And the stats list is here

Mmm Danish pastry for starters Sunday sounds like my kind of meal Smile

You all sound so organised with hospital bags etc. I have a few bits shoved in the bottom of the wardrobe for mine, but no where near everything and it will probably be a while before it progresses into being in an actual bag. On thing I have been thinking about is we are going away for just under a week at the end of May (in the UK) when I'll be 32 weeks. Would it be a sensible idea to take "The Bag" with us just in case?

Re. antenatal yoga/pilates I found the cost prohibitive in my area - sorry but I just can't justify £15 a class, plus one lot clashed with our NCT classes that start in a couple of weeks. However, someone (sorry can't remember who and I think we were only on about thread 3 by then) suggested the "10 minute solution" prenatal pilates DVD which I have found excellent. You probably need to have done a bit of pilates before as it doesn't give much explanation for some of exercises and I miss out the "core" section as it just doesn't seem right to be doing sit up type exercises, but otherwise highly recommended.

Feeling really sicky today. Hope it's not the return of MS Confused...

Evening everyone,
Hope little Oliver has had a good day and continuing to defy those doctors!

I met with my boss today to update risk assessment and discus my mat leave, hoping to not actually start mat leave til 8th July (bubba due on 11th!) but having AL before that so actually finishing on 14th June, which is only 8 weeks away on fri! This is all creeping up quite quickly Smile I might have to do 1 more on call week but boss said if its a heavy week or I'm tired they will share my week with the rest of team.

I did a bit of a yoga DVD yesterday and back did feel a bit better today its call pregnancy health yoga with Tara Lee. Need to build up to doing the full 70mins before I can report on it properly but I like it so far if anyone is looking for a DVD.

Sorry long post! Should post more often! Smile

I packed my hospital bag in labour last time, then didn't even open it til he was born. All I really needed was one of everything (clothes and nappy) for him and knickers for me although I was in NHS ones with a vaginal pack in for the first 24 hours following PPH

We stayed for 3 days but DH could have, and did, bring most of what we needed from home on a daily basis.

MrsMillions · 17/04/2013 20:40

Evening ladies (and Paolo if you're still about)

I was busy with parents at the weekend so missed the end of thread 6 and Oliver's arrival...lots of love Team Shiv, I'm thinking of you all.

Dinky (I think) thanks for the tip up thread about maternity coat and sling.

I've seen my belly move through my clothes today, very strange.

We are picking up our crib at the weekend then will be heading to ASDA baby event to stock up. DH has stocked up on household stuff this evening so we shouldn't run out of dishwasher tablets or loo roll for months. Also now have non bio washing liquid to wash the hand-me-downs we've been given for the baby.

I'm loving cake. Nearly finished the big apple and walnut one (Mary Berry special) I made for the parental visit. Have been eating with a scoop of ice-cream for added calcium as I'm not a milk fan. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Now what to bake next?!

Found you all!

Just checking in to say shiv and family you are in my thoughts and prayers- keep fighting baby O x

vinegar I didn't even open my hospital bag when I was in labour either! I packed snacks and everything (they did come in handy over the next few days though).

All this talk of lovely cars is making me v jealous! Id love a Nissan quashqai, not sure if the budget will stretch though...

Guavasforbreakfast · 17/04/2013 20:47

All this talk of cake!!! I'm with you totally, I just eat it all too quickly as I have no DC to share them with (yetSmile) and DP is a savoury rather than sweet kind of guy. A recipe for 2 cupcakes sounds perfect!

Guavasforbreakfast · 17/04/2013 20:53

Beginning I finish on the 14th June too - counting down the weeks now!

dinkystinky · 17/04/2013 20:57

Another one finishing on 14 June here - cant wait!

Cutandstick · 17/04/2013 21:41

How big a bag do you use for your hospital bag? I've not even thought about it yet! Ah!

VinegarDrinker · 17/04/2013 21:48

I used a small wheely suitcase for me, and just changing bag type thing with few nappies and babygros for DS, but as mentioned, most of it didn't get used!

I did initially pack snacks .... but raided them a couple of days before going into labour and didn't get time to replace them Blush - it was easy enough for DH to grab stuff on the way in though.

Cheeseandbread · 17/04/2013 21:48

I'm down to finish 14 of June too- feeling uber tired already... Paperwork seems to be increasing rather than decreasing at the moment... Sad

Guava my DH is more savoury than sweet too so I too could do with that recipe Totally

VinegarDrinker · 17/04/2013 21:56

That post makes it sound like we stopped off for chocolate while I was in labour! I meant when he came back in to visit the next couple of days!

MarieKL · 17/04/2013 21:59

Just catching up after a few busy weeks. Shiv thank you so much for keeping us all updated. You, Mr Shiv and Oliver are in my prayers, and I'm humbled to be part of Oliver's Army.

BigBelly4 I'm with you on the doughnuts. Had one for breakfast, followed by chocolate cake a colleague brought in for my mid morning snack. It's no wonder I've put on about a stone and a half, but I'm with Dinky on it being far more important to be physically and mentally healthy. Just a shame the couch is more attractive at the moment Smile

I haven't even thought about my hospital bag yet. Had 2
Bags last time. One for labour and one for stay on the ward. Better get organised. Both about the size of an overnight bag so it fits in the small cabinet by the hospital beds.

