Congratulations tas, I love the name Zachary, it's one of my favourite names Smile

CluelessNewbie1 · 20/05/2013 21:59

Yey more babies! Congratulations everyone.

wrigglerchick · 21/05/2013 06:40

Thanks for the weeing advice ladies - I finally managed to go yesterday with the help of a chant/song which I now sing to myself each time - weird but I don't care if it works!

Hoping to be sent home today if we're both ok. James is a bit jaundiced but under the treatment line so hopefully will clear shortly. We're having a hard time feeding as James just won't suck even when he latches. Have been hand expressing but we resorted to a bit of formula from a cup last night as he was very hungry. I'm hoping we'll master bf-ing once my milk comes in. Having not slept since before I went into labour three days ago everything was a bit much yesterday but I'm feeling better this morning after a few hours sleep and my dh has been beyond incredible! He's the most natural daddy and has looked after us both completely!

Looking forward to hearing more baby news later today - sounds like there should be at least a couple of new arrivals Grin

Zorra · 21/05/2013 08:09

Waking up this morning with a new lovely daughter :) Unnamed as yet, born at home (planned homebirth) at 2am, no water birth as the pool was full as she arrived!

Lovely birth, faster than last time but no pain relief needed (was hypnobirthing), and no stitches. DS wavering between smitten and jealous, expect that to last for a while. My mum was a great birth partner, and I feel like my little girl did us all proud. Very happy! She had a huge feed a few hours ago and is asleep since then, so I'm getting DS ready for school then back for another feed and hopefully snooze.

Good luck for today all remaining babies!

CluelessNewbie1 · 21/05/2013 08:24

Congratulations Zorra. xx

Bunnychan · 21/05/2013 09:22

Congratulations zorra! Sounds like a wonderful birth! Enjoy cuddling your newborn :-) x

Livingwithmymother · 21/05/2013 09:29

Congratulations tas and zorra x Smile

I'm going to be pregnant forever now. I just know
It.
I had a sweep yesterday, convinced myself it would make me feel better knowing whats happening in regards to how baby is progressing.

It didn't .
Baby is low, midwife could only just touch her head. And my cervix is long and thick.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 21/05/2013 09:34

Congratulations tas and zorra.

roast good to hear from you and glad things are going well. There is a supplement you can get from holland & Barrett to help boost milk supple but I can't remember what it is

wriggler if he lays in the sun by the window it should help with the jaundice.

Beatrice has a very gunky eye today. I'm bathing it but will mention it to the MW when she's weighed tomorrow.

ButteryJam · 21/05/2013 09:49

Zorra · 21/05/2013 10:32

Thanks all, and congrats Tas :) Trying to get her to feed again, she a bit mucous-vomity. Just spending the day in bed letting her rootless around :)

DXBMermaid · 21/05/2013 12:24

I was so sure my little one was going to arrive in the next couple of days, but the Dr did an internal exam today and said that her head is still very high up. She advised lots of sex and walking. Already told DH what he needs to do tonight. Bought RLT and clary sage oil. Don't really like spicy food, but am going to make some fresh pineapple sorbet this afternoon.

Been told that I won't be allowed to go further then 40+10 but think that by that time I'll be begging for an induction.

plum14ble · 21/05/2013 13:35

hello all. just come across this and wished i'd found it earlier! i'm 40+7 today and feeling rather fed up. although just an hour ago had bad period type pains which i was finding hard to sit still through and ran myself a bath. seems a lot better now which is actually annoying! bounding on my exercise ball as well speak. what do you lot think. is it the start? couldn't do a sweep on friday as cervix too far back. i hope it is the start because i don't have induction booked until 40+14!

Wirrawoo · 21/05/2013 13:44

Hi guys just wanted to check in and say hi on here... Have been posting on FB but somehow couldn't wrap my head around the iPad and catching up on MN thread properly until now! Will post birth story in full some time today but for the moment am going to take a nap whilst my gorgeous little son Jamie sleeps (seriously, he pulls the best facial expressions when he's dreaming, I could just gaze at him all day!), and wish you all lovely ladies who have had their babies arrive this week HUGE congrats and big hugs.
We had pretty much the opposite of our birth plan, it was the Strep B and my waters breaking first that put the spanner in the works as they would only give us 12 hours from there for labour to get established before putting me on the drip, but I just didn't care by the time it came to the c-section decision and was just overjoyed to have him in my arms. they have said I can try for a natural birth next time as long as I wait for 2 years, so we're up for it!
Today is DP's first day back at work and despite having loads of catastrophic thoughts yesterday about awful things happening we are managing just fine.. It's v peaceful actually. These past 2 weeks have been such an amazing experience, am so so glad we decided to do this.
Haven't got the hang of going out in public beyond a walk yet... Feeling recovered enough from c-section to function pretty much normally now, but am still too nervous to breast feed in public until I work out how to do it discreetly and yesterday we went for a coffee but it was really hot in the cafe and I think Jamie overheated slightly in his bugaboo newborn cocoon thingy... Any tips on regulating their temperature on outings?
Anyway, will type more later. So glad for all you ladies having good labour experiences. Big hugs to all xxx

cuppateaandagingersnap · 21/05/2013 14:17

Congratulations tas, zorra, rachy and wirra Grin sorry if I've forgotten anyone - thread seems to be moving so fast!
Enjoy!

