baby obligingly turned - it was like it was saying "okay - which bit do you want to see now?". We don't know what sex it is as it decided to cross it's legs - it has big feet though and on the scan photo that it looked like it was scratching it's bum and smoking a cigarette (just like it'a father before he found out I was pregnant - then his cigs went straight out the window and he hasn't smoked since!)Still everything is exactly where it should be and size and development suggests that we are still on schedule for a November 27th due date.

Hope all goes well for the ladies who haven't had their scan yet. See ya LA
