Nice one cheek!

Evening ladies, wow I have missed so so much, I've been so so busy the last few days, I haven't even began to catch up yet, so will start reading now. Just popping on to say I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Smile

Thinkingof4 · 25/05/2013 21:07

Yikes hope emblosion getting on ok

Another one here finishing work on Friday and really looking forward to it! Have had a yucky viral cough/ cold all week and feeling like it was going to my chest but a bit better today so hopefully not.
It's been gorgeous here today, went to a BBQ at a friends house and the kids had a fab time playing in garden. Forecast is good for tomorrow too and going to in laws for another BBQ so no cooking for me this weekend - bonus!

Hope everyone is well and princesskate has been doing some relaxing

Forgot to say last time granny I had placenta pavaria (sp?) with DD, but it moved up by itself towards the end.

No more contraction excitement from me today (thank goodness), so I guess it was a false alarm after all. Any news from Emblosion? I hope all is well with her.

Oo and I found quite a good top for labour in primark; it's really thin t-shirt material so hopefully won't be too hot, short sleeves with buttons for skin to skin afterwards, and long enough to cover my dignity whilst I waddle around in agony! Not something I'd be seen dead in in real life but pretty perfect for the hospital, and it only cost a fiver!

princessllama · 25/05/2013 22:03

Thanks for the commiserations dinky and others. Ds has fully recovered and have been intensively nanny searching.
Sunday how are the bh? Maybe go and get monitored if happens for that long again- I think it's meant to be under an hour for bh.
Not princessk I hope your bp comes down , v frustrating and worrying.

Dinky thank you for telling me it was emblosion, I hope she is sitting v still at home watching DVD box sets.
I have a new worry today- I am mega itchy, mainly palms and soles of feet but everything else bit itchy. I rang the mw who said to come in for a blood test- but would you believe I am not at home in London but at hay festival in Herefordshire. It did calm down for a bit but now itchy itchy again and stupidly googled obstetric choleostasis and now anxious. Dh is going to America for work on Monday as soon as we get back coming back on fri eve. If there was a problem I don't want him on other side of world. Can't work out if being ott or not? The mw said as long as the baby is still kicking lots there is no problem even if was obstructive choleostasis. And it is kicking like mad.
Wondering whether we can chuck all our plans and go home tomorrow am- I know dd and ds would be gutted.
Aargh!

Abzs · 26/05/2013 00:55

Sunday I think I know the top you mean. I didn't get it because I thought it was a bit thin, but actually I don't suppose I'll be caring and I hadn't thought about the temperature in the hospital. Might go back for it, as I've failed to find any other dark coloured nightshirt type thing.

dinkystinky · 26/05/2013 06:25

Princess llama - if worried go to your nearest hospital - I don't think there is much they can do beyond what your mW has said but might help put your mind at rest.

dinkystinky · 26/05/2013 06:30

Princess - whereabouts in London are you based? I've joined a local mums FB group and half the posts seem to be about nannies looking for work so may be worth seeing if any local ones to you. We found our fan nanny (who will have been with us 7 years come October - original plan was she'd stays with us 3 years!) via Gumtree - childcare.co.UK also meant to be good.

dinkystinky · 26/05/2013 07:17

Off on holiday for a week so will only have intermittent net access - Notprincesskate and Princess llama am hoping all OK with you and your babies. Happy half term to all the teachers on thread. As for everyone else, stay well.

VinegarDrinker · 26/05/2013 07:28

Have a great holiday dinky Smile

Princessllama if you are worried you could pop into the nearest hospital - or at least call them. I would definitely do that rather than abandoning your holiday. If it is obstetric cholestasis (statistically unlikely) a day or two will not make a difference. FWIW I've had itchy palms/soles too the last few days, not bad enough for me to worry about though.

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/05/2013 09:07

Have a great holiday, dinky!

MrsMillions · 26/05/2013 15:24

Hi ladies

Thought might be onto thread 8 already but guess everyone is having too much fun in the sun. Like the name for it when we start though, I'm definitely feeling like I have a hefalump. (Was that a character in a 1980s picture book? Rings a vague bell.)

Bought a little runabout car for me yesterday, DH and I have only had 1 car for last 5 years but wanted something to help me get out and about. Will pick it up when we get back from our holiday in the lakes with the inlaws (gulp) next week. After putting deposit down had a nice potter in a few local towns before reaching nearby posh hotel for pre-parenthood treat. Enjoyed some drinks in the sun, had tasty dinner last night with a cheeky glass of wine, huge bed to spread out my cramp-prone legs, cooked breakfast today then a bit of pampering in the spa with a v relaxing prenatal massage and facial. Bliss and highly recommended.