Still no signs here [sigh] second sweep tomorrow so will keep fingers crossed. Seems odd to be continually hoping that I will be suffering agonising pain soon Hmm

40+6

beaver33 · 21/05/2013 14:26

Hi all, and congrats to all those with snuggly newborns and good birthing vibes to those still waiting...!

Am sitting here breastfeeding my stunning baby daughter, now a week old, eek! I popped in to say she'd been born but got caught up in the bubble etc so thought I'd come back to give more details.

So....Francesca Olive (Frankie) born 14 May at 20.28 weighing 7lb 4oz.

Birth story TMI ALERT

Long latent stage which started with losing my plug and mild contractions Sat morning and built up to back-to-back painful contractions by 3am Sunday - and then stopped. Mild contractions until they built up again on Monday night, but were never regular despite being really painful. Eventually went to hospital Tues morning (through rush hour traffic - took 45 mins!) and was found to be 6cm dilated.

Got into birth pool, started on gas and air after a while, 8 hours pass and am still just 8cm. Hallucinate badly on the gas - imagine I've actually given birth four times... Eventually given spinal anaesthetic and taken to theatre for forceps delivery as bubs had umbilical cord wrapped round her neck three times! Not ideal but was so exhausted by this point I didn't care.

Frankie's amazing. Off to join postnatal thread but will still keep in here!

X

Zorra · 21/05/2013 16:27

In unrelated news, I saw my fanjo today for the first time in months - it's like a spooky enchanted forest down there! Half expected to see a witch with a broomstick wandering around Grin

shelly81 · 21/05/2013 17:38

zorra I think I've just peed my pants hahaa Grin x

Wirrawoo · 21/05/2013 17:45

Ah, where is the postnatal thread? (will still check in here too)
So, birth story in full TMI alert
At 11pm on May 2nd my waters went, but it was such an odd feeling that I wasn't quite sure if they had or not. Googled "how do you know when your waters have broken" & it said to lie on your side for a while, then if if was your waters they would collect and tip out of you when you sat up again. Tried it, it did, so called DP back from the pub where he gone for the first beer in weeks after a show (luckily had declined the 2nd pint!) and called Maternity Triage who told me to come in. This was unfortunately our mistake, as I now realise I should have called the Birth Centre and gone there to get checked out, as the night staff at Maternity triage were terrible. One nurse thought she might see some meconium in my waters on the pad but even though the 2nd nurse disagreed she insisted (there wasn't so she was wrong) so from that moment on the birth centre was out, they made me stay in hospital and start on the antibiotics for strep b. sent DP home to get a few hours sleep, I got about an hour on a ward with a woman in labour n one side of me and a woman with newborn twins on the other as all the wards were full. Got transferred to labour ward in the morning where they were really nice & sent me to walk around to try and get things started but by 1pm made me start on the hormone drip to induce as I wasn't dilated at all. Stayed on the drip for 12 hours just using the TENS machine & natal hypnotherapy which I totally recommend as it really helped. Still wasn't more than 2cm dilated by 1am so had an epidural for a last attempt of a few hours to see if that helped. Still no further dilation so at 3:25am We had a C-section with lovely doctors, a great team and they let us choose the music he was born to, so Jamie entered the world to Marvin Gaye! Jamie Luke Thomas Anderson was a very healthy 8lbs 11oz & 54cm with a very loud set of lungs! We stayed in postnatal ward for 4 nights afterwards, with DP sleeping on his yoga mat on the floor underneath the cot as there was nowhere for him to go! Have written on FB about some feeding probs we had on the 3rd day but are home now and all is well. We have been on a huge high with love for him and each other ever since and I am besotted with him. Can't quite wrap my head around the fact that we made him! Am so grateful to the midwives on the ward for helping us and being so supportive, as it turned out it was hugely helpful to have their input & expertise there over those first few days.
Right, am off to have another nap!

InNeedofSomeSleep · 21/05/2013 19:41

Zorra thats so funny.
I did say to husband earlier that it felt like a massive hole now, prob should start my pelvic floor.

Wirra loved reading your birth story. So nice your husband stayed with you the whole time day and night.

We just had our 1st bath tonight, DD1 helped out too, she is not so keen on the baby crying bless her and then cried because she couldn't take her sister to bed with her. It made me so happy because she has been a bit off with her so far. Even managed to take them both out on my own today to a toddler group and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. (prob helped everyone wanted to cuddle Kate)

Hope all the other babies are doing ok and everyone is enjoying it as much as we are.
