roofio I'm jel! I may as well wait until I find out the babies sex on Wednesday before I go splashing out I'm excited!!!

roofio87 · 25/04/2013 16:48

Hehe I know Natalie it was hard to ignore the boys and girls clothes and just look at the neutral stuff!! but I did find some really nice things! everything else is just practical but I can't help but find buying a box of nappies very exciting,Haha Grin

Haylebop12 · 25/04/2013 16:53

We're going to haven at the end of July. It's a beautiful site in wales. We've been there before. We asked dd (4) if she wanted to go Spain or see Bradley bear. She chose Bradley bear and saves us a fair bit. As dh is ex army we get a discount too so mange to get a full 7 nights for £640. Also got my sister and her bf coming and my unle and his family. (Kids are 8 and 10) I really can't wait. We will probably also do a few days out and a few days down south as we have a family member we can stay with.

I'm finishing at 36 weeks as of now but hoping to add some holiday o to the front. I had dd at 37+5 and definitely want more than 12 days of "me" time before baby arrives. Just in case!

BowlFullofJelly · 25/04/2013 16:55

If all goes to plan I'll be starting mat leave at 35 or 36 weeks - will tag however much holiday I have left onto the start, and so actual mat leave will start at 38 weeks

Haven't even started to think about buying baby stuff yet. Will wait until after scan, and then can go through DS's stuff and see what we can use. Still have most of the big stuff left from DS, so will just be clothes, bottles and new parts for breast pump, and buggy for us I think.

Haylebop12 · 25/04/2013 17:09

Am I the only one who hasn't bought anything... At all? I don't plan to until after my scan :-/

Natalieand · 25/04/2013 17:15

Completely un thread related but grr I've had two of the most annoying things happen to me today!!

  1. Didn't rinse my hair out properly this morning so when I dried it and went to straighten. It it was even worse than before I washed it
  1. Just gone to make shepards pie and I must have forgotten too get the mince out of the freezer cos is still in there looking very frozen agh!

Lol

LostMySocks · 25/04/2013 17:16

Don't worry haylebop I haven't bought anything yet. Although have been offered a lovely pram. We're buying a new house and trying to declutter ours before it goes on the market in a couple of weeks. Not sure buying stuff supports making our place look roomy

TheFalconsmistress · 25/04/2013 17:19

roofio I am desperate to buy loads not bought any clothes though as of yet I know i wont need much as my best mate just gave birth to a girlie. I am buying the wee pink tommie tippie bottles though tomorrow and the wee strawberry romper DS wants it for his sister as it has pockets Hmm Grin

Claphammama · 25/04/2013 17:23

I haven't bought anything Haylebop! I already have all the big stuff after DS apart from moses basket. And waiting to buy all the small stuff. Feels very early for now... I'm only 14+2. Although I'm more tempted every day.

Re: maternity leave, was thinking about finishing on 1st October or so, at 37 weeks. The first two / three weeks would be my remaining holiday so my maternity would kick in around 39 / 40 weeks. Saying this.... my company does this terrible annual performance review cycle in September... usually around mid September. So I'm really tempted to leave at 35 or even 34 weeks to avoid it! :-) If any of you works for a big American corporation, you will understand the amount of painful bureaucracy and bulls* involved!

roxvox · 25/04/2013 17:25

haylebop I haven't bought anything yet either. I have done a bit of window shopping to get an idea of cots and prams, but that's as far as I have gone. After my 20 week scan then (all being well) I intend to venture to Kiddicare and have a nose [smille]

natalieand I have done that recently with my hair too. Generally I hate washing my hair because it's such a faff, but when you go through all the effort to end up with a waxy effect on your hair that is itchy too (because of the left over shampoo) then it just makes the effort seem pointless.

Haylebop12 · 25/04/2013 17:32

Oh good! I have the main stuff from dd, like pram, cot and moses basket. I don't have any of her clothes left anyway so even if this is a girl I would need bits and bobs. I think I have a box of vests and babygros mind so ill have a look through.

Do need a breast pump and bottles but will have to research that! Also instead of a bouncy chair I quite fancy a swing but have got my dad buying that Grin

34PinkLadyApple · 25/04/2013 17:41

Afternoon ladies. Can't remember who asked about 20 week scan dates. Mines on the 8th on May and i cant blooming wait. Not finding out the sex, just want to have another looky at 'little face' and make sure all is well.

I've only bought 1 thing so far which is a cute little grey outfit with a hat. All in one says 'cheeky little bunny' on the front and has a little furry patch on the bottom like a bunny. That was ASDA, £4!

