Thanks dinky and cheese for both work and weight advice - feeling better on both counts. And hope you feel better soon cheese.

Hope Oliver is alright this morning shiv, have been thinking about you guys all day.

Thinkingof4 · 16/04/2013 14:17

Sorry to all those not feeling well today. abzs I had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday and had a headache and felt a bit viral last night but ok today apart from really sore arm! Luckily I sleep on the other side so slept ok apart from accidentally setting my alarm for 6am instead of 7!! Pregnancy brain definitely taking hold

shiv hope you, dh and Oliver had ok night. Hope you are getting some rest and remembering to eat and drink xx

Cheeseandbread · 16/04/2013 14:20

Thanks Dinky , glad the Pilates helped.

Sorry you are poorly too BB01 I am also hoping it is not going to be a regular occurrence... Hope you feel better soon.

I also seem to get braxton hicks quite a bit- anyone else?

26+3

Cheeseandbread · 16/04/2013 14:22

X posts thanks Guava

Persuasion · 16/04/2013 14:54

shiv our thoughts are still with you. As thinking said, make sure you and DH look after yourselves as well, it must be really tough.

Sorry for all the others with illness - I hope I haven't started the thread off badly Shock I'm off work again today, and had to have the midwife round this morning because chip wasn't really moving. Obviously once I called the midwife she started up again, and although she's definitely a bit quieter than normal heartbeat was fine. I suspect all the bowel upset is not helping, and think she may have changed position, so I'm losing some of the movement to my anterior placenta. I'm taking tomorrow off sick as well, so as not to spread my nice virus around, and to make sure all is fine with chip, and I'm still actually feeling fairly yucky. Then I have thursday and friday as annual leave anyway, so no more work for me until monday! Unfortunately that means I'm going to be ridiculously busy next week catching up. cheese my cat is also loving all the time in bed keeping me company.

granny for the GTT, essentially I'd advise the same as dinky! It wasn't so bad as I thought, just very boring so take plenty to entertain yourself. And I'd recommend taking something to eat straight afterwards, especially if you're driving - I felt quite shaky until I'd eaten.

Good afternoon all, growth scan was good today, jumping bean seems to be following the right line and est weight is already 3lb 3oz, think I got a little chunk in there. BP didn't fair quite so well, seems to be heading up again, so weekly monitoring for me now.
Those that are having DC 2 or already have had, is anyone doing a 'breast feeding' box for older sibling to prevent jealously/sibling rivalry when feeding/doing essential things, if so what did/are you putting in it, we seem to be heading towards more terrible twos tantrums at the mo, so I'm thinking it might be a good idea, but I'm not sure what to get/how much I'm sure (like everything) I could spend a fortune so just looking for a few ideas.

dinkystinky · 16/04/2013 16:58

Glad you had a good scan NotprincessKate. DS1 was 2 and 10 months when DS2 arrived - I kept hold of our nanny (because we know and love her and I really wanted her to look after DS2 when I went back to work - just reduced her hours for a bit) but it did make things tight financially while I was on maternity leave - however also meant DS1 was still doing his activities and getting out and about and DS2's arrival didnt impact on him and as a result he took it all really well in his stride. Other friends basically invested in sticker books, DVDs, toy babies and bottles, play kitchens and lots of CBeebies and seemed to do absolutely fine.

TotallyEggFlipped · 16/04/2013 17:24

cheese I seem to get Braxton hicks quite a lot too.

notprincesskate glad your scan went well.

Anyone looking for reassurance re:weight gain, the pregnancy weight gain calculator gives a range of what your weight should be each week, depending on starting height & weight. Apparently I should've gained around a stone already!

shelley72 · 16/04/2013 17:24

found you all! been thinking of shiv and hoping that oliver is alright today.

feel bad for posting given what shiv is going through but i am still feeling a bit rubbish. though it does seem that there are a lot of sickness bugs about. i now have a varicose vein and acid indigestion to add to my pregnancy glamour Smile. i have been guzzling gaviscon like there's no tomorrow but its not making the slightest difference. anything and everything i eat - not huge meals either - and it starts up again. am not fancying food now at all Sad.

notprincesskate i didnt do a BF box specifically with DS when DD was born but somehow he survived even though she fed a LOT. we kept to his usual nursery routine as we didnt want to change his little world any more than it already had been. i seem to remember also watching a lot of dinosaur documentaries and cbeebies! i think you also need to remember to make sure you have drinks / snacks / that they've been to loo before you sit down to feed. not quite sure how it will work this time around. i think the baby will just have to fit in feeds around school / nursery runs and other activities. i have been worrying thinking about this and i hope that i am going to be able to BF this baby when the time comes.

in other news, am nearly done with my hospital bag shopping. latest addition are some rather fetching post natal BIG pants from primark (2.50 for 4!). DH said that they are so gorgeous that he may not need the snip now after all - the pants should work just fine Grin

IcingOnTheNappyCake · 16/04/2013 18:25

Just found this thread, im due 20th July and to be honest im really quite new to mumsnet, am i okay to just drop into this thread? Smile Sorry for a probably quite silly post Wink

Runswithsquirrels · 16/04/2013 18:30

Hello Icing and welcome.