Hope everyone else is okay and welcome to everyone joining us.

iclaudius · 18/04/2013 00:49

Just remove red a really good tip for hospital . Open a bottle of spring water top the top fifth out. Freeze. When in labour grab bottle and have lively iced water for at least twelve hours. I did it last time after reading it on MN and it was fab!!!

photographerlady · 18/04/2013 06:42

Good tip iclaudis I was toying with taking a cool bag just full of frozen bottled water and juice. Hospitals are ever so swampy aren't they? Even this time of year they just are so warm and humid.

I am usually always chilly but the last two weeks I slept duvetless for the first time ever. I think I have the pregnancy sweats. :(

AmaDablam · 18/04/2013 07:19

Just a really quick one to say Shiv has posted on FB again last night - Oliver is still hanging in there and had a relatively stable 24 hours. It must be so unbelievably hard - thinking of them all.

cogitosum · 18/04/2013 07:24

Hi I posted a bit earlier on but not in ages. I'm due 12th July. Can I join?

Sorry to see someone's come early very early glad he's stable

MrsMillions · 18/04/2013 08:16

I got carried away with my weeks last night and added an extra one on! 28 today.

I'm finishing on June 14th also. 1 week and 3 odd days of annual leave plus 2 bank holidays between now and then.

Grrr to the gales that kept me awake last night, and another grrr to whoever left an empty diet coke can on our communal drive area, it was rattling around very noisily. Muchos chocolate and cake required today I think.

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/04/2013 08:33

Morning all!

Welcome, cogito

DD has had me awake all night. She's been suck with a fever, horrible cough and conjunctivitis and can't stay asleep. She keeps crying out and has cough-vomitted a few times, so can't be ignored. I took her into my bed and we snuggled up but then she rolled off the edge of the bed over the pillow I'd put to stop her Blush so I spent the rest of the night on high alert keeping hold of her. I don't think she managed to sleep for more than a 20 minute stretch all night.

BB01 · 18/04/2013 08:50

I like the iced water tip, especially as I keep craving icy drinks ATM! Cheers iClaudius!

IcingOnTheNappyCake · 18/04/2013 08:51

Good news about Oliver still hanging in there!

totallyeggsflipped oh no! Hope your dd is feeling better today and not a bug?

Just to let you guys know 50g butter, 50g caster sugar, 50g self raising flour a drop of vanilla and 1 egg will make 3 large cupcakes Smile im starting to want more savoury foods today, i hope this is a good thing as wanting to scoff sweets all the time wasnt good for making my face look less fat... Haha

Had some kicks just below my ribs today Grin so happy! Cannot wait to see where she is on the scan though!

Hope everyones keeping well xx

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/04/2013 09:02

Thanks icing! DD loves making cakes but a whole batch is far to much for me us to eat. (DD isn't quite as interested in eating them as making them yet and only likes 'brown' (chocolate) cake) 3 cakes sounds much more manageable and we can bake more often. Grin

wifey6 · 18/04/2013 09:26

totally...hope your DD gets better soon - poor little one.
Love the cake info! Also the tips on ice-drinks!
Wonderful news that baby Oliver is hanging in there. Little fighter. Envy

dinkystinky · 18/04/2013 09:51

Ah poor DD Totally - really hope she gets better soon and you and she both get some rest today. There seem to be some horrible bugs doing the rounds. Top tip for kids in bed - folded up double duvet next to the bed helps cushion the blow when they inevitably fall out - DS2 did this all the time when he was in bed with us and the duvet stopped the wailing!

Welcome Cogito - stick your due date and other info on the stats thread (see first link in first post on the thread). Hope all going well with your pregnancy so far.

Iced water tip is great Iclaudius - its what we do on holiday when going to the beach but for some reason never thought of it for labour! And lets face it, hospitals/birth centres are as warm as beaches, if not more humid!

Wonderful news re Oliver having a stable 24 hours - I really hope this is the start of him bouncing from strength to strength. I also hope it meant you all managed to get some food and sleep last night Shiv. Hugs and strength to Team Shiv x

Had a fun start to work this morning with the tube down and local station closed - quick mile and a half route march to Thameslink followed by 40 minute exercise class and am just about ready for bed again. Ho hum.

GeorgieWilson · 18/04/2013 10:57

Ahhh am having a catch up reading since yesterday and all I can think about now is cake! I'm sitting at my desk starving! Grin
Re yoga I got a set of pregnancy dvd's off amazon, they were exercise, yoga, Pilates and post natal exercise. I would definitely recommend them, by Erin somebody (I'll check)
Nine weeks left for me at work and counting - finishing two weeks before I'm due.
Measured over the 95th centile at the midwifes this week - please reassure me that it's all guesswork and doesn't mean baby Georgie will be huge!
All the talk about cars is interesting too - I've just about accepted that my beloved z4 is not baby suitable but have no idea what to replace it with!
Glad to hear Oliver is still fighting - sending lots of wishes and prayers.
