And then the baby comes wickedgirl and we'll worry about them for the rest of our lives! I guess we should just get used to worrying. Feeling a bit better today. We've decided if anything shows up as abnormal at 20 weeks we'll get further testing then. Until then, will try and relax. Off to the airport in a moment but will try not to be a lurker on here when I'm back in 2 weeks! Take care everyone x

roxvox · 27/04/2013 08:28

Morning all. Still waiting on my letter to tell me our risk. Pregnancy has made me realise how very impatient I am!

Weighed myself this morning and have put on 3lbs (first bit of weight gain since BFP). It could be baby, or it could be my midweek KFC 'craving'...

Does anyone know what the deal is with sleeping on our backs? I don't know whether I should be or not as I've read you shouldn't, but assumed that wasn't until the third trimester/when I've got a bit more weight to the front of me?

OrangeBlossom2 · 27/04/2013 08:34

Roxvox I think it is once your bump is big enough to push on vena cava and it makes you dizzy. I have been trying to get used to side sleeping but still end up on my back sometimes.

OP posts:
Shirehobbit · 27/04/2013 09:23

I'm struggling with side sleeping, too - but then I usually sleep on my front, and that's not going to be at all possible, soon.

Claphammama · 27/04/2013 09:40

I've heard on your back is OK until 30 weeks. Depending on everyone's size of course. And now and then I still wake up on my tummy! and I have quite a bump so not sure how I manage it in the night to be honest...

Soupqueen · 27/04/2013 10:07

I've been trying to train myself to sleep on my side but keep waking up on my back. Pre pregnancy, I was a stomach sleeper but my nipples are so sensitive these days that it's not an option.

HotSoupDumpling · 27/04/2013 10:36

Glad you're feeling better Hayle

My heart was in my mouth during Masterchef last night. I spent the first third yelling 'Whose chocolate pot was that!?!' at DH, and when I saw Larkin was going chocolate soufflés...the suspense was too much. (The sexiness and excitement index of my Friday evening was also increased by the fact I was knitting at the time...)

I bought a bit from the Asos maternity sale this week..I like the free returns. Alas like most maternity wear it all seems to be polyester/viscose/acrylic stuff.

HotSoupDumpling · 27/04/2013 10:37

P.S. re pillows, I heard that putting a big pregnancy pillow bolster thing behind your back helps to train you not to roll back on it.

Umlauf · 27/04/2013 11:24

I'm having the same thing with the sleeping, keep waking up on my front. Last night I tried taking my pillow down and having it as something to cuddle on the side which worked quite well, so I'm going to buy a new pillow for that purpose when I next get to the shops.

Have woken up with a horrid cold, gone through about 3 loo rolls worth of tissues! Frantically googling what I can take. Yesterday I told the midwife I was nervous about taking the paracetamol prescribed to me by the gynaecologist for the back pain because it says on the packet not to take whilst pregnant, and she laughed and said all medicines say that to cover them from being sued and that they're pretty much all safe. Hmmm..... Still not sure what to do!

Ooh new discovery on the subject of naternity wear! Zara have started doing maternity wear - Zara Mum! Bought some jeans and they are amazing, so much comfort than the asos ones I had and much lighter for summer!

Also I've given in and booked a scan for next Friday. (My nhs equivalent isn't until 22 weeks). I am justifying it because its an 'emotional scan' and so they give you an hour, loads of pics and a DVD, and ill find out the sex. Its 4d as well (no option for 3d) so that might be cool! Sooo expensive though, DH only agreed as he's feeling sorry for me being so ill!

Smitten1981 · 27/04/2013 12:07

Afternoon ladies! Just been shopping and I still fit in my regular size, whoop!

Bought a new outfit for my birthday night out tonight.

I've got a tiny pillow from John Lewis. It's called a boudoir pillow and I kind of wedge it under my tummy at bedtime. Works wonders, I can't sleep without it now.

Ps. Joining in with all the MasterChef talk: Is it wrong to have a bit of a crush on John Torode?