IcingOnTheNappyCake · 16/04/2013 18:31

Thank you Smile so am i right in thinking this is a thread for people who are due in July just to chat about their pregnancies?

VinegarDrinker · 16/04/2013 18:45

Yes, exactly Icing - we batter about all sorts! Add yourself to the due date list too - link in the first post. Welcome!

29 weeks today and feeling BIG!

VinegarDrinker · 16/04/2013 19:01

NATTER not batter!

IcingOnTheNappyCake · 16/04/2013 19:10

Haha thank you I'll go and do that now Smile
Cannot wait to be 29 weeks! Getting into the 30's will be amazing! I'm 26+3 and feeling like my bump hasn't grown for 3 weeks! Although three weeks ago it did a spectacular show of growing enormous overnight Confused

Cutandstick · 16/04/2013 19:15

Shelley have you tried the gaviscon dual action (something like that) I find the single stuff doesn't cut it for crazy acid but the dual action does work (shame the doc prescribed the other one!) I gobble quite a few over night - not sure what state my teeth will be in once pregnancy is over?!!

Cheeseandbread · 16/04/2013 19:31

Welcome icing We are due date buddies Smile

Totally glad it's not just me with the braxton hicks- for me they are quite regular- a few times a day, normally I notice it more when I'm resting. It feels so hard I hope bean is ok in there Confused

Persuasion glad your cat is keeping you company Smile

notprincess glad your bean is growing nicely.

SlouchingPanda · 16/04/2013 19:47

Evening all, and welcome Icing - congratulations!

Excellent batter/natter autocorrect fail, Vinegar although to be fair from the amount of pancake chat this weekend, batter is just as accurate.

I am completely exhausted after a shitty weekend. Got home from work and lovely DH has just bought me new fancy shampoo, run me a bath, brought me a tonic & lime, filled my car with petrol and started the dinner. He is a marvel. The situation could only be improved with actual gin.

Junior moves all over, and constantly - lots of weird wriggling top right and really low down kicks too.

Otherwise all is well. Bump feels massive, got a good-going linea nigra and to whoever was asking about tightenings I get a LOT. Worse on doing stuff, better when resting. Perhaps a sign that 12h on calls should be stopped (that, and the weekend was totally hideous)...

Thoughts and prayers with Team Shiv - anyone heard anything today?

27+5

TotallyEggFlipped · 16/04/2013 20:08

Welcome icing!

cheese my bump gets much smaller and oddly shaped when I get a BH, which makes me worry about the bean getting too squished in there. Pretty sure it's normal enough though.

dinkystinky · 16/04/2013 21:07

Welcome Icing - hope all going well with your pregnancy.

Slouching - so sorry you had a tough weekend. Your DH sounds truly lovely though - glad he's looking after you! My tightenings have died down but got loads of BH really early on - esp when cold. Seemed worse when didnt keep well hydrated so make sure you're drinking lots of fluids. Am with you on missing the gin..

Went to pregnancy yoga tonight - all of a sudden there are 3 of us who started at the same time all around the 29 week (me on Thursday)/30/31 week stage - making it all feel v real and v soon. I still had the biggest bump of all 3 - even rivalling the 40 week pregnant woman there . Ho hum.

No news from Team Shiv - am hoping no news is good news and means they're getting a day of sleep after what must have been another sleepless night and sending hugs and support in their direction.

Cheeseandbread · 16/04/2013 21:46

slouching your DH sounds like a star! Sorry you had a bad weekend.

totally my bump goes funny shaped and slightly smaller too.

dinky pregnancy yoga and Pilates- well done you! I have found a local pregnancy yoga class I might start going to.

MightBeMad · 16/04/2013 21:48

Am away with limited reception but just checking in for any news from shiv.

VinegarDrinker · 16/04/2013 21:49

Boo to crappy weekends Slouching - any idea when you are stopping long days? I find weekends in many ways worse than nights. Yay for your DH though.

I really wish I could find a pregnancy yoga/pilates thingy but round here they all seem to be on in the daytime which is no use to me at all. Do women who work not get pregnant?!

dinkystinky · 16/04/2013 21:55

Vinegar whereabouts in London are you? I'm v lucky as there is a yoga studio literally around the corner from my house that does an early evening class on Tuesdays - on the rare lazy Sunday we have I also head over to Triyoga in primrose hill for a class with my old pregnancy yoga teacher from when I was pregnant with ds1 and ds2 - mostly because she has become a friend over the years.