In other news, we've been invited to a wedding on August 31st. It's a blessing rather than wedding as they live in Australia so are getting married there first. It's in a marque with camping which I would normally be really looking forward to getting hammered tipsy and passing out camping out but with only 3 weeks off my due date, I think I'll be driving home sober instead Sad.

cherrycherry41 · 25/04/2013 17:41

I havent bought ANYTHING yet, but DD is only 7 months so got plenty of baby things left over- cotton wool, toiletries, nappies etc. Will be recycling alot of things here too, just buying a cot and double buggy Smile

Had a Mumsnet meet up today with 2 other Oct 2012 mums (who i met on a baby club thread), exciting to think that could be some of us next year! Grin

Claphammama · 25/04/2013 17:43

do mums from mumsnet meet up? That would be exciting! I'm all up for it although I guess we are all in different locations?

Shootingstarsandcomets · 25/04/2013 17:45

No buying here either. Have got all the big things from ds and if its a boy all the clothes he will need. All we need to do is buy nursery furniture and paint his/her room and choose a double buggy. Had a look at bugaboo donkey today when DH met us for lunch. I really don't like it half as much as my stokke but don't think ds will be able to do without a buggy at just 14 months- he might even not be walking.
3 weeks to go until our hols too. We're going to puglia which we love and I can't wait to see what ds makes of the beach!

cherrycherry41 · 25/04/2013 17:54

Yeah, we migrated to a secret fb group and its easier to talk/share photos and discuss things. Regular meet ups happen in some areas, especially in london, cambridge etc. This one was in Sheffield where i live Smile
We're arranging to go to The Deep in Hull with all the bambinos in May, like a mumsnet school trip haha!
The fb group and meet ups are optional though, there were some people that wernt comfortable revealing their identity but unfortunately we dont use the mn thread anymore Confused

Iheartcrunchiebars · 25/04/2013 17:59

Not bought anything either, probably won't till the week before I reckon.
I have no idea where to start anyway. We don't have a car so won't bother will a car...although that will mean walking from the hospital which I'm not keen on!

I'm off on a girly weekend in week 37. Mad or not?

( It's only a spa weekend.)

Claphammama · 25/04/2013 18:02

This sounds lovely cherry. I had a lovely NCT network after DS was born but not planning to do NCT classes again so will miss it this time. I am the social kind...

I love puglia too shooting! Such an amazing place and Italians adore children.

pinklady I'm going to a big wedding on 16th August and have similar thoughts! They are a drinking crowd so not looking forward to being sober... also - what on earth will I wear????

Natalieand · 25/04/2013 18:11

cruchie just a suggestion Argos and even Asda do stage 0 car seats for around £25-£30 an they are quite nice I would be getting one of them only reason I'm not is its not compatible with our buggy but worth buying for when u do use a taxi? Or pop out in friends cars etc?

roofio87 · 25/04/2013 18:11

no I think its quite normal to not buy things for a while. I'm just being super organised and excited so wanted to get some bits. it might be a bit naive as well but I wanna think positively about this pregnancy and enjoy it so don't feel the need to wait for next scan. that's totally just me though!!

Haylebop12 · 25/04/2013 18:17

roofio I'm the opposite, I'm so laid back about it all. I am so excited about this baby but still so nervous about stuff going wrong. Saying that I don't really take in much of the advice and if I fancy a forbidden food ill have it (but just a bit) naughty naughty!

Smitten1981 · 25/04/2013 18:25

I haven't bought one thing yet. I'm waiting till the 20 week scan.

I've been looking at cloth nappies today. Looks a lot less scary than I first though. DH isn't convinced however.

roofio87 · 25/04/2013 18:29

Hehe, I think its cos its my first too that I'm just too overly excited. I'm trying to enjoy all the good things at the moment like having dp all to myself and being able to lie in!! otherwise I'm just too impatient for baby to arrive!!

Haylebop12 · 25/04/2013 18:39

Oh yes definitely get those lie ins. We only get then now if dd stops out, maybe once every two weeks as now and again she stops out if we're both working early, so no lie in there!

GTbaby · 25/04/2013 18:43

Wow a very chatty morning.

For those considering a sling, I really recommend trying them on first at a sling library. Can be found online or through Facebook. I bought two online n just didn't feel right. So save your self time n go to a library!

Also I bought nothing for my ds1 until after birth apart from 6 baby grows and vests. Lol. Although I did get quite a few baby shower gifts Wink

The nov12 ante and post natal thread meet up aswel. In various locations around uk. We also have a private FB group. But use it mainly for meet up coordination and sharing scans birth announcements and now weaning pictures.