Shirehobbit · 27/04/2013 12:30

Not sure about John, but he is preferable to shouty Greg, smitten...however, Michel Roux Jnr on Professional Masterchef? ....swoon..... Wink

TheFalconsmistress · 27/04/2013 13:48

Had a morning at the farmers market and ate unpasteurised hard cheese im a bit worried now Sad

Bought Arbroath smokies having it for lunch so looking forward to that at least Smile

Iheartcrunchiebars · 27/04/2013 13:56

Soup & smitten LOVE masterchef and had a racy dream about John torode last night!! I am so glad Larkin went through although why he keeps picking these soufflés up with tongs astounds me. Use your hands and a tea towel man!!

Falcon dont worry I think the chance of you catching something is very very low. I'm still eating chorizo, Brie, blue cheeses etc.

How are people's name choices going? We are down to 3 girls, 3 boys.

Soupqueen · 27/04/2013 14:08

falcon, I'm pretty sure hard cheeses are fine whether pasteurised or not.

I agree with shire , Michel Roux Jnr all the way.

HotSoupDumpling · 27/04/2013 14:43

Agree with Soupqueen, apparently unpasteurised hard cheeses are okay.

crunchie, I also had a 'Don't use the frickin tongs!' moment at Larkin yesterday.

My preg pillow is the Theraline. I love love love it. Really good for all the sitting in bed that I've been doing.

TheFalconsmistress · 27/04/2013 14:56

Thats a relief ladies Smile

Eating fudge and drinking some beautiful herbal tea now got to love a farmers market Grin

Flyer747 · 27/04/2013 15:35

Has anyone ever seen or used the joolz day pram/pushchair I've just looked at it and I have to have it, it's lush....its the earth edition and in the elephant grey colour it looks really stylish....if anyone has had experiences with this buggy was it good? Thanks

Sanjifair · 27/04/2013 15:37

Name choices, a long list of girls, a shorter list for boys.
Food - I've eaten cured meat/chorizo etc by mistake, I just momentarily forgot I was pregnant! However NHS website actually says its ok. Did eat raw egg by mistake too, was baking and licked the spoon on autopilot!

roofio87 · 27/04/2013 16:27

I did that this morning sanjifair making pancake batter and licked some off my hand! oh well, babies have survived much more!!Wink

JellyCurls · 27/04/2013 16:34

I confess to eating the cake mix out the bowl to and so far no ill effects. Never thought it as eating raw egg before though, how stupid am I.

Shirehobbit · 27/04/2013 16:40

I did the cake mix spoon/bowl lick, too. I was so busy congratulating myself at being a home-maker extrordinaire (not a regular cake-maker) that it didn't occur to me until after the event.
What do they say about pride before a fall? Wink

JellyCurls · 27/04/2013 16:48

On the homemaker extraordinaire front I ordered wool and a pattern to knit a teddy pram suit for baby. Just wish wool was here already, am desperate to start it

Claphammama · 27/04/2013 16:52

thanks for mentioning Michel Roux shire - it brightened my day as I've spent it feeling sick like a dog on the sofa. today is a bad day... nausea is back after almost 3 weeks and I had a 15min crying / laughing episode earlier. DP thought it was hilarious.

Seriously though, Michel Roux is sooo sexy... I want to eat him. DP knows it and confessed he wanted to book his restaurant for his proposal but the place is just impossible to get into. Funny choice it would be - proposing to me as I was drooling after another man! LOL.

John Torode used to live in my street, before hr spilt up with his wife - he doesn't look that good off the camera. Trust me.

I was sorry to see Larkin go. They were all so good, I would be sorry to see any of them go at this stage.

Just sent DP shopping for ingredients for tamarind prawns. This whole conversation made me hungry. let's hope I will have energy to cook later.

who was it who was going for their sexing scan today? can't remember and can't wait to hear if we have another girl or the first boy!

Smitten1981 · 27/04/2013 16:59

Noooo Clapham. Don't ruin my crush on John Hmm hasn't he shacked up with that Lisa Faulkner one now, she snared him on Celeb MasterChef.

Claphammama · 27/04/2013 17:01

he did indeed! what a story! she split up from her husband too.

Happy birthday smitten by the way!! just seen your comment about the birthday outfit. Are you going somewhere nice tonight?