Now back home chilling on the sofa because that was all soooo strenuous (ahem!), DH is happily watching cricket on TV, and we still have tomorrow to look forward to then a 3 day working week.

Hope those on half term have a fab week, I'll be making the most of quiet trains for my commute.

Abzs · 26/05/2013 16:06

MrsMillions Heffalump is from Winnie-the-Pooh Chapter Five "in which Piglet meets a Heffalump". Worth looking up for E.H. Shepard's marvellous illustration of Piglet imaging being chased by said Heffalump; though whether from Fondness or Fierceness with pigs, Piglet does not know.

MrsMillions · 26/05/2013 17:48

Thanks Abzs, a thread name with even greater pedigree than I realised. Looking forward to revisiting Pooh and more when I'm a mummy!

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/05/2013 19:30

Sounds like you're having a great weekend, MrsMillions.

We've been enjoying the sunshine. Went to the zoo yesterday. DD (2 1/4) was most disappointed that the elephant didn't do a massive poo like it had the last time we went. She even told our landlord neighbour that "elephant no giant poo today" Blush.
Had a great time at a food festival with friends today, then a quick trip to the beach to make sure the sea was still there. (it was).

VinegarDrinker · 26/05/2013 20:06

We've had a lovely day, too. DS has a "pop up London" book he adores, with all the main 'sights' in, so we headed down to the South Bank and walked along from London Bridge to Waterloo, so he could see the Globe, Tate Modern, Big Ben, St Paul's etc. We then jumped on a boat all the way to the O2 (it's a fixed price so decided to get our money's worth) where the highlight of the day was discovering the fountains there, which kept DS occupied for ages before we headed home via the tube.

Tomorrow is earmarked for some serious pre-baby house and gardening sorting, and an Ikea trip to buy a new cheap cot as we are too chicken to evict DS from his!

notprincesskate · 26/05/2013 21:21

evening all, managed some relaxing friday night, protein still in urine sample on sat am, so ended up at at MAU for a good few hours, CTG fine- although wish they had told me that after 30mins or so, after 2 hours I was actually beginning to panic, BP fine, nothing on bloods, but protein still seems to be a concern- given previous history. They offered to admit me for monitoring, but I gratefully declined this time as DH birthday today and difficulties with DD childcare. Next appt on tues, so spending tomorrow sorting odds and ends in case they do want to admit me.......any O&G peeps out there that can shed any light on protein positive 1+, but no hypertension? (they have ruled out contamination).
Enjoy the sunshine today, and hopefully tomorrow, pre rain returning.

princessllama · 27/05/2013 00:11

bad luck not princesskate on the protein. hope tuesday goes ok too.
glad to hear everyone doing ok.
we came back to london early as the itching was doing my head in. hospital wanted me in to monitor too. so i've been in and been monitored and had blood tests. v dismissive mw. they told me to buy piriton. why i didn't instantly go on a mission i don't know because now i feel like getting some sandpaper to take all my skin off. am so itchy on hands and feet. so much worse at bedtime. i am going crazy. tempted to ask dh to go and find all night chemist but know it would take dynamite as he is asleep and has a hangover from last night-so irritating.plus is middle of night so would not be easy mission. im going mad here.

TotallyEggFlipped · 27/05/2013 16:25

Hope the itching's a bit better today & it didn't keep you awake, princess

Good luck tomorrow notprincesskate & emblosion

I went into town this afternoon & spent £45 on maternity clothes because I was so fed up of feeling like I had nothing to wear Blush It feels wrong to spend so much at 32+ weeks, but I'd really love another baby after this one, although I doubt it'll happen, unfortunately.

mysterymeg · 27/05/2013 17:05

Thanks for the warm welcome back!

princessllama I was tested for cholestasis last week due to itchiness. Came back negative - my itching has apparently been caused by exceedingly low iron levels. Now on tablets for that and have noticed a slight improvement. Worth you asking about that if the blood doesn't indicate liver issues.

Sunday I've had lots of bh over the last few weeks. Had two "nasty" ones this morning which were accompanied with cervixy type pain which worried me slightly but all is quiet again. Must be just practicing. Doesn't help that I'm huge and everyone says I'll go early Confused

notprincesskate hope tomorrow goes well for you!

Exciting developments here - plasterer finished the nursery this morning so should be able to get in to paint later this week.

Feeling a bit better about being signed off now. It's nice to have "permission" to have been feeling miserable if that makes sense. All everyone says is that pregnancy is not an illness but it bloody well feels like one sometimes!

BB01 · 27/05/2013 18:14

Just catching up but Sunday think I just bought same Primark top as you! It's basically a granny nightie but I figured still better than a hospital gown! In fact was so comfy I bought two along with a big black towel, black granny pants and black pyjama bottoms!
