best of luck mower xx

Mummy2Toby · 18/06/2006 22:47

Hiya everyone - yet again I have left it ages before posting Blush I do read the posts everyday, but with ds running around everywhere I don't really get the time to post and with the hot weather I am trying to get out as much as we can!
I am glad that everyone seems to be doing well, I can feel the bubs everyday now, but I do feel kind of guilty because I am not focusing on this pg as much as I did with ds (but then I haven't got the time now)I have my next scan on 30th when I will be 23 weeks ish and am going to find out the sex if they can tell - I would also love a girl but would be just as happy with a boy - it would be cheaper for a start Grin Anyway, must go and do some ironing - how exciting my life is. Catch up soon

HopingCat · 19/06/2006 08:45

Hi,
All weekend I've had people telling me that I've got a 'boy bump' because it's all out front and you can't tell I'm pg from behind. I've almost been convinced it is a boy now, but am a bit wary of this old wives tale, and I personally did think it was a girl until now.
One of my friends is a midwife and she seems to think you really can tell sex of baby by looking at the bump. Has anyone else been told they have a boy or girl bump, and does anyone know of someone who had an out the front bump that was a girl not a boy?

mygirllolipop · 19/06/2006 08:46

Good luck with the scans girls, got my two on Weds.

NatalieJane · 19/06/2006 09:18

Hi everyone :o Good luck to those with scans, mine isn't unitl 14th July, seems like ages away, actually, it is ages away!! LOL

We had a busy weekend and then DS had a rough night last night so Monday morning and I might as well be dead on my feet again! I need a weekend to get over the weekends at the moment! And MS has made an unexpected appearance again, but with heart burn this time, so I don't know if it is one causing the other or not. Other than that everything is fine, after the scare last week, it seems the baby had moved from one side of my belly more into the middle and I have been feeling the movements again some quite strong kicks as well, so I am feeling so much more reassured!

Anyway I hope everyone has a good day :)

MeAndMyBoy · 19/06/2006 09:30

Morning ladies, sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here. Had a very busy 4 days.

Tinasan - congrats on your little girl :)

Mower - good luck with your scan, and everyone else that has scans in the next few days - they are amazing, the detail you get to see is fantastic.

Well we don't have a flavour, were asked and decided not to find out and she was very good at turning the screen away so that we wouldn't find out by accident as well. Everything is fine and dandy, but took 45 mins to get all the measurements that she needed between the baby being a tinker and playing games with the probe and either kicking it or wriggling out of the way or me going all faint and dizzy and having to turn off my back. So now need to catch up with my midwife on wednesday and get my MAT B1 and then can hand my maternity leave date in to work. Have another scan in a few weeks time to check the weight but all is fine now - as I expected it to be.

Take care and hope everyone has a good day.

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 09:31

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 09:33

so glad everything went well mandmb xx

NatalieJane · 19/06/2006 09:34

So glad it went well MAMB :o I must say I don't know how you are all being so good and waiting till the birth to find out the sex, I would drive my hubby mad if we had to wait that long!! LOL

Tinasan · 19/06/2006 10:23

Good morning everyone,

Thanks so much for all the congratulations. I really feel like I'm having a baby now! DH felt the baby move at the weekend and we can now see my tummy move when she decided to have a stretch - it's amazing!!!! (you can tell this is my first can't you :) )

HopingCat - my bump is ALL out front, I've put about 16 pounds already and it's all on my tummy and my bust. From behind I look the same as I always did - so considering I'm having a girl, I think this one is an old wives tale!

Meandmyboy - great news that your scan went great and well done for not asking the flavour - you have more will power than me!!!

Question for experienced mums re MATB1 - I thought the midwife would only issue this after 26 weeks - am I wrong?

thanks
Tinasan

mower · 19/06/2006 10:38

Hi everyone. Just been for 20 week scan and all is well. Am having another boy!! Am going to have my hands full, two boys with just 13 months between them. Am so happy.

MeAndMyBoy · 19/06/2006 10:59

woo hoo congratulations mower :) 2 boys will be fab, what I am hoping for and then they can run each other ragged rather then me all the time lol.

Tinasan if you have a look at this website it might help with dates - although don't think you are UK based?

\link{http://www.tiger.gov.uk/cgi-bin/maternity1_03.pl\link maternity leave dates}

They issue the MAT B1 after the 20wk scan here, but my next madwives appointment is at 25 wks which is 2 days before the last date that I have to legally inform work of my intended start to maternity leave - and I am not in work for either of those days. Might be worth checking with your HR department when you have let them know by?

Tinasan · 19/06/2006 11:10

Congrats Mower! 2 little boys, how lovely.

MeAndMyBoy - thanks very much for the info - I am UK based, live in London, maybe I've mentioned that my DH is Italian somewhere and have confused you? I have my next midwife appointment in a couple of weeks so I'll ask her for that form then.

For everyone currently working - when do you think is the best time to start maternity leave? I was thinking 4 weeks before, is that about right? I want to be able to relax and prepare a bit, but don't want to leave too early and then get bored, especially if the baby decides to come late?

podglet · 19/06/2006 12:01

Hi all,

Congrats on your little boy mower :o

Re: the bump question - both our families are convinced this is a girl coz I look like my side of the family when they have carried girls?! Not sure how true this is but I have also had the same cravings as DP's mum did when she was carrying his sisters so don't know!

Tinasan, I am going to be leaving work on 27th October, health and things willing which is the day before I will be 37 weeks. Am expecting this one to be late as it is my first and the later I leave work, the longer I have with the baby. However, I think 3 weeks is ok, as I get bored really easily so don't want too much time to hang about and wait for it to arrive!

HopingCat · 19/06/2006 12:18

Congratulations Mower on your little boy.

Tinasan - thank you for saying your girl is all out front, I feel lots better now. It's not that I really want a girl, it's just that I wanted to stay open minded about it, and other people's comments weren't letting me do that.

I was thinking of leaving work at about 37 weeks too. Any longer and I know I'll get bored. I am thinking of going down to a 4 day week through September and October though, as I'll have lots of leave to use and don't want to end up too tired if I can help it.

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 12:19

hi all feeling bab move lots today think i can even feel little kicks not sure though as is its our first.
Mower congratulations on your little boy xx Grin

MeAndMyBoy · 19/06/2006 12:58

Ahh debbsy that's so cool :)

I think i will possibly end up starting mat leave as soon as I can - DS starts school in September and I can't get him to school and me to work and both be on time. But need to have some discussion with DH about it though. I left 2 weeks before due date with DS and then spent the 2 weeks decorating assuming he would be late and I'd have time for me after - wrong he was 2 days early!!!

Whoops sorry Tinasan Blush will you be looking for a name that works in English and Italian or just go for either or? a friend is married to an Italian chap, she lives in Italy and she has gone for an English name for her DS.

Bump question I was all out front with DS and from behind you couldn't see I was PG, think so far it's worked like that but think it's changing now, 1 pair of maternity trousers I wore until my due date are now too tight round my thighs :( - I'm going to be a whale.

mygirllolipop · 19/06/2006 12:59

Congrats those who have had scans (and those who know the flavour). It's making me excited about mine.
For those that work I would think leave no earlier than 36wks.

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 13:24

i think thats what it is anyhow.I,m going to try and work upto to 2 weeks before then 6 months off with bibby so i will finish round about the 8th nov then 2 weeks hols owin to me,so wont officially start maternity leave until the day bibby is due (my ideal anyway)
Regarding bumps mines only small. no weight anywhere else yet, lots of trousers and skirts dont fit so went to asda in minworth and brought 2 pairs of trousers they have an excellent maternity range worth the drive from Staffs. :)

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 13:31

Has anyone decided what sort of birth they would like yet?
Im thinking of a water birth.

mygirllolipop · 19/06/2006 14:30

Debsy - I'm having a homebirth and absolulety no room for a birth pool! Hopfully the bath is just as good!

Just got phone call from place where I'm getting my sex determination scan on Weds and they've asked me if they can upgrade me to a 4D scan with extra piccies at no extra cost!

CattyB · 19/06/2006 14:34

I'm planning on having a waterbirth. Got the pool on order. Have had pools at home for all my other pgs - 1st time round I laboured in the water but had to get out to give birth as DS was a wee bit stuck and I needed an epis Sad but still managed the home birth I wanted. Have given birth in the water the last twice and can only recommend it. I found the pool gave me great support. Only problem last time was my boys thought I should have toys to play with which kind of got in the way during contractions Grin

DebbsyandBibby · 19/06/2006 14:39

wow my girl how fab for you please let us know how you get on.
So you would recommend it then catty?

Tinasan · 19/06/2006 15:06

MeAndMyBoy - we're trying to think of names that will 'work' in both languages - so far the favourites are Elena and Isabella! What about you?

Thanks for everyones replies re maternity leave - I think I'll see how I feel and if I can get through another couple of weeks after 36 weeks, I'll go for it. As for the birth - hum I am trying not to think about that too much yet! Definitely be in the hospital though, as it's my first and I've got pre-existing high bp ....

HopingCat · 19/06/2006 16:41

I'm hoping for a water birth, but it will be in hospital as this is my first so I can only hope that the birthing pool is available when I turn up at hospital. Is it true that the water can slow down dilation and you shouldn't get in too early?
